I was just about too say everything that Aronofsky's wanted for his Batman I 100% see in The Batman. Heck maybe year one of that Batman was Aronofsky's vision
@@Vendaxel No it was a good film, but it's far from being the masterpiece they announced. It's just a classic Batman story, an excellent story, but it's déjà vu. Arronosky's Batman on the other hand is something completely new, a total reinvention of the character, he twisted the Dark Knight mythology to offer something unique.
@@JoeMama1001. That’s a fair assessment. That’s kinda cool that you didn’t just hate on The Batman, but instead made a valid point. I respect that. I also would have loved to see Batman: Year One! Oh my god, what a great concept! The Batman’s cool and all, but like you said, it isn’t nearly as unique as this take would have been. Which, if you think about it, that means this movie may eventually get made. If the director pitches it again in maybe a decade or so, after The Batman movies have run their course, the studio execs may be ready for this new take. Who knows.
Realistic doesn't equal engaging Bruce learning all his combat training from a book reeks of the same misguided approach as Splinter in the Bay TMNT movie basically doing the same when he trains the turtles. There's a reason the story was written the way it was, it gave the idea Bruce truly was dedicating the rest of his life to this cause and was the only man capable of doing it. If anyone could pick up a book to learn how to fight and become a superhero it makes us question why it's Bruce and not someone else.
its so weird that Spider-Man has had so many directors and potential directors that made their names with horror. Hooper, Raimi, Watts, its kinda strange.
Sometimes the adaptation does better than the original. The movie adaptation of the Watchman made Rorschach more violent and the Boys show was better than the comic. The Boys comic was just about edge lords in leather jackets killing superheroes for shits and giggles and apparently every superhero was evil no matter what. The show makes the Boys human and gave superheroes a spectrum.
I personally really enjoyed the Year One script and wished it was made. It basically was like if you put together Joker's gritty realism tone, inspired by gritty 70s movies, would've been R rated, and Joaquin Phoenix was the director's casting choice. And The Batman's homemade suit, a muscle car, a Batcave that was an abandoned subway station, a ring from his father and and a Bruce Wayne who grows to become a traditional Bruce Wayne at the end. (I don't even think Reeves's Bruce didn't even travel around the world to become Batman.) And those two movies changed a lot from the comics and were very good, and the script has gained more respect by new people discovering probably because of those two movies. But WB tried to interfere like making the Batmobile look more toy like wanting Freddie Prince Jr. as Batman. While I am proud we have the Nolan trilogy, I am very heartbroken this didn't get made.
I actually really would have wanted Aronofsky’s Batman. Wouldve been so cool. Ironic how this hyper realistic r-rated gritty comic book movie that strays away from the source material and stands on its own two feet with the apparent Taxi Driver overtones basically became the Joker movie😂
I've been fascinated with Aronofsky's pitch ever since i read about it, and it's pretty funny how it more or less got separated into both Joker and The Batman as the years went by
And how do they know he’s real name but not knowing he’s a comic book superhero? Did they did any research before they start Even at concept stage? I mean besides he’s real name but they probably figured out much later on.
I think a monstrous Spider-Man could be very interesting, IF it were an alternate universe, like what if on Earth 69420 or whatever, when he was bitten, he became far more spider than man? What if he couldn't have any semblance of a normal life? (Have him keep his mind/humanity) and have him still never kill anyone, so he refuses to become a true monster, have him use fear tactics on criminals kinda like Batman. I just think there is a lot of angst potential. But I do think he would absolutely need a friend to keep him from going insane.
ngl the batman story would work a lot as a alternative universe's Batman, a multiverse where Bruce lost his fortune and becomes a street level vigilante? Sign me up! But not as a main movie, this should be first a comic for this different universe lol
Ok then maybe a video on cancelled X-Men movie scripts like Andrew Kevin Walker's X-Men script I think there concept arts of the characters as well thank you for making this video
I think the hyper realistic batman idea would work really well for a watchmen universe movie like a rorschach or a nite owl movie, I really like the idea though
I feel like Aronofsky’s would have been a cool idea. While it might feel like too much for some I think it would be a good interpretation for film or tv. I could see it as Bruce Wayne being “reduced” to a local celebrity, he lives in a impoverished area of Gotham but everyone knows of the former Wayne enterprises. I could see the bat-cave being an abandoned property or something(someone mentioned an abandoned subway station, TMNT vibes) but I was thinking almost like an abandoned basement to an apartment or town house. Building off of this, I like the Homebrew-Mcguyver-DIY aspect of such a Batman. He isn’t like some dude who has access to the world but a resourceful and inventive. His bat-cave would be like a home brew laboratory/work desk. It would be were he crafts and prepares his activities. Following that notion the bat computer would be a McGuyver of all kinds of various computer and technology parts. In this setting Batman like in the reeves film would have a stronger emphasis on detective work. He would use the resources within his batcave for his detective work like complying and analyzing evidence.
James Wan, David F. Sandberg, and Sam Raimi are all horror directors that made great superhero flicks. I'm sure Tobe could've made a kickass spiderman movie.
Unfortunately, this will never happen. First you would have acquire rights from either artist family or personal property and then you would have to transfer their identity to film. And realize that you. Might have to make excuses for the changes or adaptation for Hollywood.
It would actually be really funny if that Spiderman movie happened, considering that’s legit Kamen rider Ichigo’s plot, who was inspired by the Japanese Spiderman, who was the second live action version of Spiderman.
My feelings on Aronofsky's Batman are similar to Fincher's Spider-Man - I wouldn't want them *instead* of Batman Begins or Spider-Man 2002, but I would definitely like to pop into that alternate universe and give them a watch
Funny enough the 90s Spider-man cartoon had a whole body horror story arc of Peter slowly turning into a giant spider. It is not that far from this premise but it was still a Spider-Man story with Jameson, Mary Jane, the classic villains, etc.
I don't fully dislike Frank Miller and Aronofsky concepts but I'd rather it was done with an original character. I believe it would give the two of them way more freedom to push the concept even further.
Michael Keaton is Batman. I mean as far as tv shows go Adam west is Batman but Michael Keaton was the right actor for Batman in the movies, He’s Also beetlejuice, and chick hicks.
I disagree with your assement that completely altering the source material's themes is bad, or that a work can't replace the original - Kubrick's The Shining is infinitely better than the original book, and almost ALL of Shakespeares' plays are adaptations, and they're so good that nobody even remembers the original works.
it's funny. You say insult to the character's legacy, but there are hundreds of comics with spider man that go this very route, i see nothing wrong with this
If it happened now there wouldn't be anything wrong but as a first big spiderman movieits terrible since it doesn't capture what spiderman truly is for the public
Are you living in a cave somewhere? It's the greatest Spiderman/superhero film ever made. After Martin Scorsese saw it he said he wanted to quit making movies because he knew he couldn't be on the same level
