I received my CMP 1911 today. I was only offered the rack grade. But I could not have been more pleased. It has a Colt frame and the serial number says that it was manufactured in 1944. It has a GI replacement slide that was made by Israel military institute and the barrel is a colt but with different serial number. The frame has a shiny finish. the replacement slide is parkerized. It has the numbers 52 painted on the grips. Which I was pleased with as 1952 was the year my Dad entered the Korean war. All in all the gun is in very good shape. I could not be much more pleased.
Nov 2022, CMP round 3. RGN 34042. I received my Service Grade M1911A1, a 1943 Remington Rand frame, a replacement slide (7790314), and a barrel (7791193). All roll marks and inspection initials are legible. The Army Ordnance crossed cannons have a "MR" over strike. I have been told this is from Mount Rainier Arsenal. The grip safety is a replacement. Oddly, it has "75" painted on the right grip ala a "rack grade." The finish is good. One minor faint "idiot" scratch, but otherwise, it was better than expected. I'm a USAF ret MSgt former SP and Armorer, so I am VERY glad to have gotten such a nice piece of military history. And it is a very accurate shooter as well.
I was mid 33000s and I got service grade and ended up with an Ithaca frame and replacement Israeli slide. Gun is in great shape but if I had it to do over I’d have gotten rack grade for the possibility of a gun with more “character .” Still glad to have it and it’s nice to know I can shoot it if I feel like it without worrying about it cracking.
They just might have run out of the pool of folks who wanted one of these classics. I’ve heard that they are selling second pistols to folks now. They should be able to give out as many as wanted. Seeing that the government has millions of them. Congratulations 🎉
I am just waiting for my call. I am expecting it sometime in April. I have been on the fence about whether I want a Field grade or Rack grade. Your video may have just made my mind up. Very informative video !
Just got mine today. 1943 Colt lower, Ithaca slide field grade. Was offered Service and Field, so went with Field grade. But I kinda wish I would've bought the Service. Maybe in the near future they'll allow second purchase.
Sent my packet in today. Regardless of what grade I’m offered, It’s gonna be a shooter. Maybe not 1000’s of rounds a year, but a few mags every now and again.
I didn't see anything in that pistol to qualify it as rack grade. Is the barrel bad or something not functioning correctly? I have seen some people receive field grade weapons that were nowhere near that nice.
the rack grade guns are more interesting to me. the newer rebuilds not so much. seen a few that wer numbers matching still.and a few pre a1 1911s even.
You nailed it with rack grade I got auction grade 75 percent finish overall good was description. You rack looks better. Are they just auctioning to get max cash 💸
i sent mp packet in at the same time as you never contacted me no rgn nothing - UPS says it was delivered oct 15 th - ( ive called 3 times just to see with no call backs E-mailed twice no return contact - kinda bummed out and dissapointed
Nice gun good review. Go shoot that nice 1911. Don’t use that mag! It wii jam! pick up a colt magazine or something better and it should run flawlessly

Very nice!
Just got the call today, sent in the packet October 27th,2022. 37,300 range! Can't wait! They only had rack grade left
To me the slide is as important historically as the frame. I wouldn't want a post war slide. You did great!
Nice 1911 ! I got my packet in on the mail
the first day RGN 33238 got my service grade 57 days later. 1940 Colt upper and 1944 Remington Rand frame
That is awesome!
Did you have to pay sales tax
