- In the Season 3 premiere of The Burger Show, pro-Skater Tony Hawk teams up with Alvin to taste-test iconic burgers, including the Ramen Burger and Impossible Burger. From his ubiquitous video game series to his record-breaking feats at The X-games, Tony's influence is writ large on skate culture. So we thought it was only fitting to have one legend in the skate world judge another set of legends in the burger world. And for good measure, Tony busted out some tricks on the vert ramp with-you guessed it-a burger in hand.

(And No. 2 with no onions at McDonald's, where the onions are white, if memory serves me.) I think he was trying to be polite by downplaying it but finally was like "Ok, there's literally onions on everything ... I trust you, but WTF, man?"

Yeah but the show isn't made for other people's specifications. Alvin is just replicating food from other chefs how they normally are, and not changed. This is the point of the show. How Tony will react to these burgers if he was to buy them himself, He might not like most of them since they include onions in the burgers.

@Dr.Drinking taste is subjective I find onions in any form extremely overpowering. I might use half an onion for a whole pot of spaghetti sauce. It just over powers everything so easy to me. I like to fry my burgers with onions in the pan so they pick up just a little flavor.

You can’t do that with negative comments coming from the guest brought on with intentions to do that. Nice jab at “the US” (pretty sure you didn’t intend to include South America in your bullshit characterization). And no, the problem isn’t with Gordon. It is that 95% or more of people don’t know what it takes to make a near perfect food product. He sets a high bar to indicate his refined palette, the roots to his success, and to not bullshit the line when something is average vs exceptional. You’re just a pussy and a dumbass.

I think that Alvin is a genuinely good chef, a nice guy, and very knowledgeable. That being said, Sean, please give this guy some training/advice in giving interviews. I’m sure that he’s just nervous, but he’s not very knowledgeable about guests and doesn’t connect with them, but alienates them. Your show has to be flexible to accommodate the guests. If goddamned Tony Hawk doesn’t like onions and bleu cheese, give him a burger without it! Improvise, dude. The issue is that this lack of connection makes this show awkward and borderline unwatchable.

But he didn't hate it.... That is being a chef.... Trying to make ingredients you think you don't like introduced in a way you might.
MNBassHound no If a customer, especially a high profile customer, specifies their preference, it is the chef’s job to follow through with their requests in order to deliver the best dining experience for them. It is not up to the chef to try to sneak in unwanted ingredients just because they might think its good that way. The customer is always right.
Furthermore, the production team should have discussed Tony’s food preference prior to filming, and chosen burgers that fit more to his personal taste. Theres tons of celebrities out there, many of whom Im sure are fine with onions, if they were insisting on doing 3 burgers with onions, maybe they shouldve found a different guest star.

I know the food festival hes talking about in NY referring to the ramen burger! Totally recommend to go their open only during spring/summertime right next to the science museum/citifield stadium. You get rounds and variety of diff food!
I like how Tony repeatedly hinted towards not liking onions, yet almost every burger had them. Also did you notice how Tony seemed like he liked a regular burger over all of these. Like none of them was he like Oh this is my goto now. He was more like It's good but it's missing this, or it's a game changer, but I was expecting something that didn't come. And last but not least. This levels the playing field, not tips it over.

As a kid I fell in love with all things skateboarding and bmx in the late 90s I was a kid flipping channels and the xgames were on and I never seen anything like that. I saw Bob Burnquiest(spelling?) and Matt Hoffman but the thing I remember the most was seeing Tony hawk for the first in my life. He was attempting the 900 and it was so cool after that me and my brother got bmx bikes skateboards rollerblades scooters and Tony hawks video game as well as Dave mirras. Tony Hawk was great but that interview was terrible. The interviewer seems to know nothing about skate, questions were awkward and I feel like he Tony didn't have much chance to say what he thought of the burgers.

Maybe the fact in doesn’t seems to know much about skate, like at the 8:00 mark, I know he wants to say something outrageous to make the comparison, but you can see his hamster running to find a skate trick that’s really hard and he come up with jumping 50 steps staircase... he’s talking to Tony Hawk not Ryan Sheckler. He could’ve said doing a 1080 or some shit like that.
I get he’s not an interviewer, but he’s stills doing a cooking show with guests and he should at least come prepared. That question at 11:28 about Vans and Nike was so hard to watch, I had no idea where he was going with that, at least if you’re to talk about skate shoes make sure to know who sponsor your guest and not talk only about other brands.
Ben Wangler look because something didn’t annoy you doesn’t mean it can’t annoy someone else. I thought this episode lacked research about the guest and it made me not enjoy the show as much as I usually do. You telling me it’s nitpicking won’t change my opinion on the matter.
