What Happened When We Tracked Porch Pirates Using GPS in Packages
HTML-код

- It's a frustrating crime that's happening more often than ever as packages are being snatched off porches, and most of the culprits are getting away scot-free. Inside Edition attempted to catch a porch pirate in the act by leaving bait boxes outside several different homes. What the thieves don't know is that a GPS tracking device was placed inside each box with a $250 speaker. The electronics were placed inside the box, sealed up and left on the front porches of three homes in Clifton, N.J. #InsideEdition
I am a postal worker. That first guy was a thief, plain and simple. We don’t take misdelivered packages off of porches at 1:00 a.m. to redeliver them. He should have been arrested and fired. He gives postal workers a bad name. If he does this, he does more than this. I have zero sympathy or tolerance for thieves because no one has ever given me a reason to justify the action of stealing.
In agreement also
Hahah yeah I agree that seemed weird asf! He seemed like a nice guy and the package was still in his car. Idk
i hope the postal service saw this video and fired him, he was lying through his teeth. agreed
If he was going to steal it why would he leave it in his car and not open the box to see what it was? I kinda believed him. He left it in his car unopened because he was going to take it to work with him the next day.
Computer Hacker I have known people personally who have been caught stealing. There is no sense in it. It makes less sense that he was out taking a package off of a porch in the middle of the night. I’ve been doing the job for 24 years. His story doesn’t pass the smell test. I have been a union steward, union v-president & president. I’ve seen a lot & had to defend a lot. It would certainly be his only defense for picking up the package, but it is so incredibly unlikely that no one would legitimately believe it.
Wasn't arrested because he's a USPS worker? That was a FEDEX package. WTF?
Dumb cop! 😂
It's staged
Well, lots of times whenever USPS can't deliver packages because of workload, they hand them over to another delivery service. My cousin tells me that sometimes fed ex gives USPS packages they weren't able to deliver for whatever reason.
Fax
I get fed ex packages from usps all the time lol
Didn’t know being a postal worker made you immune to arrest.
I thought it was just firefighters
And you won't have to do your job rt. I barely get my mail but US mail delivers about seven other ppls mail to my mailbox regularly. I've RTS them, call the businesses , and called post office. Nothing.
Notice what all the thieves had in common?
@@MegaMeaty, I did.
I thought only former Presidents and their toadies were above the law.
They let the one guy go because they confirmed that he really is a postal worker. That is absurd! He just happened to be out at 1 a.m. and picked up a package off of ONE person's porch and drove home with it. He was in his personal vehicle. He should have been fired from his job and federal charges pressed against him.
Yeah, he was going to deliver a package that he opened. Liar!
POLICE.....FREEZE!!!!!
It's ok officer.....I'm a POSTAL worker!
Jesus H Christ, why didn't you say so? I almost shot you.
I know, right? How he was able to pull that one off I'll never figure out.
Black privilege.
That postal worker is such a liar, it was AT a home already, you don’t need to return the box...
It was a fedex box and it was open when they pulled it out of his car. Even if USPS is allowed to take Fedex packages and deliver them, he put it in his personal vehicle (not a mail delivery vehicle), and biggest of all he opened the package which is a federal offense. Dude should have been arrested immediately.
What postal worker? I just see a thief
Wages of Sinn I don’t think FedEx would appreciate their rivals taking their packages 😂

The package thefts were only a side story. The real story was law enforcement doing nothing about it, a public servant committing crimes and not being charged, and a news media company not seeing the real story.
I think the company need to put tracking Device on our package. we can pay for tracking service to track if package is stolen
@@kaboomwinn4026 It's not a bad idea... just have it so you pay a deposit and it comes with a tracker, when you get your package and give the tracker back you get your deposit back.
How true and oh how so sad.
Listen to all the naive white people lol. Then your package AND the GPS will get stolen and its not important enough for cops to do anything about it. They would only have you come down to the police station and fill out a police report while they get smart with you and talk down to you. Those high paid detectives only went out with inside edition to put on a show and i would bet they were even paid by inside edition on the premise that it was done AFTER their work hours.
It wasn't up to the police. It was up to inside edition, since it was their package. They chose not to press charges. When a package is delivered, the homeowner is the only one who can press charges.
He took a package that wasn't his, that was delivered by a company that wasn't his, and relocated it in the middle of the night, when he was off duty from the company he works for.
Bruh, no, that is a scam. He legit got caught stealing. The fact that he works for the usps makes it worse, because he is a thief.
I mean he probably got fired though....later...maybe...

Inside Edition - if your sole mission in this operation was to catch, expose and allow thieves to walk scot-free, you're not helping the situation. What I found most disturbing was the actions of detectives with the Clifton Police Dept. If they aren't willing to hammer thieves in possession of stolen property, and dig a bit deeper, they're not serving/protecting their community. No idea what explanation the USPS employee provided, but detectives should definitely follow up with this individual. Here it is four years later and this issue continues to impact us all. I can only assume, with the current situation in this country, things have only gotten worse. Time to wake the hell up people!

I retired to Italy and here in Italy they have what I consider a great system. Most of the major shippers have agreements with many retail stores that will receive and pick up packages. All you need to do is go on your phone, find a retailer near you for your shipper and it gets delivered to that store. You then go and pick it up from the store. You can also drop off packages at the store. The store only makes a few cents per package but, it's great for the store because it greatly increases foot traffic. Which is always good for the retailer.
All that work and effort with no convictions.
No wonder crime is out of hand

Seriously, what a bogus excuse, and screw the cops that let him off too
Maybe he cares about the people on his route and wanted to avoid them losing a package. But then, as a postal worker, notices the box is missing proper markings or the labels were for a different area, wonders what is in this odd box so looks. Late at night it could be a weird drug drop or something, or maybe just trash? The speaker was still in the box, so he looked and left it in the box. Other thief had it out playing music within the hour. Guy has a stable job so no need to steal random packages. When a crazy arrest caused by a silly news team trap might destroy a whole life the police can look at the big picture and use their judgement, I think they made the right call.

Thats federal Government job, nobody gets fired at fed job. If he was working for UPS, he would be kicked out ASAP
what if it was his job to return the package because if the owner actual ordered it, they would've know the date and not wait till the next day. It would be suspicious if a package is still there at 1 a.m
It’s weird to have a package out side and 1:00 AM and he thought it was a delivery so
The way Anthony says camera is so funny.
A lot of USPS workers keep credit cards too. For some reason, I was getting all of my packages and mail except for my new credit/debit cards.
