About time a video game came out that was based on Pathfinder. I'd been looking forward to this. And yes, to the uninitiated, character creation and gameplay can be daunting. It helps to have some knowledge of both Pathfinder and D&D 3.5.
This is not the game to try Hardest mode if you havent played DND or Pathfinder before.... Bragging rights will ruin the flow of the story for you, just go for Normal mode, no shame in that.
Andrew poe is very streamlined and simplyfied i comparasion. Pathfinder and dnd 3.5 are easily the most complex ttrpg systems on market. I love them for it but I would not recomend hard difficulty to newcomers.
Andrew Just as advice: probably most common mistake in this system is thinking that clerics are primarly healers. They are NOT. Job of a cleric is to buff herself and the party and then go to the frontline like a melee murder machine they actualy are ^^ Until you hit high level spells healing in general is something that should be done after battle because low level healing spells are too weak to actualy help you win combat - you are way better off just casting additional buffs instead.
Łukasz Samójło Clerics were badasses in BG2 too....i remember my vlv 20+ dwarven cleric walk in Bodhi lair with turn undead on and all vampires start dieing instantly.... the rare ones died to my Crom Faeyr :D
Just in case it hasn't been pointed out yet, for the dragon disciple, the prerequisite means you need to be able to cast 1st level arcane spells without preparing them ahead of time. Wizards and Magus need to select which spells they can cast each day ahead of time, so they can't join the super awesome club. If you have at least 1 level in Sorcerer or Bard, you can become Dragon Disciple once you meet the other prerequisite.
One of my favorite characters to roleplay in these kind of games is a Human Female Bard 1 Fighter 4 Dragon Disciple. Use a big two handed weapon and either go black dragon for an evil character, or gold dragon for a lawful good one. Be the pinnacle of evil, or paragon of justice for the group. Fun times
Beginner + Pathfinder + Hard difficuty = you will save scum for the first MANY levels and essentially rely on lucky crits and low rolls/misses of the enemies.
For newbies, wisdom constitution and str are really not need for ranged characters, wisdom and dex for pure tanks, wisdom and str for tanks that can do damage and whatever your main stat is, plus what you want for skills as a ranged character
I'm playing an Elf Feyspeaker druid now with the Tiefling DLC purchased. Domain fire. It's interesting, using Charisma for spells, and fire domain spells stack with the DLC companion's debuffs. Like the heat thing.
I started as a Gnome Sylvan Sorcerer (I wanted highest possible Charisma for persuasion checks), I now have a large sabretoothed tiger as my homie (with ~40 AC buffed at lvl10) and a shitton of defensive and crowd-control spells. I love it, this game is so fucking buggy it makes me tear my hair out at times but I can't stop playing its so engaging. I do have experience from the pen-and-paper game so that helps.
Class options seem endless though the main problem for me is with the Portraits... Full body Portraits though great limit the player greatly... A hooded character could be a Mage, Ranger, Rogue, prettt much anything... But you show the body and you are limited completely. Too bad, I guess I gotta go Portrait hunting. Cheers
This game is very unintuitive if you don't have a 3.5 or Pathfinder background. They could have really used more transparency in abilities and paths. The fact that you can't even click on and see what the prestige classes get is crazy. Or that status effects have to hypertext when you hover over them (they have that for lore stuff, they should have it for things like nauseated and such).
I have Pathfinder background and I am a running DM in DnD 5e. And I still find the ammount of options overwhelming, since I can't decide which class I want to be :D Went for a sylvan sorcerer (because Mammoth
Yeah me too. Also Feats def should have been organized by "Feat Trees". So you can see that point blank shot leads to precise shot, or all the stuff power attack unlocks, etc.
Table top I play a blue draconic sorcerer and at 6th lvl i went dragon disciple, very melee heavy class and dragon form is extremely nice. I chose blue dragon because of shocking grasp, and you get a +1 dmg per die to any lightning elemental spell. Very fun class. Im about to try it on Kingmaker and see if it is just as nice
if I'm being honest with myself I am hesitant on getting this, I've watched some game play on this but still not sure if I want to get this. So have to ask is this game worth getting or should I just ignore it and move to a different game

I want to love this game. But the amount of one shot mechanics I have ran into, or weirdly paced power creep is getting really frustrating. Camping in a level 3-5 zone...a monster with 28 ac spawns...buffs itself to 34. Good luck hitting it.

I have a question about character creation. Is it possible to make more than one character?
