I litterally needed this right when it came out
And I am glad the video found you at the right time! Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks Nick, you cheer me up so much even though I can't sleep 🙏
You're very welcome Beau! I am glad the video helpful 🙂
Oh boy, a video from Nick about sleep, and I'm about to watch it at 3:30 AM because I always stay up late. Very fitting!
That's what I like to see Godot!
Great topic, Nick. Here, I'll contribute...
Arnold Schwarzenegger says to sleep faster - 6 hours max. Vince McMahon sleeps 4 hours a night. Martha Stewart four hours a night. Yes, sleep is important but not as important as "the sleep industry" scares us into believing.
100% Anthony! It's key to highlight this as many people spend their entire lives trying to control something they cannot.
This is on point! For those suffering here, I definitely recommend insomnia coach podcast
Thanks Robbie!
Obsession about being healthy is un happy unhealthy life. I had it about the sun and sunscreen use. I no longer re apply too often or worry about wearing it indoors as frequently. Especially if I’m not near a window much.
Well done! Need to get used to not wearing it at all indoors.
@@OCDRecoveryI get what you mean however, it just is a hygiene habit. UVA rays still age us inside lol! Sounds vain I know😂 I’m glad I just don’t worry anymore so it’s more a non thinking thing which is no longer obsessive
Swallowing ocd sucks balls it's so loud before going to bed. Like, I'm having a good day, I have anxiety yes, but I congratulated myself on the things I was able to do even when Im sleep deprived. I'm looking forward to the nighttime and finally sleep. Then poof. I suddenly remember about the swallowing ocd and there it is again Dx. Can't sleep. It's 2am and I'm wide awake even when I didn't get much sleep the past few days.
On the upside. I've had sleep anxiety in my early 20s and it kinda had me in a grip about needing 7-8 hours of sleep each night to function and I was strict with bedtime hygiene.
Welp, now with OCD, those hygienes don't seem to care about the swallowing reflex right before bed and causing me a sleepless night. So maybe it's better to just accept I should just forget about sleep and try to survive until my body shuts down or something.
I think this video helps a lot with that and I can relate to what you are saying as well. First you need to conquer the idea that having this OCD affects your life in any way, you can learn this the easy way or the hard way but eventually you will learn. You need to get comfortable with the idea of sleeping less and you need to get comfortable with the idea of swallowing or having any bodily sensations in bed too, I find that meditation helps a lot with seeing these things as they are and seeing the result of having certain thoughts and the feelings that come with it. The fear itself of sleeping less/having OCD whilst in bed is an illusion and we just need to take it as it is and get comfortable with it and accept it. Life is always changing and we need to change with it and stop adhering to whatever rules or fears we have built in our mind. This idea of the "self" (the idea that our world revolves only around us and what we are going through) or being perfect is an illusion that we can always choose to believe or reject. What I mean by that is rather than agreeing with whatever intrusive thought comes in our mind or even trying to fight it, we can just see it as it is, a thought. In order to be in harmony with reality, we need to always be open to our struggles and most importantly open to change, because the world is always changing. This is a lifelong journey and I encourage you to dig deep within yourself and reflect on what your fears are, learn self compassion and reanalyze your self worth and try to align them more with the world we live in. Good luck to you, your struggles will teach you a lot about yourself so don't run away from them.
I’ve often had a can of monster and easily fell asleep at night lol
I can absolutely relate to that Dylan lol!
Haha that's a nice cute thumbnail out there
