A very one-sided battle.
Classic comment! 😂

La batalla del gran señor Hickok45 !
Un maestro único ❤
All I can add to that Is I want to be on his team. Definitely not having to face him. 2" barrel and hitting 90%. Yep behind him not facing him.
I miss working for Sturm Ruger. The best perk was 40% off retail EVERY SIX MONTHS. Oh the arsenal I developed over 15 years!
Damn, 40%, seriously?
Nice - better then we got on the fire station. The chief would buy us a turkey if we had to work a 24 hr shift that day. :-)
Wow might be worth changing careers😂
@@tompinnef6331that was his bonus for you guys.
So, could you put in a good word for me when I apply there?
When Paul Harrel was switching out some of his collection at the shop, I ended up with his GP 100 in 44 Special. He called it his "pillow gun." He traded toward a Colt Gold Cup 1911. I regret not meeting him sooner. He was a good guy.
@maxbrap. Paul was unique, he had a great voice and used it effectively his knowledge was second to none and he never put on airs. His old canvas shooting or hunting jacket was kind of comical but suited him well and I know you all miss him as I do too.
Sad to have heard Paul's passing. He had a grand knowledge and relaxed approach while he was with us, and it was a quick shock at his end. May he Rest His Soul.

Amazing movie
YES!!!! Awesome movie....
“Why do they call him the bullet dodger?”
Damn!😂
@@misterj2875because he dodges bullets Avi
Short answer: NO. The "Glock 19" of revolvers is older than any of us in or watching this video. That revolver would be the S&W Model 10 (previously a.k.a. S&W M&P) .38 Spl.. It was THE single most popular revolver IN THE WORLD for military, police, AND civilians for DECADES. It was simple, compact, relatively powerful, not overly expensive, and built to take abuse. Built on the ubiquitous S&W K frame, it was big enough to hold six rounds, but small enough to still be concealed with relative ease, and comfortable to handle for shooters of all sizes.
Exactly.... It's S&W K and L frames. That's what law enforcement used to predominantly carry. That's what predates Ruger revolvers. That's what more gun owners own vs the SP101 and GP100. S&W L-frames and N-frames are what's most popular for competition. S&W revolvers in general have the largest aftermarket.
The Ruger six series was the line that was replaced with the GP100 series. They were one of the competing revolvers used for LE.
Sure, the S&W offerings were the top seller over Colt and Ruger. Ruger was in the market.
Perfect analogy.
@@NorthwoodsHunterWI Yes, I guess the crux of the argument is that S&W K-Frame and then L-Frames revolver offerings are the equivalent to a Glock.
S&W Model 10, Exactly my thoughts and I'm a Ruger fan also.
I bought a model 19 round butt in 1969 and had it Armaloyed. It has been on my person for over half a century now and the checkering is absolutely worn off the grips. I have absolutely no idea how many times the old gun has saved my ass.(deputy sheriff for 29 years)
When I retired from my sheriffs office they gave me my Glock .40 duty gun. I sold it as soon as could and bought a Ruger GP 100 in .44 special . Never been an auto fan.
Im guessing you didn't hate it, thanks for being a Leo!
You should write a book.
Even if you just keep it for family it would be a treasure for your descendants.
Ok boomer
I was the opposite . I had lugged a 1911 for 4 years as an Army MP. When I got on with US Customs it didn’t take me long to decide that CS-1 ( S& W 686) was eating a hole in my hip. Some guys had the same blue spot which was more or less permanent while mine went away. Besides , carrying that heavy iron and speed loaders which weren’t so fast really and only 18 rounds seemed a bit undergunned working alone in the boonies as we often were. The older I got the more I came to appreciate plastic and aluminum alloy. They still work fine and so much more comfortable. My one happy spot for revolvers is for range shooting, they don’t toss brass all over the place.
@@breeze7863That is the lame, meaningless response, typical of deadbeats.
I love the 44spl too, it's the one I carry. Old Charter Arms Bulldog!
Me too. Exactly
@@dannylamberth9038Me three!😊
I used to carry one as my EDC, but nowadays I only pack it while bear hunting. I use 200 gr. JHP with two speedloaders in a pouch; one extra set of JHP and some snake-shot, just in case.
Had one in the early 80's. Traded it for a shotgun. Wish I had kept it. Looking for another one from same years!
I gave mine to my brother. Dumbest move ever.
Awesome video. Ruger makes one outstanding revolver line. They are extremely durable, thousands of rounds through the Ruger revolver's my husband and I own. We've never had any negative issues. The stainless security six is an outstanding gun for hiking or other outdoor activity.
Thanks for sharing this video.
I'm an old guy who believes you are never too old to learn. Never heard of the .44 Special Hickok45 so thanks for enlightening us.
Huh???!!!
How are you an "old guy", but you never heard of the old guy round 44 Special?!
@ Haven't the slightest idea myself :).
44 Special is one of my favorites great video thanks hickok45
Hand load on the Cheap for .44 mag load it with less power pistol powder fun as can be economical too primers high and powder get maybe 500 rds from a pound at 50.oo come on just check it out. I didn't know till when I was a kid saw uncle hammer a .270 round threw a Sizeing Die and primer powder and bullet. I've been hand loading for 45 yrs
still get into it run a lot of shells on components bought 25 yrs. ago or older.
Love the GP100 and the 44 Special cartridge.
But the Glock 19 everyday revolver is the SP101 .357. Just my opinion, doc. Great video! 💯
Just what i was gonna say the SP101 is a dream to shoot, lot more power compared to 44 special, I think its also a more accurate round, the SP101 is heavy enough to lighten recoil but not so heavy you would hate to carry around all day. its also smaller frame by a tad.
@@HR-rt9nh Accuracy is fantastic with 44spl. in some people's hands. Guns are accurate, or not. Poor ammo can cause inaccuracy. Quality ammo from any quality gun should do just fine for accuracy. The human involved is the largest contributing factor to accuracy. Certain guns suit a person so naturally, the person will shoot more accurately with a particular gun. In a quality gun meant for 44spl or 44mag, with decent 44spl ammo, it is low recoiling, and accurate. 44spl brings more foot pounds of energy than a 38spl, but the 357mag, can beat the 44spl.
love my SP101. the adolescent in me wishes i had two of them with left and right shoulder holsters.
The SP101 has fallen out of favor as my EDC. I'm just not as sold on it as I used to be.
I can go with that.
I've got a 2 1/2 inch barreled 5 shot Charter Arms Bulldog in 44 special and it really is a 'pocket pistol'. Only very slightly bigger than my Charter Arms 38 special 'Off Duty' snub nose revolver. The Bulldog actually fits in the pocket holster for the Off Duty which is how I normally carry it. I'm a big fan of the 44 special cartridge and really like the Bulldog.
Actually I always thought of the Glock 19 as "the modern Model 10/M&P". Besides being THE LE standard for most of the last century, a K frame Smith & Wesson was (for a few examples) the gun Lieutenant Kennedy "hung around his neck" when he made his night swims to the reef to signal for his marooned crew, the gun strapped under Pappy Boyington's life vest when he was tangling with Zeros, and the companion of thousands of lesser known warfighters in the 40's (and beyond; it was the gun my dad carried in Mohawks out of Phu Bai).
The GP 100 in 357 mag is a great gun. Nice shooting.
I'm a Ruger fan ever since my first revolver, a Security Sic. My latest Ruger is the LC carbine in 10 mm.
My oh my a real gun. No plastic.
Yeah metal body for win.
My first gun i ever bought was a 3" DA only Rossi 720 44 spl. Still looks and works as new!
I have a 4.2" GP100 in .357 Magnum. Beautiful gun with excellent precision and durability!
Love the .44 Special ... my everyday carry is a Charter Arms Bulldog .44 for all the reasons you highlighted!
My Charter Arms Bulldog was not reliable. After shooting the first round, the cylinder would bind and not turn.
@@OldRaider Mine goes 'Bang' every time I pull the trigger till it runs out of ammo too soon. LOL
@ I was using hollow point ammo. Glad your gun works fine.
I don't understand the purpose of .44 special. If you're shooting .44 caliber round you want to destroy something so .44 Magnum exists. It's like buy a .44 Magnum and you can practice with .44 special of you want and then you can put the real bullets in it when you need it. A .38 special I can understand because for someone who is small they can have the benefits of a revolver without so much recoil but using a .357 Magnum for .38 special means they'd have a heavy gun. But otherwise there's no purpose because just get a .357 Magnum and you can practice with cheaper, more comfortable .38 special rounds if u want and have something more powerful than .44 special for when ypu need it. A .44 special revolver doesn't even have those advantages and the only purpose of a .44 special round I can think of is for practice.
Jeff Quinn edition ... a year ago I was looking for a .44 Special revolver and my local gun store had the Ruger Jeff Quinn edition as their only one, so I bought it. It is essentially a GP100 with a full underlug and custom grips.
The S&W model 19 was the Glock 19 years ago. It was reliable, inexpensive and versatile.
Finest all around revolver ever made. I actually prefer the 66 because it is stainless
I still have an S&W model 19 6" target. Brings back high school memories.
"Not so much recoil, and pleasant to shoot"...yeah, when you're corn-fed 6'8"! 🤣
It's 44special not 44 magnum.
Facts...this guy's highly skilled and NOT a small guy lol
I’m 5’ 8” and can shoot hot 357s all day long. Physically, not pocketbook wise. The 44 special is, with the most powerful loads, on par with hot 357 loads.
It actually is a more controllable round. The 44 magnum is quite the step up in power.
I'm corn liquor fed. Does that count?
I thought my 44 mag didn't have much recoil before I got rid of it due to ammo cost so the 44 special can't be bad at all
44 Special is a favorite of mine. Glad to see it in the GP100.
I prefer revolvers. I have two S&W revolvers, an N frame and a J frame. I can fire 44 spl and 44 mag as well as 38 spl and 357 mag. These two guns meets my basic needs.
I like the bead blasted finish and non fluted cylinder.
So GLAD to see you back like before.
My Charter Bulldog .44 SPL that has been carried and shot for MANY years, to me has my needs covered. It’s purely a DEFENSIVE handgun, 7 yards in, never be on the wrong end of it, you lose! A ton of bark to match its bite. Not for a “zombie apocalypse” but have never seen one of those nor will I. The only downside is if you don’t reload it can be a challenge getting ammo. Can still be had though. Yeah I’m a “fudd” and still run 1911’s also.Guilty as charged!
My EDC is a charter arms bulldog, when I’m roaming woods its the GP 100. Both good guns in a great cartridge.
I had one gp 100,44spl used Winchester silver tips worked 💪 great
You’re the best thing that ever happened to America you show people what it is to freedom and understanding and you show people what kind of firearms and gives people a chance to see that before they buy them because I remember you used to get to test fire what you want to get. but you make a good video about having a revolver you know that makes a shot that far with so much energy. I’ve always liked semi autos. I carry a 45 all the time that’s what I carry in Tennessee so that’s just what I’ve always carried, but you make me realize that you can’t always have a rifle everywhere you’re at you prove that point in your video which I watched it so late at night but thank you. I don’t think I’ve ever said that.
Sniping with a revolver.... What a marksman!
The first firearm I ever bought was the Ruger GP100 in .357. I got Very familiar with it.
The only .44 wheel Gun I have is a Dan Wesson 744 Monson Stainless. With unfired 4" 6" and 10" barrels, with the 8" it currently has.
The GP100 uses the same speed loader as Smith L frames. The old Security Six cylinder was just a little bigger diameter. I used to trim Jet loaders down to almost nothing so that I could use them in my Security Six for IPSC matches.
THE SECURITY SIX USES HKS COLT TROOPER MARK THREE SPEEDLOADERS
The GP 100 looks small in mr Hickok's hands. I have 3 GPs. 5 shot 44sp 7 shot 357 and a 10 shot 22lr. Love em
I was issued a model 10 smith for my first policd job in ocean city md, and then again for my second job in south carolina. Carried it there for about 6 months before changing to a smith 4046, which was the worst handgun i ever carried in 28 years.
He fired a five dollar bill with that 44😂
Had a Charter Arms Bulldog 44 spc. in 1981. Sharp recoil, but very light. Liked it, but traded for a shotgun in the 90's. Looking for another!!
My S&W Model 24-3 is one of my favorite revolvers. I really am a .44 Special fan!
What, no Charter Arms Bulldog! Come on Hickok its a 21 oz cannon.
That GP100 is bad medicine for bad guys.
I regret selling my S&W 696 3", a L frame 5 shot .44 spl. It was a great trail gun as well as a good carry gun.
I have one. I would not part with it for anything and have promised it to my son who salivates over it whenever I get it out. Hope you did well selling it as they are going up in value.
I have had Colt, S&W and Ruger, the Ruger is my overall favorite.... easy to clean and maintain, strong. SP101 acquired after they got offered, still works like the day it came home.
Charter Arms makes a .44 Special also.
Nice hat hickock, good game last night!!!
Loving the hat Hickok!
0:43 "Did he shoot 4 or did he shoot 5?" Frankly in all of the excitement, I can't remember myself. But you've got to ask yourself one question. Do you feel lucky? WELL DO YA PUNK???
(Gong): "I gotta know! I gotta know!" BONNNNNG
love the revolvers
Love my gp100 in the 357 flavor
K frame Model 19 was my favorite revolver of all time.
I love old cattleman revolver, but this one is even better
I have a shooting range behind my camp since 1979. Lots of lead in the ground now 😆.
The Model 19 is the G19 of revolvers.
model 10 s&w...
I pick up my model 19 from the FFL tomorrow!
Nah, the model 10 is the Hi Power of revolvers.
@@repetitivemotion congratulations on the new 19… What bbl length?

I didn’t even realize Ruger Made a GP100 in 22 special- that’s cool!
Love you videos Hickok.
Best revolver? Manurhin MR 73. Remember Entebee airport rescue, over 357 just increases recoil.
My wife has had her “K” butt framed 3” Smith 624 since about 1983, great gun.
Love the channel, finally subscribed!
Gong, 1st shot, every shot.
There's the Glock and then everything else.
This is something Mike Ehrmantraut would carry
Mike does not carry, he just takes yours when he needs one. 😂
Now, Currently in 2025, Taurus makes a 7 Shot 38/357,and provides anothe Cylinder in 9 MM.It comes with a 2 1/2 " Barrel. The Weight I think could be Lessened. But with total Uncertainty,Socialy,Politically,Possible Balkanization of CONUS Blue States/ Red States ,Ammo availability/ Unavailable,44 Special is NonObtanium. However just as up thru 80's/ Early 90's Wherever you went in the World you could aquire a SW Model 10 and 38 Special Ammo. This Taurus with TriAmmo ability is what we all need. Please note I am 66 Had my first Revolver at 17.Carried/ and Had Revolver under My Pillow for Half a Century.Used them under Extreme Duress. No Shell Casings Left and Other Times The Lightning appearance of a Revolver in Jurisdictions where Forbad stopped Bad Situations from further development and allowed Participants to Consider other Lines of Work instead of Theft Murder Rape Pillage Kidnapping Drug Dealing.
Skeeter and Elmer come to mind
No. The S&W model 65, 66 or the blue versions thereof. The caliber needs to have popularity similar to the 9mm. Thus the .357/.38
Nothing like a well tuned SW K frame.
Glock 19 of revolvers is S&W Model 13 (357 magnum) last FBI revolver.
Wasn't this the round that Elmer Keith souped up to finally become the 44 magnum?
YES
Used to own a Ruger Redhawk in .41 magnum with 5.5" barrel. I loved that gun but it was expensive to shoot.
Hickok, you have got to see the brand new Alpin Arms kommando revolver
I used to have a Ruger security six in the 80s, a great pistol, smaller than a S&W but thicker cylinder wall, it would handle full wack 357, mag, no problem.
I've had a 3" Security Six in .357 Mag. for over 30 years.
The 44 special was where the 44 magnum was developed from.
I like the 44 special.
I worked in a gun shop for nine years and we NEVER had a Ruger revolver come in used, either as a sale or trade-in. That says more to me about the quality and customer satisfaction with Ruger revolvers than anything else.
That Ruger GP-100's kind of a throwback to the British "Bulldog" revolvers of the late 19th Century, semi-compact with a large bore. The concept's not a bad one. Certainly there's only five rounds but as Massad Ayoob put it:
"In a gunfight the last five rounds aren't as important as the FIRST five rounds!" Some may argue the point but I think it's a good one.
My personal experience with revolters is horrible. I had GP 100 with timing problems with cylinder that Ruger could never fix.
Ruger modern style revolvers are something I will never ever buy with all the problems I’ve had . Their semi autos are great and their cowboy style are fantastic but the GP 100 series is a piece of crap.
@@HisDudeness2023 Your experience with the GP 100 is what it is and I won't argue with you.
I loved my S&W model 10.
Got a 10 back few months made in 46 close to it. Bad pictures made it on broker for 230.00 I don't think it has more than 1 box run threw it. Rare Condition! @> - - - - -
Great score on that one.
Great find! Enjoy. My M10-5 is from 1974. Skinny bbl, square handles, blued. 4 in. Going strong, was my first Service Revolver. Brought me home safe for years.
Always wanted gp100 44 special. Wish they would make it again but in a 4.2 barrel!!!
WTI 1988, the first time in my life I saw the Navy, they carry revolvers.Rugers, for swimming, as their sidearms.
Every day is Revolver Day! 😎🇺🇸
The cost and availability of 44 special ammo is problematic in my neck of the woods. That's what pushes me to .357/.38 special. If it were just a bit easier to get ahold of, I'd make the switch. I just don't have the space at home to reload.
Seems like lately there are edits being done. Maybe my mistake. Enjoy you Mr. Hickock.👍👍
there needs to be a shirt with a flower pot being shattered, mid-shot, that reads "I'm into pot smoking" or something to that effect
Please dont insult revolvers like that,,,,,😂
Love the caliber , I’ve carried a Bulldog for years .
Love your vids but wish you would give the ranges of some of the far targets as you shoot them. That would give us a better indication of how a gun/round is performing.
Youve probably mentioned this in the past but remember theres new viewers coming on all the time, so keep that in mind .
All the best from UK.
The gong is 88 yards.
Four shots to kill a flower pot. He's in big trouble if the flower pot has a brother.

Speer used to make aluminum cased 200 grn Gold Dot rounds that were fantastic. Out of my 5" 629 it was the most accurate round I have ever shot of any handgun.
I remember those.
I’m sure glad that I saw one of these shows that you actually missed the target. It proves that my God you are human. You’re a pretty darn good shot short barrel pistol that far wow.
Thank you for the video.
It’s a great round. It’s just the ammo was so expensive.
Smith & Wesson 686+ 3" barrel.
I would argue that the S&W Model 66 is the "Glock 19" of revolvers. It's a medium sized revolver with good capacity in a great caliber for self-defense.
The combat magnum 2.75 or 3" is almost the exact same length as a g19 too
I love mine
I had a Bulldog 40 years ago. Wish I still had it.
If you can, buy a new one, I have been to the Factory with the owner Nick, great small gun manufacturer !!!
I thought he would touch on 3" SP101. I got one, had it tweaked at a custom shop to even out trigger pull. 38 spl +p make it a great self-defense gun.
I really like my snub 357 sp 101 after some slicking up !
@rickyshultz2051 I used Gemini Custom years ago. He was still at it a year ago.
* Charter Arms 44spl always
