Cat thinks he's talking to him. So he sat up to give full attention. absolutely adorable.
The slow blinks the cat was giving towards the back of his head were too adorable 😂
cats are murdering filth
That's a quality cat right there.
@@AspienWaifu That is a sign of love from the cat. He's showing that he trusts you to be around him when he can't see you.
That is a well cared for and happy cat.
@@thispeen
Yeah, his cat is extremely cared for and you can tell he gives that cat tons of love. The fact it's just sitting there and intently listening to him shows a lot. I always though Cohh was a good dude.
Man in the n64 Zelda the zombies when you time travel scared the shit out of me when I was a kid. Like I would actually have nightmares and whenever my friends would go to that area I would cover my eyes. Totally agree with asmon, things used to be dark and scary.
It's the sound they make, then you're frozen, and then they jump on you and suck your life off. Scary shit
I could not beat OoT because of those re-deads. Eventually a few laters I managed to fight my fears (literally), then I found out that WindWaker had an equivalent (screamin dudes in the ghost ship? I think, it's been a while). Really would love to see these make a return.
I really love pixel games, I feel like the passion for the project is always there more than not if you catch my drift.
Pixel games by small studios definitely always feel much more genuine.
I like that it is just easy to make. 3D is fine, but pixel 2D can be good enough. Shout out for Secret of mana, Secret of Evermore and Chrono Trigger.
Coh’s a good dude, hope it’s successful for him.
looks like total shiite and he funded pantheon which is a scam and quarm everquest emulated server which is also likely a scam
@@whiskeyhoarder9587 go see a doctor ma men, I pray for you to be healed again.
I love Cohh, that said no thank you on Zelda , I did that back in 85 ish when the Bengal's and 49's entered the super bowl, TLDR Bro it aint you its me...
game looks like crap, id never buy it. You cant get by on being a streamer, you need to make a good game.
I like him as a streamer, but i don't trust him in any game ventures of his, he has already tried twice, were he used his streaming platfrom to raise money for the projects.. both projects failed.. Atleast this time he has the decency of not accepting money until early access.
Love the idea of having to find your NPCs, something I always liked about Terraria, but never realized till now
I think it’s great that there’s a community of gamers who enjoy and respect this retro style of game without making fun of it or making comments about playing it on a potato
i be playing it on my 3080 12900k fuck em. who cares about graphics or pc specs. A good game is a good game.
My Stardew Valley is so decked out with mods that I experience performance issues on a 2060. Sons of the Forest High Settings w/ Raytracing? No problem.
Pixel game modded up? Brrrrr
Been playing nothing but Chono Trigger and FF6 for the last few months, im hyped.
you mean like asmons comment at 2:44? :D
this is nothing like a retro style of game lmao
I want a town builder in the vein of Dark Cloud. Houses that have people that go best with it, but to layer on that people who work together better with other people, and trying to design the perfect town. Dark Cloud really was on a whole nother level, way ahead of anything else out at the same time. I miss those days.
Dark cloud really was special. Can't really think of another game that captures the same feeling or gameplay loop.
It was good until it was min maxed to get the best layout for rewards. Soundtrack is still goated, love me some Queens.
omg i would love that i played the fck out of dark cloud.
Was looking for someone else who caught the similarities to Dark Cloud. Games definitely need more of that again so i'll happily help them test the game out.
Dragon quest builders kinda has that vibe going for it.
the QoL locked behind gameplay comment was crazy from Asmon considering he loves vanilla wow where you have to level for like 25 hours before u get ur first shitty mount if u can even afford it.
It's a very old tabletop RPG system/style.
You always get a bag of holding after you figure it out without it once or twice, around level 3 to 5 in D&D.
Why?
Because as the DM I'm really going to need you to pay attention to what I'm saying and not writing down a bunch of superfluous details on your character sheet.
Making you decide if you're going to bring a 10 ft Pole or a shovel is funny only once.
When every little piece of loot matters should only be at the very beginning. Even use a Tetris mechanic like Diablo, where everything has to actually fit in a backpack. And the loot is incredibly detailed.
Marking the point where the player goes from poor to middle class is this easy as giving them an NPC that now handles all their loot for them.
Even progress further where you end up with a small encampment following you around. Like a group of dwarves ready to pull out every nail in the dungeon, restore and sell all the furniture etc. Magic folk following you around to the entrance but not actually going in until you clear it, who also provide goods and services like enchantments and potions and such at a discounted price for access to anything you find in the dungeon magic lore related. Etc.
So you can do potion crafting, but you don't have to after a certain point.
And so on and so forth.
It also means that as you progress the game you don't overwhelm the player by having to deal with the minutiae of subsystems. It's there if you want to take advantage of it, but not necessary to complete the game.
At least that's how we do it in tabletop land.
Gameplay description reminds me of Cult of the Lamb, looks great. Retro aesthetics being on the rise for years has been great to see
I'm super interested in this I grew up playing zelda and similar games to this style, my favourite being alundra still play that one to this day.
Added it to my wishlist. Can't wait.
I hope co-op/multiplayer will come to it in the future.
Asmon looks like he drives a 4-wheeler to get groceries
Like a car with 4 wheels?
@@JK-pp2xl like an ATV, I guess it depends where you're from
That's way too ambitious for him
I'd love to see something like AA points from OG EQ. Small bonus points once you reach certain level. Was cool stuff. (ex. run faster in dungeons)
The reason asmon doesn’t get into game development is because he got a C in programming? Bro… you the 1% that even had programming as a subject? I wish I had programming in school. Closest I got was learning Microsoft excel formulas
@@MovieFan13savage L
Funny that C is actually very useful in game programming...
Not too late to learn. So many resources online
@@MovieFan13I took 3 programming languages and hated every moment of it. I also didn't have a job market to even begin to utilize it. I went on to get a degree in IT and Computer Networking and finished in 2004. I couldn't find employment locally or was overwualified for everything else.
I was either looking at moving 500 miles+ away from friend's or family. Unfortunately I ended up in retail instead.
The knowledge simply decayed and I would have to redo everything to re-enter the field. Trades pay significantly more here. The local Walmart pays better than the guy's in the IT field.
You can do it without going to college
Reminds me of Soul Blazer more than anything else. The town building and the wisp that follows you and attacks things seem like they were lifted straight out of it.
Wish him good luck with that title, the genre is so saturated right now that I wouldn't touch it for a good 10 years as a dev, let alone a producer
Saturated? There are like 3 good games in that genre in the last 15 years. If this game is good, people will buy it. I will buy it for sure.
im gonna buy it, i always buy passion projects like this on steam. And every single time I have I loved the fuck out of them, and it brought my love for gaming back.
Its alot easier to get noticed when your game isnt surrounded by shit. @@epyjacek
Like?
Saturated with what games?
Cohh doin cohh stuff, I hope it goes well. Asmon beard lookin kinda mighty
This looks exactly like a Player World game like Jerrath I used to play back in the day like 20-25 years ago. Used to be a decent size back then. But super easy to make. They would give you free tiles and was very easy to do did it when I was 13-15 and edit the UI
I love this genre, can’t wait!
"Combat heavy game" shit dawg i've been waitting this for years
This is SUPER similar to Core Keeper, Down to how the ores/rocks look.
probably a good thing tho :D
I'd love to see them try a dark, gritty Zelda inspired by dark souls one of these days
Dude some of the enemies would be so scary
Nintendo will just forever try to appeal to 8 year olds, it's sad that they do with all of those IP and amazing stories, that would adapt so well into a more gruesome brutal kind of story.
Closest we got was Majora's Mask. Part of me thinks there's no world they'd ever release a game like that these days, maybe I'm wrong though.
@@RobinLundqvist Because kids have always been part of Nintendo's demographic. Not everything has to gritty and dark to appeal to you guys. There's a lot of people out there outside of this community that like the softer stylised direction of Nintendo and similar games.
It looks fun! It's definitely something I'd spend my money on.
The main reason Tears of the Kingdom popped off was because of the ability to put any two items together for nearly endless combinations of weapons. My major complaint with the game is that it isn’t dark enough, and I don’t mean literal darkness. I can look at this developer and already tell that this is a passion project including fishing and sword fighting. I’m sold, will support and will wish list. I just hope Emberville will have a really extensive and creative crafting system with many types of weapons including scythes and Crossbows, also many different boss fights. Looks good already though!
"popped off" has anyone really talked about Tears of the Kingdom after like 2 months of release?
@@tyrous1743more like 2 weeks... tears was mid. Played for 4 hours and couldn't be bothered to finish it
@@tyrous1743 It has sold over 18 million copies, likely over 20 million now.
It was relevant for much longer than 2 months. People complete it so they moved on to other stuff that's all. People only talk about Elden Ring now because of the upcoming DLC. Same dumb logic apply then?@@tyrous1743
I think it popped off because of 1) It's a Zelda game and 2) BotW. I, for one, never played TotK because I really, really didn't like the weapon durability carried over from BotW AND this new system of just sticking various items together. It is simply something I personally wouldn't enjoy.
i love this style of graphics games
"You killed Kenny, you bastard" is said by Cartman every time your character dies.
about mikiri counter, it's not core mechanic in sekiro that's why there isn't that many main boss you can do mikiri counter on them. it's like a nice upgrade but you'd be fine with it. like the whole sekiro combat is revolve around deflecting attack
Knowing Cohh and his taste for video games im very excited for this game i just hope the dev team can keep up with his ideas xD wishing them all the best
It's they type of game u would play at an arcade when i was a kid, I like it
Really love Chronicon and this looks similar to it, I'm in. Not pre-ordering tho, but will defo wishlist and check development.
Ohh nice to see a Chronicon mention! I know the guy who made it and followed the development early on in the pre-alpha days, really cool it's become that popular! 😄😄
@@AwesomeRepix such a hidden gem for us ARPG afficionados 🥰
I remember him talking about the whole unity situation I think, so this makes a lot of sense.
as a huge stardew/sunhaven lover i am VERY excited over this game !
Spiritea is looking pretty interesting. It's about to come out I think.
@@CapitalMort Thank you - I havent heard of it but will def check it out
I hope this goes well, I love games like that. A couple of YEARS is nuts, who knows how many devs are working on it though. But dropping it on EA early next year isn't that bad. I'll be trying it.
a couple of years is not nuts, you are just usedst to rushed games and unfinished products
hades was in early access for like 2 years, so was divinity, so was subnautica, so was BG3... the only reason it's only a couple years around at this point, is because they've already spent (I would assume) at least a year or two developing it already, based on how feature complete cohh says it is.
good games takes YEARS
Not my type of game, but I have wishlisted and will probably also buy it, because I want to support Cohhs sense for quality and user experience / fun.
For Cohh and even more gaming in general, I hope that it will be successful. I am sure that there are tons of people who would like a combat focused Stardew Valley.
Same, except I'll probably never play it.
generally games are successful if they are good. the exception is when they arent found, which wont be the case for this game
i usually dont go for the retro looking type games...That being said, I've played Symphony of War, Ogre Tactics, and Songs of Conquests and have loved them so retro 8bit graphics isnt a deal breaker for me. Nice work Asmoongold showing such good support for a fellow creator in Cohh. There's room at the table for everyone to eat!
It reminds me a lot of moonlighter this just leans more on combat I feel
6:50 I do miss the dark nature of old cartoons and games, feels hard to find nowadays
I wishlisted it. Looks cool.
I went from streaming asmon late night gaming, to streaming him in the early afternoon getting ready for work
Qol progression when done right feels very rewarding and addicting.
Having the little flame guy spirit immediately gave me Soulblazer Vibes.
I think the idea behind it is to go back to the old days when people had to go to forums and search for helpful information to make daily game life easier. It's about something other than how to get the most potent weapon or armor set in the game or how to beat the field/ dungeon bosses. Indeed, the game wants to be explored ~
cant wait to see this for an hour during liriks sub sunday
Remember all good games have a fishing minigame
Looks interesting. I wonder what weapon types they add.
best PR is asmongold reacting to this video
The aesthetic and health bars etc remind me of games from being a kid I love them but never played stardew valley or more recently
looks interesting hope its as good as corekeeper
This reminds me of wizard of legend. I want more games like this.
what about forgotten Heaven and Hearts game was sooo mazing. Super hardcore at the begining, but soo well designed.
Amazing crafting, amazing fishind, housing. BEST gathering system ever maded.
Sounds similar to Dark Cloud, which I've heard a lot of great things about. I just picked it up recently on PS4, as it's currently 50% off.
Hell yea I’m going to check it out
Taking him on in the producer role is actually really smart. Agile Scrum works best when you are showing sprint demos to a person playing the roll of customer/client. Keeps you focused on increments of progress, and focused on the parts that get people excited.
Not to mention all of the advertising they’ll get out of it. Which is fine because it’s a W for pretty much everyone that’s involved and anyone who’s into this type of game.
@@erkfx4154 yeah when you consider how much sponsored streams cost, this is a big W for a small indie. I do wonder what his producer fees are vs what they would have had to pay for him to promote the game.
Ive wanted to make a game like this. Curious to see how successful it'll be
You and the other 300 million people as small indie developers
@@ignizxnr3021 Thats the Problem 90% of the time there's nothing new and it's the 1000s time someone copied basically the same algorithm for procedural generation and threw it in the game...But thats not enough etc.
Is it multiplayer online?
This is a very good idea. Someone is trying to run with the Stardew Valley genera. There is a unfilled niche that I think this game is trying to fill. I have felt that void myself and have thought many times that we need a more combat heavy stardew valley.
So glad he mentioned Link to the Past as one of his all time faves. That game I play to completion every year. Its imo one of the only few perfect games, and the greatest zelda game. 3 greatest games of all time imo. Deus Ex, Link to the Past and Metal Gear Solid.
this just reminds me of reckful
RIP 😢
It's a shame Everland was never completed, seems like a dead project now
Does it have ray tracing?
This is right up my street, hope its a winner.
Are the some of the assets from stardew? Looks damn near identical (around 3:20) which is good because stardew is one of the most goated games
Listening to the community is a great idea in concept and can make a games community feel like a community. The problem is you end up taking blue shells out of Mario kart and now all of a sudden the games not fun anymore
Game looks great.
Not sure if I'll be playing this yet. But Im really glad Asmongold is taking a look at it. There are soo many great indie RPG games that go under the radar these days and they need more attention from big Twitch streamers and RUclipsrs. Its damn near all I play now and its the reason I don't get upset about the state of AAA gaming getting worse and worse. Cause the Indie scene is thriving and its amazing. Any time a big youtuber shines light on Indie RPG like titles its a good thing.
Looks like heroes of hammerwatch
Hope this works out better than his last game.
FISHING? ok, i will play it.
The visual design is good, simple but effective. The main protagonist needs some more work though, it looks like the character is walking backwards when moving up the screen.
def gonna play this when it comes out i like games like this
Sounds like a game that'd be great as a coop-game.
Immedietly wishlisted, I love games like this and the town building sold me
Sounding very similar to Heroes of Hammerwatch...which is a very fun game!
Who ever timed the ads has a sense of humor.
"You know i wouldnt be involved in a game like this if it didnt have extensive..." ad plays
Definitely has a secret of mana feel going on. Very interesting. I can see some stardew influences in the art style too.
This game looks like the devs really liked the combat in stardew valley and decided to focus and expand on the combat
@@vickiraytivegames1040 yeah but it still looks good I'll probably get it when it comes out
What happened to Reckful's game? Thought they promised to finish it after his passing.
This looks a lot like Heroes of Hammerwatch
Similar to Secret of Evermore with a splash of breath of fire fishing
If it's as consumer friendly as it is pitched to be, I really hope it succeeds despite me not being that into stardew valley esque games.
Is this game being made in RPG maker engine, cause I see some familiar assets? 🤔
Did asmon have makiri counter when he encountered Shinobi assassin and then quit?
Thats a W beard Asmon....looks good on ya man
omg thats the prophet dude from cyberpunk
Like a stardew and zelda link to the past vibe looks good, and god i want to pet that cat badly
Would love to talk about making a game with Asmon and OTK... Contacted Mad Mushroom, but was ignored. Wouldn't take you or anyone on OTK much time per week man, unless they wanted to get more involved... Would be great content on top of it all.
The sound effects is very familiar. Its like from DOTA 2. Anyone else feels that way?
Reminds me of Fire Emblem for DS
This game looks like a baby from Stardew and Heroes of Hammerwatch
I’d say the cartography table to get the map would be interesting maybe for a harder difficulty.
Wishlisted and following on steam, I love this kind of game and I'm pumped. If there was a port to the SNES it'd be pretty dope, and I'd buy it on there too
I gotta be honest, I swear I missed like the first 2 minutes of what he said because the Cat had all my attention, such a pretty cat! okay, lets start over and listen this time..
That cat is more expensive than my car .
Good luck Cohh
Looks good, i might buy it, PC isn't my preferred platform but i like these types of games.
i know this isn't the place to put it but this trailer needs more "grab". its nice he was able to talk about the game with his audience and they will be a good chunk of sales but for the passerby on steam it doesn't look interesting. so i hope they release a new trailer soon
You absolutely can miss the timing for Mikiri Counter on the Spear Monk miniboss in the dream area.
In fact you can miss it all the way up to encountering a Seven Spears.
I know this.. because I did this.
Edit : You didn't need them either.. makes the fight easier sure, but it's not impossible.
Hands down link to the past was my favorite game growing up as well ! 6:36
If I am not mistaken, The sound effects from attacking and some stuff are from Dota 2? Are the game sharing the same engine? got me confused.
yeah i literally crl F'd dota because these are all dota sounds for sure..
@@jessecollins7024 I mean... Sorry if that sounded bad, I was just pointing out the similarity while I was watching. I dont hate the game, by the way thats probably a banger for me, looking foward to it.
He said all sounds are placeholders
Yeah true, though i think it's stilll seen generally as a no no to steal other games sounds, even if it's as a placeholder. Why not just use free sounds from the engine or somewhere?@@user-bz1uf3cg9y
he literally said all the sounds are temp/placeholders, just to "put it out there"
this is like Outward Lite
Giving me Enter the Gungeon vibes.
