A friend just said this is the 16 specially distilled for a DE. Check the ppm but I think it’s much lower than 40ppm!

I get more notes of the dirty peat and the pom are relatively low. I think it’s about 20ppm.

I knew!! lol!! 😂 This is a spectacular scotch! Yes this is a 16 yo scotch from all I have read and in talking to people knowledgeable about scotch. It’s not overpowering with sherry and it doesn’t drown out the peat!! This is about $200 here with taxes - same price as the 16. It’s worth it!! Great thoughts Gert!! So glad to see you enjoying a Lagavulin! I will be interested to see what you think of the Thompson Brothers. There is colour added. This is fabulous scotch!!

Have to wait a bit. Have some other whisky in the line. This one is a winner

Lagavulin will always be one of my favorite whiskies. Have tasted most destillery editions from them. The tastiest so far have been DE 1995. Superb. Great review. Cheers

@@WhiskyLoversSocietyHave you tried the Kilchoman Sanaig and the Ardbeg Uigeadail? I think you would like those as you like a bit of sweetness in your whisky.

it used to be a yearly batch 16yrs old until 2019, then 2020 & 2021 15yrs of age and since 2022 NAS. They might not step down to 6/7/8 yrs right now, however they could and in my opinion will do so gradually over the next years

It certainly used to be a 16-year-old: the one I've got says it was distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2014. Not sure if it has switched to NAS now...

Is there a good value "sherry monster" that you'd recommend?

I just looked at other sources - this is a 16 yo scotch.
