You are a virtuoso bassoonist, my friend! Bravo! I truly enjoyed this arrangement and rendition. I do have a technical question. Although the bassoon has long been one of my favorite orchestral instruments, due to its unique timbre, my knowledge of how to play it is sketchy at best. I am a public school music teacher, though. So, I have a professional's knowledge of music. That being said, I am curious about the addition of a tube into the top of one of the bassoons. Since that lengthened the effective feet of the tubing, I have to assume that it lowered the range of that bassoon. Is this your unique adaption? Is it the way that a bassoon is muted? Does the addition of the extra tubing change the fingerings? I hope you get a lot more subscribers. This is a worthwhile channel. Thanks again.
Thank you! The tube extension is so that the low A can be played. It makes it so that when you finger a low Bb an A comes out, without considerable change to any other notes. You lose the ability to play Bb, but gain the A (and for a piece in D, that’s helpful). This solution is standard amongst bassoonists; everyone has their own home-made low A. Although there are versions you can buy, a paper towel roll with some tweaks does just fine.
@@dulzmusik I’m going to make a new low A extension so I can get at least some of the low A’s in Mahler 5. I’ve misplaced my old extension that I used for the Nielsen quintet. Playing Mahler in May 2023.
This is seriously the most amazing video I've seen on RUclips this year.
-former bassoonist
I also have one of those low A extensions :P
Just switched from Sax to bassoon. Only one lesson so far. You are an inspiration! Bravo times 4!
Bonjour.
C' est un impressionnante démonstration de ce qui peut être fait par un quatuor de bassons.
Bravo pour cette interprétation singulière !
I was looking forward to it at the end, those low Bs, then where was the trill on C#! 😆😆
Great job. Thanks for sharing 👍🏽🎶🎵
Amazing technique!!!
Really. Well done.
A pleasure to listen
A masterclass , thanks 🙏
This is amazing!
Bravo! Very enjoyable!
Super Dominik!! Liebe Grüße aus Italien :)
Great!👍🏻
When the opening theme is repeated about halfway through, this time with the low A extension, the intonation suffers.
Weiter so ! Wann kommen die nächsten Performances ? :-)
wow
It's as though Jacob Collier split himself into four bassoonists 😎
👏❤️👍Bravo!
Excellent job! Do you have an email I can contact regarding your bassoon work?
