the problem i have after watching dozens of these cpap videos is that none of them test the person live for leaks. It is easy to do, but once you see how to troubleshoot adjustments you can then more adequately use these masks. Troubleshooting is the major component for using these masks. No one walks out of the office with a mask and is trouble free. Of course you are going to have to make an appt. once you sleep and have problems. But would it work better as an educational video to show some of the things you do when it leaks air in one place or the other. Yes you are going to have to learn during the day how to do this, but still.....

  • @milboltnut

it blows PR dreamwear away ! Perfect seal.... had massive leaks with PR side sleeping. No need to sinch up the F30 tight.. just snug. Use your test fit setting on you machine to adjust. I have the F30i....love it. The sleep tech gave me a dreamwear for the study... he had to jack up my pressure to compensate for the mask. I got major bloating with my P30i which sealed better.. but the F30i is great, and had to decrease the pressure.

I have an F30 mask and have bought liners from Silentnight at 6 quid each which only last for a week and are rough on the skin, then from Padacheek a piece of cloth with a few holes cut in it for 40 quid! Then I thought, hang on, I could do that much cheaper. I just need it to protect my skin from the mask so I borrowed a cotton face mask from my sister and she cut two holes for nose and mouth, clipped it over my ears then put the F30 over it. Works fine. You can get them for 1 or 2 quid and they are washable. Give it a try. Also found that the mask slips forward and so doesn't stay firmly on the nose, especially a problem when sleeping. Bought some large velcro cable ties and connected the front and back headstraps, tightened it to a secure and comfortable position and it works fine and stays in position through the night. Great to be able to use the F30 as it is the most comfortable and the full face one brings out a nasty rash on my nose.

I DO get irritation on the bridge of my nose. I tried to use the plastic F-20 original blatter mask and it was a disaster, then I tried the memory foam and this has been the best I have used in the 12 years of attempting BiPap.masks. Would this F-30 treat me any better??

Most people use the CPAP machine, but those with a more serious breathing problem like me use the BPAP machine. All of these masks are designed for the CPAP machine. Are there masks designed for the BPAP machine? The nose masks do not work for me because the air comes out of the nose mask like "jet propulsion." The only kind I can use are the full face. Any suggestions?

You put the F 20 mask in the F 30 head gear and it fit. I use the F 20 system but I would like to put the F 30 mask in my F 20 head gear. I really like the structural firmness of the F 20. So I am assuming that I could get an F 30 mask and install it on my F20 head gear. What I don't like about the 20 mask is that it covers my entire nose and plugs up my nasal pores and it's like going through puberty again, if you know what I mean?

Just found your video which I found very interesting. Been using the F30 mask for around 4 years. However I had to get the mask replaced about 5 months ago and I now have a problem with the fitting which I didnt experience with the previous mask. The problem is with the strap that goes over the top of the head. All ok unti I lie down and go to sleep. In the night this moves forward and ends up on my forehead and consequently air escapes from the nasal area. The nurse I deal with here in the UK says it takes perseverance too get it right. I have tried everything and desperate to find a solution. Has anyone else had this problem and if so have you found a way of stopping this. Thought I was ask her before contacting my local health authority. Thank you

This mask doesn’t work for me. I mean I love the idea and have used it for a few days already but the cutouts for the nostrils are what’s killing me. There’s just no way it would sit properly on my nose and it would conpletely block my nostrils as soon as I tighten the mask around my face. Sure I can still breathe through the mouth but having my nose blocked makes me feel extremely claustrophobic even though I’m not. The only solution I could probably do would be to cut the strip of silicone in the middle of the two nostril holes but I’m afraid that will just completely throw off the seal of the mask.

No it doesn't make it easier on the patient to have fewer sizes. People need a good fit. Some have pretty large heads, some have smaller-than normal heads. Convenience for the seller should not supersede the needs of the customer.

This one is a complete disaster for me. Tried both versions of the F20 with leaks galore and went to the F30 in desperation, but this is much worse. I like the smaller mask size but the deal breaker is the terrible nasal holes. On a flexible silicone mask, this is asking for trouble and I got it. The holes are too small and easy to get out of position, at which point you can't breathe through your nose and wake up feeling like you are suffocating! At higher pressure, the air blasts into your nostrils and quickly irritates. After two nights, terrible ear pain developed. What were they thinking? I am getting very discouraged. This one is going back.

I'm running at 20cm/H2o and I've tried all kinds of full face masks and under your nose full face mask, and the best one I've found so far is F&P Simplus even though I have to cinch it down tight I get the best seal and the best sleep and best sleep reports and the least amount of pain of all of them. I am going to try out this F30 just by chance it might be better. The f20 head gear killed the back of my neck from it being on so tight, and the dreamwear to keeping it from leaking had to have it on so tight it would torque my nose up to my eyebrows, tried different size cushions and adjustments very painful.

Also - I'm using an ASV machine that can self adjust pressures. Being new to CPAP, I understand that mask fit & performance is totally subjective.
One person's experience is that person's experience. Not everyone's.
So, weather it worked for that person or not has NO value for other people. CPAP masks are not panty hose (One Size Fits All or this mask will work for everyone).
I have also figured out that CPAP is all about the money. A prescription is required for a machine or a mask? Are you kidding?
Speaking of money, my CPAP machine costs about what I paid for my Samsung Galaxy S9+. This CPAP is a air blower with a few brains and not that brainy.
The costs of these masks are outrageous and beyond the pale. I can't believe that there is more than $5 in materials. I know that R&D costs money but if reasonably priced, they could sell a GAZILLION.
These vendors could reduce the cost by 50% and still make a good profit.
I also understand that I'm on my own when it comes to mask fit & performance.
Screw Medicare! They impose so many unrealistic hoops to jump through that they might as well be the Veterans Administration. If you expect Medicare to pickup the tab for your CPAP treatment then, I have a bridge I want to sell you.
Fortunately, I have the resources to pay not only for the machine but for all of the masks I need to try to make my CPAP treatment successful.
Unfortunately, there are a whole lot of people do not.
My basic conclusion is that CPAP is only for the wealthy, as usual.
This is totally my opinion, being new to CPAP and being subjected to the realities.

HEX40 I get you, fortunately I have extended insurance paid most of the mask and tubing part, as the stupid machine, they quote me $860 ( ResMed air sense 10) Canadian dollar, Ontario health insurance premium covers 75% , the rest ($215) of it is covered by my insurance company! I m lucky as we live in Ontario, I don’t think I can afford it when I retire as a nurse in future! The stupid air machine worth probably 1/3 to half of the price! The plastic tubing with warmer is quoted $100, the n30 nasal mask charges as $325( cushion cracked on arrival) humidifier chamber is $50 , this is total ripoff.... I don’t think majority of us can afford it! I wish the company can lower the prices so that most of the patient can afford to use and benefit from it! ResMed please consider the lower price for bigger potential population users

I hear you I do. But some of us who need CPAP Therapy have no choice but to use Medicare and Medicaid. I do disagree somewhat about it only being for the wealthy. I'm what you'd call "dirt poor". Now my Medicare covers 80%, my state Medicaid should/will be picking up the remaining 20% and the rental fees. But right now until my mother who was a Level 2 Claims Representative for Medicare gets done fighting with AZ Medicaid the 20% is not bad. My rental is 10.70 a month, cushions are 6-8 dollars, filters .88 for a 2 pack. The pricier things like headgear, frames, and humidifier tubs can be made to last. That is if you take care of it there is no reason why hoses, headgear, tubs can last well beyond the "suggested" forms put out by Medicare and insurance. Being a poor person roughly 20 bucks a month is not beyond my reach. Sure I may not be able to go and do frivolous things like out to eat, the salon, movies etc. but my health is more important anyway. Now beyond that if someone has no income, is not covered by insurance, I can understand where things can add up. But CPAP therapy is not an impossible feat. Now in defense of the suppliers like USA Medical they have to live and provide for their families too. Granted though some DME's like mine are charging Medicare such an absurd price for things that it makes me sick! But it's always the few bad apples who spoil it for the bunch.

the first time is difficult, you need to apply a lot of pressure to separate, but it will come apart.

@@USAMedicalSupply I have small mask and the cushion sits under nostrils. Finally fall asleep 1 hour later then air wakes me again. I just folded it down and breathed through mouth. Tried just the nose piece and laid there 2 hours and put mask on.

Another Resmed issue is their system doesn't have enough venting at all. Don't care the mask, you are breathing in your exhausted air all night. For all you Resmed lovers, place your hand on the air intake filter area. You will feel yourself breathing in and out. Not enough fresh air gets to your mask, terrible design. Notice the Philips Dreamstation has mask venting AND hose elbow venting. Also at each location there is more per spot leaking/venting out. Another win for the Dreamstation.

That I can agree on. You can also feel your breathing if you put your hand on the humidifier chamber. Almost like you are blowing bubbles. Ditto for the F20 and lack of vents. My F&P vitera has venting in the front and venting on the elbow. Only venting I've found on the F20 is on the elbow.

are you referring to the machines themselves or the masks? im somewhat confused. i'm new to BiPap and i use a resmed aircurve Vauto machine and i cant find a mask that seals my face at high pressures...10-25 and leaks get so loud that i cant sleep. the machine then stops because it leaks so much and i feel like im suffocating. always heard that CPAP was a pain in the ass and now i know why! looking for a 3rd Fullface mask that wont leak on me after the F10 and Vitera leaked badly.

These things are a pain in the ass to put back on once everything comes undone. Someone has to invent something better for sleep apnea.

There is very little venting almost life threatening.

If you don’t like the quiet air technology, you have the ability to order the original vent. I have seen no tests to date years later that the exhalation ports are insufficient for adequate CO2 release!

OMG I've had a CPAP mask on for 2 years now and I never get a good enough sleep and I wake up sweating and my face looks beat up. Went to the idiots at the hospital and they told me its normal because its a mask and you're sleeping with it.
Wish I never had sleep apnea as i had a way better sleep without the mask.

@@TomGeek1980 I feel your pain Tom. Have you asked your doc about dental device therapy? My doc says my apea is too severe for that. I toss and turn so much with mask a mask. Constantly waking up tangled in hose, or choking. I'm a side/face sleeper so mask comes off a LOT and very painful sleeping on my back. My doc gave me R/X for Ambien so I'd sleep deeper and move less. All other sleeping pills made me SO tired the whole next day. Ambien 10mg was the game changer. I hose-up, get comfy. Turn off phone, Tv, lights, anything that even MIGHT require me to respond, interact, or get up. BELIEVE ME, if not, I'd SWEAR I was awake while sleep shopping online, texting, talking on the phone, or cook.😴😴 NOPE! 😴😴 Hence, the "Ambien Defense" 🤣 I'm always OUT in 5-15 and have learned (the hard way)to STAY down! 🙃 I now sleep like the dead with ZERO fog/hangover next day. I've been doing mask-ambien combo for years now. You just need to find what works best for you via trial and error. Good luck😊

@@TomGeek1980 yeah, cause if you got the surgery to fix it, you wouldn't need the sleep doc anymore. He wouldn't keep getting paid to NOT fix you by the CPAP mask machine companies that pay him to keep pushing "Their' masks and machines on patience they con into thinking CPAP is the only way. The ONLY and last choice of treatment. It always comes down to the dollars. He doesn't get paid if you get cured. You have rights. You can insist on a referral for a surgery consultation and explore no mask treatments and other surgical options. You want to make an educated decision about your future treatment.
