Ben, perhaps a better question is Malaysia a good value for money?
Cheap for foreginers but expensive for locals.
Ben, you look super relaxed and confident doing the interview , it really made the people at ease without barriers. Good job, keep it up!
Thanks a lot 😀
The last lady from Italy is very charming - especially considering she just arrived after a very long flight. I hope she has the time of her life in Malaysia.
It's true, you'd never expect she just did 24 hours of straight travel, I'd be a mess 😂
@@benfisherminit's the 7hrs long lay over in instanbul. Had she flown via dubai or doha, it would be short lay over. Anyway, hope she has a wonderful experience in Malaysia😊
@@benfishermin On the average, it takes me 30 hours from California after transit and everything else. That Italian lady paid about $10 for 2 nights! $5 per night - that is insanely inexpensive. Whenever I travel to Malaysia I would definitely splurge a little on accommodation. Where else can you pay like $80 per night and stay in a luxurious beautiful 4-star hotel or Airbnb?! Motel 6 in California cost like $140 per night. I would go out and eat at all kinds of restaurants. In the U.S., I would stick to fast food (inexpensive instead of "cheap"), don't have to deal with 15% to 18% "gratuity" on top of 7.25% sales tax.
coming from a westerner, most malaysian dont like if you say malaysia is 'cheap' .... affordable is the right word to use, imo
Was about to say the same
why do, we should accept the fact that the ringgit currency is low compared to the west, that's why they come here compared to gulf countries
Just semantics really, but I get it.
I think what we aim for is good value for money. Cheap can be poor quality as well.
I know Malaysian doesn't like to hear the word "cheap" so I told my mum don't say that word if she happens to go Malaysia.
Phuket was once belong to kedah kingdom (langkasuka), its literally a tongue-twister taken frm malay word of "bukit" Phuket/Bukit/Hill
Nice I didn't know this thanks
Phuket is like simmilar fate as Singapore to Malaysia. It's malays region in today's southern thailand. Also its fav Malaysian tourists along with krabi and hatyai. Hatyai is Malaysia north already. Same like JB to Singaporean - Daytrip groceries shopping n dining country.
aku dah mula suka si ben ni..good content ben..
FANTASTIC question being asked to the foreigners .. great job done, Ben. This video is going to be over the 200K views too.
Thanks a lot, 200k+ I hope so 😀😀😀
Congrats Ben! I noticed that your channel is growing very fast compared to some other channels
I’m Malaysia Chinese, happy to see have Chinese subtitle and Your video looks very comfortable and interesting❤ love it and keep going Man!😎
Thanks
Wow thank you so much, I really appreciate this 🙏🙏
@@benfishermin You're welcome. Hope you can continue to make more good and entertaining videos.
A very good interviewer and listener.
Thank you very much
The last interview were fun…she’s so jovial ❤
Yea she has great energy
Actually Phuket used to be part of the Malay Kingdom during Malacca sultanate.. until Phuket and the rest of the islands including Langkawi was invaded by the Siamese. Later, it was gazetted by Thailand as part of Siam Kingdom. The Thais were notoriously known to commit genocide and wage war against the Malays back then. For me, I'll always remember what the Thais and Siamese did to my ancestors historically back then, because my family is from southern Thai province. Refer here: en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siamese_invasion_of_Kedah
If u look back , weve been invaded so many times . Why look back humdred years history
Live in the present
Im a malaysian too
@@iammiggy8686 why look back, because it's bloodshed history.. what if it was your innocent parents/child who were brutally murdered and massacred in a peaceful village... Be considerate and sensitive to how we feel which clearly you don't have any. It was Thailand that gave way to Japanese army to invade Malaya in WW2. We will never forget and forgive easily.
@@flahmadzaki2172 if we look back , it will never end . Like i said , we been invaded so many times .
Why live in the past , your parents and grandparents were not even borned yet , so do u . I really dont understand what u trying to achieve here hehe .
But its ok
@@iammiggy8686 who says anything about achieving anything. No, it's not ok if someone like you belittle our history.. you call yourself Malaysian and it seems to me you ignored those facts. I'm just stating what's facts.. regardless if I lived those times.. my grandparents did and it's thru those hardship, we survived. You on the other hand, choose to forget. It's fine, people like you will not fight if it comes to an invasion and defend the country anyway.. just run away and flee like a coward.
we look back to appreciate the history of ours. but the world is growing, live in the present.
and not to forget our roots as well
Affordable Luxury 🎉
100%
Cheap
Someone said M'sia similar to Venezuela, i m kind of agree, esp.on food:
Empanada - curry puff.
Pebellon criollo - nasi lemak.
Hallaca - lepat.
Arepa = round cakoi.
Cassabe - kropok/krepek ubi.
Arroz con leche - bubur nasi.
Dulce de leche - seri kaya.
Cachapas - lempeng.
Chichas - air jagung. 😀
I like the lady from Italy.she is charming and happy.hope she enjoy Malsysia and safe travel.
Hi Ben.....interesting interview as usual. Thanks for the street interview. At least from the street Interview we can get honest impressions from foreigners about Malaysia.Take care and cheers.
Thanks I'm glad you enjoyed it
@@benfishermin yup I love street interview.
Your interview is always professional. Most of the questions are appropriate. Kudos
I appreciate that thank you
It is cheap for those countries with strong currency, but it may not be for locals. Strong with currency wherever you go is cheap, whereas weak in currency wherever you go is expensive.
Yes it’s true
Tourist police = a unit of the Royal Malaysian Police dedicated to deal with the safety of tourists & tourism related security.
- can easily be recognized by the blue & white chequered stripe on their visor hats.
Kl is not as cheap as i expected but much cheaper than most western countries
the police part... its just random police check.. its normal here.. local also got check. just to ensure no criminal walking around...
Really good interviews. By the way, don't worry about the Tourist Police as they are just making sure that you are not conducting anything negative. Before and slightly after the Covid era, there were instances where there'd be groups of people in various locations in the city scamming the public of bogus job offers which could have led to human trafficking.
Good to know this, thanks for your comment!
They are just doing their job, checking to see if you are not doing anything deemed as illegal but being Malaysian themselves they just won't say it directly to your face since they do not want to offend you
the last interview was very nice, its hilarious to see the girl became excited
Will back to KL on Tuesday from Japan 🇯🇵. Hope I can meet with the Italian lady in KL. 😊
Tourist Police Job is looking after tourist safety.. I work as tourist guide often approached by them to ask about my guests..Just a routine to ensure Tourist feel safe .. I think Malaysia is unique to have special police only for tourists... Mainly for safety 😅😊😂
I like it how this guy get things straight to the interviewee like the first guys trying to compare KL with non capital city in China they he straight away cut and make it more reasonable comparison😂
I also aware in other videos the he noticed many of people (if not the most) u saw in KL city isn’t local or natives, many of them are foreigners/hard labour, like workers at mamak, supermarkets, restaurants even fnb and retailing also started to dominated by immigrant so people tend to get confused they are dealing with locals instead of immigrants workers.
And most of them live in dorms that located in KL city, that’s why u will find comments from the locals/ tourists that KL are full with immigrants instead of locals.
Thanks I'm glad you like the interviews 😀🙏
Your chaneel is growing fast, Ben. Bravo 🎉
Very good Ben !
Thanks 🙏
when your currency is higher than the ringgits, obviously here is cheap, just like Malaysian travel to Indonesia. but if you start earning the same wage in the same currency, then you truly understand if its cheap or not.
Yes this is true
Should be affordable instead of cheap.
that's him the Ben, our future head of tourism in malaysia for Ampang district branch lol
Let's hope for a sponsorship from the Malaysian tourism board🫡🫡🫡🫡
Hi Ben..✌️🤠🇲🇾
Yeah cheap for those who coming from the country with the higher currency rates and of course their monthly wages 😅
Btw, nice interviews..especially the final one 🤭
I can hardly see any Malaysian in the background. I used to live in Bukit Bintang and glad I left KL to the country side but here also condos and hotels are popping up around.
The reason why the "tourist police" approached you is because there has been scams by foreigners asking locals to donate and fund their next trip.
As long as you are not offending anyone or annoying anyone, u are in the clear.
I won't say Malaysia is cheap, it's affordable - big difference. from a local salary's perspective it's quite similar to western countries. I imagine getting along with minimum wage is only possible as a single or both spouses work. That's what I'd say after 2,5 years experience and getting used to the currency and prices.
KL is way more expensive compared to the outskirts of KL. Food wise especially, can't beat the portion and price with same or even better quality.
Yea definitely KL can be expensive compared to some other places I've been here. I did think Kota Kinabalu was a bit pricey too, similar to KL or maybe even more. But at the end of the day it is still a pretty good value for what you get here
I don’t like it when foreigners say Malaysia is cheap/super cheap cos we Malaysian esp in KL are struggling with increasing prices of everything.
Sis u kena paham...berbanding dgn negeri lain, duit kite nie xde power langsung. Of course bagi kita yg kerja sini, mmgla terasa pabila kos hidup naik sbb we are paid in RM
@@bhl1053 i understand but i don’t like to hear it
@@bhl1053what’s the average salary like for the locals?
Same here bro I feel it..foreigner who working here of course la gonna be expat, of coz la say our stuff cheap, their monthly salary 10-20k usd, of course everything cheap for them..and also those tourist come in with a higher exchange rate, I think our country should impose a western policy pricing for them.. sakit hati when they say cheap while those ppl living RM 1500 basic income are struggling ... Well it's a good way when they say cheap so more tourist come in to our country but still for us who struggling , everyday basic necessities..mau makan kit kat ice cream also need to think twice before touching it 😢😢...diaaaaa pulak cakap cheapppppp :/
@@azizahkatan3941saya bawa grab, byk jumpa pelancong dari first world country dan juga banglas dan seangkatan dengammya .
Rata2 orang luar semua kata malaysia better dari negara diorang dari segi cost. Saya pun orang susah anak 5 , bila dengar tu saya terus bersyukur
Awesome kl
😀😀😀
Cheaper only if you're coming from US, UK, or Europe because we're comparing currencies and Malaysia has a very weak currency. But if you come from Middle East or other Asian countries, it's not any cheaper
More expensive in the cities or towns, cheaper in rural areas..😊
To fly here from Dubai for rm5000 maybe he meant for 2 person, or perhaps a weekend flight per pax. I usually fly Dubai on economy and it doesn't exceed rm3000.
Singapore has a big money salary payment S$4,563/Rp50,193,000 for employees 🇸🇬💵and Rm6,610/Rp19,830,000 in Malay 🇲🇾
im malaysian.. i travel to indonesian and thailand also i say that country more cheap than malaysia..
Malaysian food and tourism is considered cheap but Malaysian Women ( Expensive) 😅😅 im a Malaysian ✌️
Definitely KL, Kota Kinabalu, Johor Bahru or Penang will be far more expensive than Ipoh, Taiping or Batu Gajah. KL is only 2% of Malaysia. KL rental would be from RM1500 - RM4000 for a medium decent place. In Ipoh rental would be from RM500 - RM1200 for a fully furnished landed property..
The police have to step in because mainstream media people actually need license to operate - like interviewing people.
Thanks for promoting malaysia...good works n you are a nice guys too..thanks for loving malaysia..
Good content
Thank you
Ben actually is not cheap for Malaysians. All items already increased.
Yea true, sadly it's not cheap for me either 😂
Please come to kelantan to try nasi kerabu bro.. come with bus at tbs cheras to kota bharu kelantan
Phuket dulu memang daerah dalam negeri milik tanah Melayu tapi terpisah atas helah perjanjian inggeris Siam di bawah kawalan Freemason
nahhh..is there a tourist police in klcc park ?? never seen one ? that must be the security guard roaming around the park and you can see their hut like office over there..
It was my first time seeing them there. I've definitely seen them in Bukit Bintang area before but that was the first time in KLCC park
Apa khabar Dato Ben /
Mcdonald in malaysia is super vheap..with 2 or 3 dollar or euro...u can get full meal
I am in Bukit Bintang, KL now. Where are staying?
Would you like to do an interview? If so please send me an email at bfishermin@gmail.com and just let me know if you’re Malaysian or non-Malaysian 🙏
Don't worry, Ben. The tourist police are just doing their job to ensure the safety of tourists and preventing any elements that could create public disorder. This is to ensure everything is peaceful and everyone can have a good time.
it should not considered as cheap, but reasonable for locals. maybe for foreigners it will vary because of their money and currencies.
Prices is getting pricier now due to excessive promotion trader's took advantage.
please collab with solo and chris
Malaydes Malaydes
People who rent at affordable hotels will find it cheaper for the price and facilities offered. Those who opt ro stay at expensive hotels will find it to be of similar price to other countries. So does the food and others. For me as long as locals can work and live in a big city like KL that means it is still affordable
Cheap for foreigners not for most locals
Probably may not be the cheapest in south East Asia...but most of the time U have fairly affordable goods n services , Malaysia is one of the best known for it's modern transportation system not as chaotic compared to many other nearby cities like Bangkok Jakarta manila etc...with good roads n infrastructures , good Education n medical facilities... Right?😅
Just in KL not whole of malaysia had good transportation.
Girl literally just arrived kl demmmm 😂
Haha yep, she was literally walking around looking for her hostel 😀
Any foreign broadcast company requires an authorisation to film/record in Malaysia (many other countries have the rule as well). When they see a white man with a mic in public, authorities will get suspicious 😅. Youtubing/vlogging is still quite new, there's no clear regulations on it yet(not that I know). Besides KLCC park is privately owned property made open to public. So maybe the security been noticing you and send the tourist police.
Think there is a difference between cheap and good value. think former is absolute and latter is relative to the total experience. And i would say you want good value not cheapness
Cheap for expate and western tourist but not for the local 😂
Yes true, not cheap for me either 😂
@@benfishermin we have B40, M40, T20 title according to their income monthly. B40 living in a big city like KL is consider as poor. That is why our government gives many benefit to the B40 family. B40 is a family that earn below RM4850.
Cheap can mean a lot of thing, affordable could be a better word.
Indian are about 6% here as compared to Thailand, their number are too small there to make an impact to their local food.
If relative to average income yes Malaysia is better . Low fuel , low food cost , low healthcare cost . Cheap loans . Price of apartments is also more affordable than say Bangkok manila or saigon . Some tourists May compare With Bangkok but they dont reAlize household income in KL is double than Bangkok . And pretty much everywhere else in MY vs TH
Dont call Malaysia a CHEAP COUNTRY...........NOT APPROPRIATE
basically asking people how strong is Malaysia's currency
We hve tourist police? Since when?
The first dude is your doppelgänger
"excellent value for your investment"
Hello fellow Malaysians, affordable is not equivalent to ‘cheap’. I stay in singapore for 10 yrs, so I think transportations and food are cheap in KL. Housing is free in KL because I’m local 😂
Meanwhile when i was in europe ...all the countries were so expensive but it was a nice experience and cooler climate compared to malaysia😂
Pretty sure the tourist police were just curious 🤭 standard procedures i guess
0:16 I remember I fetched him up from KLIA, super nice guy to chat with.
Also 3:25 they are concern about everything that is happening, I believe their superior told them to investigate in case of what you said as there are currently increasing reports of it. Keep posting vids man, love your effort
Ah yea he was a really friendly guy! Thanks 🙏
What 'everything is happening'? What reports?
It's unfair to ask somebody in big cities like Kuala Lumpur... go to the village or something where things are much cheaper in general
I don't think I'm gonna find many foreigners walking around in the village 😂
In the next 4 to 5 years, everything will become expensive when the petrol subsidy is abolished. Enjoy until the time comes
It seems like Italians are smart, they know well where their $$$ should spend.
It’s true, I’m surprised just how many Italians I’m meeting here recently also
But, it’s expensive to understand & appreciate its deep Culture of its Diversity which may be too much for the Tourists 🎉
Ben, have 2 mics better
You like the Italian ,dont you ? 😊
Malaysia is cheap , KL is expensive but depending which state town etc . Even on KL it’s cheap for them . If you’re a foreigner walking around in public places interviewing the public of course the local police would be suspicious. Respect the local rules , remember that applies in all other countries
OMG, the people who found Malaysia even remotely expensive need a dose of reality. Malaysia is dirt cheap considering the high level of infrastructure and all. Some place that is cheaper is not necessarily better at all.
Malaysia and other SEA countries' cost of living is affordable.
I agree
KL is like in between cheap and expensive compare to all over the world
You should've totally get the italian girl number. She seems sweet
Msia in very interesting location.Control east & west Strait of Malacca.Peninsula Msia shape of penis represents masculine nation & neighbouring ultra rich & most expensive Spore, yet very low cost of living but maintain high living standards.Love from Jugra Hill,Selangor.
Ya, terima kasih atas ulasan, anda betul 100% semuanya mengenai context. Sudah tentu ia tidak murah untuk ramai penduduk tempatan atau untuk semua orang, termasuk saya sendiri, tetapi masih bagus untuk mendengar pendapat orang asing jika ia murah untuk keadaan mereka.
They are usually trained to look into the eyes 😉
Ben, 'cheap' sounds a bit degrading, use 'affordable' or 'good value for money', 'inexpensive'
tourist police?i have never heard of such thing... its a police for tourists?
Yea I've seen them around Lot 10 mall before, I guess they're just there to help tourists specifically when anything happens 🤷♂️
Well...the police have the right to ask you questions.
If you’re holding a dinar currency everywhere is cheap 😂
I think the right word is ‘affordable’ - NOT Cheap..
For some people it’s cheap and for others it’s probably just affordable, the two words have different meanings and uses
Compared to Amsterdam or other west European cities it’s affordable. I say affordable because the food in restaurants and Malls are almost up to European prices. The clothes are more expensive than here in the Netherlands. Especially high end clothes/bags as LV, Celine, Max Mara, Dior, Gucci are here in the Netherlands cheaper up to 30%. I’ll never purchase any high end products in Malaysia. Wait! I did I bought a Dior sunglasses and got some discount in TRX Mall 😅 And yes it’s still more expensive than here in the Netherlands 😂 Only the Amouage parfum is 50 Euro cheaper than here in the Netherlands 😂 For clothing, brands, jewelry, Europe is CHEAPER! But for staying in served apartment at the Golden Triangle it’s very affordable. Kuala Lumpur is a city you can make it Expensive or on a budget. The most tourist are on a budget. But Malaysia deserves tourists who spend more money. The difference between Europe and South/East Asia is that it’s almost impossible to have a low budget holiday in Europe but you can have in Malaysia. Is it cheap? No is it affordable? Depends on YOU 🤑🫵🏻
Why does the first guy look exactly like you 😭
