Just to let everyone know that Jumper Home who made the tent was sadly killed in a mountain accident in August. My thoughts are with his friends and family at this time and is a sad loss to the outdoor community :(
Brilliant Video. I have to say I’ve watched your films all through the pandemic, and particularly when it was very stressful times, they really helped me relax and think of enjoying nature. You have a brilliant presenting style and are a great ambassador to your country. Thank You. Jeff.
I camped up near the top of Beinn Ime on the bank holiday weekend a few weeks ago. A lovely spot with amazing views and we had great weather! A bit of a trek coming up from Ardgarten and past the Cobbler on the way up though. Had a great evening but got pretty cold at night, need to invest in a warmer and much lighter sleeping bag and some other lighter kit but was just using old stuff I already have as just starting out (lightweight kit is pretty expensive). Despite only getting a few hours sleep I enjoyed it greatly and can't wait to get out in the hills again! Cheers for the quality content Ray, keep it coming!
Another great video Ray. Re the damp sleeping bag. I sometimes pull a thin bin bag up just over the end of the bag if I'm in a tent that lets it brush on the inner.
Nice one Ray , pity about the clag but still good to be out mate ..Good to see other RUclipsrs meeting up.. I just watched Andrews version too..cheers Stevie
Great video, as per always! Yes the foot box getting wet is a big issue for extended trips. I had to change tent due to that exact issue on my thru hike of the Southern Upland Way in November last year. It rained solidly for 15 days, so could never dry my kit outside, and the down was just getting ruined. So that’s now a dealbreaker for me in a tent it must be said!
Nice one ray I weren't to far other side of rest and be thankfull last tues weather was horrendous aborted went back this Mon. it was gorgeous mad weather .
I think the Zpacks Altiplex would be the ideal pyramid tent for you Ray....Itll probably be my first such shelter anyway but I'm 6ft 2 so ....anyway keep the reviews and wild camps coming as there're not only entertaining but useful for reference etc too, ATB Mark :)
Great vlog - recognised the hil behind you at the start - a great mountain . Nice wee route up this side of the hill too - went up and through to Arrochar from Butterbridge a few years ago. So refreshing going up the quieter side of mountains. You made the fence crossing look easy (I know it’s not !!) lol. Great vlog and catch up soon mate ATB M PS what was the wee whisky you had ?
Interesting Ray! I loved the fence shot! Treated myself to some new kit...I got the STS extreme pad and a enlightened equipment quilt! Cany wait to try them..cheers Paul
Nice one ray. I was up that was Saturday passed by Sunday on my way to Galloway. Tent looks ok not convinced like you the vent is a bit concerning. Good job with the deer fence 😂 😂 when you said “andrew park has a…..” I shouted “Disease” 😂 😂 aye. Good to see you out in the hills 👍
Great video as always Ray. The tent looks decent. Although I have to admit I’m not a huge fan of the single skin tents. I have the Lunar solo, which I will be selling for this reason. Great camp and vid as always. ATB, Craig
Not sure on title as it is a serial number. Bought some paid music to avoid copyrights and as such. If you subscribe to services such as Tubebuddy you also get free music from Epidemic sounds as a perk. Atb
Still in two minds. There is benefits to both systems. Main thing is if it is large enough to stop your sleeping bag touching the flysheet and absorbing any condensation. Many people then use a thin bivvy bag to overcome that problem and in that case might as well have an inner tent. Downside to an inner like with my Duomid is having to set it up which takes a bit of time. Not clear cut mate. Atb
Hi Ray, liked the video, the fence was a classic though, been there ha! what was your settings for the timelapse iv'e got 3 cameras that have the function but never knew what to set it too. Atb Will.
I use the free version of Davinci Resolve. Looks complex but once you watch a few YT videos on how to use it I find it easier than some paid stuff I had used for years. Atb
Great video! I'm thinking of getting those Fjallraven trekking tights, just wondering how long you've had them, do you use them all the year round and are they worth the money? They're obviously good for climbing fences lol. Hope you had a wee dram later. Cheers
I have had this pair for about 3 years and you will see the same pair in my older films. They have held up well with no damage or repairs yet. My go to for the majority of the year and use as my thermal layer in winter under my salopettes. Atb
Looked a great location Ray , 2 of YTs top tent gurus on one hill lol ... Jury still out on the tent ? Single skin is always gonna get the end of the bag damp unless use a bivvi, which I suppose defeats the object . TFS atb Dave
Another great video, thanks 👍. Although I find it odd, that the tent receives a positive review, after it's wet your sleep system and leaks through the vents. I suppose this is our culture nowadays, to save a few grams 🤔
It performed well in the conditions and the points I made are not as bad as they seem, there where just small drops of water. Any single wall shelter like that you will most likely end up with a wet sleeping bag, just the nature of the setup. That's why you will see many use a thin bivvy bag to protect there sleeping bag. It was great in the high winds and with the rain bombing down later there was no other water ingress. As matter of fact I thought the condensation issue would be 10x times worse than it was. There are some tweaks that can be made and have spoken to the manufacturer, so watch this space. Atb
