The real Qin Shi Huang was actually more brutal than in this movie, especially in his later years after surviving 3 very close assassination attempts. Any old writings would be burnt, if you’re sent to labour work on the emperor’s tomb or Great Wall, high chances you won’t return home, captured enemies would often be executed immediately, very strict laws were implemented, he can just execute you and your entire family if he suspects you’re betraying or stalking him, and even just disagreeing with him can lead you to be buried alive. His oldest son was even banished and executed after disagreeing with his father, Still, he laid the foundation of a Unified China, though violently, and when he died, the Han Dynasty quickly took over and ruled an empire of peace for over 200 years before war broke out again
@Marco Ng He didn’t kill his own son. His elder son was his favourite, and he was supposed to be the rightful heir. But after he died, his second son plotted with a powerful subject to change the inheritance then sending his brother to death. It is understandable of why Qin Shi Huang was cruel and heartless. He had lived through a hard life for decades. His mother and him were hostages of a foreign state. And his mother was possibly a courtesan, and later committed adultery with the chancellor and a scoundrel and as you said, everyone tried to kill him from time to time. Thankfully, people were so done with his tyranny that they overthrew the Qin Empire after it reigned independently for mere 15 years.
perhaps his cruelty wasn't just entirely shown in this movie. we can even see an assassination attempt in the movie where he show kung fu styled moves to his aggressors, but i doubt the real life huangdi would be like that, we just know he was a capable swordman
we have to bear in mind that most of the records describing Qin Shi Huang's acts of cruelty were written by Han historians and scholars who didnt mind besmirching his name to explain why the Qin dynasty lost the mandate of heaven and now they were the rightious rulers of the land.(i dont know how to fix this run on sentence).
Some historians are now trying to rehabilitate Qin Shihuang, claiming that the books he burned books, and the scholars he buried, were actually killing charlatans. And he offended the nobles of the countries he defeated, and was slandered. But he did unified the currency, the words, weights and measures of ancient China.

I kind of feel bad for his army, many of them were probably just doing their job and got turned into stone for a crime their emperor did. Some probably never did anything wrong either.
Well in battles when the enemy surrenders, sometimes they still get executed even tho they might have never even killed anyone and just got conscripted. Thats just how war and humans work, she had to curse them because they were potential problem.
I'll admit, I loved this villain for a decent few reasons, his skill in combat is very good and actually surprised me how well he held his own against Rick and the others, his powers are very unique, fun to watch and visually intriguing especially when regarding his transformation into the 3 headed dragon which I thought was very unexpected but also pleasantly surprising, however, if I had to pick the better villain out of this one or Imhotep, I would easily have to say Imhotep is the much better villain coz the humanity in him was displayed perfectly especially when he was fully regenerated, his intimidation was far greater even in his fully human form which makes the stakes for the main protagonists that much greater and his powers, while some were more subtle than the dragon emperor like the part where he literally came through the keyhole whilst transformed into sand,he also displayed power far beyond the dragon emperor like showing his aptitude for sand manipulation in a very grand scale, commanding possibly millions of locusts to convert many of the townspeople into his minions and his greatest feat of power IMO,causing an eclipse even whilst his powers were STILL growing
@Michael G Be it 秦始皇(Qin Shi Huang) or 秦始皇帝(Qin Shi Huang Di), I think both can be correct. 始皇帝(lit. Initial Emperor, or Starting Emperor) is how the Emperor proclaimed himself, and 秦始皇(lit. Initial Emperor of Qin) is what we commonly call him nowadays.
You know when the emperor stabbed Sey-Uin in the side he missed the stomach. In hind sight if you stab someone who know the dark arts you better choose where to stab wisely. Quân Nguyễn Lê that doesn’t even impress a kid ! Tell that guy to fight a SWAT team with only 10 men and see what happen , if a guy can’t even fought 10 SWAT soldier at the same time but able to defeat an immortal chinese emperor then this movie logic is busted as fuck
Guess he punished them severly you say chap

@@liv4love-22d8 then he would be a young boy by then if he was reincarnated not the same age as rick or evelyn.
Jet Li could play Fire Lord Ozai with this look in Live Action. In this movie he is a great martial artist, emperor(Fire Lord), threatening and a sort of a firebender(with other elements also), for me perfect choice.
Omg that would be awesome
but shyamaladingdong had to cast an indian-looking maori actor
Jet li was the only best thing about Mummy 3, everything else was garbage.
He’s too short IMO. Need someone who’s taller and buff af
@@Who-Uhm-Cares although kinda true, most main characters in Atla were not super physically imposing. If the bending looks nice, Jet Li can pass with some CGI buffness...or steroid and high heels, like all other leading stars lol
This is great..instead of giving immortal life to the emperor..she give him a curse..general ming knows that if the emperor got to be curse this is the end of the emperor's power to rage..general ming also know that the emperor dont keep his words..
0:35 listen closely and you can hear the famous Spongebob 'my leg' joke

the Mummy is still a GREAT FRANCHISE!!!
😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
So far mummy series has two movies about ancient egypt and one in chinese. How about another movie for aztec in mexico and south america.
Edit : THANKS FOR LIKES
That was the plan, antonio banderas was supposed to play the mummy
Damn it I still wanted it.
Its been cancelled,,,, instead they made a movie out of Tom Cruise,,,, Idk so overrated actor....
Supposedly the next movie would take place in Peru where mummies were found as well. But it was cancelled.
@Muqadas A It was its own movie, not part of this franchise.

People hated this movie but not for me
I also enjoyed the soundtrack
YUCK FASUO I think that even when this is the worst movie from the original Mummy trilogy, this is still so much better than the new Mummy movie. I like Tom Cruz, but that movie was garbage.
Yes I agree because I could use some Chinese history in my memory
I HATED that they replaced the actress that played Evie
@@naminerain18 yes, that spoiled this movie, the replacement of evelyn actress. The replacement for the wife looked much older than his husband.
I and it appears quite a few others have actually warming up to this movie since the release of the new one. Lol
I kind of feel bad for his army, many of them were probably just doing their job and got turned into stone for a crime their emperor did. Some probably never did anything wrong either.
Apenas seguir ordens... A história mostra aonde isso leva.

Omg...you made my day
The emperor was based on Qin Shi Huang Di... the first emperor
Died of poisoning
But in the movie cursing
Don Deblois l I love Mercury lol
What was know for?
@Michael G Be it 秦始皇(Qin Shi Huang) or 秦始皇帝(Qin Shi Huang Di), I think both can be correct. 始皇帝(lit. Initial Emperor, or Starting Emperor) is how the Emperor proclaimed himself, and 秦始皇(lit. Initial Emperor of Qin) is what we commonly call him nowadays.
Chinese call him qin shi huang or shi huang di, never qin shi huang di.

Army be like: This is fine, everything's fine.
You know when the emperor stabbed Sey-Uin in the side he missed the stomach. In hind sight if you stab someone who know the dark arts you better choose where to stab wisely. I mean she is a witch who studied the dark arts for years and when the stabbed her hid didn’t predict he or his army be tuned into status
I like that the soldiers were so disciplined that they did not break ranks even as they turned into clay. Also, those poor soldiers
Some did, but as soon as they start crying clay, their feet has already been turned to clay without them realizing.
Yeah, while it explained the terracotta warriors well, that was still cruel and unfair of the witch to curse the whole army, when they were just underlings obeying their orders to survive.
“They’re just following orders.”

such a pivotal scene . and its ancient China . whats amazing is that the spell is in Sanskrit. from India . Two great historic nations and cultures
I wondered how to speak Sanskrit. Isn't Sanskrit the writing system? They'd speak Hindi, I guess. Any linguists to save the day?
All language or most language on earth is derived from sanskrit.
I've heard that. I've also heard (and not believed) that Latin is the mother of all languages, that Arabic is the mother of all languages, and the same of several of the languages of northern Africa and even Hebrew and Aramaic. But I thought Sanskrit was the writing system, not the spoken language. I'm probably just too lazy to go and look it up.
@N n explain with facts and logic.
@@ColonelMarcellus Sanskrit also had speech. Few words of present India had ancient Sanskrit words.

well, if he just let her marry to that General, all that shit will not happen. SOME MAN just can't keep a promise and too pride to understand, that they just can't have EVERY-WOMEN!
*too proud*
right? especially when he was just willing to kill her for not having consent--
Why are we arguing on a 1000% fictional backstory to the terracotta warriors?
She read the spell in a dialect unknown to the emperor. She would have cursed him regardless. Truth is. The emperor believed there wouldnt be resistance for the millions he enslaved and butchered. He became too complacent with his belief he couldnt ever be harmed.... and he placed his entire future, even access to his soul and placed it in the hands of a witch stranger... lol he should have known he wasnt going to be given the gift of immortality just like that.
@@MattCollectorControl She probably added the curse in as a fail-safe: you know, just in case he pulled the crap he did. I mean, she did say that she knew that he would never keep his word.
Didn't she put the curse on him before he executed general ming? she deserved to die, she betrayed him and planned his murder even tho he agreed to her request.
Both Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh were incredible stars and their performances are top notch. Although Jet Li retired from his acting, he still helping other people while Yeoh would go on to have long decent career including her Oscar worthy performance in her new movie about her character time travel to multiverse and fight some random but strong adversaries(I forgot what the name of the title but it was awesome).

2:02 -- Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
In the emperors defense, he did unify China and was the first 9ne who did so. Yes, he may be ruthless and cruel, but that's how all conquerors were back then.
Even Cao Cao from the three kingdom was despicable and manipulative.
They may be cruel rulers who ruled with an iron fist, but they at least brought order to the country
Bryan Wong "back then " lol we still have cruel leaders now.
Bryan Wong So being independent separately is a disorder? I mean China don't have to be a United State to be able to thrive, yet they keep insist on untiting everything in Asia under their rules.
Alex Shuysky there were plenty of independent provinces , and each of them were governed by separate rulers.
And it was more chaotic back then. In other words, uniting all under one ruler only makes it less chaotic.
he still fail when trying to keep his dynasty last.
I think Liu Bang and his fellow men is the really guys who united China.
Alex Shuysky its hard to say civilization by civilization. Without order , with only independent tribes and kingdoms there is chaos and widespread raiding and warfare. That was Europe for thousands of years
7:11 I love This stab!
Funny fact: Mandarin, that language they speak in the movie didn't even exist back then. They spoke a totally different language back then, old Chinese.

actually what the emperor is saying is ancient Chinese, even more difficult than Mandarin
I wonder how they translated all that. 🧐🧐🧐🧐🧐
Not really, he's still speaking Mandarin to some extent. The closest alternative to Chinese, Middle Chinese, sounds more similar to cantonese.
You will find that " ancient " chinese is still widely taught at schools in places like China
Iconic to The Mummy franchise, the prologue in every movies are the best.
This is much better than Mulan 2020 🧐🧐🧐🧐
If you two smart enough, run away from the emperor and use immortal life together.
Zi Yuan and Ming should have known a zillion times better than to return to the Emperor with the Oracle Bones, and harbouring that hope that the Emperor would allow them to be together after granting him his heart’s desire. I mean, Ming was the Emperor’s oldest friend, and so should know him extremely well, and as a powerful and extremely knowledgeable witch, Zi Yuan should also have known better. They had actually signed their own death warrants the instant they returned with the Oracle Bones. 😥
7:05 You got to hand it to those soldiers. Even being cremated in burning magical clay they still stood in disciplined formations.
Why do all of these ancient curses involve the cursed getting insane power and immortality, seems a bit counterproductive.
because plot.
Because power corrupts and it has a heavy price.
Xi Yuan never gave the Emperor the powers he already had over the elements and shapeshifting, she only sealed him and his army in clay.
She only make him immortal so he could suffer, the other power is the thing he learned while he was alive.
