  • In 2014, RUclips user "snakebitmcgee" made a rather preposterous claim - he had seen a mysterious M shaped cave in the desert outside Nellis Air Force Base, and it had strange properties which caused his body to vibrate. Accused of lying, Kenny Veach ventured into the wilderness in search of his cave, only to disappear without any trace. This is his story. Welcome back to The Lore Lodge...

Put a bright colored reflective cloth/banner outside the mine or cave your in, tell people when, where and who you are going with. Come prepared for rattle snakes and animals hidden in the nooks of the cave/mine. Have sensors for bad air, and have back up for lights, food and water. GPS, cell phone, and protection like a fire arm and knife. Don't be stupid, use brains for all your plans. Think about your experience level before doing risky stuff. Be safe out there, and come back alive

    • @delanorrosey4730
      @delanorrosey4730 Год назад +118

Problem with hanging a reflective banner or flag is grounding it to the rock formations. Another problem is if someone was to go looking for you, that flag being easily missed in a vast terrain.
GPS coordinates are much more accurate.
Why he didn't bring a firearm and camera on EVERY hike, is a mystery to me. Another item you mentioned is an O2 sensor or confined space monitor. Confined spaces can have deadly gases and could render you unconscious or death due to asphyxiation.
I also don't understand why he didn't bring abseiling gear, I don't know. Why he has a six pack of beer in Death Valley instead a case of water, I don't know.

I will say that when it comes to major depression, there is a level of doublethink involved. A person can be totally invested in a subject, and show genuine interest in it, and then turn around and consider suicide or self-harm. It comes in waves, and you can be on a bit of a peak, able to function, and actively engage in something you enjoy, and then hit a dip and suddenly that previous enthusiasm seems stupid even to yourself. I believe he took his own life. It makes perfect sense to me, as someone who struggles with major depression, too. I want to be an author, and I show an extreme enthusiasm for writing. But when I am at a low, none of that matters.

I 100% agree. Also, it’s not an “easy” activity to search a wide expanse of desert for a body. A lot of symptoms of depression and suicidal ideology, don’t come with logic. Usually people suffering with this do not think with logic and critical thinking- rather with emotion. Finding a body in the desert isn’t easy, so it’s not that suspicious that people didn’t find him.
Also.. a lot of times the most logical solution IS the solution. Obviously we can’t prove it, but he was suffering from suicidal thoughts and went to do something he loved, maybe as a last moment. We may never know, but speculating that it’s aliens or the government that killed him honestly seems a bit disrespectful to me. That’s just my opinion however. I hope he rests in peace.
Edit: this is coming from someone who also suffers from depression, this is just my take on what may have happened to him.

Then, you're vastly underestimating the effects depression can have on the mind.
      *edit:*
      Eh.
Fuck it. IT'S TEXT WALL TIME.
For the record, here's some info that gives credibility to the theory he sadly took his own life: (most of these were already mentioned, but I'm repeating them solely for emphasis together)
*1.* He was in terrible financial debt that he was NEVER going to recover from due to putting ALL of his retirement into his own business that failed.
*2.* He confessed that he'd only begun to really struggle with depression and thoughts of unaliving himself after his father took his own when he was twenty-one.
*3.* He made the remarks about how "if I died out there, no one would ever find me" to his ex-girlfriend shortly before he
      vanished.
*4.* He left a text document on his PC in plain sight where he'd repeatedly typed in the words "help me" over fifty times.
*5.* The night before he disappeared, he'd gone to see a movie with his ex-girlfriend, who he was still extremely close with, and she's said in interviews that he seemed worse off than usual and that she'd felt like something was wrong.
*6.* The movie they saw depicted one of the characters unaliving themselves. Really want to emphasize that those scenes aren’t helpful to someone already struggling in a negative headspace.
With the exception of point six― since all people are affected differently by things, the rest are *all facts.*
Now, with THAT said, OP could also absolutely be right. His "experience" means nothing. Everyone who knew him has admitted that he was always ill-prepared and wreckless. He, for example, bragged about how far he could push himself without stopping to take more than a sip of water. In the Mojave desert.
He also admitted to doing stupid things, like harassing and picking up venemous snakes with his bare hands and that he'd been hospitalized from being bit before because of that.
And those are just two examples. Might add more onto it later.
      tl;dr
There's much more credibility to the theories that he either: A, had an accident due to his own negligence and overconfidence, or B, unalived himself― than there are any of the others.

He did basically. I watched a good portion of his video when he “lost cave”. He showed the whole area he was walking or going to walk. He described the M cave to be close to the ground instead of having height and he made it seem like it was hidden almost. He even showed the spot he found of the pine cones, so there’s a spot full of pine cone trees. And also we have to include bottles of his he threw down. I think the search was quite lazy to me. 3 days searching and they stopped looking for him. I’m pissed. 😭 n I shouldn’t be. Knowing he was stuck in that hot cave with no water, sweating & worst part is he has bad knees. His video was so detailed idc if it took me 3 years I am scooping the whole area. It’s not like searching through different states or searching Niagara Falls it’s one piece of land with a distinct M shape likely small entrance that’s very close to the ground. He even described the mountains he had to cross N how the ground turns flat after a while. Like wth, I just can’t help but to picture him out there starving being stuck in a dark cave. I remember one hiker was lost for years survived almost 1 mth in before dying from natural causes and she was like a hour away from a public trail a whole tent, cell phone, corpse ect so I can imagine what he went through.

@@OrginalFrequency Get over it bruh, he didn't "disappear" or get lost/stuck in some cave, he went on his last expedition to die.
He had no job, his dreams of being a home decorator or famous Shark Tank inventor were fruitless and he was running out of money quickly.
His gf even mentioned him dreading the idea of getting another regular job in society.
The cell phone being found at the mineshaft indicates his fate - he left it behind to hopefully/maybe be found. Like one last hint to Kenny's final resting place, down in the mine shaft.
Why else leave the cell phone at the shaft entrance? He could have easily left his phone in his truck, or left it at home with his camera.
And I think you and many others are mixing things up. Kenny's last video has nothing to do with his disappearance, it was recorded & uploaded months prior. That's not when he left his cellphone, that's not when he disappeared.
I mean... Kenny literally had a "would you ever suicide?" conversation with his gf shortly before his disappearance, obviously she was getting a "he might kill himself" vibe to even ask that and whaddya know? A short while later, Kenny goes on a hike without bothering to take his camera and disappears for good.
He's dead and I'd bet money that his remains are somewhere in that old mine, just below where Kenny's cell phone was found.

Usually he posts metal detecting, magnet fishing, and occasionally cave/abandoned area explorations. He's made several videos detailing his hikes to see if he could find any sign of Kenny or the "M" cave. He's gone up to the mineshaft and all over the surrounding canyons and is quite good at spotting man-made distrubances in the terrain which was interesting. Definitely sparked an interest to learn more about Kenny and his situation, I hope there'll be a definitive end to his story one day.

To me, as someone with similar mental health experience I can say it might have been one maniacal elaborate master plan made by Kenny himself. When contemplating ways of ending it all, it’s common to come up with elaborate ways to confuse people for years to come. It’s like leaving behind one last legacy, having one last laugh. in the first video where he is looking for the M cave he almost seems to foreshadow his own demise as if he knew ahead of time and had everything planned out and was planting a diversion, especially because his phone was left at the same mineshaft. Also, showing his planed rout for his second trip to everyone could also have just been another diversion because he allegedly did say “if I did do it, no one would ever find me”. As the experienced and athletic survivalist had no trouble crossing long distances in limited amounts of time, I find it completely possible that he dropped off his phone at the mine before heading off in some unknown direction having set up two cold trails, ensuring the confusion of people interested like us. However we may never know but keep in mind THIS IS JUST A THEORY. Whatever happened is horrible and tragic and I send my condolences to the family. If you struggle with mental health I encourage you to seek help ❤peace and love

I've been invested in this case for years and I always come back to the phone. One of the big things at least us Australians are taught is that if you're being abducted, try to drop objects of yours to potentially create an area of interest for investigators. Something in my gut screams that he left his phone there not so he couldn't be followed, but in hopes he would be. Abandoned Hiking gear is a dime a dozen, a personal cellphone is a direct message.
I'm not saying it was an abduction by aliens at all. I don't believe that fir a second. If I had to guess, I'd put money on him becoming tired or disoriented, having his judgement impaired amd maybe a sense of paranoia led him to believe he was in danger. Or if you plan to kill yourself, but secretly hope someone/some people care deeply enough about you that they'll search until they find you or your remains.... you leave your cellphone at the entrance to an old mine shaft, because you're about to climb down into that mine and explore as far as he could, before Kenny found a good place to lay down and die (or became stuck & died).
If he was going to leave his phone at the mine shaft, then continue on into the dessert, why would he bother? He could have simply left his phone in his truck, or at home with his camera.
But if you want to hint that you're in the mine, without blatantly saying so and making it seem melodramatic or pathetic? Leaving a cell phone is a pretty big clue, without being completely obvious, like a sign "I'm in the mine"

Best advise indeed, never enter a cave alone. Grew up in the most Soutern part of the Netherland called Limburg. We have caves of hundreds of kilometers long reaching far into neighboring countries. Firestone mines from prehistoric days, catacombes from Roman empire, sandstone/chalkstone mines from more recent days and coalmines from 19the and early 20th century and one thing every Limburg child learns is...never ever enter caves alone. I remember several cases of adventures people who thought it was nonsence and wanted some adventures exploring and where never found again. And we don't even have dangerous wild animals to fear from. So indeed, never enter caves alone, or better, simply don't enter at all even in a group without an experienced guide.

Is he intelligent for a 24 year old?
Sure, based on my viewing of the first 2.5 minutes of his presentation

I am still disturbed by this case, and wanted to review everything known about Kenny's disappearance, again. You do more than an excellent job when narrating and telling the person's story. Also with respect and kindness, which is especially refreshing in this day and age. Thank you for all of that. I think I understand Kenny and his motivations fairly well, although I didn't know him personally. Kenny was an extremely honest man, who did not fib and tell lies. I think it hurt his ego and his soul a great deal, when the experience that he had at M cave, was disbelieved by some people, and they let him know that in their comments. I believe Kenny was a sensitive soul and man, who found much solace in being outdoors with Nature. I also believe in the veracity of his girlfriend, who stated in her own post, about Kenny likely leaving on his hike, and not ever planning to come back. He was in a difficult place, in his mind, and possibly financially as well. He wanted peace, but most of all, he wanted, and needed to be believed. I lost my own father to suicide, so know the signs, as well as the lifelong grief that is soon to follow. The cell phone left at the mineshaft is a huge clue. So is the camera, left at home. Rest in eternal peace, Kenny Veach.

I've followed this story for a few years now and my theory about what happened has changed over time. As you mentioned, his channel was not monetised, his artwork wasn't really selling, he was running out of money and he may have had mental health issues. The Kenny we see in that video was really alive when he was out in the desert or mountains, when he was close to nature. It seemed to mean so much more to him than any of his other interests, such as UFOs. With everything going on, Kenny was obviously heading for a turning point in his life, he was on the downward slide to 50, about to have to face the fact his dream of running his own craft business had failed and he would soon have to find a mundane job just to pay his bills. On the day he filmed that last video, he may have headed out there determined to prove his claims, but while out there in the desert, a place he truly loved, maybe he had an epiphany and realised that non of it really mattered. It must have dawned on him that even if he found the cave, there was no way it could ever be spectacular or eery enough to satisfy the nay-sayers, and he wasn't even in a position to make some money from it. He's at that turning point, right there and then, and so maybe he left his phone by the mine shaft on the way back, with no real intention of ever heading back out. Maybe he just wanted to start fresh and left everything behind. It seems unthinkable and yet people do it, and it's less drastic than suicide. Maybe in the aftermath he saw all the commotion on the internet and wrote that letter from the "girlfriend" (as you say, he was a good writer and their style is quite similar) as a way of saying "Leave it be, Kenny is gone" because he has left that life behind and wants to be left alone now. I'd prefer to think he's out there somewhere living happily away from prying eyes under an assumed name, surrounded by nature and feeling at peace.

    • @Flichter
      @Flichter 6 месяцев назад

The last video he uploaded was months before he disappeared lol so he definitely didn't leave his cell phone at the mine shaft at that time.
The cell phone left at the mine shaft is the key to me, clearly indicating that's where Kenny went, down into the mineshaft to die.
The cell phone is a hint for searchers without being totally obvious, like a test to see if anyone really loved or cared about Kenny? If they did, they'd find the cell phone clue and refuse to stop until they located him, which is down in the mine shaft.
If no one took the hint and explored the shaft? Oh well, his disappearance would remain a mystery and even that was better than dying a nobody, that nobody cares about and nobody remembers.

There is a very easy explanation for this. The cave was on the base and the feelings he experienced were an Area Denial System that was being used to keep people out of an area. When he came back for the 2nd time, he was armed and paranoid, which led him to draw on an MP when confronted. He got shot, and the MP dropped his phone in a cave to prevent tracking, and the body in a deeper cave, in an effort to avoid the scandal.

I was a weird kid. 😅 But yeah, going to explore this cave is definitely one of the things I'd consider a worthy End of the Line Adventure if I was at all feeling at that point. The only thing that doesn't add up for me is him leaving his camera behind, as even if he'd been planning to just find a nice spot to put his gun to use, recording his last trip, and a goodbye message for friends/family, would make more sense for a guy who seems like his death wish was the "rational" and thought-out kind. He was still enjoying life, but the life he enjoyed wasn't sustainable in this society. I guess if he really enjoyed losing toenails, that's his business. But it seems like he was really careless. Your toenails shouldn't fall off after walking. I've spent a lot of time hiking and have never had issues like that. He probably should have seen a doctor. But all in all, it really feels like it was just a story. People tend to make up stories to feel more important. Particularly if they don't have friends.

Yeah that part and other parts sound really made up. Nobody plays with rattlesnakes like that on hikes. Realistically nobody could carry three days worth of water for a hike like that. He just doesn't sound like any desert hiker I've ever hiked with. The stuff he described that sounds realistic (pinion tree and tarantula) could have been right next to where he parked his truck.

I was once in a cave in NM called Big Skylight Cave. This cave leads to a system with many branches that go for miles. My friends and I had been in the cave maybe 3 hours and we got to the end of a branch of the cave. For some reason, at this spot, we all split up and explored different parts of the cave. I cant explain what happened but I stayed in this spot I went into a sort of trance and I heard faint music coming out of this tiny cave entrance. It was about 2' x 1'. I immediately climbed in. The cave was so tight that i had to keep my arms by my side and wiggle like a worm using my mostly useless arms and feet. I wiggled down this tiny tunnel on my back about 50' until I came to a spot where it bent 90° to go straight up. This whole time I was following this faint music. I couldnt even describe the music now. When I looked up I could see another cave at the top with light in it. The music was coming from here.
At this point its like my rational mind took control again because I couldnt figure out how to maneuver my body to make this 90° bend upwards in such a tight space.
I calmly wiggled backwards pulling myself with my heels a few inches at a time until I popped out this tiny hole and my friends were there asking where the hell I'd been. I think I laughed and told them I had been exploring that tiny side cave. I didn't tell them about the music or act scared because it would take us at least a couple hours to get out of the cave and I didnt want to scare them on the outward journey back to camp.
We headed back, past the underground icicles, explored more side tunnels and eventually came out. We were in that cave over 8 hours. The thing is is that this cave was in El Malpais and when we got out the cave it was night time. This area has such magnetic fluctuations affecting compasses that airplanes arent allowed to fly over it so you cant trust compasses. Also there arent trails because the ground is basalt lava flows, so you follow cairns of rocks, which are invisible at night. Luckily I know my constellations plus I had hung chem lights at our camp (which was one of the only patches of exposed dirt suitable to put tents) so I was able to navigate us straight back to camp.
People actually disappear there in the El Malpais every now and then. No sign is ever found of these people.
And that night/morning after we got back to camp, a skinwalker visited one of my buddies when he went to take a whizz. He did the same thing I'd done and didn't mention it until we were home because he didnt want to scare us.
This was back in like 2009 or something but knowing what I know now about Missing 411 and how dangerous that area is, its pretty chilling.

To me it really sounds like Kenny decided he was gonna take one last attempt at finding the M cave at come back if he found it, but was unsuccessful and decided to commit suicide while he was out there. He had already lost most of his money and as you said, didn't want to go back to working a normal job. He was probably hoping that whatever he found in the cave would give him a new purpose, but ultimately just succumbed to the wilderness
