I have been using the Motorola MA1 for 3 months and wanted to share my experience and tips. This device turns your wired Android Auto (AA) to wireless AA in any car that supports wired AA. I also discuss how to add apps (which includes Waze and RUclips music) to Android auto.
Check out these devices that will turn WIRED Android Auto into WIRELESS Android Auto

Just noticed, on sale right now on Amazon! If you were thinking about buying check out link in description.
For anyone new to this, this device basically is a virtual USB cable. It's like plugging your Android phone in wirelessly. That's all it does, the good thing is now you aren't stuck with slow charging, easy access for wireless charging or mounts, or having to take your phone or your pocket.
Great description!
💯. But sadly it won't work for me
Thanks again so far my a wireless is working good it did download the update finally and it is working because now you can and car streamer car tube and screen to Auto and it does work so very happy for this product thank you
Glad to hear it!
2:40 right there. I was under the impression that it can make apple play and convert it into android auto. My Toyota corolla 2020 doesn't have android auto. you just saved me $100. Thank you.
Great! I am glad that the video was helpful and thanks for updating me!
Any car that has Apple car play has android auto, it's not one or the other.
@Samuel Collado tell that to a 2020 toyota corolla.
@@williamruiz26 I have one, take it to Toyota and have them do a software update. You'll have both
Can 3 drivers connect their phones to the device?
is there any lag compared to wireed connection? what about sound quality? is it diffrent?
I have a kia sportage with a note 10 plus and s21. I have not had any lag and sound quality sounds the same to me with wireless connection.
Only initial setup is over Bluetooth. Once you have it set up the device will connect using Wi-Fi there is a little bit of lag but only in the initial startup of the device once it is running and you're using Android Auto using the device you cannot tell the difference mainly because, like I said, it runs over Wi-Fi.
There's no noticiable lag, it's like the wired connection.
how does woek work when two phones which are paired with MA1 are in the car sam time?
The first one that was set up takes priority. But just hit button on side to toggle to a different phone.
Headunit need to have built carplay??
This device is only for Android Auto, but yes it needs to already support wired Android Auto.
I can't connect the second phone, can't find specific instructions on how to. Any idea what might be wrong?
The second phone is connected the same way the first one was. But when connecting the 2nd phone, make sure the first phone is not connected at all- turn off bluetooth and wifi to keep it from interfering. The first one connected will always be the default, so if both phones are in the car the first will connect. Press the button to change to the 2nd. The second phone also needs to have been connected with wire first. Hope that helps.
Im on my second one. And its doing the same thing as the last one. After about 3 to 6 months it juat stops working. I master reaet it. Forgot all bluetooth and its doesnt do anything. Re pair it and it pair's, then just keeps flashing slow green
That happens to me sometimes, something doesn't sync right. What works for me is just unplugging device from car and replugging, then it syncs again and works. Sorry it's not an easy fix for you. Maybe it's a quality control issue??
Does it work with after market decks?
If your wired android auto works then this one will. Some new decks come with wireless AA so you may not need this, check first.
I have Kia forte gt 2022 doesn't work de MA1 what's the problem?
That is not a lot of information to go on. But here are some tips that might help.
You have to set up WIRED android auto with your phone first. Also need to have your phone connected with bluetooth.
If you are able to set up wired android auto then the issue is not the car.
The MA 1 is basically just a pass through device, so no settings to change there.
In the below videos I go though phone set up steps. one important one is to make sure that your bluetooth and wifi are set to auto scan/ connect.

Does the wired connection work?.
Is there firmware update available???
There is no companion app or way to update the device. It only functions as a pass through basically. Android Auto will show up on your car screen without any modification. A major android auto update is coming real soon.
Also I just reviewed TWO more devices that turn WIRED android auto to WIRELESS. And one of them also does it for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay in same device! There is no way to update the other devices either, they also just function as pass through. Thanks for watching.
I wish like hell it would work for me. I thought my first one must have just been a dud, so I bought another one. Now I have two of these things that absolutely will not connect. I have watched so many videos, and I'm no dummy. I'm doing everything that everyone else is doing, but it just will not connect. So frustrating.
Sorry it is not working for you. Sounds like you probably already tried everything. I reviewed other wireless devices, but not sure they would fare better. Could it be a car issue?
I don't think so. I saw a couple other videos where it hooked up to a truck just like mine. I'm sure it is some stupid setting on my phone or something. Plus I tried hooking it up to my brother car. 🤷♂️
Can the firmware be updated?
No. There is no app to update. But when android auto updates your display will update. This is just a pass through device.
Does wheel controls work?
I can't promise it but they should. They should have the same functionality as they do when the wired Android Auto is active. When you press the voice command button, Google assistant should turn on instead of your car voice input.
The MA1 only changes one thing: the way your phone connects to your car. If your wheel controls work with your wired android auto, they will work with wireless android auto.
From the car's perspective, it's just another wired android auto device.
Mine stopped working while I was driving and now the Bluetooth and wifi emitted from the device do not even work
Sorry to hear that. If you haven't already done it, try hard reset by holding the button for like 45 seconds. Reach out to Motorola, maybe they would replace it.
Can you please show us how yo reset
Easy, just hold the only bottom for about 45 seconds or until light turns red.
Mine dongle doesn't shows any blue light this just shows only white solid light
I have Kia Optima 2017m with android auto, wired working without issue, but when I connect motorola ma1 my car can't see that adapter and android auto icon not active.
That happened to me when I connected a new phone. I restarted the phone and unplugged the MA1. Then replugged the MA1 in after the phone was connected to the car (through bluetooth). Also make sure that your phone's bluetooth is viewable to other devices.
I know it's been too long from this video, but have anyone figured out if there's any fix to avoid disconnecting when driving through zones with wireless interference like buildings and that?
My daily commute has like 3 or 4 places that will restart the device and it's annoying 😢
It is annoying, but there is no one way to stop that. It happens with all the wired to wireless converting devices, not just this one. Sorry.
@@techgadgets100 thank you for your response after all this time! We'll I guess I'll try to get used to it
Used mine for the 1st time this week, 5 hr drive was absolutely brilliant but then it stopped working and lost connection and wouldn't reconnect
Rarely, this happens to me, something just doesn't sync up right. Sounds stupid, but unplug the Motorola MA-1 and plug it back it after the car has started and connected to your phone. Some cars have a setting you can toggle on so that Android Auto automatically starts. It also could be a bad device...
Mines cooked I've tried unplugging it resetting it etc and still nothing
It was sooo hot
Yes, a hot device is not good. At least you know it was not a software or connection issue...
Purchased mine 6/2023... quit working 2/2023. Have troubleshot, removed from BT, etc. Disappointing.
I assume you meant 2024. Did you try contacting Motorola or where you bought it from, maybe there is some coverage? Sorry about that.
That's taking a stupidly long time to boot up.
Not my experience, not sure if there's new firmware on latest devices. But even so, you need to think about something: my car turns the USB ports off while off. When I open the car and the infotainment system is booting up, while it's booting up the USB ports are powered up. So the MA1 starts booting up before my head unit is fully up and running. Once the headunit is operational, the MA1 has already booted up and the connection is made. Normally, it takes less than 10 seconds from the head unit is up and running until Android Auto is running.
I was not expecting that.
But again, mine does not take that long if started once the car is running.
Hello. When i want to conect with wifi it ask for password
You should not need a password. You have to set up Android Auto through a wired setting first and pair your phone with the car through BT. When I paired this to a new phone it was not working right but I reset device and plugged it in as if for first time then the wifi automatically showed up on phone. Is your phone detecting another wifi? The motorola MA1 will generate a wifi name of "android auto-xxxx". Hope that helps!
Spero possa aiutare.
My head unit has android auto, but it is greyed out. It will only let me select it once i have a connection.
Plugging in the ma1 it says on my phone that there is android auto, but ut is still greyed out on my head unit 😊
Its hard to diagnose from this distance but it could be that your phone is not picking up the wifi signal that is created by the MA1. I am assuming that it is paired and connected properly through bluetooth because it shows that it has a connection but you need to scan and select the wifi- you only need to do that for the first time. If all else fails, unplug and replug the MA1- you will not need to pair it again- and restart your phone. Hope that helps!
