For some reason it seems to be both Lexus and Toyota that shut off when you open the door. Look at other vehicles with push button or key ignitions, you can get in, but can't shift into gear until you either push the button or turn the key but it doesn't restart the engine. It just recognizes the key is now present and let's you shift and go. Seems like cranking the engine a second time is unnecessary.
What's the difference between doing it this way, where the engine shuts off, and the type found in other cars - you have to get in and push the start button in those versions too, just as if you were starting the car. So there is virtually no extra effort. The movements and number of steps is identical. And in fact, this method could be considered safer since the car can't take off when you get in. Some people just love to complain and criticize for no reason.
@@nOne-ol4bz You must not live in an area where you get 90+ degree summer days. We got them a lot here where I am and on those days a car thats been sitting in the sun all day feels like an oven on the inside. Having the ability to remote start and cool down the car is an excellent feature to have for those kinds of situations.
