@@AlexVictorDefinitely not😂 that is the worst theory ever. He most likely thought that they caught on to something from his performances since they never went on stage and delay the big reveal part like that. Or of course the small possibility of the table being related.
@@jimmy9152knees flash, he never showed the other side of the quart cards and the aces in the beginning. I have the 52 shades of red v3 that you can get and learn this routine.

If you pause at 6:03 you can see him activate the infinity gauntlet. He then travels through 14,000,000 possibilities and chooses the one where he fools us
you can't do that with an infinity gauntlet, you need an infinite improbability drive. The real trick is concealing the fact that you've been turned into a bowl of ramen noodles.
It's way easier. At 2:03 you can see Adobe logo on bottom right corner. There is no trick really, except him hiding behind the table. Rest is photoshopped. He should have purchased the full version.
I’ve been following magicians and performing, as a magician for more than 50 years now, and I have never been so impressed. His presentation and skill is by far the best I have ever seen. Absolute perfection.
You have to realize that Shin Lim can not only fool Penn and Teller, he can also fooled every other witch and wizard. Even they don't know how he did it... and they're magic!
@@WispyEmbers The second time was even easier, he puts it behind his right hand, and then drops it. But the problem with Shin Lim is that he's incredibly quick and smooth, you're bound to miss some moves at some point, dude is unreal
4:50 look closely at his hands. When you slow it down you can clearly see at his left hands that he is such a talented guy and i dont wtf happened but wow.
I've done a fair amount of card magic, but this guy is just beyond amazing. Even on the handful of occasions when I know exactly what he did, the sheer perfection of skill is breath-taking. Add in the creativity and showmanship on top of that raw skill, and just wow.
he didnt took many risks in this one but if you watch original 52 shades of red and the one in new zealand yes it was mindblowing even if you know how its done
Exactly, I saw all of the tricks, but I still think it was a fair fool. There are no physical evidence if you don't pry to far. The mat is ordinary and the table too, there are clearly no hatches or pockets in the mat or table-top, but he does have a secret. As long as that secret is kept there is no way to say exactly what method the secret uses. You can only figure out how the effect is done but not with exactly what means. What kind of forces are in play when it comes to tension, If you know what I'm saying ;) Some of the tricks are really just sleight of hand though and some of them are tricks that every card magician knows. But they are close to perfection, so it really doesn't matter if you know.
The ending means that Penn and Teller had a "You Fooled Us!" card custom-made before Shin Lim even showed up. They were that confident of getting fooled again. Simply amazing.
Actually they had a whole deck of you fooled us printed on it except for one or two that needs to be shown, like the bottom and top card. That's how that works
Shin Lim brings back the mystery element to magic. Not only do we not know how he did most of this stuff, we really don't WANT to know. It's almost as if we're satisfied with the amazement that comes with the trick itself. A truly brilliant, refreshing magician.
Yes exactly! With about every trick done on the show I wanna know how they deceived my mind or how easy the trick sometimes is. But Shins magic is something you don't want to ruin by figuring it out. It just feels so satisfying not knowing it. It almost feels like it isn't a trick, but pure magic
Simply Genius actually its the whole opposite to me. Most of the stuff he did was even openly thought by Shin himself and the only thing i don't know is how he's always doing those deck switches. I'm actually disappointed in both Shin and P&T because first, you can actually buy his explanation of 52 shades of red which includes most of his performance and it's not so clever to go to fool us with a routine where the majority of the effects are known to everyone who wants to spend a bit of money. And i'm disappointed in P&T because they didn't even try to figure out how he switched decks (this is the only unexplainable part for me because i know the rest if it for sure). Normally they would ask him questions if he used black magic or Teller would go up to him and show him his idea on his sketchbook but Penn just looked behind the table and gave Shin the Price. Not that I disrespect anyone of them, they all are great magicians and i really admire their skill and creativity, but with Penn and Tellers knowledge -which is far greater then mine- they should not've been fooled.
I know some moves he makes, and you know what? Still knowing the method... My love for this act does not dissapear! I LOVE IT EVEN MORE! :D Shin is freakin' AMAZING.
Yony Gut1 I love this act too and knowing how he's done most of it makes it even more impressive because I couldn't even do it nearly as good. I was just saying that he should not have done this on the show but something they couldn't figure out. (I really was suprised to see penn and teller being fooled by an act that's for sale)
You could have a friend play DnD, roll your die, and have it always come up a crit 20. The workings behind that would be easier to explain than to figure out Shin's methods. Such an amazingly beautiful performance.
He's a Wizard in the way there were "Wizards" during the Middle Ages-- very talented and skilled magicians, who practice their deceptive techniques to the point they look "real". Too bad there is no real magic. Penn and Teller have said so many times and any professional magician would agree. Let's not go all paranormal. Remember The Amazing Randi's Million dollar challenge.
🤣😂 magic isn't real. No amount of believe makes something a fact. James Randi Science is a way of thinking much more than it's a body of knowledge. Carl Sagan
@@ikon1403 If I'm not mistaken Shawn Farquhar used the same method in his third visit, as hinted by Penn at the end. Is that what you're thinking of as well?
Whenever I've seen this guy, his sleight of hand is impeccable. Considering he's recovered from a thumb injury like that, makes it all the more remarkable. One of the best sleight of hand artists I've ever seen.
The year is 2030. Shin Lin has a cameo every other show on penn & teller, and at this point, he has lost all his limbs. Nobody still knows how he does it
Kevin At this point Shin Lim will go down in the annals of magik as the Dark Sorceror that pioneered and later perfected the techniques we call "sleight of stump".
I've been dedicated three full years of my life to sleigh of hand and card magic, I must say even if with what a learned I know some of how does his routine works it just make it even MORE impressive. I have so much respect for Shin knowing that what he do is super hard to master. What a inspiration in every sense.
Wait a damn minute. Surgical operations to the hand? Losing finger/thumb movement? Magic recovery that also increases magic powers? ...Dr. Strange? Is that you? D:
Penn and Teller are very experienced professional magicians. When it comes to magic tricks, all it takes is knowing the category of the trick: card tricks, dice, etc for Teller to pretty much know what techniques are applied and how the trick is done. There no need to "try." They will either know how its done or won't. Only amateurs will guess. And only the inexperienced will try. Probably, they know how a trick is done 10 seconds into the magician doing it. And if they don't know by then, there's no point wasting time.
Same, I’ll only watch penn and teller, because I completely trust that they won’t edit or plant anything. Most tricks online are just crazy camera and editing tricks, not actual street magic or things you’ll be able to see in person.
I know how he did it. He didnt actually sever his tendants. He had an operation done to his hands so he could store a whole deck inside his hand. The whole accident was a misdirection of the true purpose of the operation. *Obviously im joking, great job Shin Lim, your act(s) are elegant and beautiful. I hope you are doing well, it seems you recovered well atleast.
Congratulations Shin Lim!! Your dedication and flawless performance has earned you great success. I sincerely hope it continues for you!! You are absolutely amazing and well deserving of great success!!

Shin Lim is awesome one of my favorites I think I have a guess for anyone wondering how he does it at 2:16 if you frame by frame on full screen you can just barely see the outline of the card on the black mat as he flips the cards So I am assuming they just all had black backs to cover them and blend in with his mat then he has some insane/incredible sleight of hand to make it look as amazing as it does
Welcome to Shin Lim Fool Us! Our first contenders are Penn & Teller. Will they be able to fool him and get the chance to share a stage in Las Vegas with him? Lets watch!
He meant that Lim rhymes with Him. Not only does it sounds better, but the word "Us" doesn't make sense when there is only one guy (Shin). Don't insult somebody, especially when you're the one that didn't understand Takaiiro. What he wrote was.. quite simple to understand actually :)
The thing I particularly love about this act: Shin Lim kept his hands and forearms visible the entire time. None of this "put a cloth in front of the magician for a bit while he does something sneaky" or "make you look somewhere else while my other hand is pulling a fast one". He's right in front of you, doing these things that astonish, and encouraging you to stare right at him while he does it. That's so pure, so perfect, the guy is pretty much defining everything stage magic should be.
The bad thing about this routine is it's exactly what you describe but in a different way. He's doing *VERY* sneaky things, but in "plain view." The problem being is this trick is actually filmed twice (notice how his sleeves go up and down during the routine) because you can see everything in the original performance. This trick definitely looks awful up close, and a lot of the lighting has to be careful, or you can see the cards on the table. He used to have a video up where you could see all the black backed cards on the table, in plain view the whole time, and I believe he took it down, but the magic was completely ruined when you could just see them sitting there the whole time. In a few instances in this video you can see them too, but it's very subtle. The main problem with this routine is he took a black art card concept, which until this point was used for only minor effects, and made it the star of his illusion. He's overused it to the point where it becomes kind of obvious what he's doing once you watch his performance a few times, and it gives away a relatively unknown secret to laypeople. His routines are good, but they are borderline too edgy because certain parts are way too obvious and they giveaway too much. For example the dream act is magical the first time you view it, but after that, it's way too obvious that he's using duplicate cards.
I didn't noticed that this was recorded twice until you mentioned the sleeves thing, and yes, you are correct. I have the 52 shades of red V1 and V2 and they look beautiful in camera with the correct lightning, but up close it looks like complete shit.
agreed, Its why I have purposely ignored anything having to do with how they are done. It just ruins it. Unless you want to be a magician stay mesmerized by the mystery.
But at the same time knowing the techniques yet seeing a master pull them off so well you still don't notice is a legitimate mindblowing experience. Watching Michael Vincent's card tricks for example.
Chrono105 I enjoy finding out how they do the tricks because then I feel so much more respect for the magician’s finesse and confidence at looking me straight in the face and fooling me right under my nose when I didn’t even blink. It’s just magical all over again!
I see everyone in the comment section how its just magic powers. But no, the truth is, he is the flash. He moves so fast that the human eye cant decipher the moves he just made. Simple as that guys
I usually don't feel one way or the other about sob stories, but just... god damn it dude, life needs to cut this guy some slack- he's fucking earned his keep by now.
Anyone can do "card tricks", but Shin Lim's act is so beautiful and done to perfection that it almost seems real. The performance makes it stand out so much. The slow movements, speechless performance, and accompanying mystic music just makes this guy awesome. Great job !!
Mike and Katie Show My card trick explained: 1.) Show your card 2.) Say "I WILL MAKA DISH CARDA DISSAOEARRR 3.) Shove card under table 4.) Say "WAKLKALALALLALL"
Wasn't the entire reason he picked up magic in the first place because he developed carpal tunnel and had to give up being a concert pianist? And then he had two severed tendons in his thumb? I'd say he has bad luck with his hands, but he keeps bouncing back.
Hes like a cursed monkey paw: One Finger grants you a wish...but at what cost? He made two deals with the devil now...the first one to grant him magic But what was the second? O-O
Those are well done tricks , but nothing out of this world , he is a good magician that's all , he failed here and there tho and made his tricks a bit obvious here and there, but hey when the camera is watching you at multiple angles it's hard to pull off what he did
@Enux. What I understood from your comment is that you're soo much better than all of us. Thanks for dropping this insight on youtube so we can become better people and live up to your standards.
@I Hate What SJWs Love - There is _no "real" magic._ It's all sleight of hand, perfected by years of practice and dedication to one's craft - and use of specialized props.
Truly breathtaking, I can almost hardly believe this isn’t wizardry. I can often catch tricks but Shin just never fails and I got back that magic I once had.
I love this guy. I'm 54 and have been watching magicians my whole life and had basically lost interest many years ago. This guy brings the mystery and excitement back to magic that I've been missing. Love it.
Shin Lim is probably the best card magician there is. I'm a magician myself. I think I know how about 60% of this is done, but the rest? I've been trying to figure out since he first appeared on TV and it's just impossible. I've taken a look at gimmicks, I examined everything frame by frame. Some of this stuff is just pure wizardry. I love it
yeah i totally agree the way he performs the tricks is just beautiful and pure, I think he the best card magician for sure fooling penn and teller not once but twice lol
It's crazy. Sometimes I know *when* he's doing something, but I don't know *what.* Soemtimes I know *what* he's doing, but I can't for the life of me figure out *when* he does it. His sleight of hand is so fast and precise that it boggles the mind, even when you're looking for it.
for a hint, he is using a super light absorbent black backed cards. Check 2:57 as he turns the cards towards the super black base, you can see both of the cards are black backed. Impossible to see from the distance its filmed at. And at various points you can see him slide them off the table like at 3:13
It's simple, he does use actual sleight of hand to make cards appear and disappear, but he hacks the texture files of the cards to change the color of their backs and fronts. At least that's what I believe.
There were a lot of grear magicians in this show, but this dude, this dude is S+ tier. I have yet to see someone at this level, for real he makes even P&T look like amateurs a bit
I like the way he asked with the cards if he fooled Penn and Teller 4:12 and the answer was also presented with the cards 7:15 :) Really nice communication :)

most of his tricks can only be explained only one way. Like 1:58 he must had the king the entire time behind the queen. It's not even real trickery, it's more slight of hand that I didn't think was humanly possible.
That is the point of "illusion" - to make techniques grounded in reality that are so seamless and imperceptible, it actually seams like real magic. Shin Lim is obviously one of the world class greats when it comes to card tricks. Great style and delivery of the old school "magicians".
Kyle Robinson No he doesn’t literally you can slow it down and see that the cards he dropped in the table and then pushes them off into his lap. Please shut up about Demons, the video and stuff you’ve heard is fake, don’t be a lunatic
vinesthemonkey The thing is he has so many little moves that he does in terms of double lifting, palming, dumping, switching, and other tricks that it's impossible to keep up with everything he does the first time you watch it
KH9078 its camera and choreography. this was a staged show that people cant seem to believe, his first one was obviously better and when he did his reveals, you could see the slight of hands. the camera angles helped a lot as they always will with tv magic
KH9078 especially for laymen that don't know when to watch for these moves. Even knowing a lot fo these principles his application is flawless and so incredibly smooth that o had to watch it over and over to detect any sleights and I still can't figure it all out
Wowwwww. You know you can buy the stuff he uses to perform these tricks. Just search: "Shin lim 52 shades of red v2" and you can perform the same trick!
I mean, if you want someone to poke holes in the trick, allow me to illuminate. If you look closely, little magical holes are poked in his hands that move the cards from our plane of existence to a separate pocket dimension for storage. It's plain as day, really.
Me, thinking I'm smart: Ah yeah he must have black on the other side of the cards, you can see him turn them and slip them off the table *He starts changing cards, colors, entire decks* Me: Hah...
Some will understand, he performs his magical abilities on a different 'plane' of consciousness. We see what appears to be slight of hand or 'magic' but on his plane nothing is slight of hand. It's like watching a video which has had specific frames removed.
Everything Shin does is incredible. It's great to see card tricks being portrayed with an element of seriousness. So many people use them to generate laughs. It's refreshing to see Shin perform card tricks.
Actually the air of seriousness or mystique was so tiring and cliche (frac and top hats, anyone?) that the new generation of magicians added comedy to it. Now with Shin Lim he is actually bringing back the classical magic to the masses. There are trends even in magic, humans get tired very quickly, and seems that everything old become cool again every 30 years.
I love coming back to this video it never gets old. The magic is amazing but the act really pushes it over the top with how deliberate every motion is. There is no obvious pivot to talk about something unrelated that is intended to distract like is sometimes common in magic. Your performance is silent but it really speaks volumes.
Mr. Lim, I have come to the conclusion that you must have bargained with fairies for your powers. You are the only magician I've ever watched unbroken footage of who never once takes a suspicious palming or stealing stance. I watch magicians carefully to check the timing and techniques of their "dirty work", and I can honestly say that I can't detect a single one of your sleights. Most of the time, your hands never even go near your body to take things from! I am genuinely flabbergasted by your art and inspired by your dedication and performance. You are truly a talented and wonderful practitioner of the art.
The cards have black backs that blend in perfectly with the black mat. He's ridiculously fast at putting them in his hands with techniques like the one at 2:17 where he uses the corner of a card to flip two cards from the mat into his hand. Even when the video is slowed down to 0.25x, the cards aren't there in 1 frame and are in the next frame. He's just that fast.
The Stern Dragoon It’s a great performance but i definitely see some unnatural movements that give some things away. Watch 2:58 and imagine the back of the cards are black. They were never in his hands to be crushed- he throws them on the table and then very obviously sweeps them off. Every time after a card “disappears” watch the hand that doesn’t have cards in it. He is drawing your attention to the cards in one hand while sweeping away the card that “disappeared “ with the other.
After watching really closely both of Shin Lim's performances on Fool Us, I am finally able to say how he does it! First of all, his magic is awesome, but now that I understand the method, it's not as impressive as it was the first time I saw him. So, this is how he does it: first, he stops the time. While the audience is frozen, he is able to handle, switch and hide the cards in a normal fashion, but to the audience it will appear impossibly fast. Of course, with time manipulation, anything is possible. So, by turning to Neo from the Matrix, Shin is able to fool everyone, including Penn and Teller. It's really simple, actually.
I don't understand. Most magicians use sleight of hand to to pretend they have magical powers, but he uses real magic to pretend he is using sleight of hand

holy shit you can see blue behind the red right there and that means he used sleight of hand and there was only one red card in that instance
I've done a fair amount of card magic, but this guy is just beyond amazing. Even on the handful of occasions when I know exactly what he did, the sheer perfection of skill is breath-taking. Add in the creativity and showmanship on top of that raw skill, and just wow.
Could you give me the times that he mindfudged you the most?
he didnt took many risks in this one but if you watch original 52 shades of red and the one in new zealand yes it was mindblowing even if you know how its done
What kind of forces are in play when it comes to tension, If you know what I'm saying ;)
Some of the tricks are really just sleight of hand though and some of them are tricks that every card magician knows. But they are close to perfection, so it really doesn't matter if you know.
The ending means that Penn and Teller had a "You Fooled Us!" card custom-made before Shin Lim even showed up. They were that confident of getting fooled again. Simply amazing.
Or maybe they just had this card ready for anyone for sometime dummie
@@privatewins5856 no it was for him alone
Of course they didn't. They're magicians. They magic. They just make a deck appear and it's exactly what they need!
Actually they had a whole deck of you fooled us printed on it except for one or two that needs to be shown, like the bottom and top card. That's how that works
They may have had a we weren't fooled card in the pocket as well
Shin Lim brings back the mystery element to magic.
Matthew Thomas. No you don't.
The comment section of this video did not disappoint me
You could have a friend play DnD, roll your die, and have it always come up a crit 20. The workings behind that would be easier to explain than to figure out Shin's methods. Such an amazingly beautiful performance.

But they said they watched him even CLOSER this time...

Should be called Shin Lim; Fool Him. Just because rhyme and us doesn't make sense when there's just one guy
It would be Shin Lim; Fool Me.
He meant that Lim rhymes with Him. Not only does it sounds better, but the word "Us" doesn't make sense when there is only one guy (Shin). Don't insult somebody, especially when you're the one that didn't understand Takaiiro. What he wrote was.. quite simple to understand actually :)
No, you.
Welcome to Shin Lim Yunufume!

I agree... what Shin does is just wonderful he is a breath of fresh air to the magic world ☺
iiii knooowwww?? !!
right?
his sleeves are up
he shows his hands??...
wtf is that?
This is so amazing that you don't even want to know how it is done. Just incredible sleight of hand. Shin Lim is a wizard!

But at the same time knowing the techniques yet seeing a master pull them off so well you still don't notice is a legitimate mindblowing experience.

I mean, if you want someone to poke holes in the trick, allow me to illuminate. If you look closely, little magical holes are poked in his hands that move the cards from our plane of existence to a separate pocket dimension for storage. It's plain as day, really.
What you call poking holes is called figuring out how things were done. It only takes away from the magic if you don’t appreciate it for its skill.

Greatest magic performance EVER.
THIS YOUNG MAN DESERVES RESPECT.
Me, thinking I'm smart: Ah yeah he must have black on the other side of the cards, you can see him turn them and slip them off the table
*He starts changing cards, colors, entire decks*
Me: Hah...
This must be it!
half side of deck is of blue and other half is red
see carefully
stfu so unfunny
the most important thing is not what he did is how he did
The ministry of magic will hear about this!
Natalie Tietz 😂😂😂
+EyevanRomVlogs Don't worry people the ministry is watching

Almost Losing A Lim Didn't Stop Shin Lim
SUCISOUNDS golf clap 👏🏼
Very Punny.
Don't Read My - A true Magicshin
Cuz then he'd just be shin.
What he did was Limpossible!
Jester
I totally agree :)
Yea lots of these magicians with corny jokes and puns just make me not like them when their actual performance of a trick was good.
This ain't no trick! This be demon magic, yo!
Exactly! I love his style!
I am a little kid and I love magic. You inspired me. I really want to be like you. Thank you

田中裕貴. I do not think anyone can be like him. He is really magical!
At the end, I loved how Penn delivered his verdict to Shin, nice touch.
You couldn't be more right. I have watched this 3 times and damned if I can see anything he pulls off. He's friggin' good!
The Stern Dragoon deal with the devil thats what it is
To say bargained with fairies is being nice. I thought a little lower than that.
😂😂😂
LOL if you search "52 shades of red" on Aliexpress, you'll see exactly how he does it ;)
Damnit, why did you tell me? Now I feel like the magic is ruined. :P
nope lol I bought his product, I'm not allowed to say tho but its a really rare and unused method nobody uses it
Stops time . . . okay, good-tip . . good-tip. :)
I could watch this guy do magic all day. Just amazing. Well done!
i couldnt, my brain would be to fucked after only 10minutes
I was absolutely in awe of this guy!! He put such a smile on my face! Truly a beautiful act he has
