I liked how General Ming stopped his attack on two foreigners who didn't speak his language, tried to understand, understood Zi Yuan, then continued his attack on the actual enemy.

Why are the dead peasants obeying Ming?! He was another cruel oppressor of theirs! He’s probably killed more peasants with his bare hands than the Emperor has ordered put to the sword! He is literally an enemy of the state only because the Emperor was worried about his waifu getting stolen! These peasants should be skewering Ming, then killing Rick and Evie after they find out about the Opium Wars and the Boxer Rebellion!

@@potatogamer3830 Obeying orders is no excuse. A general following the orders of a tyrant is just as bad as the tyrant himself. But yeah I imagine some of the dead actually knew him in life and perhaps knew really that he wasn't that bad of a person (as previously stated though if you're willingly following a tyrants orders you're as bad as he is) and perhaps yeah they could converse in whatever afterlife exists in that universe.
I don't know what's worse, the Chinese emperor transforming into a Western dragon or the sorceress using English to summon dead Chinese soldiers

I like how at 1:15 you can almost discern what might be joy or even pride, perhaps the only thing the Emperor in this case feels any emotion towards would be his army, who he fought and trained with, and were probably loyal to a fault in his lifetime
Imagine if Rick kept the Anubis army. The clay army wouldn't stand a chance because only decapitation would kill them. Even if they're defeated, another wave would come with EVEN MORE soldiers.

This film was a big deal back in 2008 in China. The hype in my country was high. The first two has quite a fan base in China even to this day, however now no one really remembers this one.

Honestly my favorite part of this scene is the fact that Rick is actually using mag pouches instead of materializing new magazines out of thin air.
We went from A mummy to being revived, and again, to a Chinese one, to a horrible Tom Cruise one.

People are surprised that army of undead pleasants were able to dead a army of undead soldiers. To be far the amount of people who died to make the wall is insanely high! Plus, the leader if the undead pleasants was the Emperor's head General if I remember right.

Also they mention in the movie that most of the slaves buried under the great wall were troops conquered during early campaigns, so they wouldn't be as well armed as the terracottas, but they would have the advantage of numbers.

Actually, Somnath, I enjoyed it very much. It would have been much better had the producers acquired the services of Rachel Weisz to reprise the character of Evie, but it was very fun to watch and has a great score by Randy Edelman. Not to mention three or four very pretty actresses (Yeoh, Leong, the one that played the Chinese officer, and even Maria Bello).

good scene, but why was Zi Yuan speaking english? I mean the book was written ins sanskrit and the dead people were mostly chinese.
Probably for the same reason why the Qin emperor from 200 BC was speaking Mandarin, which is a language that wasn't even developed until the middle ages around 14th century AD. Audience convenience.

Few things i've always wondered... How did the army get from the palace courtyard into these "tombs" that conviently had ramps? How did General Ming get 3 of 4 limbs back, when they were all ripped off? How come the Emperor (and even his horse) shed the clay, but the army did not?
the punishment that general ming was given if given in real lfe, often time not all limbs will come of, most of the time just 1 hand and 1 leg will be pull out and the the victim dies due to shock and blood loss.
The emperor is a powerful sorcerer so he can make ramps and he did say that if they *CROSSED* the walls they would become immortal like him I guess

It's different. The egypt has been an arabic country for more than a thousand years. So I would imagine egyptians didn't feel so much bonded with the ancient egypt
@@Charles-ql1il a lot of modern egyptians are christians of coptic church, which use coptic (basically old egyptian) as liturgy language even nowadays. So they should be able to understand sentences of egyptian characters.

So nameless Hero (2002) decided to spare emperor because he understood his vision for the world and "everything under sky", but eventually took his place after death and decided to conquer whole world with emperor name. Who saw that coming? Respect for movie creators. 😀

I absolutely adore this movie. The performances by the actors, especially Michelle Yeoh, were incredibly impressive. Although I have doubts about the accuracy of Mandarin being spoken during the warring states period. But then again, it really didn't matter. It was a still good.

This always bothered me as a kid: why didn't the mummy soldiers just book it past the wall? There are scenes where the mummies are literally a few feet away from crossing and they still go for O'Connell.
How does the emperor plan to conquer the entire world when they have nuclear weapons, bombs, guns and other advanced weapons at the time while his army is made of terracotta and are armed with spears!? 😂

Lmao maybe you didn't watched the whole movie or didn't pay attention on it. As you see can see in this clip, the Emperor said that once he and his army of undead crossed the Great Wall, they will be fully resurrected then they will also gain immortality and invincibility. It means that they will literally become unkillable no matter what you do to them, it doesn't matter. Even if you bomb them, shot them, slash/stab them, blast them or even poison them they will still not die, so because of that they will be the most unstoppable force and will conquer everything that they see.
I don't know about any revenge but that general Ming deserved that punishment for breaking the bro code. Jet Li already called dibs on her.

I remember when this film was released right before the Beijing Olympics in 2008 and how trailers put them both together. What better way to celebrate Chinese pride than with a marching terracotta army led by Jet Li himself? Speaking of Jet Li, besides wishing him well after his recovery from illness, I also wish that he'd sport the Emperor's armor again. That armor would be on my wish list if I ever decide to cosplay, by the way.
Really wish they did at least one last movie with Brendan...
This movie had so much potential. I think the recasting of Evie was the worst mistake that they made. Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz had such great on-screen chemistry. This movie is however a lot better than the 2017 version of The Mummy.
