This movie has aged very well I was soooooo sad Rachel didn’t reprise her role it really affected the film but if u watch the film without that in mind it’s actually amazing

3:30 the part where they lowered their Ji and charged rank by rank was an amazing recreation of the incredibly disciplined army of ancient Qin and was given its due credit by people who respected history!

This movie may not have been great, but at least we got Michelle Yeoh, Jet Li and Anthony Wong out of it.
The 2017 Mummy remake makes this movie look like a masterpiece.
I love how the villain army is more organized and the hero army is so chaotic.
The 3rd was ruined to me only cause rachel weisz didn't come back to play her character, otherwise i would have liked the movie, i hate movies/tv shows that change the actor but say its the same person

I find it funny how they had there be a second plane just so the Emperor could have a cool take-down moment without actually killing any main characters, i.e. Jonathan and Mad Dog.
Saw it when it first came out.
Loved it then, and with these snippets? Love it today.

If Rachel had reprised her role one last time, this movie would've been awesome. It had everything except the magic between Evelyn and Rick.

to me that scene with Jet li coming off from his horse to fight Michelle Yeoh looked totally badass. I could watch this scene on a loop.

This battle scene seems to reflect how it will look like if General Ming is still alive back then. Remember, he has been following the emperor for so long prior to the establishment of the empire and has seen as much as the Emperor does. Having been in the office for quite some time means that he does has his own followers and supporters. Additionally, he has also witness many unjustice death and cruelty back then (possibly the most reasoning reasons and foundations of a conspiration and/or military coup against the Emperor).So it's a no surprise if the Emperor wants him dead in the very beginning (remember the communication tactic of "No one should ever touch my woman (Zi Yuan)"? The Emperor knew what is going to happen afterwards. However, in a case where the General didnt do anything, the execution will still happen as the Emperor is scared of a tilt in balance of power)
To say, the Emperor will view his trustee as a potential threat to his throne.
In addition, General Ming is like a similar character to Meng Yi (蒙义) or is it Meng Tian Fang (蒙天放). Those who have watch Jackie Chan and Zhang Yi Mou movie will know the character.
You are as confused as the film. Huang Di is credited for being the first leader to rule over a Unified China.
@@harvestcanadaI’m just giving an opinion based on the film itself. What I’m trying to say is, often, people who had been following others of high status and power are usually the ones getting suspicious of because they are the closest to them, even if they shown the utmost loyalty.
Secondly, my second last paragraph was trying to mean that General Ming kinda reminds me of General Meng Yi from “The Myth”in one of Jackie Chan movies as well as General Meng Tian Fang from one of Director Zhang Yi Mou movie. (General Meng Yi and Meng Tian Fang may be the same person)
They are similar in terms of, both these 3 generals are the most loyal trustee to the Emperor, but end up dead due to some reason

That’s what I thought to like what’s a bunch of clay soldiers going to do against the modern world? Even if they went across the wall and where invincible I still don’t imagine they would do allot of damage. The only one that’s of any threat is the emperor himself.

@@ted321o The moment they became invincible a missile would do nothing to them, they were vulnerable for not having completed the curse, they needed to go through the wall to be unstoppable.
Every time I rewatch this scene, I never understand why would they casted one of the best asian action stars to have slo-mo multiple cut fight scene.

I just love this movie. I don't remember anymore how many times i had watched it.
Imagine if the Egyptian Mummies joined the fight but which side would the choose the Emperor or General Ming’s either way it be more of an interesting fight.
Zi Yun made the ultimate sacrifice in the end just as she was willing to help bring down the wicked emperor once and for all.

This is 100% the ending of the forbidden kingdom when the guy kills the witch's boyfriend by tearing off his limbs with two horses and then Jet li brings an army from the dead including the witch's boyfriend and then they have a mummy battle doing all animal styles of kung fu.
Two Asian Stars. This was the best sequel of THE MUMMY ever! Gotta love this!
I love this era of the movie, story telling on the ancient history mummies and trilogy. It brings chills and I love it.
My first Mummy movie, my personal favorite, all actors were amazing. Very underrated, just like Spider Man 3 imo because I saw that one first before all others growing up.
Seeing this first then you will never know how much this movie missed Rachel Weisz.

To this day..i have no idea why this movie even exists.
The fight wouldve been so much better without all of the slow-mo effects. Jet li does martial arts and michelle yaoh pressumely does too (not sure), so the fight wouldve been so much better with the martial arts.
She does to a extent. You can't have not done that much without learning some.

This movie is a prime example of why Asian movie makers can create better martial arts fights than Hollywood. In the former they understand the skill and complexity of the fight and show it at full speed, to emphasise the skill of the opponents and what's at stake. In the latter they assume their audience is too stupid to keep up with what's happening and use a ridiculous amount of slo-mo, thinking that it creates more gravitas. But it just slows the fight down, making it look boring and it looks like they're padding out the scene. This should have been a real battle of titans. Instead it was underwhelming and disappointing.

I really don't understand how ancient Chinese corpses all can understand English calling and rise up..., and they are basically farmers at the bottom, any background history?
Funny your army is made of breakable clay statues that died like they're wearing stormtrooper armor and your enemy is basically a army of unstoppable immortal skeletons which even 10,000 arrows didn't slow them down.
The emperor had the power to make his army in a unstoppable immortal non clay statues force of destruction but nope he was a selfish dick to care for the well being of his army to their full potential.

I probably would have liked this movie a bit more if not for a few things. We missed Rachel so much. The actress replacing her is wonderful and did a great job, but she just didn’t have that same kind of chemistry with Brendan that Rachel had. Their banter turned out to be way more campy and I just wasn’t a big fan of it (though I’m sure at least some of that was due to writing).
And THEN… I remember seeing interviews from the directors and writers of this movie talking up how big of a deal it was to have Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh not only in the same movie together but fighting against each other. I literally remember them bragging about how “people are calling it the fight all of China has been waiting for” and the fight SUCKED. It was badly choreographed and the camera angles during it were too wonky. And then it was literally over in 30 seconds. You’re telling me you’ve got a fight between two of these total badasses and THAT fight is the best you could come up with? I will literally die mad about this. I could have forgiven all the rest of it if they’d just handled that fight better. I am still salty about it.
