- This season, some people felt like things never got started, but I'm going to make sure it never ends. Here's to the start of a summer long corn harvest. This week the boys took advantage of a smoking hot week and mobbed some slushy turns down what's left of the North Shore's snowpack.

Good morning skiers it's Time to Rise & Alpine! Temperatures are cool and mild with lots of fresh natural terrain to suit your fancy and a touring guide so spicy even his hair is trying to escape from his head . Today's skiing conditions are variable to slightly rocky with blue skies and views that make super models jealous. Brought to you by Rise & Alpine's Whistler Ski Touring Adventures. The little dog is a shredder!! That's awesome. I love how many people have doggos out here, and they're always included in the activities.

PUPPPAAAAYYYYY!!!
We used to take our pup on stable low angle spring tours.
He's a 120# Husky x Shepherd; he LOVES the snow.
We also took him mountain biking and hiking and backpacking, and on our high altitude lake and river swims in the summer. He LOVES the super cold water.
He's getting older now, 13.5 years old, so he's slowed down a bit,...but you can still see the glimmer of excitement in his eye every time we take him on (much shorter) outings these days.
But He's also pretty happy to chill at the hotel these days with a nice frosty carrot.
Frosty carrots, ftw. Cucumbers are pretty cool, too...

Very Wise to keep off a cornice this time of year. Seriously
I stay away from cornices at all times of the year in the backcountry unless someone is roped off or we have to ski off it. Kiko wasn't so wise though.. I guess his 4lb body can stand on any cornice hahaha
No doubt, you're a true diehard. At first I was worried about the dog, (leaving him in the dust), but apparently he's a marathoner. Good for him, awesome as per usual, thanks for sharing.

not be rude. but i absolutely loved how , getting to the top and encountering those gentlemen camped , your group just did your thing without any shyness. i do feel that they felt left out when you guys did the liquid courage shots.. lol.. and. and. the Dogs along put it over the top. awesome stuff.
Don't worry, I offered them a shot of sauce. They both declined :(... They said Europeans don't like hot things. Not sure if that checks out hahaha. We got lots of Euro's sipping sauce on the regular

Oh man, you live in the ski paradise. Here in the local mountains in Central Europe the season started in the mid December and ended at the beginning of April.

Skiing this particular gully has been one of my dreams since the start of the pandemic -- it is supposedly epic when it's filled with powder -- but I've either lacked a backcountry-ready partner, or my knees have been f*cked (ACL last year). (Note to those who want to try this: it's a classic avalanche terrain trap, so if you want to ski it during the regular season you'd better have your AST etc.)
It looks like you guys had some awesome corn snow, so a total win there! I wonder if you still end up with black gunk on the bottom of your skis (tree pollen?), which happens with post-season skiing on the resort runs...
Good shout! This is absolutely serious avalanche terrain and slides quite often in the winter months. It stays so full in the spring because of all the loading from winter avalanches through the gully.
Funny you say that because I ended up with more gunk than I've ever experienced in my life. I think it's tree sap and I had to use lots of base cleaner to get it off.
@@riseandalpine I think someone on the South Coast Touring Facebook group said this year has been unusually bad for the mystery gunk. One fellow recommended Kud Krutter for cleaning it off! I haven't tried it myself.

I don't want to make you jealous, but I was skiing on the Hintertux Glacier last Friday. Half a meter of fresh powder. Open 365 days a year.

In the summer we usually spend a week in New Brunswick at my buddies house, and lots of hikes in Beach days in Ontario. I've already hit up Canada's Wonderland eight times. I've got about five hiking videos to edit and upload whenever I get the time.

@@connorwhite2745 mind you, there was a week or so in Jan or Feb 1991 when Whistler and Blackcomb were open and parts looked like that, and the high point on the lower parts had a mud coloured slush. Came good after that but…

About 2 weeks ago. I reckon there is still some snow in there, but be prepared for a hike out at the bottom. Maybe worth taking a peak at the cypress cameras or just looking up at the north shore :)
