Mt Cheam Hiking Guide: riseandalpine.com/2022/09/14/...
When most of us think of the Fraser Valley, we think of farmland. But think again! Next time you’re in Chilliwack look up and you’ll see a host of gnarly peaks hiding in the horizon. The Cheam Range is an alpine paradise just 45 minutes away from the Chilliwack town centre. Cheam Peak is the most easily accessed peak of the ‘4 sisters’ in the Cheam the range and provides spectacular views of the of the Fraser Valley, lakes, the Cheam Range, North Cascades & more. The range is super popular for hiking in the summer but is lesser travelled by ski adventurer's.

The shots out of the mini-truck are awesome. I appreciate that stuff.
The mini truck was the highlight of my day for sure 😂
I noticed the Canadian accent gets stronger the more you guys are together :)
I guess that's what happens when you put two pure bred's together 😂
What a rip!!
Want to give lady a whirl? The peak you see while we were skiing down
Even though the snow is wacky, you still have a fun time. Bet you can ski year round.
I'm gonna try my best to find snow in every month this year!
These edits are 🔥
Those views going down, WOW! Seriously amazing....
That 360 footage is sweet....
I know eh. Some of the most incredible views I've had all season. Unbelievably unique with the farmland in the valley and the alpine on the other-side.
my new favourite word - textbook !!
😂
Yeeew! Nice one boys.
Thanks Brother!
Such an amazing day dude! That creamed corn was scrumptious. 🌽 I hope you and Brock end up sending Lady this weekend!!
We always pronounced it Mt. "Shem" in the Wack... now I'm no longer sure the correct pronunciation.
LOL. I hate when that happens.
@@flapjackson6077 IKR... but I'm almost positive it's not CHEEM... maybe CHEE-AM, or CHEM, perhaps SHE-AM and probably SHEM but not CHEEEEEM.

😂 Thanks. I’m that much closer to the truth! 🤙
That was fun. Let’s do it again
I'm ready to go back!
One my favourite videos this year! The views are spectacular!
Thanks Gavin. Some of the coolest ski views I've ever soon.
An other super great adventure. I'm out of breath watching you guys. It's amazing.
Thanks for coming along :). Such a beautiful day.
Wow those are some freaking awesome views of the valley holy cow. That's way better than my view of a bunch of condos across the canal lol. I can't wait until I'm able to move back to the mountains and skiing/hiking/camping again. I can't believe how much excellent spring corn is still out there. Tree master Sid Le side of the road flower watering mountain master ski guide maple syrup hot sauce taxi service, welcome aboard buddy!! Ohhh, maple flavored hot sauce (homer simpson voice) MMmmmmmmmmmm.....syrup Thanks for the adventure boys I'm gonna have to watch this a few more times it's just so damn beautiful. Mucho appreciado!
Mountains, Maple Syrup and a Corn Harvest... One of the best days ever!
Love this comment, thrilled to be here buddy!
Man that seems amazing!
Such a blast!
Spent the whole 30 minutes smiling. Also the plug for Fortune Farms worked, didnt even realize I am less then a 15 minute drive.
That's hilarious you are so close to the Syrup Mecca!
No way dude, that's awesome! I grew up just outside Almonte
Living the dream man! looks insane!
Will be dreaming of this day for a while!
😢 JELLY!!!
An absolute phenomenal vid!!!
Thanks Nate. One of my favourite days this season.
Wow! What a day!
Can;t beat that!
That view on top is awesome!!
The green valley and the alpine contrast still has my mind blown
Just 2 of the biggest RUclips millionaires going skiing!
Two of BC's richest men 😂😂😂
Nice plug for Fortune Farms!! 🍁 I live down the road, maple capital of ON!
Glad Sid snuck in a plug for a local sugar shack!
@@riseandalpine small world
Sick dude, I grew up in Almonte! They have the goods for sure
Used to mind ride this peak while staring at it out my school window in Agassiz. We called it She-am.
Love the term 'mind-ride'... I do the same thing when I'm stuck doing something else but can see the mountains
HELL YEAH BROTHER 🤙🏼 no air bag gang, always could be the “last trip” 🤣🤣
What an epic trip my guy! Thanks for sharing!!!
If you thought avalanches were risky.... Ride highway 1 in a mini truck 😂😂😂
@@riseandalpine LOLLL
Sick to see Baker from the North side! Adding this to my list of objectives for next year
It's such a worthy objective!
Those are incredible views... I've never seen it that clear before. In summer, the valley often gets the Vancouver smog and Wildfires. I had no idea a Kei truck could get up that road... now I wanna know if they've improved the road enough to take a regular SUV up it in the summer. Curious what kind of vehicles you've seen at the parking lot base. It's been a few years since I've been up Cheam.
I was up there last summer and a stock 4runner was getting stuck on one of the trickier sections. I'd still say a high clearance 4x4 or a 4x4 with a pretty small wheel base is required. In summer when it dries out people without AT tires spin out when it gets steeper as well.
I saw you at whistler a couple of days ago, were you recording on that day or no
Possibly ya!
The truck is like the smart cars of trucks🤣
(Also, its pronounced Ch-ee-m, like cheese but with an m instead of se.)
I'm sold on a mini.. being able to 3 point turn a tight logging road is absolutely insane
No bushwhacking? No punch crust? No boilerplate? You're getting spoiled.
Like I said... "World's best corn snow"! Feels damn good to have a tour line up so nicely hahaha
Tight trees at 24:11
And the easterners say our glades aren't tight enough 😂
What kind of bindings and boots did you guys use?
I run Nordica unleashed 108's with Duke Pt 16 bindings. My boots are Nordica Striders. I believe Sid rides ATK bindings and Technica Cochise boots.
@@riseandalpine Technica Zero G Tour Pro - love em.
love the part when you reach the summit and go:
EH
It was pretty beauty eh!
Loved the trip but you’ve sold me the mini truck. By the way it is pronounced “ CHEEM “
Cheeeem! I thought so :). Everyone needs a minitruck!
whats the weight of your skies
?
I'm not sure... I run a pretty darn heavy setup though
James' skis are about 7 metric tons
Is it "Plan A" or "Plan Eh" regardless better than the F150 in the woods / Plan B.
Glad we stuck to plan eh
Motion sickness is the worst.
I know eh... I suffer at amusement parks 😂
😂. My God, man! You’re an unusual fucker, James!
Three questions.
Is Sid a tree climber? Arborist work is a cool profession! It’s an obvious link to skiing in my mind. It’s adventure living requiring technical skills.
Dude, how did you get back to the cart? I was expecting a long, arduous trek up a mountain side.
Finally, did you ever ask your folks about the feeling switching to parabolics? Lol
A silly question considering your insane pace. 😂
You crack me up, bro. You’re grabbing life by the balls. 🤙
Sid is an arborist, his company is called Sid's Tree Service, if anyone needs help with trees in the lower mainland!
The cart?
Yup - mother alpine said it didn't stop her from keeping her legs close and hot dogging but it made life on skis a hell of a lot easier and made her a way better skier 'in a modern view' nearly instantly
@@riseandalpine
I think I mighta lost the orientation of the terrain you skied. It looked like you all schlepped up from the side by side vehicle then skied down into a valley. I was thinking you’d have a tough walk back up the sided by side. Lol.
I got a couple cousins who are arborists. I’ve even done a bit climbing with equipment to take down a some big trees in my yard. Seems like a unique and exciting career, but I’m to old for that shit anymore.
Sounds like parabolics are a dream!
Maybe next year! 🤙
Sorry but it is "...Sid and me" not "...Sid and I"
😂
nice one. Arborists are good people😉 That truck is awesome🤌
Never met an Arborist I didn't like!
