My new favourite mountain in Whistler - Fissile Peak

- Today we embarked on an adventure into the Whistler backcountry to conquer the Banana Chute. Fissile is the gorgeous, pointy, Matterhorn-looking mountain visible from many vantage points throughout Whistler Blackcomb. The Kees and Claire hut and Russet lake rest just below its summit. Banana chute is the classic ski touring target off Fissile with a beautiful wide open slope the whole way down. Fissile is also loaded with more line options including the Summit Chute, Wrap Around Chute, Saddle Chute, Psycho Chute, and many more. It's funny how quick the Whistler Backcountry goes from zero-100 once you leave the musical bumps and climb Fissile. Believe it or not, the spiciest part of the day (other than the sunshine) was the ski out, or lack thereof down singing pass. Make sure to watch until the end because the ski out is absolutely hilarious.

Ha ha, here in Australia back in the late 70s early 80s we had a sun smart add campaign called, "Slip Slop Slap" it was an animation with a portly O,zy guy called "Norm", with a catchy tune saying. " Slip on a shirt, Slop on sunscreen and Slap on a hat". Ahh reminiscing 😅.

I mean who can argue with some hiking boot packing and ski touring with views and spring pow like that? Whoever they are their nuts!! haha Love it buddy! Oh you boys worked up a good sweat on this one so this def calls for a big Triple as a reward. Hard to call it actual food in the US but it sure does taste good especially after a really good day it the mountains. Crap! Now I want a big mac and large fries haha

I like mixing in some Backcountry days, but I'll always prefer the resort. Two complete different sports and skiing is my favourite.

A few racing stripes but honestly not bad. Ski bases are way more robust than people think. I sometimes ski directly on dirt without any damage hahahha. Core shots usually come from those big nasty alpine sharks!

How many km did you have to hike out that little bit of Singing Pass? I was at K&C last weekend and we went back via Musical Bumps/Oboe/Flute since I heard it was like 8km of hiking haha. We left Saturday but I think it snowed Saturday night.
I think it took us about an hour and a half total (skiing and walking time)... Usually it's under 20 minutes LOL. Hiking out was a good call

It's a reasonable first ever big target. My first backcountry day minus Seymour tours was Mt Pattison hahaha absolutely killed me at the time

That is a LOT of heinous bashing to get out of Singing Pass...why not ascend oboe creek and go back into the ski resort and exit from the bottom of Symphony or Burnt Stew?
We didn't think it was going to be that bad. Someone on "south coast touring' said it was skiable all the way down two days before we went. Mountaineers have a weird definition of skiable all the way down hahahha

I'm used to being the one dude who insists on standing on the summit before I ski down 😅. Skied Tszil on Monday, the duffey still has good snow on northern aspects, 10/10 would recommend before they get too baked.
I guess I'm a skier first, climber second hahaha. Thanks for the intel. Maybe I'll check out the Duffey this week
