Honestly of all of the games during the NextFest demos, this one surprised me the most for how much fun it is. I think that despite it hard crashing a grand total of like 7 seven times, the fact that we came back and tried to replay the mission each time really shows how good this game is. The UI definitely needs work, but the actual gameplay feels so fresh and detailed for an RTS, I love it. The detail in the arsenal is incredible as well, with adjustments not just upping various stats but potentially changing the role of the vehicle altogether.

I don't know if you noticed but B-1 lancer DOES have nuke as one of the payload options

8:25 I love how the commander just doesn't give a shit what your situation is, and just forcefully demands that you retake the fort immediately after all your forces on that side of the river just got wiped from this plane of existence

I like that the game just straight up blames YOU.
In another game, it would've said something more vague like "All objectives failed, retreat!" or "Friendly units destroyed!". But no, this game just goes "You fucking idiot, what the fuck are you doing? You suck ass."
Honestly, we need more games that are actually harsh on the player again.
How dare you stand in the way of his shiny new medal

I'm glad theres a new and good RTS. I hope there will be more RTSes like this.
Dude if it looks good I'll buy it.
The rts market is so unsaturated it hurts :(
There definitely will be.
With the rate game development tools are developing, it's becoming easier and easier for some pretty nice looking games to be made by smaller studios. With how many games are coming out, genres with a fairly small but dedicated fanbase like the RTS genre are a perfect target for studios looking to find players without too much in the way of marketing.
I'm personally hoping for more action-RTS' that come closer to the likes of Company of Heroes. The original was bloody amazing, especially the campaign, but I'm not as much of a fan of COH2 or 3. I'd buy anything that plays similarly.
Same
Pumped for this game
@@T0asty- It's all fucking cold war games. The industry is progressing like a warthunder tech tree we went from ww2 to cold war to modern war.
..bro, its not only good, its amazing. You've got no idea how long av been waiting on this game
*_"Get out in ten seconds, NOT TEN FUCKIN' MINUTES!"_* I also love the voice lines lol
"You can customize weapon load-" alright added to the wishlist
would ya like a ZSU 23 with iglas on your MTLB? YES
It's great seeing more great RTS games out there. It's a very underappreciated genre. It's a great genre and needs so much more love. So it's great seeing Rimmy play an amazing RTS like this.
especially if it's a bit more realistic instead of arcade-y. Don't get me wrong, arcade-y RTS games could very well be fun but there's something about the feeling of carefully executing a plan and taking a city / destroying a base / having a 1-on-1 armored battle that just reminds me of Arma 3, like Rimmy said. Love it
Another one I wish got a bit more love was Cepheus Protocol. According to someone, they've been kind of downhill for the past 6 months or so, without much profits, or literally none at all. I kind of feel bad now when playing it, because even though it has quite a few bugs, it feels a bit hopeless, because those bugs might never be fixed.
Broken Arrow is more like World in Conflict, but without "fire support" (for now) and in realism mode.
Edit: To clarify "fire support" = off map like it was in World in Conflict (except Mobile Arty units). My bad, should have written it like this.
My exact first thoughts too.
That is so what I was hoping to hear, World in Conflict was absolutely sick and it's a shame it has gone without a spiritual successor for so long
There is fire support as in planes and artillery but i do believe they should add like offmap artillery and air assets, so you can have like a MOAB, or A shitload of B-52s striking a target
World in Conflict but with the unit diversity of Wargame, and the ability to customize units like artillery and fixed-wing aircraft is essentially customizable fire support. Even includes a nuke.
God I love world in conflict so much and this looks really good I’m going to have to check this out
An amazing RTS that isn't total war or a paradox title impossible lol
An amazing rts that is paradox or total war is also impossible
**Laughs in giantgrantgames**
Those aren’t RTS games they are 4Xs
@Dick Izzinya the ships go sailing on land, the dlc factions are the strongest, the pathfinding is non existent, and diplomacy is horrendously broken. Finally, there's $200 in dlc containing features that used to be in their games. Yup, I can imagine it.
@@ElGreco15 nah, all the factions are there from the start, it's just that most only become a good option to play once DLC drops, you know, instead of just being complete suffering
Imma be honest whenever I used helicopter in the demo it usually went something like this: BRRRRRRRRRRTTT
*Igla noises*…..
*10 minute reinforcement timer*
Yea same, I was salty when Rimmy casually got away with shit that would end in instantly being swatted out of the sky for me
This plays right into my World in Conflict: Soviet Assault nostalgia, it felt so much alike it that I half expected the general to call Rimmy "lieutenant Parker" throughout the video
This reminds me a lot of World in Conflict... Just a LOT harder.
This mission in particular is pretty difficult.
though theres a little exploit where if you don't take the fort you can just clear the entire map of enemies.
Abit but this looks modern post cold war era
even the way camera pointing your objective
Im sure we can all agree that it is really awesome that there's a new RTS of this style, As always thanks for the videos Rimmy!
Dude as a marine this still is one of my favorite representations of our forces, especially as an infantryman. The voice lines are fucking wonderful lmao.
It’s high time someone gave wargame some competition I’m super excited
Warno looks dead in the water compared to this.
@@blitzkrieg8776 I mean Broken Arrow isn't offically out yet, so Warno still has some time to live. And also I find the AI in Warno to be much better.
@@blitzkrieg8776lmao not a chance.
Warno is way better than this trash. It's way to arcadey for me
@@Reaver3214 You personal taste doesn't matter, especially about a game in Alfa!!!
@@Propaganda9112 cope
Despite the dialogue, most objectives were not time sensitive, so you could take your time clearing them, and it made the mission far more manageable that way. Especially if you focused on setting up prior to capping objectives. Also, in my playthrough i found that if i dropped my settings to low or potato, there'd be almost no crashes or freeze ups.
How bad are the graphics in potato
@@cristobalalvarez5491 Only noticeable if you're constantly zooming into units or are used to always playing stuff on 4K, ultra settings.
As a SupCom: FA player, I was suprised/amused by the gushing over the transport system.
(Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance transports had a certain number of "attachment points" per transport, and each one could hold one normal-sized unit, or one big unit across multiple. And the units themselves were literally attached to the transport - incoming fire could hit them, and certain unit types could even fire at targets while being transported, creating what the community refers to as "ghetto gunships".)
Persisting through crashes only means the game is delivering an experience you want to consume at the moment. If you continue to persist long after then you can claim the game is just that good.
2:13 US Army guy here, that HIMARS is fairly accurate with the exception for the cabin. I WISH the real thing looked as cozy
i knew i was gonna love this game when i dissembarked my marines and heard one of my guys yell out "I SAID GET OUT IN 10 SECONDS NOT 10 FUCKING MINUTES", the voice lines in warno cant even compete with this at all
The moment the gameplay started, I immediately felt the energy of a successor to World in Conflict, on the Men of War engine, with some inspiration from Wargame. I cannot express how excited I am to try this. Thank you sm for uploading this!
I originally posted a comment about how I hoped this could truly replace wargame but after only 5 minutes I have no doubts. this looks like it takes all the good QoL style changes from the steel division series without being too different or cluttered, keeps the fast paced hard-hitting "realistic"-style damage system, and builds on the deckbuilding system by adding all the customization, essentially doing everything warno SHOULD have done. cannot wait for this to finish cooking.
EDIT 2024: Looks like they beefed up the HP on Certain unit types. Disappointing, but I still prefer it to everything Eugen has made. And that’s saying something.
"Realistic" is a bit of a stretch, especially with their AI which seems kind of simple when compared to Steel Division and Warno AI.
@@MistikCo that’s why it’s in quotes and also specifically talking about the damage model
The biggest thing I am worried about is micro management. I Like WARNOs new system where you can make large groups have vague orders like to hold or seize positions.
If this game can allow delegating than I agree this game could definitely beat wargame. However, if we have to micro between air forces, aa, tanks, infantry, and so on, then its just another clone.
Imo, I feel a lot of rts games like this fail without that ability to delegate because then as a player you have to quickly switch between general and platoon level decisions which gets old quick.
I'm sorry, but Warno's still a better game than this, and better looking.
It's like a warno and world in conflict hybrid because when u loose units after some time u get more in reserve and I love it so much
The best part is with all this customisation there will be a point where custom skins/sound mods are going to be made for the workshop.
The fact the T-72 didn't turn into Sputnik and circle the moon tells me there's realism issues
Imagine if the developers had the Warhammer 40k or Horus Heresy licence.
I've been following and supporting the devs since back in late 2019, when they started their Boomstarter (Russian Kickstarter) fundraiser. It's been great being able to talk with devs that care about our inputs for the game during its development. I'm confident that BA will do great, and I hope BA will be Balalaika Studio's first of many great games!
The voice acting in this game seems amazing. I absolutely love how it doesn't just have different lines for different situations but they're also read with really fitting tone (like the marines at 5:00 sounding panicked)
Broken Arrow's demo mission's 2nd stage is very difficult, along with the restart mission replaying the intro every damn time being annoying as hell when you crash, lose or otherwise restart.
I will take this as a spiritual successor to World in Conflict. It got all the feeling just right.
Feels exactly like WiC with Modern Warfare mod on, absolute nostalgia
“Get out in ten seconds, NOT TEN FUCKING MINUTES!”
Might be my favorite line I’ve heard from a game in a hot minute
Hearing Rimmy gush brings a smile to my face :)
So glad to see you cover this rts it's really something that makes me feel like it's a perfect fusion of mowas and red dragon
9:26 That's definitely the crew chief lmao
I been playing a lot of world in conflict and been wishing for something like it more RTS and THIS MIGHT BE IT
Intro was World in Conflict to a tee. I love that.
Does look good. Resupply mechanic is interesting to me. Sort of wish the ground units moved slower.
Neato. It's great to see you posting a lot more rimmy
What I love about this game is that it reminds me heavily of World in Conflict. A cold war game that has you fighting the Russians as well that is very similar to this game, in fact, there are a few voice lines that I found in this game that come from World in Conflict x3
Interesting how Russian units are written through transliteration instead of translation, like "Morskaya Pekhota" instead of "Marines"
It’s just to make the us and the Russian troops more different
8:12 that looked like a proper osprey landing to me.- USMC
Dude, your commentary is freaking hilarious and I have high standards for the comedy in videos like this. Bravo!
"OHMAHGOD! THIS GAME IS AMAZING!"
Yeah..so was World in Conflict which did all this...in 2007
This has to be one of the coolest RTS I ever seen ever thing looks so badass Especially the air unit’s
this is so damn promising, gives the right vibes back to world in conflict and what lots of people hoped wargame would become and regiments would be.
Nice another glorious rimmy video the game looks so cool
This looks like a "World in Conflict" sequel I always wanted. Going to try out the demo
Got o love when Rimmy gets to playing another rts!
I'd definitely be interested to see more of this down the line
So much inspiration from World in Conflict, its beautiful
The showcase of the vehicle customization made me think of a concept.
Imagine this kind of game but it's set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe.
probably someone will eventually mod it in
Game looks incredible! Thanks for the video.
Honestly I'd love to see a 40K game like this focused around the Imperial Guard with actual tactics
Aye Rimmy!! Its about time. Been waiting on this for so long!
I love seeing the Osprey get some love in this game.
All we need in the guardian system to be added to it.
With how things look so far This might be the dopest rts game I’ve ever seen.. I can’t wait for this game and if it delivers it will easily be the best rts game of all time.
For anyone wondering i beat the demo and after the landing you have to secure and hold some points while beeing rushed by a lot of russian tucks and after a while they just surrender and thats all and for anynone who wants to beat the demo but has some bug issues the only bugs and issues i know of are:
-You can bring more people into the fight with one vechicle than it has seats when you order the vehicle first
-if you order a unit by foot or in a land vechicle during the invasion phase then they will disaper forever and lock you out of slots
-you can cheese the game by not capturing the hill but setting up first
-if get an AH-1z and hover on low altituide over the forest you can kill the rusian AA defence
-AH-1Z can shoot throug h itself up and hit parachuting paratroopers
-one of the russian fighter jets bugged out for me and was untargetable by planes (i brought it over the desroyer and its point defence desroyed it)
-T-72 are tanky as hell and smaws and AT-4 have problems dealing with them
-Abrams and LATV with bushmasters are dogshit and cant aim or pen almost anything
-AA has almost 100% accuracy rate
-The landing vechicles with MK19 are made out of paper
I hope this helps anyone
My first thought as a Czech when seeing Kaliningrad? "Hey, what? That´s ours!"
No it's not. And never will be)
Whenever I see a game like this it makes me wish I could mod in Command and Conquer units like the Mammoth Tank and Orca from Tiberian Dawn.
Loved the video @Rimmy Downunder! Can't wait for the next video man! I think it's safe to say that if you can hold down an Area with a Helicopter at Street Level, Broken Arrow may be a Bit Broken LMAO! Fricking love it, I wouldn't be surprised if something like that would happen in real life though so probably not that Broken.
Man, reminded me of good ol' World in Conflict. No, wait, several minutes into gameplay and this is WiC! Damn, shedding tears of joy now. Gotta get this game.
I love how he's so enthusiastic.
That landing cutscene is something straight out of C&C1, and that's a compliment believe me.
I only trust a review if its from Rimmy, Love you man glad to see you're back!
Order all units to Hold Fire, Pull the transports into the trees, unload the Marines and send 2 marine units to support the recon teams and the rest blocking the left flank (all infantry units barricaded in buildings). Pull the mortar into the trees and order a 2nd one, carefully pull the Strykers back from behind the recon teams. Order your 3rd mortar stryker.
Use the mortars to kill the tank (this will trigger Russian arty barrages to target the first line of buildings you are at...so move your infantry up to the road the tank was on but stay on south side buildings do not cross the street yet). Use bounding teams of Marines and the mortars to move towards the canal. Keep your transports out of the fight, you need them to cross the canal and blitz the apartment towers.
Super Awesome Protip: You can rearm/repair/replace units by sending them back to base and then reordering them back. Only send units back if you have space at the base or those returned unit numbers are lost and return them to base before they are wiped out/destroyed.
Ive been looking forward to this.
This reminds me of a more refined and updated world in conflict
This is great keep up the good work 👍

Ive never played RTS games but this genuinely interested me.
One of the cool things about this map is that it's an actual recreated location. 54.642, 19.887
I'm already sold simply because this game isn't yet another "Late Cold War gone hot" RTS. Wargame, Warno, Regiments... So freaking many of these
I never wanna hear the words 'spooky' come out of someones mouth ever again when talking about the C-130
this is the modern world in conflict nice i love it already
Rimmy never used the War Thunder menu and it shows. It has the best of both worlds! It both has different menus AND a "jump to section" function!
I’m excited for this game
gotta appreciate the end cut :D
Yo that's a World in Conflict revival!
I've been waiting for a very long time for a game like it.
I got this Wargame and World in Conflict (+ MW mod) vibes from Broken Arrow, can't wait to upgrade my rig to play this in the future
2:37 we call this foreshadowing in the movie business
I'm so goddamn excited for this game.

I cannot wait for this game.
This looks great! And shows Eugen what happens when you don't do anything with your license: You get left behind.
...except Warno's still the better playing and looking game. ..
good vid, fun stuff.
This reminds me a lot of world at war. I played it for the first time in probably 13 years recently and was kind of sad the studio never made a sequel and this kind of fills that void.
This looks great, it would be great to see some more factions added too.
Well, it is the name of the game, it has to be broken - in more ways than one.
Bugs aside though, this looks awesome, hopefully the bugs will be gone on release, and it'll be nice to see where they go with it.
“Not ten f*cking minutes” yeah they got the Marine Corps sounding accurate 😂😂
Rimmy screaming was hilarious XD
This really looks like a Squad server but from a bird's eye view, it's just that good
Those animations made me qeirdly nostalgic.
Straight up got a COH3 ad on this video. How weirdly fitting.
