Think about this. Given what we know so far, the Hounds are placed in an induced coma while outside of the AC, for easier storage in inventory. The only time they are capable of expressing themselves is in combat. It's subtle, but I want you to imagine this.
When he shoves his chain gun into the big mech, given the movement presented by 617s AC...
617 is screaming.
Yeaaa…it felt like 617 got REALLY angry losing his comrades like that and he just snapped. My theory is that 617 survives this sortie and eventually turns into "Nightfall" free from Walter’s control…out for blood seeking revenge.
Life is light and expendable. A world made of iron and violence without mercy. The world we wanted has returned...! Zero-range gatling guns will satisfy every armored core user!

What I took away from that trailer is Handler Walter sent 617 and the other Hounds into a suicide mission. They were successful, but were wiped out.
Now Walter is rebuilding the Hounds, starting with 621.
I think 617 survived because he said mission complete?
@@EloWhisperer I assume that was said by their comms operator inside the helicopter/AWACS (which I believe also transports the ACs) we briefly hear at 1:39.

I remember getting my first PS2 and Armored Core 3. The endless nights of customizing AC and fighting friends all day. Tweaking and perfecting a AC to be the best it could be for your playstyle... such a wonderful experience. I had been playing AC since Masters of Arena but never owned a copy until AC3 and been hooked ever since.

The Hounds remind me of the Dreadnaughts in Warhammer 40k, still barely alive corpses of Space Marines stuffed into walking coffins with guns.

Best theory that I can come up with for this trailer it looks like our original squad was completely wiped out and we were almost dead if it wasn't for Walter however going through that length just to keep someone alive it means we're not as expendable as anybody first thought looks like we were Hound 617 but now here's the question why change our designation from 617 to 621 why are we using someone else's call sign and it doesn't explain why he sent us to Rubicon why just a single mercenary and Walter and his hounds are known established mercenary outfit across multiple different planets
