Whoever got that handgun really lucked out. Colt slide and frame and looks like it has it's original finish. That's exactly like the 1911 I wanted but you don't get to choose and you can only get 1. I also received a Field Grade but it had been reparked and has a Colt frame and Remington Rand slide. The frame on mine has a 6 digit serial number though.

That serial number underneath the slide dates to 43 as well. That slide is not a replacement slide. From another gun, yes. All colt replacement slides were manufactured after WW2 and are all hardened steel

Your field grade looks better than my service grade.

Edit: actually I guess your customer is real lucky.
You're real lucky. I get my 3rd round service grade tomorrow. I'm accepting the fact I'll get a common mixmaster RR and Ithaca that's been refinished in the 70-80s. I'd be extremely happy to get yours. Actually if I had my druthers and Singer was off the table, a US&S complete would be badass. Congratulations on yours!

if it has to be a mix master a rem umc frame with a savage slide would be acceptable..lol

I just got my phone call yesterday , August 29, 2023 after 4 months of waiting, I was told that only Field or Service Grades available. I chose Field for $1150.00. Now to wait just a little longer and hopefully a nice one like this.

I will be getting my Field Grade 1911 in a couple of weeks. I hope it looks as nice as this one . I mailed my paperwork back in April . They only had field or service available to choose from at this point.

Not a bad looking gun but did you get the customers permission to make this video/post their serial numbers?

That's the proverbial "unicorn" M1911A1 from CMP. The frame and slide manufacturers match.
11/17/22 I received my M1911a1 Service Grade from CMP. A 1943 Remington Rand frame and a GI replacement slide (7790314) from a Colt National Match Hard slide contract with matching chrome lined barrel (.45 AUTO 7791193 '85). All roll marks and inspection initials are legible. The Army Ordnance crossed canons have an MR (Mount Ranier) overstrike but are still partially visible. It shoots VERY well, and I'm grateful to have it.

There’s an actual NM marked gun on the CMP forum. Does your have any markings like that one?

    You did well

You can see it’s not parkerized in the serial number stamping. That’s the original finish. That’s the gun I hoped to get. I got her homelier Ithaca sister with 3-4 rebuilds. Every single USGI 1911a1 has a mixture of various parts. None of them are all original even if people delude themselves they are. All the GI’s talk about swapping parts at most pistol cleanings.

Ummm...No the Sllife ISNT A Replacement One- it was on Anothet Frame when Made(# on Slide) and got SWAPPED onto this Frame! Common Occurrence!
