This thing def. adds a lot of versatility in a small amount of space. It'll be interesting to see how this compares to the Athena for people's use case.
You can definitely move to benching on the front uprights if you need to, you have a potential 620 lb counter weight and a 900+lb rack, would be highly skeptical of it somehow tipping unless you're pushing massive weights. And if you really want to be safe you could probably throw on the Front Foot extensions to feel extra safe.
Hmm I wonder if you could add a metal extension to give the cables more width without compromising the cable feel/integrity from the added off angle and tension

Definitely compare it to the Athena, and it’d be tough since you’d have to separate the front two uprights from your setup, but reviewing the Ares just as the “half rack” setup (shown when you mentioned the basement friendly 80” version in the vid).
I’d like to see this side to side with something similar from life fitness…. When you get to the $4,000++ price range, you gotta compare it to the competitors…especially if your rack is a wall mounted one, or just not compatible with ares, adding the price of a new squat rack I. The price
You can't uses rogues hip thruster bench because they have different widths. With that being said they need to make a hip thruster bench or a leg attachment for the pull downs
Great review. Wish this was announced before I bought an Inspire functional trainer. I would love this to save space in my base, but it's just not practical for me to replace everything :\
they've been promising for over a year to have a version of Ares that connects to existing plate-loaded lat pulldown so that existing owners could simply add Ares in a most cost-effective way vs splurging on a brand-new setup that replaces what they have, but clearly existing owners aren't a priority.
Great video! Appreciate the detailed review. I’m curious whether you think this can be put on a Rogue rack somehow, and/or if you think Rogue will respond at some point to this offering.
Rogue does not have an 80" or 93" rack. Rogue's racks are 49" vs 47" wide. Rogue does not have a 16" weight storage option. The cable lengths would not be the right length, so they would not work.
First, let me say I love your reviews. You guys rock! Moving on to this review... This is a game changer and Rep seems to be doing a great job of stepping things up. I know from other reviews you've done that competitor attachments seem to fit with the PR-5000 as part of this setup. Will the Prime Prodigy attachments like their low row foot plate (which can really facilitate mid rows) and their lat pulldown seat work on the Rep PR-5000? Those are much better in my opinion for quick outside rack changes. Thoughts? thx
Hey Coop, could you do a video going over different company racks to show what brand uprights are compatible to be able to go from a 4 post to a 6 post. Mainly to see how holes line up with each other
@@marceldoe9684 Got the PR5000, its better built, got a crazy discount, I can build it how I want, plus I go the ISO arms and can do anything I was gonna do with the smith machine.
@@greentube461 True. I was referring to inside the rack. You won’t be able to move far enough back to do incline bench on a 4 post Ares. It is only compatible with 16” cross members.
Hey coop thanks for saying it needs band pegs also to replace the rogue rhino just use a 4:1 snatch block two pulleys on top and two at the bottom with a hook , attach it next to a hanging chain and hook with the same strap method they’ve got for the rep belt squat that you made a video of from the top pull up bar using the rep belt squat, so even if you maxed out at with both stacks at a total of 310lbs it would still feel like only 77lbs to hook it , you could make it easier by making a foot loop if you run the cable of the top snatch block and loop it at the top of one of the pulleys going down then you just put your body weight on it with your foot on it. Next video i hope 🤞how to use the rep belf squat with Ares.
Or just keep the Rhino as a stand alone. What you're describing is far too much work and hassle to set up. I just want to throw plates on and do the work.
Not much hassle you do it once and you’re set up is done for every other time .i just went into detail in case coop picked up the idea but basically step, hook ,hook in belt ,push off slightly and rep away its the same idea as rep has themselves for their belt squat but adjusted for Ares since it isn’t a plate loaded version witch means you can’t load plates at the top of the rep you have to preselect the weight from the bottom of the rep. it would however be light years easier to have a plate loaded version of Ares with its 6 termination points and just place a hook, load and rep away.maybe in the not so distant future.
I was really debatig if I should get theses over traditional free weights. I'm glad I made the purchase. They are easy to use and hold on to. I like that you can do 1/2 lbs. It's quick to change the weight as well
What rack depth do you recommend for a basement home gym? I have a good amount of space but would you say 30 or 41? I want to do Incline bench with my squat rack and will be built with the ares. What do you recommend?! Thanks!
I am putting mine 12" from the wall, but it needs to be at least far enough for plates if you are going to use the back columns for weight plate storage.
Great review, thank you sir. Do you think it's possible to attach the high/low fixed cables to jammer arms for resistance? Not sure if the angles would be too off for smooth movement. I'm also stuck with a rogue for the moment, but want to seat this up against its back where my rhino is sitting.
Thanks for the detailed review. Did you happen to ask the Rep folks why the weight stack is transverse to the cross braces? Seems that it would be more space efficient if the weights were in line with the cross braces.
I was wondering the same thing. Might be more advantageous to put them in the middle posts (6-post rack) so you can use high and low fixed- position cable attachments.
Same here! I was wondering if the low-row pulleys could attach to the Iso/Jammer arms with small extension chains. That could open up all sorts of movements with a different strength curve like Hammer Strength rows, Chest Press, Leg extentions. Missed opportunity?
Would love to see rep bring out a Smith Machine Kit- That would truly make this the best All in one trainer for the home. Till then the Force USA range probaly have the most options. Minus the trainer either the Rep or the Prime HLP are probably the best
Just did a quick build on the site and if you don't have a cage it's about 4 grand for a 6 post model with a few attachments. That's a lot of money but it really is a lot of functionality too.
Hey coop I've got a 6 post rack with 41" crossmembers in the front. My posts have weight storage on the back, rogue's jammer arms attached to the middle post and nothing on the front posts, I was wondering your thoughts on integrating the ares into this setup, if it is possible to have rogue's arms on the front posts along with the ares or if i would / should keep the rogue arms on the middle post, the only reason I am hesitant is that the space between the 16" crossmembers is pretty narrow to get into to move the jammer arms up and down with the weight storage there.
I'd love a comparison of the foot prints of these systems. i have a 9.25' x 11.25' shed with really tight tolerances on equipment and i want to upgrade from a rogue monster lite to something like this but can't get a good look at how it all fits in a small space.
If you are just looking at the footpring you can go on reps site and build out the ares rack you want and they have an augmented reality feature where it generates your rack in an exact 1:1 scale and you can see how it fits in your space
Coop could you review the Bells of Steel cable system that allows that works with their rack attachments? Seems like a cool budget option, kind of like a budget Prodigy rack from Prime.
Does this fit on any other rack like rogue monster or lite? And would it be cheaper and better to just get a titan functional trainer which I am planning to get come this black Friday? Mostly looking to do cableflys, tricep pushdowns and lat pulldowns.
The width of rogue racks and rep racks are different, so I don’t think the Ares would work. The Athena releasing from Rep in December May work on Rogue racks as it doesn’t cross the middle of the rack.

they've been promising for over a year to have a version of Ares that connects to existing plate-loaded lat pulldown so that existing owners could simply add Ares in a most cost-effective way vs splurging on a brand-new setup that replaces what they have, but clearly existing owners aren't a priority.
Really detailed review 💯
Great review! Super excited...mine arrives this Friday!!!
Good on you Coop. Another well done vid. Cheers
Would love REP to expand to UK shipping! Any ideas when this might happen? Such great innovation
Finally, what we have all been waiting for.
Good job Sir. Well done
Thoughts? thx
My gym just replaced all their old barbells with REP Gladiators and they’re awesome. Not a bad company.
Hey Coop, could you do a video going over different company racks to show what brand uprights are compatible to be able to go from a 4 post to a 6 post. Mainly to see how holes line up with each other
Due to Coop's honest feedback, by the time I'm able to purchase one, all the things he complained about will be fixed. Thanks Coop!
Waiting on Ares vs Prime Prodigy review. Thank you Coop
Definitely 👍🏼
There should be a comparison between this and the Rogue Monster/Monster Lite Cave!
I'm currently stuck between this and the ForceUSA 20 so I'd love to see them compared.
What did you decide on? Same dilemna
@@marceldoe9684 Got the PR5000, its better built, got a crazy discount, I can build it how I want, plus I go the ISO arms and can do anything I was gonna do with the smith machine.
How did you get a discount?
@@jimsmith7887 November and in person pick up
Boxes sitting in my garage!!! Coop, you need to make a half rack, 4 post review on the ares.
I would think it would be no different from a 6 post rack, except you can't lift inside the rack and there would be no way to do incline bench.
@@markhalstead2386 You could in half rack mode, with spotter arms out front. Worthwhile tradeoff imho
Not much hassle you do it once and you’re set up is done for every other time .i just went into detail in case coop picked up the idea but basically step, hook ,hook in belt ,push off slightly and rep away its the same idea as rep has themselves for their belt squat but adjusted for Ares since it isn’t a plate loaded version witch means you can’t load plates at the top of the rep you have to preselect the weight from the bottom of the rep. it would however be light years easier to have a plate loaded version of Ares with its 6 termination points and just place a hook, load and rep away.maybe in the not so distant future.
would like to see you compare this to the fray fitness one
I was really debatig if I should get theses over traditional free weights. I'm glad I made the purchase. They are easy to use and hold on to. I like that you can do 1/2 lbs. It's quick to change the weight as well
What rack depth do you recommend for a basement home gym? I have a good amount of space but would you say 30 or 41? I want to do Incline bench with my squat rack and will be built with the ares. What do you recommend?! Thanks!
You can connect the carabiner directly to the other carabiner for the close grip btw
Is there a way to attach the jammer arms as well ?
How far away should the back post be away from a wall? Want it close as I can, but obviously won't be able to easily move it after it's installed
I am putting mine 12" from the wall, but it needs to be at least far enough for plates if you are going to use the back columns for weight plate storage.
You could technically butt it up against the wall. It’s in line with the back posts.
@@markhalstead2386 yeah, 12" seems enough to put plates on an off without wasting any space.
Great review, thank you sir. Do you think it's possible to attach the high/low fixed cables to jammer arms for resistance? Not sure if the angles would be too off for smooth movement. I'm also stuck with a rogue for the moment, but want to seat this up against its back where my rhino is sitting.
Need to play with this. Love the idea! - Coop
Thanks for the detailed review.
Did you happen to ask the Rep folks why the weight stack is transverse to the cross braces? Seems that it would be more space efficient if the weights were in line with the cross braces.
Looking to get one for Christmas…but still debating whether I want the athena…I’ll keep waiting for your review but this one is still my first pick
Can you attach the functional trainer cables to jammer arms?
I like the idea but the functional trainer trolleys are above the jammer arms.
Is that a Panatta prone leg curl machine at the rep facility at 15:35 in the video?
Would love to see rep bring out a Smith Machine Kit- That would truly make this the best All in one trainer for the home. Till then the Force USA range probaly have the most options. Minus the trainer either the Rep or the Prime HLP are probably the best
🤮🤮
Thanks for the review. I cannot wait for mine to arrive! What is the dumbbell rack you have featured in this video?
Now... can you add the iso arms to this beast and have everything in one rack?
Can this fit in a 4 post rack or only works with a 6 post rack?
It will fit in a 16" 4 post rack.
I have a Rogue RML-390F Monster Lite Rack. Will the ARES be compatible with it if I got the 4 post style? Great vid!
8:18 "it has a nice sound" doesn't play the sound :(
I'd love a comparison of the foot prints of these systems. i have a 9.25' x 11.25' shed with really tight tolerances on equipment and i want to upgrade from a rogue monster lite to something like this but can't get a good look at how it all fits in a small space.
If you are just looking at the footpring you can go on reps site and build out the ares rack you want and they have an augmented reality feature where it generates your rack in an exact 1:1 scale and you can see how it fits in your space
Looks awesome and very well integrated. I’m sure my small wingspan would work great for chest flys!
Coop could you review the Bells of Steel cable system that allows that works with their rack attachments? Seems like a cool budget option, kind of like a budget Prodigy rack from Prime.
Where is the comparable video? I’d love a breakdown of whether to purchase this or a prime single stack, for example
Maybe purchase some rep cross members so the width problem is resolved. But then you run into height issues
Awesome review video!👏
