Hey all, sorry for the reupload, but seems about half of you weren't able to access the video. I need all the views I can get so I can buy a shirt that actually fits. Thanks for understanding.
I got a PR5000V2 this summer in large part because of the lat pull-down. The final decision was because it was roughly $1500 cheaper to my door and in less time with the delays Rogue had on the RM6 this summer. I also have the globe pull-up bar, and have been a fan but I think that’s just a personal preference. I find it easier to do hanging ab work than with a traditional bar. If you did want to have that flush front look, you could order an extra 41” cross member and then mount the “side-mount” globe. Overall, though I agree with the review and appreciate the openness about the rack and it’s shortcomings. I really enjoy the rack for my regular use, but have found some of the accessories to be not quite as high quality. The feedback on the jammer arms has convinced me to go with another brand if I ever decide to get a pair as well.
I think if I could do the pull up over again I'd get the arched one. Good call on that 41" crossmember. REP seems to do theirs like sorinex (which I get for ease of manufacturing) but I do like how Rogue specifically has top crossmembers that sit flush with the uprights, just a cleaner look IMO. Great rack though as all my gripes are likely things that no one else would ever care about lol.
Excellent review. One thing I did for my belt squat attachment was to loosen up the bolts on the bottom crossmembers and the rear stabilizer. This allowed me to do two things; 1) to widen the distance between the uprights to have 41-1/4” + for the belt attachment to fit, and 2) to move the crossmembers up so the holes for both belt attachment and crossmember to align.
Right on! For me it's not so much the width, but the overall design. I get they wanted to incorporate the mountains, but it's not functional and some wheels or a top prop would have gone a long way.
An excellent video, as always from Brandon! As a French, and more globally a European, every time I see such a setup I am very jealous of the strength stuff available in the USA. In Europe, not only it is more expensive, but also the offer is VERY MUCH lower that the one you have in the US. People like you or Coop would become crazy is you had to cope with this 😭. In the upper segment, we solely have rogue (at 1.5/2x the price that the Americans pay, i.e. overpriced) or ATX (German company, more or less an equivalent of REP). I can't wait for REP to finally come to Europe! Happy lifting to all of you 💪
Thanks for the review! This really helped me decide on the rack I was going to get. I would probably come to the same conclusion you had about the iso arms. If you are trying to get them outta there let me know they sold out instantly the other day. I really do like the lat/row configuration and was a big factor in the decision. Thanks again, keep it up!
Thx for the overview. Very happy with my PR-4000. Can live without the gigantic hardware, numbered holes and the logo name plate. For my purpose the functionality is the same at a lower price. Plus it was in stock. Also this sucker is sturdy as hell as a 4 post 30” without bolting down and just the lat/row attachment.
Yay the video works!!!!!!!!! Go Brandon!!!! A very fair and balanced review! The sorinex and rogue lever arms are also heavy and difficult for many people to move haha
The main reason I won’t ever get a Rep rack is they won’t let me build one and order it like Rogue does. I’m not going to try to play the game of trying to fight with everyone else and scramble just to get a rack. It’s a good video though thank you Brandon as always for going over all of the details, it’s much appreciated and I trust what you have to say. Will always support the channel.
This is the main thing driving me away from them. I feel like I have mere moments to make decisions whenever something becomes available. Let me pick my color and options man! And then you get some of what you need, but other items aren't in stock. I'm so tired of watching their page fo updates. And it's items like safeties that won't be in stock at all, haha! I'll wait, but let me get that full order in, haha!
@@persistentconsistency Yep, I’d rather pay a bit more if it means I get to pick the rack the way I want. It’s the center piece of my gym and I don’t wanna settle if I have the choice with my dollar.
@@kozmo7 And now, having watched a few more of Brandon's videos, I've realized how easy it is to use some Rep attachments in place of the overly-expensive Rogue versions (J cups, flip down safeties, spotter arms, dip attachment). Switched gears and am 100% going with a Rogue rack. These youtube videos and home gym websites (garage-gyms site has been invaluable!) are a godsend.
I have no first hand experience, but Rep’s quality seems pretty solid. I just lean toward supporting “Made in the USA”. That said, I really wish Rogue would make a similar plate loaded lat pull down option. I’m not a fan of the Slinger in any form.
@@BasementBrandon I’ve only ever squatted in my 24, so I’m used to it and not claustrophobic at all. It’s too bad they discontinued the X2. With the welded cross members, it was one of their sturdiest racks, and the shorty came in at 78”, perfect for the basement dwellers. Good thing I got all the attachments I think I’ll ever need!!
Why will REP not allow pre-orders? I want to order the PR-5000 93” in stainless steel with quite a few add ons. I know it’s not currently in stock, but I would like to be able to put all the items together and pay one shipping cost when they are all ready instead of paying multiple shipping costs by piecing my rack together like I’m rummaging thru a salvage yard. I’ve emailed and called them and I don’t think they understand how much more shipping could be if I have to make 7-8 purchases to piece together 1 rack!
The Athena is exactly why i just bought the pr5000 today. The athena and than throw on the lat pulldown/low row selectorize stack and now you have a functional trainer, lat pulldown/low row and power rack. I had to decide between rogue just for the trolley lever arms or rep athena and for the space and how much more I think the athena puts out, it was an easy choice now. I was able to test the athena at Reps Showroom in California and I was very impressed
Nice review.. I had ordered mine a few weeks ago. Also, pulled the trigger on that Ares pulley system. 80" H x 30" D + 16" extension.. bought the front spotter arms and flip down spotter arms. I do agree that it's hard to order the rack when the colors you want are out of stock. I wanted the green uprights, but they were not available at the time I wanted to make the purchase. I settled for the metallic black. Which, I do like after seeing it in person. They do a great job at packaging. I bought Fray Fitness's Savage Storage rack. Their packaging sucks. Some hardware was missing when that arrived. But, customer service did have replacements shipped out.
Fun fact: I'm thinking I may buy 41" crossmembers and bolt them to the top of the rack so I can use a DIY cable setup. The width of the rack between uprights is 41", so it's pretty convenient.
We need a review on the rep fitness change plates vs the rogue fitness change plates. Concerned the metal insert on the rep fitness change plates will slide off the barbell too easily as compared to the friction that the rubber throughout the rogue change plates provides
Hey Brandon - One thing that I wish you had talked about and shown more of in the review is how it’s 41” inches wide vs rogues 43”. I take it that you mostly just used this rack for the attachments and didn’t squat and bench much in it? Seems like 41” inches is a superior width to 43” so you don’t have to worry about hitting the bar on the uprights and j cups. I wish Rogue would allow you to custom order 41” top crossmembers.
TBH while that is a pro of this rack, it's also a con for me when it comes to bench. I'm a bit taller (6'4") with longer arms and when I bench I hit the safeties with my elbows. I actually prefer the wider rack.
Love what you've done with the REP (converting it to a half rack on INSTA). Agree, that I wish they were 3# vs 2.95X2.95. Great deal for what you get and most "single pin" attachments are gong to mesh up well. Thanks for the honest and detailed review. As you know I'm putting together a Sorinex at my workplace gym with Jammer Arms (Super heavy). How was your experience with the REP Arms? Are they easy to adjust (up/down), or heavy and a pain in the A** to move?
Hi Brandon. I am in the market for an upgrade to my budget power rack and am stuck trying to choose between the Rep 5000 and the Rogue RM3. I only do the basic compound lifts, squats, deadlifts, bench press, standing press, and barbell rows. I plan to purchase few if any attachments other than the stabilizing front feet that both companies offer. You have reviewed / owned both. If you had to choose, which one would you go with if the difference in price is not an issue. Also, your channel is one of the few subscriptions I have not cancelled since your reviews and other information are genuine and professional.
So this probably won't help you much... but, if it were ME, I'd go with the Rogue set up. I personally find their ecosystem to just be better in general. However, for most people, given what you laid out, I'd say the REP would be the better choice as it's likely a few hundred cheaper.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks Brandon. After watching more reviews of both products, each can have issues with what is shipped, i.e., parts missing, etc. Since I am a 2 hour drive from Rogue, these problems may be easier to solve than shipping something back to a distant company. Very much appreciate your reply and also your channel.
@@BasementBrandon one thing that I wish rogue had was like rep fitness in terms of the lat and low row pulley. I haven’t gotten the slinger because I feel like you said it’s not as versatile and it’s way up top. Have you gotten the rogue lat bench and the other thing in to test with the slinger?
Hi Brandon! Nice review & was thinking about combining the ROGUE RM-3 with TITAN 24-in Extension, but afraid that the holes wouldn't line up; what do you (or anyone) think? Thanks!
Hey Brandon, I didn't fully understand your concern with the REP header, holes in the back, interfering with the lat pulldown attachment. Could you please explain that in" PowerRacks for Dummies" terms.
ah not necessarily with the lat pull down, but attachments in general. Lets say I wanted to mount something vertically on the name plate, you only have access from the back, which renders them useless IMO.
I’m probably going to get the lat pulley system, I’m not too impressed with the other attachments. I probably wouldn’t use them anyway! Thanks for posting!
Great review. ISO arm's collecting dust in garage corner's all over america! The lat pulldown looks awesome. Everyone is wondering how much did your entire rack set up run you? I found REP got expensive when you started customizing it.
Excellent review. Super helpful as I was thinking of buying one soon. I would be curious to know how much the upcoming Ares cable attachment would cost and whether they would release a plate loaded version.
My one miner complaint I have on rep fitness was buying one thing at a time. I get it. Its nice to make it your own modifications and customize to your needs. But it can be a pain neck because it could be nice to buy it all in one. Depending on what model you want. Because customizing can break your bank. For me i had to buy one at a time and that was a pain in the neck. Also due to covid its been a nightmare to wait for things to come back in stock.
@@BasementBrandon Not saying out of disrespect to them. Or bashing them. They are good company with good products they might need to reconsider on there purchasing policy.
I can't understand why these companies don't sell a set of smaller/larger UHMW pads for their attachments so they fit perfect on their competitors racks. I get that Rogue likely would never do that, but the import ones you would think would be a slam dunk. I also don't know why Rogue doesn't put any UHMW on their attachments as well, I'm probably going to put import stuff on my Rogue rack just so it doesn't beat the heck out of the uprights.
Thank you for this very helpful and informative video. Three things I want to see concerns the lat tower attachment. 1) is how deep can the bench be pushed into the rack with the lat tower? 2) is can one lay on the bench and do lat rows? 3) is to do a lying row, can you pullstraight down or do you have to pull down and out/towards you? I'm 6'9" and I do antagonist supersets. So if I do a bench press I follow with a bench pull using the lat bar and tower if that makes sense. This is pretty critical for me. I know I can do other varieties to compensate but I find this streamlines transition time and keeps me working the same plane. Sorry for the book but I'm looking for specifics.
it's pretty shallow in this set up, due to how it mounts to a bottom stablizer. Makes incline work more difficult b/c the bench is hard to move far enough back.
@@BasementBrandon A concern I have that's prevented me from ordering the lat pulldown attachment is whether or not a spotter is going to fit back there when I'm benching. Can you elaborate on this?
Hey great review! I've watched it at least twice now. I am considering Rep rack solely for the cable attachment and was wondering if it is possible to attach it to the Rogue rack with no issues. My greatest concern is the bottom crossmember not fitting in the Rogue rack. Thanks boss!
Would be really interested to see if that Rep lat/row fits the Rogue rack. Ended up just getting one of Reps cheaper 1000 series racks due to the inventory situation right now. Really like the lat/row attachment for it so far. As for the belt squat. I seen several people note that they stand on some weight plates to get help deal with the depth issue. I know Coop mentioned some of the same issues in his review.
@@BasementBrandon That lat/row system is the big draw for me in a rack. Really reduces the space you need for the versatility it brings. Just was never sold on Rogue's slinger and Coop's hacked rack with a Rogue Rhino the only real alternative.
Titan for the $ hands down. Have a cheap old t2 short rack in basement. It's almost 8 yrs old now & had zero issues. Have the basic j-hooks with angle iron sandwiched on bottom. Squatted 625lb & shrugged 745lb of those j-hooks.
If the side mounted globe pullup bar mounted in front onto a crossmember would be an interference (and likely I imagine it would). I think then I might opt for the Sorinex Cliff Hanger Handles instead. Have you ever contemplated these for either of your racks?
Thanks Brandon! Excellent Review! Always great to hear out your opinions of different options! I am planning to purchase the Rogue RM-3 Monster Rack 2.0 as I do feel that 30” (like you said) is enough to do most home gym workout. However, I am interested in adding the REP Lat and Low Row Attachment to the Rogue RM-3, do you think the REP will fit onto the RM-3 properly? I prefer this Lat/Low Row attachment than the Rogue Slinger too - so I want to ask for your expert opinion if this would actually work before I make the purchase - Thanks Brandon!!! Looking forward to your reply!! Cheers Adrian
I just got a PR4000 30+16 and I agree with you do NOT like incline benching inside the rack or shoulders. I'm sort of wide and elbows hit the safeties. I remember you saying you lift outside the rack is that just incline bench and shoulders or do you prefer squatting outside too? Would I need the front stabilizers do you think?
You're so right about that got spotter arms and now lifting outside of it with no issues. Got roller Jcups which make it so much better as I always start in center now which was another issue that I fixed. Got the Bridge ones they're amazing.@@reconstructionwouldhavesav9472
With a 4-post rack of 41” depth, would the lat/low row attachment take up much usable space within the rack? Love the quality of this review and video, Brandon.
takes up the same amount of space, mounts to the rear posts on a 4 post (or middle posts of a 6 post). The stabilizer it connects to angles back and the bottom foot plate can be removed when not in use.
@@BasementBrandon Appreciate the info about the foot plate being removable. Does the rear stabilizer angle to the rear enough to make incline bench in the rack simple to set up?
When you bench inside the rack on your PR-500 V2, do your arms rub up against the safety straps, sometimes catching on them? The reason I ask is I have a squat stand that is 42" between inside posts and I've bruised nerves running through my elbows from banging them against the metal safety spotter arms when benching. I see the REP PR-5000 is only 41" inside post to inside post...I'd get safety straps but worry that with my typical bench grip width my arms would catch on the safety straps. I'm 6'2" but don't think I take an unusually wide grip. I've heard some rogue racks have wider inside dimensions...I like the PR-5000 value proposition better but maybe I should go with rogue instead? Thanks for any input.
@@BasementBrandon So, ignoring price/value, do you prefer to squat/bench in your RM6 or your PR-5kV2? Also, am I correct in assuming that rogue still doesn't have as good of a lat/row attachment (not counting the rhino) setup for their racks compared to REPs?
Any ideas if the Rogue Leg Rollers would work on the PR5000? I saw the other video you made about the Rogue leg rollers and how sturdy the attachment was compared to the REP pins.
Thank you for the detailed review! It seems that the plate storage is blocking the loading pins for the lay pull down. How easy it is to load the lat pull down?
Question.... wondering what is the tape it looks like you have on the seams of your flooring? Building a basement gym and just got my horse stall mats in but wondering about the seems if necessary to tape or cover in a sence. Love the review too just ordered my Rep rack.
I like to use 2" wide gorilla tape to cover seams. This keeps moisture and debris out from under the mats, and also hides any corners/edges that don't line up perfectly.
Hey just watched this video. Looking at getting the pr5000 for my own home gym set up. I saw in the comments you were waiting on trolley arms from rogue. Could you do a short Rogue to Rep review on those when you get them in?
Long time follower :). Strongly considering this w/ the Ares. Looking hard at the Rogue RM4 2.0 though as well and adding surplus strength attachments or Lat Row machine but space is limited so it'd be tight with rack + other machine. If space is limited (jealous of your basement lol) would you recommend the REP 5000 + Ares? Have the done any big updates since this review?
Brandon thanks for the great review videos. I wanted to ask you two questions. 1. Rack Height- my basement ceiling measures 104", so would a 93" rack be too tall (I'm thinking pull-ups could be an issue)? Should I go with the 80" rack instead using the multi-grip attachment it would actually put the bar height at greater than 80". 2. Could I get your opinion on the new Ares machine vs the lat pull-down you've demonstrated in some of your other videos?
Hi Brandon.... One more question. I know that you sold this rack. But lets assume you did not have the lat pull down because you wanted to wait for the Ares. Do you feel the leg extensions would be needed in conjunction with the Iso Arms to prevent the rack from tipping? Keep in mind it would still be 6 post and have weights on it. Thank you
@@BasementBrandon thank for all your help. I’ve flip flopped multiple times but I’m planning on Rogue now with the Surplus Strength lat pull down. The quality of Rep vs Rogue attachments and made in America is what is tilting my decision.
Hey man, on a rack with 16 inch crossmembers for the storage section. If all your plates were 450mm diameter bumper plates, would the plates hit each other when you were racking the bar for a squat? Hope my question makes sense. If I don’t need 24 inches, I’d rather decrease the footprint but I noticed your weights were actual iron and not just bumper plates. Thanks!
Hey Brandon, Is there any reason the "globe pull up bar" can't move forward one hole and bolt into the front post? I see everyone has it back like that but just can't understand why you couldn't move it forward.
Love the video, considering this rack but in white. What is the exact depth from your wall to the front foot extension? I will have the same 6-post set up with Lat/Row attachment. Thank you.
Great video and love the channel. New subscriber and I’m about to purchase a PR-4000. I’m only able to get the 80” uprights due to basement ceiling but going back and forth on 30” vs 41” cross members. I’ll be getting the weight storage either way. With 80” uprights would a 30” still be sufficient? I understand it’s personal preference but you have a ton more experience with these and variations. Just looking for an opinion. Thank you!
I’m not super experienced, so honestly don’t know. Is it not possible to belt squat from the low pulley. I have the PR-4000 and am able to do this, but not having ever used an actual belt squat, maybe it’s not a good way to do it? I even use the low pulley to do standing calf raises by standing on the foot plate and holding on to the back posts for support. Works great.
You can but it's not ideal. I actually just talked about this in my latest video. For a real belt squat you want the cable to be as vertical as possible (up and down) and you want a ROM that will allow you to break parallel. Most of these other belt squats have a diagonal angle and limit ROM
Do you think the lat pull down attachment would work with a rogue RM4. I have the slinger but it doesn’t do everything I would like with the lat pull down
@@davidstevens8300 @StacyPaul Out of the box no. The rear stabilizer is what it attaches to and the REP is ~2 inches more narrow than a rogue.... I have heard tales of fabricators rigging it together but it would take some degree of metalwork.
Two issues to consider, rep racks are not as wide and they also are a weird height of around 92". If you figure out a mod to make it fit a wider and shorter rack you should in theory be able to use it.
@@BasementBrandon Why has Rogue not made one of these yet? The slinger is functional but it is quite cumbersome to move every time I want to use the bench.
Hi Brandon - can you tell me the total height of the PR5000+ the lat attachment from floor to the top of the pulley? I heard you mention the rack is actually 92" high, and I'm wondering how much ceiling clearance is needed. I think I'm cutting it close.
Great review. Do you have a rough idea the area of space this took up and how much buffer you'd recommend for working around it? I'm guessing the back just needs enough space from the wall for plates. Anything else you would recommend keeping in mind when thinking about comfortably working with this as a 6-post?
The back here needed quite a bit due to the Lat pull down ad on and then you have to figure plates on there as well. The saving grace is that the front section being 30" still makes this roughly the size of a 6 post with 43" depth up front.
Hey Brandon, how has the clear coat held up for you now a couple years later? Would you still recommend this color option or did it start to show more wear after more usage?
Thanks for the review. For the lat pulldown/row attachment, does this affect the ability to bench (flat and incline) inside the rack? Some videos, it looks like the bench can't get deep enough in the rack due to the row portion on the lower rear of the rack. I have a REP AB-3100 bench that I'd be using.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks. Due to my space, I wouldn't be able to bench outside the rack. I'll probably stay with my current setup (sml-1) and maybe get a separate lat pulldown machine
Hey Brandon what do you think of the rml in satin clear color? Is it as nice as on the rep ? And which do you prefer between your white rml and the clear grind. I can't decide. I wish rogue would offer 16 inch weight storage for there racks itw to me the perfect size and stabilizer for a rack .
I have not seen it in person, but have heard 2nd hand that REPs looks better. I like my Rogue overall better (and the color). I ended up getting rid of the REP as I didn't need the redundancy. Still a great rack though!
Nice video! I'm so glad to listen to you before making the move for the ISO arm, to use it already seems like an exercise LOL... What is your opinion if I get the Rogue Level Arm and use it on this REP 5000 v2? I know it will fit but one concern that I have is the Rogue is design for 43" width while REP I think is 41", will the Rogue Level Arm get too adjacent to each other if use on REP?
Awesome review, once I get my dimensions all dialed in I am going with the PR-5000. Just wondering the overall length of your setup? Pretty much from your wall to the front
So mine in terms of the actual cage front to back was 55". If you add on the front feet (which aren't necessary here) that adds another 27" or so. If you add the loadable lat pull down that will add another 13" or so. However they've since released the athena and ares which would be more ideal IMO.
@@BasementBrandon Awesome thanks! I'm currently looking at the PR-5000 with the seclectorized Lat pull down. Not sure if I should go with a 6 post, 30 inch + 16 inch for weight storage/stability or a 4 post with 41 inch depth. Not sure which will benefit the Lat pull down and my setup more. I need to find out the exact length of the 6 post with weight storage and the selectorized Lat pull down attachment.
Question about your flooring. Are those horse stall mats with the seams taped over? If so, what tape did you use? Do you think that flooring would be professional looking for a personal training studio or does it just belong in a garage gym? Thanks!
2" wide gorilla tape (I have a video). I think if you have your stallmats lined up consistently it's not a bad look. It holds up really well and prevents things like water/debris between mats.
Wish i saw this video sooner lol. Kinda regret getting a 41inch. For whatever reason i didn't think it would be that much bigger then a 30inch. Only got it cause i didn't want to bolt down the rack but from what i heard the 30inch is pretty solid. Oh well! lesson learned. Good video!
@@Farquad76.547 was just to long and wasted space. i feel like 30 would of been perfect for me and would of looked better but thats just me. i didnt thgink i'd buy so much stuff lol so its tight
Hey Brandon, had to erase my previous question, too much info... anyways, I wanted to know how long are those safety straps when fully extended? I have a 33.5 inches in depts (inner post to post) and wanted to know if the 30 inch straps would fit within my rack... again, great videos they really helped when creating my home gym. Thank you
What's the name of the other ref fitness half rack you revised on other video? it has the lat pull down attachment, squat attachment leverage arms, etc.
Great review! Assuming you used the lat pull down and lever arms equal amount, would you go Rep with the better lat pull down and inconvenience of the lever arms? Or would you get a Rogue with a Slinger and the better designed trolley arms? I am trying to decide between these two. The Rogue Slinger is a major concern to me. Another option I am considering is the Rogue with Trolley arms and the Surplus Strength lat and low pulleys. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated.
So you could adapt the Rogue arms to REP a lot easier than adapting REP to Rogue. The slinger sucks and I would never recommend it unless maybe someone was putting it on a rhino. The Surplus Strength UPS is loads better in that regard as it can literally be mounted anywhere. The downside there is you still have to figure out how you want to load it. The REP attachment is the best of the 3 in that regard as it's fixed, has weight horns/guide rods. If it were me I'd price out all the options and see what made most sense financially while also giving you what you want (if made in USA is important, etc)
@@BasementBrandon thanks for the feedback. The Rep pricing when you add all the accessories is a pretty big saving, especially with the free shipping they are offering. I am still considering Rogue because I know the quality is superior and of course USA. I saw on your gym tour you have a 30” rack with 24” plate storage. I have a RML3 welded that is 24”, I might just add some 30” cross members and uprights. Thanks again
@@HighSpinSwingSpeed If it's welded I would double check that you have the holes at the top and bottom open to add them. Some of them don't have spots for bolts to connect!
@@BasementBrandon I will check... One more question... You mentioned on one of your videos that you don't really use the lever arms and they are generally in the way. Do you think if you did more body building training like seated rows, shoulder press, etc you would use them more? Thank you for all the feedback and support.
Question about the crossmember depth dimension, on their website, it says crossmember + 8.9". I'm guessing that 8.9" is the depth of both uprights combined (for one side)?
@@BasementBrandon Sorry that didn’t make any sense, I was trying to say that the crossmember length also has to add in the upright lengths . On the dimension page of the Pr-5000 you have to add 8.9 inches to which size crossmember you choose I was wondering where that extra 8.9” came from. Rep responded with: “What the +8.9" is referring to includes both the uprights and footplates for your overall floor space depth. So the uprights are 3" x 3" square tubes (so 3" + 3"), plus those foot plates welded on the very bottom adds just a little bit more (total of 2.9inches, or + 1.45in x2 between them both) of extra length to your overall floor space dimensions. This means you need to add a total of 8.9 inches to your crossmember length, to get the total depth of your rack build.”
The hydra 1” looks interesting since it’s imperial to match rogue. I think prob more 1st party options for rep currently but interested to see where bells goea
I really want to buy this rack but I don’t want to end up bolting it down and ruining the cement in the garage. What do I need to do to make sure it doesn’t tip over without bolting it down?
Do you have any Rogue attachment to Rep vids? I would like to get like 12 3x3 uprights from Rep and link them together use Rogue crossmembers and use Rogue attachments. My only concern here is that since the 3x3 Rep uprights are slightly smaller, would the “1 inch” hardware from the Rogue crossmembers actually fit in the 1 inch holes on the Rep uprights. I saw some pictures where the 1 inch bolts from Rogue was slightly bigger then the ones from Rep. Thanks in advance! 👍
@@BasementBrandon do you know why rogue didn’t put as much detail in the ML version. I’m bummed they took out all the SS parts and yet kept the price basically the same
@@drsoftballcatcher18 Pretty typical of them. Usually the monster version gets the fancier bells and whistles as it's their top of the line rack, where the ML is a scaled down version at a better price point.

@@BasementBrandon Any tips for shortening or adjusting the safety straps?
@@markconcepcion7567 I've seen some go and buy new ones (harbor freight IIRC), but I've never done it myself.
Fantastic review, thanks Brandon! Had the same issue with the J-cups so I might reach out to their customer service. Really appreciate your content!
You should, they've been really good about replacing things that aren't how they should be.
Happy lifting to all of you 💪
ATX looks like it has some good offerings!
Glad I could help!
Right on!!
Yay the video works!!!!!!!!! Go Brandon!!!! A very fair and balanced review! The sorinex and rogue lever arms are also heavy and difficult for many people to move haha
From what I've seen the Rogues are the easiest
The main reason I won’t ever get a Rep rack is they won’t let me build one and order it like Rogue does.
I’m not going to try to play the game of trying to fight with everyone else and scramble just to get a rack.
It’s a good video though thank you Brandon as always for going over all of the details, it’s much appreciated and I trust what you have to say. Will always support the channel.
Yeah it's a shit show these days. They used to have a pretty nice step by step process like Rogue but for some reason got away from it.
@@persistentconsistency
Yep, I’d rather pay a bit more if it means I get to pick the rack the way I want. It’s the center piece of my gym and I don’t wanna settle if I have the choice with my dollar.
@@kozmo7 Agreed! The only thing that's tough is those Rogue attachment prices. Good GOD! Haha. It's why I'm still stuck and haven't made a decision.
Back with another 👍 Thanks again for the info 👊
appreciate you man. ended up getting some mass storage, but spent way more than I wanted lol.
@@BasementBrandon yes that sounds about right 🙃 it’s worth it in the long run though...looking forward to seeing it 👍

my dude, thank you.
Awesome and thorough review Brandon.
Thanks big Tony
Finally rep has the 80 inch metallic black uprights back in stock just ordered them right away you never know when they will be out of stock.
Right on!
Yeah.
Idk if it's the camera focus or the lighting but it really looks like you're standing in front of a green screen lmao
Hah sorry, I actually shot this at a slower aperture to stop it from fading the background as much as usual.
Great review. I went with the PR4000 for the Westside spacing. Very happy with it and like you I went with the 6 post version for plate storage
Solid rack!
I have no first hand experience, but Rep’s quality seems pretty solid. I just lean toward supporting “Made in the USA”. That said, I really wish Rogue would make a similar plate loaded lat pull down option. I’m not a fan of the Slinger in any form.
agreed!!
Titan x2, 24” depth with 10” extension. Super small footprint!! They don’t sell them anymore though 🙁
I think 24" is doable for sure. I love the R3 from rogue which is basically what the x2 is a clone of. Don't think Rogue made extensions however.
I think b/c when they did before, some shipments got delayed and people got really mad.
Looks good. I noticed a lot of people are not overly excited about iso arms. I'm going with the REP 5000. I love the clear coat.
The REP offering is especially attractive now b/c of the ares and athena.
Thanks for the review Brandon. I'm planning to buy one soon, also clear grind, looks awesome 💪
Def is a sharp looking rack!
Now the wait, Don't think it ships for a few months right?
@@BasementBrandon Not sure when it's expected to ship. Fortunately, I'm patient.
Fun fact: I'm thinking I may buy 41" crossmembers and bolt them to the top of the rack so I can use a DIY cable setup. The width of the rack between uprights is 41", so it's pretty convenient.
Could do that.
We need a review on the rep fitness change plates vs the rogue fitness change plates. Concerned the metal insert on the rep fitness change plates will slide off the barbell too easily as compared to the friction that the rubber throughout the rogue change plates provides
You know I have some of those but don't think I've used them.
If you move the “pull-up bar” one hole foreword you can probably put the jammer at the last hole
This is as far forward as it can go, it doesn't line up otherwise.
@@BasementBrandon ops, I thought it could
Love what you've done with the REP (converting it to a half rack on INSTA).
They suck. Coop has a great video comparing all 3!
When I bought it, there was only black and red. I would've liked the green or even the orange. But the red is stunning.
Yeah lots of options now (when they're in stock)
This is legit my 8th time watching this video lol. Love tbe content man
Legend!
I can honestly say if I didn’t buy my monster rack a few years back from rogue I would of bought this rep rack forsure.
I think if you're just buying for the first time you likely won't notice some of these little issues I have.
Awesome review as I am searching for them on the pr 5000. I am getting the Athena with it, wonder if I still need the rear lat pull-down?
No first hand experience with it but maybe check out @glucksgym
Does Rep have training partners for sale?
🙋🏽♂️
Maybe I should get some if they do.
If they were made in Russia you might be able to order a bride as an accessory.
That piece looks sick and Sturdy. I was looking at investing in a rack for heavy lifting. This one looks promising to me
Def some nice options.
Hi Brandon! Nice review & was thinking about combining the ROGUE RM-3 with TITAN 24-in Extension, but afraid that the holes wouldn't line up; what do you (or anyone) think? Thanks!
it's my understanding it will work. I believe Coop from GarageGymReviews frankensteined somthing together mixing parts.
I've been telling you, it's awesome!
@@BasementBrandon yes you have!
Great review. ISO arm's collecting dust in garage corner's all over america! The lat pulldown looks awesome. Everyone is wondering how much did your entire rack set up run you? I found REP got expensive when you started customizing it.
For this set up (which is literally everything you could get) it would be about $3500-$4000.
Excellent review. Super helpful as I was thinking of buying one soon. I would be curious to know how much the upcoming Ares cable attachment would cost and whether they would release a plate loaded version.
I bet it's pricey.
I told them this recently in a discussion I had. It's nice to customize but makes ordering miserable IMO
@@BasementBrandon Yeah I agree were as rogue or other companies you can get it all in one depending what you want.
In speaking with REP at least, they view themselves as a direct competitor to Rogue. They'd prob prefer people buy into their complete ecosystem.
@@jrc1232 You can get back there still and stand. Prob have to be a bit of a contortionist depending on where the rack is located, but doable.
Finally video loads up
Lol right
blame youtube ;)
I’ve watched a lot of your videos and I have to admit, you don’t seem to “excited” about this Rep rack. Once you go Rogue you don’t go back?
It's a solid rack, I think if you've watched a lot of my videos you'd know I don't get excited for much!
Great review mate
Thank you kindly
Hey the video works. Thanks for the review
thanks for coming back lol
Hey great review! I've watched it at least twice now. I am considering Rep rack solely for the cable attachment and was wondering if it is possible to attach it to the Rogue rack with no issues. My greatest concern is the bottom crossmember not fitting in the Rogue rack. Thanks boss!
You can't as Rogue racks are 2" wider and different heights.
The clear grind looks great but it looks like they cut corners everywhere else.
I think there's also only so much you can do with an upright vs an attachment.
@Danny Marino I don't own a rep rack, I was just speculating. I would go with Brandon's observations.
Doesn't as is. Different widths/heights
X-3 since 2014 in a commercial setting, and it is Still kicking ass !
Nice dude!
Clear coat looks amazing. Will they clear grind the safety arms and name-plate crossmembers though?
Not that I'm aware of.
If the side mounted globe pullup bar mounted in front onto a crossmember would be an interference (and likely I imagine it would). I think then I might opt for the Sorinex Cliff Hanger Handles instead. Have you ever contemplated these for either of your racks?
I did but my issue is they hang down, so being taller it leaves me with less ROM
Responded to your other comment!
If you have weight storage on it, which I assume you do, likely not necessary.
Change the crossmembers with a wider pair from Rogue. Benching in a narrow rack sucks.
@@persistentconsistency to an extent, check out my follow up video after I turned it into a half rack. I show this.
@@BasementBrandon I think I watched that one, but will gladly do it again haha. Geeking out on this home gym thing the past two weeks!
Yep! Was annoying but doable. The flip side is with the wider Rogue rack some find they clip the uprights on unracking squats.
I prefer the sizing of my Rogue rack personally, but I think for most, squatting in the REP will be preferable.
Any ideas if the Rogue Leg Rollers would work on the PR5000? I saw the other video you made about the Rogue leg rollers and how sturdy the attachment was compared to the REP pins.
The rogue monster ones would work fine. I actually am using a straydog one now b/c the pad is firmer and longer.
Thank you for the detailed review! It seems that the plate storage is blocking the loading pins for the lay pull down. How easy it is to load the lat pull down?
They're not at all, it's offset.
Even though I watched the original upload I watched this one too.......
appreciate ya dude.
Does REP have something like the Rogue Shrimp Trawler that can be used to hang a heavybag off the side of a rack?
Not that I'm aware of, but I haven't really looked tbh.
I notice that the front extented legs you had mention, those were from Roge and that they were fited on the REP PR5000.? IS THAT RIGHT.??
No these ones shown are from REP
I went with Rep over Rogue for the Ares cable attachment.
Very enticing these days!
Thank you for the information!
Any time!
Rogues are so much better for adjustability. However, you have to ask yourself is it worth paying 2x as much?
Long time follower :). Strongly considering this w/ the Ares. Looking hard at the Rogue RM4 2.0 though as well and adding surplus strength attachments or Lat Row machine but space is limited so it'd be tight with rack + other machine. If space is limited (jealous of your basement lol) would you recommend the REP 5000 + Ares? Have the done any big updates since this review?
I do not have the Ares, but from the looks of it, it could bang out a lot of good things in a really small footprint.
93" is fine for that height IMO. Ares looks more functional, but question is do you want to drop 3x the money?
Hi Brandon.... One more question. I know that you sold this rack. But lets assume you did not have the lat pull down because you wanted to wait for the Ares. Do you feel the leg extensions would be needed in conjunction with the Iso Arms to prevent the rack from tipping? Keep in mind it would still be 6 post and have weights on it. Thank you
Nope not necessary!
@@BasementBrandon thank for all your help. I’ve flip flopped multiple times but I’m planning on Rogue now with the Surplus Strength lat pull down. The quality of Rep vs Rogue attachments and made in America is what is tilting my decision.
Great review👍
Thanks Dax.
Thanks!
I’m not sure tbh. You could position the pins to a place where they wouldn’t hit if it were a problem.
Hey Brandon, Is there any reason the "globe pull up bar" can't move forward one hole and bolt into the front post? I see everyone has it back like that but just can't understand why you couldn't move it forward.
front post hole and side crossmember hole do not line up.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks Brandon! Appreciate the info and it's shame the attachment plate on the crossmember are recessed to maintain hole spacing.
Love the video, considering this rack but in white. What is the exact depth from your wall to the front foot extension? I will have the same 6-post set up with Lat/Row attachment. Thank you.
This rack now lives at a friends house but if I recall it's around 89"
Great video and love the channel. New subscriber and I’m about to purchase a PR-4000. I’m only able to get the 80” uprights due to basement ceiling but going back and forth on 30” vs 41” cross members. I’ll be getting the weight storage either way. With 80” uprights would a 30” still be sufficient? I understand it’s personal preference but you have a ton more experience with these and variations. Just looking for an opinion. Thank you!
I've found for most 30" is fine!
I have the slinger but it doesn’t do everything I would like with the lat pull down
I would also like to know this
@@davidstevens8300 @StacyPaul Out of the box no.
Good review!!
Thanks dude!
Great video man!! What's the total depth if you include the lat pulldown and front stabilizers? Also, are the front stabilizers even necessary?
Front feet are not. Depth ends up being around 89" if you do it like I have.
Hi Brandon - can you tell me the total height of the PR5000+ the lat attachment from floor to the top of the pulley? I heard you mention the rack is actually 92" high, and I'm wondering how much ceiling clearance is needed. I think I'm cutting it close.
I no longer have it but it does add another 2-3"
Great review.
This rack seems most ideal souly based on the high/low row.
Time to comment and upgrade from the titan
I think titan also has an add on lat pull/low row.
Hey Brandon, how has the clear coat held up for you now a couple years later? Would you still recommend this color option or did it start to show more wear after more usage?
Held up great, it lives in my friends garage now. It's a great finish if that's what you're looking for, just pricey.
@@BasementBrandon why’d you get rid of it?

Thanks for the review. For the lat pulldown/row attachment, does this affect the ability to bench (flat and incline) inside the rack? Some videos, it looks like the bench can't get deep enough in the rack due to the row portion on the lower rear of the rack. I have a REP AB-3100 bench that I'd be using.
Can impact incline for sure.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks. Due to my space, I wouldn't be able to bench outside the rack. I'll probably stay with my current setup (sml-1) and maybe get a separate lat pulldown machine
Nice set up bro 👌 🔥💯
Thanks dude!
I think the bigger concern is since REPs tubing is a little thinner will that impact how the Rogue arm typically moves up and down with rollers.
Did you ever try and attach the rogue 50 cal arms to the pr 5000 rack? I was also wondering if they would fit
We’ve been waiting :)
me too lol
I have been shopping for these. Rep 5000 v2? Or rogue monster? Ceiling is 94.5 inches.
Both will fit, think you need to see which width you prefer (rogue is 43, rep is 41) and which attachments you like better (like the lat pull down).
@@brianskies If you can afford the space, it's worth it IMO. Otherwise you'd have to keep your weights on the floor or buy a weight tree.
Good video!
Could always just buy new crossmembers!
@@BasementBrandon Very true but for now its working. Made a few adjustments
@@Mexi99 why do you regret 41” I was thinking of getting that depth
@@Farquad76.547 was just to long and wasted space. i feel like 30 would of been perfect for me and would of looked better but thats just me. i didnt thgink i'd buy so much stuff lol so its tight
Hey Brandon, had to erase my previous question, too much info... anyways, I wanted to know how long are those safety straps when fully extended? I have a 33.5 inches in depts (inner post to post) and wanted to know if the 30 inch straps would fit within my rack... again, great videos they really helped when creating my home gym. Thank you
Hey John, shoot me an email (in description) and I'll try to check and get back to you.
What's the name of the other ref fitness half rack you revised on other video? it has the lat pull down attachment, squat attachment leverage arms, etc.
It's the same as this one.
I'm not really sure what you're asking, sorry but could you rephrase it?
@@seanster3959 makes more sense. You also have to account for more space to load plates on the end as it does not account for that either.
@@BasementBrandon will take that into account as well. Thank you for the help as always
Hi Brandon! I really like how clear your voice and sound is. What kind of microphone do you use?
It's just a rode wireless go w/lav
Hey. What are your thoughts of getting a Bells of Steel hydra rack vs the REP 5000???
The hydra 1” looks interesting since it’s imperial to match rogue. I think prob more 1st party options for rep currently but interested to see where bells goea
I really want to buy this rack but I don’t want to end up bolting it down and ruining the cement in the garage.
What do I need to do to make sure it doesn’t tip over without bolting it down?
If you're going 6 post you don't need to bolt. If going 4 post you might want to invest in some feet to stabilize, or rack storage.
I do not, but I don't see an issue with swapping bolts none of them are a super tight fit.
@@BasementBrandon Nice, thanks for the info!
Brandon , can you do a detailed review on the iso arms? Like how easily or hard they are to adjust up and down
They suck to adjust. Was one of the reasons I didn't end up using them much.
Do you on on going trolley arms? I’m on the fence about them due to the price tag on the ML version and lack of detail they skimped on.
@@drsoftballcatcher18 I have the monster versions on the way So I'll be able to give you some comparison feedback then.
