Ben, regarding african in Malaysia. - the prejudice about them is NOT due to their skin colour. Some of Malaysians (Malay and Indian) can have darker skin colour than them and we don't have any problem with that. It is due to our bad experience when they first come into the country back in the 90s. They created their own communities in local housing areas, got drunk in public, loud parties until late at night (inside and outside their houses) disturbing the neighbours, disrespectful and disturbing the local women. Police report were made multiple times. There were one occasions were the local community has to group together and confront them. Things might improve nowadays (regarding the African communities in Malaysia) but the locals are still very cautious. (Those incidences involved african from one specific country - not all Africans). - Dark skin colour is never a problem in Malaysia. Back in the 70s, 80s we have a local description of "hitam manis" which is a compliment to darker skin individuals. Not sure whether it is still used now. Back in the 80s we even have an ads tag which say "Hitam Itu Menawan" (Black is Attractive). - Anyone who claimed to be treated differently because of their skin colour must look at their own self (ie : attitude, body language, voice volume (we dislike loud people), the way you dress etc). Just my personal feedback.
"Anyone who claimed to be treated differently because of their skin colour must look at their own self (ie : attitude, body language, voice volume (we dislike loud people), the way you dress etc)." That exactly come into my mind because we don't really treat people differently because of colour. We Malaysian have quite wide range of colour ourselves. true. i rented my apartment to african and i need to repair when moved out about rm8k. many other people have bad experience from african. in addition we always read in the news about african scammer
My sentiment exactly. The different treatment to people from Africa is not because of skin color but definitely because of the African's behaviours when they first came to Malaysia. Also, the earliest scammers in the world since 1990s were from Nigeria and other African states. Malaysians are definitely more friendly and helpful. If there is contra to this,, it is because of the behaviors of the other people.
This my personal experience as a Malaysian, i got a neighbor who is renting as a student, and i think they are probably Nigerian in the early 2000. They are loud, drunk, parties and smashing things around the neighborhood. To the point we always have to call cops alot. However, i also got a good friend from Kenya. Honestly, for us to be good friend it takes us sometime, bcoz of my skeptical and prejudice due to the bad experience. To us, if you come to our country and respect the culture, the neighbor, we will do the same. It's got nothing with skin color. I also got bad experience from middle eastern man, so, it does left with a bad taste. Not, about the skin color
About black people. I think if there is a kind of prejudice towards them, it is not because of their skin color but because of the stigma that has been created by some Africans who came here to operate the so-called Nigerian scams etc. And these people do not naturally carry a friendly vibe. They have bad reputations among grab drivers and landlords. For us, all black people look the same. So, that is too bad.
Thanks for highlighting the sh17 brains of some of our people here lol...anyways, people should learn to be prejudiced of everyone, not just people of African descent. Locals here are worse than international scammers anyway. So yes, if we can get rid of this crap of thoughts as in your comments, then I think we're Malaysian enough to return to our hospitality. Otherwise, might as well telanjang Bogel to show solidarity towards our human rights. No offense, not against you, but the words you typed on comment clearly says much about dirty minded people in our country. We're educated enough and adult enough to think this overt discrimination has to stop.
This is a good topic. And yes it is absolutely true. If we rank countries in the world on the basis of "friendly", then definitely Malaysia will be in the TOP 1-3 positions. Malaysian people (all of their races) are very sensible, friendly, and welcoming. It is very shocking to see this type of "good humans" in the world nowadays. Other countries have all become aggressive, selfish & even harsh. Malaysia for some reason has saved itself from the "bad & aggressive" western values but still retains its freedom, softness & human values. For me i would rank Malaysian people as #1 in the world on friendliness! Good job Malaysia. Keep it up!
My experience with KL / Malaysia is limited, just 1 week back in April, but it was very positive. Very welcoming, kind, and helpful if asking for assistance. Can't wait to go back.

There is some truth in what the Italian guy said…but the circumstances might be different..not so much as to the skin colour but more towards the attitude and behaviour of the person matters to the Malaysians…basicly Malaysians are respectfull of guests coming into the country and ask for the same…A bit of history for you Ben…we used to have influx of African students coming into the country for further studies in the late 90s..under student visas..but then there were cases of fraud and vices by these so called ‘students’…lots of complaints from residents too due to their unbecoming behaviour which painted a negative perceptions by the locals …i know it was silly to paint all black people with the same brush…but then Malaysians are in general i would say very timid and reserved as a nation..we dont create problems while visiting other countries…you can ask the Saudi Arabian for example which have high regards for Malaysian being so discipline and follow the country rules.. Nevertheless to my black friends , dont worry nowaday , we just forget and forgive and we just welcome everyone.

If we're a good bunch and respectful, we're doing our nationality proud. If we behave badly, it'll definitely leave a bad after taste and bad reputation to the rest of the world. In this case, it's just sad that the black skinned people(especially African countries) are being treated differently due to their bad reputation as scammers and drug related crimes in Malaysia. Hi Ben, nice interviews. I think you should do some local food recommendations as well.. food can attract lots of viewers including travellers from around the world..
Actually one of the reasons why people here are little bit sceptical about blacks from Africa is because there have been a lot of cases of scam involving them. Maybe only a small percentage involved but Malaysian feel that they got to always be careful with these kind of men. These scam cases were always highlighted in the main stream media so it gives a not so nice perception about these blacks of African origin
Great content, keep posting! Since you mentioned Borneo, particularly Sabah, let me suggest some places you might want to consider. If you're into nature, rainforests, and wildlife rehabilitation, I recommend visiting Tawau and Sandakan. These areas are more focused on nature tourism than modern tourism, so there's not much to do in the cities themselves. It’s primarily about experiencing the natural surroundings and wildlife, but be prepared for mosquitoes. These places are not ideal for business interviews, as most visitors come for nature, and the tourists are mostly Europeans and Australians. If you're into crystal-clear water, white sandy islands, scuba diving, and water bungalows, you should consider Semporna. However, be careful when choosing an agency. The town can get quite busy and is a bit smelly due to its focus on sea activities. While you can do street interviews, it may be a challenge because most visitors are from China, and they might not want to be on camera. Additionally, many don’t speak fluent English. For a beautiful sunset and large malls, Kota Kinabalu is the place to be. The city attracts a lot of foreigners, especially from Korea, and they are generally friendly. However, some may not speak English fluently and tend to have a distinct accent. Kota Kinabalu is also close to the majestic Mount Kinabalu-a must-see if you have the time. If you want to experience the northernmost tip of Borneo, you can also visit the Tip of Borneo for a breathtaking view. One thing to note: don’t be offended by the local Sabahan accent. The tone can sound quite aggressive, but trust me, it's just the way they speak-locals are very friendly! For context, the East Coast of Sabah is home to maritime communities, while the West Coast is home to inland communities (or hinterland communities). So, don’t be surprised if you see different cultures and customs in different regions. Kota Kinabalu, however, is a melting pot, like a mini Kuala Lumpur, where people from all over come to work and holiday. Sabah is a very diverse state with 16 indigenous groups known as Bumiputera Anak Negeri Sabah, but in total, there are 32 different ethnic groups. It’s a state rich in cultural diversity, with a mix of religions, languages, and skin tones.
Before covid ,we have many Africans here. They live in luxurious lifestyle and how they behave like king and I myself drive grab car had experienced with them very bad...as compared with westerners white, Chinese,Arabs and Japanese, they are all good to local and lovely.
Well done Malaysians! To the Aussie guy, I actually find Aussies to be similar to Malaysians lol. I call Aussies the white Malaysians 🤭 Very chill people just louder and more expressive (and more drunk 😅) They are a relax one corner sorta people and the Aussies I meet are always really nice too but sometimes I can’t tell if it’s genuine as they love their sarcasm 😅 I don’t get sarcasm because I feel underneath the sarcasm is always truth, otherwise how do you come up with the sarcasm? It doesn’t come from nowhere. Malaysian hospitality though is another level and you always know they are genuine and not putting on a front, be it good or bad. This is why MY is #1!
IMHO, interviewing foreigners on camera can elicit a very different answer compared to in-cognito. The downside of in-cognito; it will bring out the trolls disputing the answers.
As Malaysian we didn't prejudice with black people/ African.. but some of them has create an stigma for us to think negative about them.. not all but most of them was involved with things that Malaysian doesn't like..
As Malaysian living in Malaysia 😆 (am not foreigner), i find people in my country to be comfortable.. i mean at my place that i live in, if i need help or something i can just ask people and they’d be concern. At least thats my experience. I even came home from overseas last time; the moment i step back in KLIA, i be fuh, comfortable. Well maybe i say this cause i m local. But yes, Malaysian people’s vibes are friendly.
Bro, I think one of the reason is to do with Hollywood movies and how they used to portray black people, black men especially. Reminded me when I was studying in the UK, my Malaysian room mate was about to graduate his family went to stay with us. His auntie was totally scare of a black person, she never met one, she never travelled outside of Malaysia. I asked my room mate, he told me due to watching too many movies. And in Hollywood too, white Americans, Europeans, Australians are always portrayed as the hero, except if you are from Germany and Russia.
We have like every skin color you could ever imagine here as citizens now and we are used to it for sometimes..so no worries about being stared at...just be kind and nice and the locals would definitely be friendly to you
I'm exploring the possibility of moving to Malaysia with the fam. We are looking at the mm2h programme which is a bit confusing. Are there any other options? Do you happen to know anyone that know about migrations and/or help with the process?
There are African RUclipsrs who travel or work in a foreign countries and are having fun (several in Malaysia). Then there are some who kept remind themselves that they are 'black' and put the black test and claim to experience racism. I travelled extensively in Europe and lived for a long time in the US, I hardly face any racism, maybe because I don't look for it. I know some Malaysian who claims some racism in Europe, but I also know they don't usually carry themselves well.
Agree. Malaysians are the most friendly and beautiful people whichever country they live. I have neighbours from China and Sri Lanka. They are snobbish, unfriendly, rude and cold people. Although they have lived next doors to me for the past 10 years, they have not said "hello" to me. When they walked passed my house, despite saying "hello" x3, they just ignored me!!
Advice to foreigners of whatever colors: whatever problems you have in your homeland, let it stay in your homeland, we don't care. We have different politics, different interests, different mindset and nuances. Do not bring your issues to us.
Due to bad experiences (crimes), some foreign communities are treated differently. Hence, being respectful to locals, reciprocately, they will respected and welcome.
We do our best to be hypocrite as good as we can in front of foreigners so they could labelling us to be among friendliest country in the world in future😂
I'm not elaborating much here just one point that made we Malaysian cautions towards Black people were the " Black Money Scamm" around 2005 - 2008? Can't remember the exact time. Ironically i befriended with few Nigerian businessmen in 2012 till 2017 setting up an Advertising On LED around KL. So it proved that it wasn't skin rather its how they carry themselves. They were a true and genuine businessmen back then that without prejudice i decided to do business with them.
3:20 Goosebumps to me as a Malaysian, actually we dont aware that we are friendly people..we thought we are worst racists people and hate each others..

Nice topic Ben 👍😊 . Agree, mostly Malaysian are friendly. If not friendly, they probably shy to talk..
Hi Ben, nice interviews. I think you should do some local food recommendations as well.. food can attract lots of viewers including travellers from around the world..
He has diabetes, so he must be selective about his diet. This is why he doesn't do food reviews.
Nice Video. Thank you so much Ben! 🤩
Keep doing this Ben, loves to see more of these... Tks A lot.
Malaysian pm is very much powerful person..
"can't breathe in Dubai".. that tell a lot!!..
terengganu also great place to go.lots gems place to discover and very beautiful island.❤
Hi from Kuala Lumpur Malaysia👋. Great video❤. Thanks so much👍.
The italian guy is so genuine. He's definitely a good guy
Wow...your channel is next level it's interesting to see

Getting better Ben 👏
Hi Ben, Mauri here
Before covid ,we have many Africans here. They live in luxurious lifestyle and how they behave like king and I myself drive grab car had experienced with them very bad...as compared with westerners white, Chinese,Arabs and Japanese, they are all good to local and lovely.
Malaysia is polite in their behave but not language…. As Malaysian, I confirm this. 😂😂
Well done Ben...keep it up buddy !
Well done Malaysians!
To the Aussie guy, I actually find Aussies to be similar to Malaysians lol. I call Aussies the white Malaysians 🤭
Very chill people just louder and more expressive (and more drunk 😅)
They are a relax one corner sorta people and the Aussies I meet are always really nice too but sometimes I can’t tell if it’s genuine as they love their sarcasm 😅
I don’t get sarcasm because I feel underneath the sarcasm is always truth, otherwise how do you come up with the sarcasm? It doesn’t come from nowhere.
Malaysian hospitality though is another level and you always know they are genuine and not putting on a front, be it good or bad. This is why MY is #1!
You are a good ambassador for Malaysia Ben.
One of the best interviews Ben
IMHO, interviewing foreigners on camera can elicit a very different answer compared to in-cognito.
The downside of in-cognito; it will bring out the trolls disputing the answers.
Hey Dato Ben, at the rate u r doing your job, Malaysia is getting richer. by the day. Teresa kaseh.
Well, Ben seems like one of those genuinely friendly folks you can easily warm up to if you see him on the streets.
The Czech guy must be about 7 feet tall
These people all have great vibes 👍🏼
As Malaysian we didn't prejudice with black people/ African.. but some of them has create an stigma for us to think negative about them.. not all but most of them was involved with things that Malaysian doesn't like..
Congratulations to come to Malaysia
As Malaysian living in Malaysia 😆 (am not foreigner), i find people in my country to be comfortable.. i mean at my place that i live in, if i need help or something i can just ask people and they’d be concern. At least thats my experience. I even came home from overseas last time; the moment i step back in KLIA, i be fuh, comfortable. Well maybe i say this cause i m local. But yes, Malaysian people’s vibes are friendly.
I LOVE THIS ITALIAN GUY ..🥰
Waw Ben ♧you done good interview with interesting topics 🤔 let's explore ahead 🌆
And in Hollywood too, white Americans, Europeans, Australians are always portrayed as the hero, except if you are from Germany and Russia.
i went to Brisbane and people are very helpful and very friendly. I am dark.
Ben..you should trying watch football match.. selangor match or johor match..and u will feel the awesome atmosphere
Mauri! Bravo!
Maybe you should watch this youtuber from America andrew taylor. He is in mm2h and currently living in Malaysia
The sleeveless guy is the man.
Agree. Malaysians are the most friendly and beautiful people whichever country they live. I have neighbours from China and Sri Lanka. They are snobbish, unfriendly, rude and cold people. Although they have lived next doors to me for the past 10 years, they have not said "hello" to me. When they walked passed my house, despite saying "hello" x3, they just ignored me!!
when elder person do the comparison..no other comment to add 😅..anyway Ben thank you for promoting othe state including Sabah Sarawak 😘😘😘
Great content! 👍🏻
Advice to foreigners of whatever colors: whatever problems you have in your homeland, let it stay in your homeland, we don't care. We have different politics, different interests, different mindset and nuances. Do not bring your issues to us.
Thanks Ben.
Due to bad experiences (crimes), some foreign communities are treated differently. Hence, being respectful to locals, reciprocately, they will respected and welcome.
In Malaysia, everybody is the same. White, Black Brown green yellow or whatever colour you maybe. Have fun!!!!!
did you guys notice some of the guests made this "🙏" gesture ? That was surprising to me.
Thanks Ben. Wunderbar.
Thank you Mr Ben?
he is truly a diplomat =D
Now i want ask ben, which one is more green, Kuala lumpur or Kota Kinabalu
Hi Ben, did you get the Italian guys contact info? Seems like a good guy to know!
Yea his name is Maurizio and his IG is @my.master.man
I hope the couple from Leeds come and retire here in Malaysia. It would be awesome for them both!
Most Malaysians are friendly probably because they are so used to multi-etchnic multi racial community living together harmoniously...
Of course the Italian gentleman loves malaysia…save a lot on clothing & wardrobe, we can wear the same cloth year round….
😊😊
I'm proud to be malaysians
Are we polite, well mannered due to our Malaysian culture or are we actually friendly?
We do our best to be hypocrite as good as we can in front of foreigners so they could labelling us to be among friendliest country in the world in future😂
Boleh tahan lah friendly
Hey Ben. Do you have contact details on the italian man ? I really wanna know about the community he said. I found interesting to hear more about it.
Hey his IG is @my.master.man you can send him a DM 🙌
As a Malaysian, generally friendly, except on the road rushing to work in a massive jam. 😂 (unless there's an ambulance / police needing a path way)
There r students in madressa from Kyrgyzstan
Good job Ben. Malaysia welcomes you all n we locaks should be friendly to everyones ..including tourists or foreigners
Hiya 👋🏻
3:20 Goosebumps to me as a Malaysian, actually we dont aware that we are friendly people..we thought we are worst racists people and hate each others..
