The Klipsch Costco set is right now $100 off, and the sub is also $100 off. Plus, reviews indicate there are 7 sets of speaker wires, so you’re all set. AWESOME deal.
So I got the Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos Surround System plus the Yamaha TSR 700 and ordered extra speaker wire. Well when I opened up the Klipsch boxes, they actually packed 5 x15 foot cables and 2 x 25 foot cables instead of what was advertised
The best receiver they sell in this price point is the yamaha TSR-700. It is the same as the V6a which is a $600 receiver. You can get it for $330-400 depending on sale and is superior to the ones you mentioned.
Plus this 790 Reciever is nit a 7.2, it's false advertising by SONY or a mistake, it's a 7.1. Yea, I kind of like the 1080 better, but at 350 bucks vs. 600 dollars, I have to go with the TSR-700.
Yamaha TSR-700 got NO DSP DTS CHIP on board, shame to Yamaha. Same is Sony STR-DN770, i don't know about 790's yet. That's why they got "SALE: on it LOL. Just buy an older model of Yamaha or Denon.
Good info. Got my theater setup off of Craigslist & EBay. Thiel Viewsonics for $400 Infinity bookshelves $50 Onkyo rec. Atmos $50 Polk 10 and 12 subs $80 each Magnapan front speakers $100 Cerwin Vega! AT-15’s $100 to go with the ones I bought in 1991. 2 Adcom amps $350 each. Polk center $25 Cerwin Vegas & Adcom are in a stereo configuration, the rest is the theater. 120” projection “sound permeable “ screen. Effing awesome!
Yamaha TSR 700 sells for 399 in Costco or sometimes 330$ during sale. If you are a music lover ,Yamaha has its class which is far better than Sony/onkyo
Thank you for the deal info 🤘🏽, Bought the Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos surround system from Costco and the 12 inch klipsch subs are $100 off right now- $150each so at that price I also took your advice and bought two of them 👍🏽, couldn’t find any sales on the receiver so I went with the Sony STR-DH790 - Thanks again!
Coming from a huge Klipsch fan, you must get the RF 7 III. I have them on the low end STR 750DH Sony receiver with a HSU Research MK5 VTF3 subwoofer and it blows away 99% of systems I have ever heard. I also have an Emotiva power and pre amp when listening to 2 channel audio. Definitely need another HSU research to fill the room more. Thanks for the advice and these are some killer deals.
Great video, love the editing! I have always recommended purchasing two Klipsch 5.1 Theater Packs and a Denon X3600H or X3700H now. That way, they can have 5.2.4 (one center channel left over) for about $2K. Keep up the great work!
It's always a good day when TechnoDad comments on my video! :) Two Theater Packs is a good idea, too. You mind if I make a video on that as well? Haha! Thanks so much for the compliments! You rock!
Dude, I just purchased and installed this system. The sound envelops me. That 12’ sub definitely shakes the whole house. I had to reduce the crossover and gain. Super clean bass on it.
I picked up that 5.0.2 klipsch system, with the R-12sw sub, and the yahama TSR-700 for $399 Which is also the (RX- V6A) for a total of just slightly over $1400 for everything at Costco...and it sounds really good, its loud and has quite a punch from the sub. Plus my system actually came with 7 separate speaker cables even though I picked up 100ft copper 14gauge wire
Fantastic! And yeah, I’m so surprised Costco STILL hasn’t updated the online description about the amount of speaker wire that comes with the system. I hoped they wouldn’t short change customers like that, and it turns out they don’t after all. 🤷♂️ Update the info, Costco! 😄 You can return the speaker wire, right? I hope? 🤞
I purchased this setup with the Yamaha TSR-700 receiver also at Costco in December. The speakers came with wire for everything, including the Atmos speakers.
@@cgm246 I am. At one point, I was looking at going the soundbar route, and I'm so glad I didn't. For the price, these speakers and the receiver are great. My space is relatively small compared to some home theater setups, so I can't speak to filling a giant room with sound. But I'll say there's enough power to make my wife upstairs complain it's too loud at times. The clarity has been surprising as well, and that's comparing to a friend's setup of $7k+. The one area I haven't been able to test is the upward shooting Atmos speakers because my 2016 TV can't output Atmos sound. So I'll be testing that out next.
The 5.0.2 system is on sale in-store for just $699! If you aren’t a member or don’t live near a store, you can get it online for $799. The R-12SW subwoofer is also on sale for $199 both in-store and online. Those deals expire Apr 27, 2021, so hurry and snag them! Just picked them all up and will be hooking them up this weekend to my Denon AVR-X4700H, replacing a 25-yr old Energy system that has been fantastic and will get moved to our master bedroom. Thrilled to get this amazing deal, and can’t wait to hook it up. May get an extra pair of R-41M bookshelf speakers to create a full 5.1.4 set up!
I got the $799 deal online, but can’t find the $699 deal at any of our local stores. I live in Virginia. Where are you? Maybe I can get a price adjustment. Don’t mean to be greedy.
I bought one of these subs at Costco last week when they were on sale for $169. Just the one sub tests the structural integrity of my house. I’m only running it at 1/4 gain. Insane punchy base.
I just purchased this 🔊 speaker system with the extra base sub from Costco, and was wondering how the new Denon 760H receiver would do running with these speakers?
Got 2 of the R12-SW subs back in Nov 2020 from our local Costco, $149 ea. 😎 That was 2 weeks before BlackFriday. On BlackFriday they were going for $189 ea. I haven't seen them going down to $149 ever since.
I was excited to purchase this system. However when I was at Costco to purchase the system, on the box it stated that the system contains items that can birth defects and cancer. So as good as this system is my overall Health is more important to me. So I did not purchase the system. Bummer.
@@lawrencegreywolf1397 Just a heads up, California Prop 65 is on just about everything. As long as you don't decide to eat the rubber surround or the cones of the speakers and you don't ingest the synthetic fibers inside the towers (used instead of cotton) you'll be fine. I get the 'worry' but we don't stay inside with oxygen tanks even though the sun and the air-quality outside causes cancer too. 😊
Hi Ealan, I am planning to get 85" QLED(2021 Q70A) and a matching sound bar to have home theatre setup in my lounge space. My lounge size is 12.5 foot depth, width is 10.5 foot and ceiling height is 7.9 foot. I wish to have 4 seats in a row. Mostly i watch regular TV shows, movies, and sports. I dont play games on this home theatre. Could you please advise on choosing between Home theatre soundbar samsung HW-Q900A and Q870A(2021). Both are in same price the range. HW-Q900A has 7.1.2 channel sound without rear speakers. HW-Q870A has 5.1.4 channel sound with wireless rear speakers. Could you please suggest me to choose the better soundbar from the above two and few tips on setup, considering my room space, TV size and seating capacity. Thanks in advance.
Go for the Q870A. Having those rear speakers makes a difference for a great surround experience. It’s better to have actual audio coming from speakers behind you, rather than relying on a soundbar bouncing audio off side walls to give the illusion of sound coming from behind. The rear speakers can either be directly to your sides and slightly above your listening position, or slightly behind and to the sides, pointing towards your listening position. That should get you the immersive experience you desire. 👍 That’s one gigantic TV! I’m jealous! Gonna be a fantastic setup when you get it all! 😀🙌
So I got these speakers with the Denon avr-s750h also at Costco and I have to say they sound great. I didn't realize what I was missing when I was using my Polk Magnificat SR (soundbar) system. I was considering a move to a Sonos system but glad I didn't so much more bang for your buck.... literally. I highly recommend this setup!
I just scored these Klipsch speakers in late Oct of 2023 from Costco, what a find! I upgrades the rears though. They are now powered by an Emotiva BASX MR1 AVR 11.2 channel and an Emotiva BASX A3 power amp for the front stage, just wow!
I hope you make video about “when you need amplifier for your home theatre” And explain the sensitivity of the sound speakers pls Thanks elan I really enjoyed with your video.
My local Costco's did not have this stocked but I got it online for $799 ($100 off, sale ended 7/30). If I buy the Denon 7 channel AVR-S750H from Costco (for $400) it looks like I can do a 5.1.2 setup with this Klipsch set. If I want to add 2 additional surround speakers I'll need a 9.2 channel AVR which look to be much more expensive...and a lot of them don't even support eARC. Note: I am looking for that Sony STR-DH790 AVR but could not find it new online.
Yeah receivers are going through a chip shortage worldwide, so models that are normally in stock all the time…are not. 🙁 Onkyo is supposed to be coming out with a budget 9 channel receiver soon. October maybe? $799 or somewhere around there? Was supposed to come out in June, but alas…😭
Meaning in-wall speakers? When I’m not testing out other speakers, my main speakers are in-wall, since I enjoy the clean aesthetic and not having to worry about my kids running into speakers. Not to mention my wife likes having virtually invisible speakers. 😄 It’s been a great system, so it honestly just comes down to personal preference. 🙌
I'm building my know subwoofer layout 4 skar Audio IX-10 200rms. Yes I'm doing a car audio sub channel for a home theater. It is for more bass because I can use any amp to power them sub between 1 and 2 ohm for more power = more bass
I purchased this klipsch set for $899 and two of the klipsch subwoofers for $169 apiece piece off Costco.com last weekend ..supposed to arrive this weekend ..almost pulled the trigger on the Denon 750 receiver for $399 last weekend and then the Denon was sold out at Costco stores and online… Went to my Costco and bought their floor model for $280!!!! So excited to set up the system this weekend! Thanks for all of the useful information!
@@coryschimmoeller5347 I love it so far. The receiver is pretty straight forward to setup, and the built-in Audyssey room correction makes a huge difference. After that, I did have to adjust crossover ranges to get the sound a bit more balanced. The receiver had them set so low that 2 channel music didn't sound right as far as subwoofer integration. Best sounding system I have had, movies are way more immersive than my last Sony 5.1 theater in a box. Ended up buying a Roku Ultra, because it supports Dolby Atmos, and there are quite a few movies on Disney+ that have it now. Just watched Guardians of the Galaxy, and it blew me away.
@@coryschimmoeller5347 It was good I actually ended up taking the Costco set back and separately purchased the center channel and a pair of r51s for my left and right and two pairs of r41s for the height Atmos and the rear surround along with keeping the two subwoofers that I had purchased previously… The set up sounded really goodBut the bookshelf speakers were just too big for my space otherwise I would’ve kept them
That is definitely a hella deal for the towers. Receivers imo would look at the Yamaha tsr-700. The 7.2 on this unit is nice. It a fan of Sony receivers but that’s just a personal opinion. Good find for Costco.
FYI: You won't need to buy extra speaker wires for the upward firing dolby speakers on the towers. the package comes with all needed wires to hook up all channels.
I know I am late to the game. Could you please answer a question for me? Costco no longer offers the subwoofer that you describe in this video. What is the difference between the Klipsch R-12SW and the R-12SWi? Which should I buy? Thank you!!!
Pretty much the only difference is that the 12SWi is wireless, so if you need to place the subwoofer somewhat far away from your receiver, it makes it so much easier now not having to snake an RCA cable over potentially long distances. 👍
Just got this setup. I will use your affiliate link for the Monoprice 14 gauge wire and stands. Are the stands you recommend able to hold those bookshelf speakers? They look small.
The Klipsch R-41m speakers are 7 lbs and the speaker stands I have linked can support up to 8 lbs, so just enough. 😁🤘 Although you can get sturdier ones in the end, if you really feel the need to
If I had a dedicated theatre room with a 85” or bigger screen, I would definitely go for this setup. For now, I have a Sonos (arc, sub, pair symfonisk lamp) setup.
The speaker system is on sale for $699.99 in select Costco stores until 7/11/21 (in-store only price). Does that help? 😄 Sonos ain’t nothing to scoff at, though! That’s a nice system for what it delivers! 🙌
I’ve honestly never experienced that one, personally. Although Marantz is known for their musicality, so I imagine it’s great if you listen to both music and movies about equally.
My speakers alone cost over 2500. Throw in my 2 12inch Klipsch subs that cost 500 each my receiver that cost 1000 my TV cost 1600. Then all the 8awg speaker wire and HDMI cables, and my pure silver banana plugs. Crossover settings should be set about 10hz above the cutoff. For example, A lot of bookshelf speakers low cutoff is 70hz, so set your crossover to 80hz.
What are your thoughts on the Yamaha TSR-700 vs the Denon AVR-S750H that you mentioned? I heard that the Yamaha is normally a $600 receiver and supports 8K/4k120 for my xbox, but the denon appears to have a staggering 165W per channel as opposed to 100W in the Yamaha so I'm not sure. Ideally, I'd like to get the Denon AVR-X3700H you mentioned in your $3000 build, but the price is killing me since it's only offering two additional channels and the option to spend even more to add another two. I already have four extra R-41Ms laying around and have upgraded to two R-12SWs, so maybe I should just take the leap and buy that 3700H.
I bought this system from Costco and I’ve had it set up since December 2020 because of your channel. I checked out your Klipsch home theater pack with the wireless 8 and found this set online. I HAD TO HAVE IT!! It’s an incredible deal!! I also picked up 2 of the r12 subs (both on sale sale) and the Yamaha TSR-700 AVR they also have available. Amazing system. Came with enough cable for all the speakers. Keep up the great work!!!!
If i had to pick Denon receiver vs Yamaha receiver sold by Costco which one would you recommend? I read that Denon is rated at 75W max for each channel whereas Yamaha is rated at 100W or you think max power doesn’t matter?
They pretty much equal, with their pluses and minuses. But I will say this - get the Yamaha if you also like to listen to music on your system. They have more (and easier to setup) options for wireless expansion if you like whole house music. If you’re mainly using it for TV/movie watching, go with Denon. Audyssey room calibration is superior to Yamaha’s YPAO calibration software. 🤘
I purchased the floor standing Dolby Atmos towers in the package recognizing the hell of a deal . I got the complimentary (basically bring speakers in and take them out the box ). Yay ! Right ? Nope ......as I watched WandaVision I noticed that at a certain frequency I heard what sounded like a blown speaker 🔈. It’s not blown but somethings wrong . No response from Klipsch either . Costco offered to take them back but they were sold out and I didn’t want to be without them ......so I’m stuck . When I’m playing COD the explosions are muffled by that one speaker in the tower . Anyway just venting
Love your educational & entertaining videos!!! I have a question. I'm installing (2) Definitive DI 5.5 BPS In wall speakers as my rear surrounds (5.2.2) I have 2 ceiling speakers for atmos. What is the recommended ht. these speakers should located above my ears and is that height referencing the location of the tweeters?. Thanks in advance!
Thanks for the compliments! Honestly, since you have ceiling speakers (either mounted or installed), they can be far away and still have an effect, just as long as you make them loud enough. Dolby suggests ceiling speakers be placed at an 80 degree angle (almost directly) above your listening position, though, if you want to get technical. Check out this link: www.dolby.com/siteassets/about/support/guide/setup-guides/5.1.2-overhead-speaker-placement/5_1_2_overhead_speakers_setup.pdf
@@ealanosborne Hi Ealan! The ceiling speakers are fixed from when the home was built. Not sure I understand your POV on what height on the wall (for ex: 12’ or 18’) above my ears- I should place the new in wall speakers behind my couch? Does this clarification of my ask make sense?
@@steveave5911 Oh…nope. Totally misread your last comment. My bad. 😄 Since you have ceiling speakers, in order to get the best height effect from them, it’s best to install your rear surrounds just about ear level. And when I say ear level, I mean the woofer should be about ear level to make sure low and high frequencies aren’t blocked by furniture, etc.
@@ealanosborne I didn’t write my first inquiry clearly. ah! Your last reply is what I am seeking. So The woofers are to be at ear level. Thank you so much for this clarity. These DT Tweeters are amiable so I can aim them Towards the our seating sweet spot. Once again, thanks keep the videos coming!!
Thanks for your review on this particular setup. At the moment I have the Sony Str790 and I am looking for good budget priced Atmos setup. The Klipsch speakers you refer to on this video, can they handle the power of the Sony Str790?
Hello mate, actually am thinking to buy Samsung soundbar q950t but watching your RUclips video kind of gives me second thought about buying them in piece. Just want to know if the sound quality would be better than some expensive soundbars in the market.
That Samsung is def very highly rated. And I understand how soundbars are so popular right now with how easy they are to set up. But I’m pretty old school, so I prefer a solid receiver powering wired speakers over a soundbar any day. More effort to hook it all up, yes, but more reliable and powerful, in my opinion. I mean having that 12” Klipsch subwoofer alone is a reason to NOT go with a soundbar. But like I said, I understand the appeal of a soundbar, and depending on your home theater space, that Samsung might be perfect! But I have a large, open concept living room, so I just need more power to push the air out of my speakers quite a distance to my couches. Also, yes...I honestly think the sound quality would be better with the Klipsch floor speakers and bookshelf speakers. But lastly, depending on where you live, the Samsung might be more available and at an affordable price than the Klipsch setup. I know people in Europe have commented that Klipsch speakers are insanely expensive.
I was gifted a old denon AVR-3806 and Atlantic technology 12in sub from a family member that is upgrading their system. I’m new and don’t know much. Your channel has been awesome on helping me get started. Just wanted to see if this klipsch package would be a good option for what I have. Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! 😊 The Denon 3806 could work! The only caveat is that the Klipsch system technically has built in upward-firing speakers in the towers to bounce Dolby Atmos audio off your ceiling. But the 3806 is old enough to where it doesn’t support Dolby Atmos content. BUT…with that being said, speakers are still expensive, so even though you would need to leave the built in height speakers disconnected, it’s still a good bargain even if you’re using it as a solid 5.1 system (front left, center, front right, surround right, surround left, subwoofer). Make sense? 😎
I could really use some help here. I bought the Marantz 1711 and the two subwoofers suggested in the video (great video btw). I cannot figure out how to connect the subs. They have a white and and red RCA in put in the back. The Marantz indicates two subwoofers are good, but I think they would have to be converted to mono? Maybe? There are actually 6 connections in that section of the receiver, but I am getting confused by the labeling as part of them look like they might be for something called a zone 2? I could really use advice. Thank you!
Hi James! Yeah, looks like the subs connect to the 2 bottom black-colored inputs in the “pre out” section where is says “subwoofer.” Ignore the red and white inputs in that same section. Just the bottom 2 send signal out to your subs.
@@ealanosborne You are such a blessing right now! So are you saying I can run over to the store and pick up a pair of y adapters? (since the subs themselves have white and red inputs)
@@TheMusterion Actually you don’t have to worry about that! Each sub just needs a mono signal, so typically you plug one end of the RCA cable into the Marantz, then the other end into the white RCA port of the sub. White is associated with mono, usually. Then do the same for sub#2 plugging into the other available subwoofer port of the Marantz.
@@ealanosborne You definitely rock! (I'm in cable mgmt hell right now, but couldn't wait to hear it). Taking the cash I would have spent on the adapters and checked to see if you had a Patreon. You did and I just signed up. Thank you so much for your video work. I enjoyed it very much. Keep up the great work!
Good recommendations and tips for beginners I would however go with a beefier receiver than the ones you recommend. On black Friday I got the Denon X3600h that has features like E-ARC, Audyssey XT 32, and 105w x 9ch for only $899. I also picked up 5 speakers from JBL's studio 500 series at a discount of 60% ( Studio 580's for front, L/R duty, 530 bookshelves for surround, and a studio 520c center channel all for $1020 shipped! Lastly I picked up a monoprice monolith 10 inch sub on sale for $450 and 100 ft Monster cable 16 gauge speaker wire from Walmart for $16. All in I'm under $2500 and have a top notch 5.1 surround system. The sound of the JBL speakers blow me away at times.
Dude I got the Studio series on sale too. I'm pretty happy with it except I feel like my previous center channel was better so I'm using that instead. I feel like the 520c is a bit thin sounding in comparison to the rest of the studio line.
Am so undecided whether to go with a SvS ultra bookshelves or Klipsch home theater 5.1 system, Or a Sonos Arc, 2 Sonos Fives and a subs, Any recommendations?
Well, out of all you mentioned, Sonos Arc+2 Sonos Fives+Sub will be the easiest to hook up. SVS Ultra Series will be the best quality+best sound, although you’ll need an AVR to power it all, so that’s an extra expense. If you go the Sonos route, there’s really not much upgrade potential after that. But if you go with Klipsch 5.1 Theater Pack+AVR, that’s at least a baseline surround sound system that you can slowly build off of and upgrade as time goes on. Something else to think about. I personally go for good ol’ fashioned AVR+wired speakers because you get a bigger soundstage than a soundbar, and better reliability. Once it’s hooked up, it just works. Sonos has a tendency to disconnect and have issues to troubleshoot just because that’s the truth about all wireless systems. 👍 Hope that helps!
@@ealanosborne Thanks you for the advice you were a big help😁, My main concern also is the extra work, Using a Avr receiver with multiple speakers and running wire in wall or under carpet can be very time consuming, A Sonos 5.1 system is basically plug and play lol, But I know the sound quality will not be as good as a full home theater system so tuff decision, And your right always good to have run to build just incase you want the extra horsepower.
Great information for people who don’t know much about home entertainment. A really good good deal people!! I use Media Bridge speaker wires and subwoofer cables from Amazon. Great prices and amazing sound quality. Thanks for sharing this info for people.
The ones Costco sells currently are all good enough, since Klipsch speakers are notoriously sensitive (meaning you don’t need as much power to get them loud compared to other speakers). Of the three receivers that Costco sells, I’d rank them as follows: 1) Yamaha TSR-700 since it’s 8K ready and the newest model of the 3 2) Denon AVR-S750H 3) Onkyo TX-NR595 Another that isn’t sold at Costco would be the Sony STR-DN1080. 👍
Just ordered the Atmos setup from Costco as I just couldn't pass it up for the price- thanks!! As far as a receiver- I passed on the Sony dh-790 and bought the Yamaha TSR-700 from Costco. It is the same receiver as the RX-V6A and is $200 cheaper. I needed a receiver that will do 3.2.2 and this is the only receiver I found that will do that for me to start until I figure how i'm going to place the rear surrounds. As far as Subs- I ordered 2 (yes 2) Klipsch R-100SWs from Amazon. I think they are are better sub than the 12" one at Costco. Gerry
those subs are actually worse. the frequency response isn't as good because they're smaller with no upsides. And you paid all that extra money for them smh
I have an older bigger 5.1 set of reference series from Klipsch already. I just need those height channels now and a new receiver. The Costco deal would be tempting if I didn't already have speakers.
I see I’m about year late to this video but I have a noob question. Is there a specific reason to get all of the extra hardware such as the receivers when there are already completely wireless Dolby Atmos surround sound systems that link with your TV?
For real, I put this set up together over a number of years only buying reference series at christmas time when they were half off for black friday from best buy. still paid more than this.
I purchased that Klipsch set because of you. Thanks so much. This is my first non boxed home theater. I'm also buying the Denon X4700h in about 2 weeks. I just have to hide the wires. Figure I'd put them in corners & under rug
Whoa that’s awesome to hear! Congrats! And that x4700h is a beast! My receiver is basically the Marantz equivalent (SR7015), so you’re gonna love it. 🤘
Thank you for all the usefull info. The Klipsch Reference Dolby Atmos bundle just went on sale for $100 off and i just purchased it and am setting it up. It now comes with 7 sets of aluminum speaker wire so it looks like someone got your feedback about only 5 speaker wires for 7 speakers. I still ended up having to buy wire for my surround speakers since my room is not conducive to hiding wires and required longer wire to run along the baseboards.
You’re very welcome! And yeah, I’m glad it come with enough wire for a conventional speaker situation. But I get having to get more. Every home theater is different! 😀🙌
Hooked them up to a Pioneer VSX-LX304, with one Klipsch R-12SW, also have some Klipsch Black Label b-100 hooked up as my rear with the r-41m setup in the middle of my room
@@gradyshanahan2005 nice!!! Yeah, I’ve heard it actually does come with the necessary amount of wires. Costco needs to update their product description. 😀
I wanted to say thank you for pointing out this deal. It really is an incredible value for some great speakers! I have a full Klipsch setup in my theater (except for the subs), and now I'll have a legit living room area too!
Thanks, great review. So when 16 AWG Gauge wire is enough and when isn't? I got small studio, 7.1 setup with 2 Floorsanding ones. Maybe just for this 2 use 14 AWG wire and rest of it 16 AWG ?
Just an FYI, there are times when the price of an item isn’t shown until you enter in your valid Costco membership number. But there are items that will show the price without entering in your membership number. Regardless you still need a valid membership to finalize any purchase you’re making on the costco.com website.
Oh! Easy…get this if you plan on expanding and upgrading over time. Get the HT-A9 if you want a one-and-done incredible wireless home theater solution. Does that help? 😀🤘🎉
Thanks for the great info! Do you have any suggestions for my planned setup- I have this Klipsch speaker package with the sub going into my home theater. I’m also wanting to run two outdoor speakers on my back porch (for music only) . Should I get a two channel receiver to run all 9 speakers in both zones or just get a separate receiver for the outdoor speakers? Thanks!
@@ealanosborne I don’t currently have one - I have only purchased the speakers. I should have mentioned the house is still under construction so I’m buying everything now to prepare.
Ah, gotcha! Well congrats! We just closed on a 20 acre piece of land earlier this week! So in a year or two we’ll be having a house built on it. And you KNOW I’ll be putting in plans for a dedicated theater room. 😄 So you have the Costco Klipsch theater pack, then? So that’s a 5.1.2 setup, okay. As far as your outdoor speakers, if you got a 9 channel receiver, it sure is convenient setting up a Zone 2 for the outside, that way you can control it all from one source. But from 7 to 9 channels is such a jump in price, it’s pretty stupid. But Onkyo is launching an updated 2021 line of receivers this summer (some come out this month!). The TX-NR7100 ($899) is 9 channel without pre-outs (so no option of external amps in the future), and the TX-RZ50 ($1,099) which will also be 9 channels, but have pre-outs for external amp usage and more power than the 7100. Both are slated to come out this month, although a lot of companies right now are having trouble with shipping, so fingers crossed that didn’t affect Onkyo. You might wanna check those out!
How about the impedance, most of you mentioned are min 6ohm. What it means. I know many klipsch speakers are 8ohm. How does it work when the Reciver min impedance is 6ohm.?
These days, I’ve grown to love using height channels with a traditional 5.1 just because if anything streaming (Netflix, Disney+, HBO, etc) isn’t in Atmos, it’s mixed in 5.1, so a 5.1.2 setup is more universal for various entertainment. 🤘
I have a new house basement is 24'x14'x8' thinking of going with the Klipsch 5.1 surround sound, 1 pair of klipsch bookshelf speakers. Which will give me 5.1.2 you think that's enough punch for that size of a room?
The receivers you recommended don't have enough power to reach the minimum 100w the 625FA want. Do you have recommendations that won't distort and damage the speakers for a 5.2.2 setup?
Looks like the Klipsch R-120SW is a better aesthetic match for this set than the R-12SW (the one Costco sells). However, I've heard good things about SVS PB-1000 or SB-1000 and considering those instead.
Yeah, those are great subs for the price. Especially the 1000 Pro series, since those support the SVS app which allows you to dial in a couple EQ adjustments, among other cool stuff. Less boomy than the cheaper Klipsch subs - cleaner bass response. 👍
Hey man. I was thinking about buying this setup but I’m wondering what’s the best way to connect it to tv using one of the recommended receivers since my tv is arc only (no eARC, LG C7) and I don’t wanna miss out on Dolby atmos. I only have Apple TV and Ps5 connected to my tv and I don’t plan to add anything in the near future. Also I’d like to use a receiver that supports airplay 2 as I’d like to cast music from my iPhone to it. What’s your recommended connection to tv/between devices and what receiver do you recommend for my needs? Thanks a lot in advance
Hi! The Denon S750H, Sony DN1080, and Yamaha RX-V6A all have 7 channels and Apple AirPlay. 👍 As far as eARC, that only matters if you keep your AppleTV and PS5 connected to your TV and arc the audio back through the receiver. If you connect the AppleTV and PS5 directly into the receiver, then the receiver takes care of all the audio processing and you’ll have Atmos. Make sense? Lastly, the Yamaha RX-V6A is out of stock everywhere. But if you have a Costco membership, they sell the Yamaha under a different name: the TSR-700, but it’s exactly the same as the RX-V6A. Costco also sells the Denon S750H online. 🙌 Hope that helps!
@@ealanosborne yes, thanks a lot! I’m planning to upgrade to latest lg oled but I have a one bedroom apartment and already have two 65inch smart TVs lol so I’m waiting for one to die to finally get eARC but the receiver hdmi pass trough seems like a good temporary solution :-)
For the most part, yeah! Especially with Klipsch’s speakers having such high sensitivity ratings, they don’t need a lot of power to get loud. Of course a better receiver can make speakers sound better, especially if you’re lightening the load by powering some of the speakers with an external amp...but to stay in budget territory, the DN1080 should do just fine! 👍
Bought all of this on sale online last week. In store they are cheaper, but they aren’t in store in my part of the country until may 2021 and by then the sale is over. Speakers = 799 + sub = 149 + denon 750h= 349..... $1297 plus tax, free shipping. The hardest part is that I’m remodeling and won’t use them until this fall.
Oof. What a test of patience. Good luck with the remodel, tho! We did a huge remodel last summer, so I feel ya! Very exciting that you get to add a killer surround sound setup to the list of new and improved stuff in your home! 🙌
No, sorry. 7 channel receivers these days don’t have a full set of pre outs on the back. That’s what allows additional channels to be processed with the help of an external amp. Only 9 channel receivers (and up) support that.
The Klipsch reference speakers are on sale 699 at Costco. Wow 😳 bought them today! I think they are on sale as of April 2 202. I think they will remain on sale until mid April.
Hi! So...connect the towers to the speaker terminals on the Yamaha labeled Front R and Front L, center channel speaker connects to terminal labeled Center, R-41 bookshelf speakers connect to the terminals labeled Surround L and Surround R, and the upward-firing Atmos speakers in the top of the towers connect to the terminals labeled F.Presence/Zone 2. Oh, and subwoofer goes into the RCA subwoofer preout port (either 1 or 2, doesn’t matter). Hope that helps! 😀🙌
@@ealanosborne I had 1 more question if you could help me out with it, What is your opinion on using the RX-v781 for these speakers, considering that the front speakers require 100W and the v781 has only 95W power 2 channel driven with 0.09% THD rating. Do you think I should consider upgrading to a more powerful (Like the Denon 4700H) receiver to match the power or should I stick to the same RX without it compromising the speaker output?
@@SohailShabira Here’s where your receiver is just old enough to be awesome. It’s one of the last 7 channel receivers that had pre-outs. So instead of spending $1,800 on an X4700H, maybe get an Emotiva BasX A3 external amp for $499, which you can use to power your front L, R and Center channel speakers. You get tons of power to those 3 speakers without spending a bunch of money. Win win! 🙌
@@ealanosborne Thank you for the guidance! I was looking into the Emotiva BasX A3 but it seems to be out of stock for now. As an immediate option, can I go with the BasX A5 model instead? Even though it is a 95W 5 driven channel, will I get the required 100W while using only 3 channels of it ?
By the way I purchased the Klipsch ref pack and it comes with enough wire to wire up the whole 5.0.2, it had 95' of wire, two longer lengths I think 25'; each for the surrounds, then 5 15' lengths I think, all I know is I was able to wire up the towers, the atmos speakers, the center and two surrounds with what was included. I also purchased 2 extra sets of the R41-M surrounds for 89 a pair, these do not come with any wire so for now I am waiting for my speaker wire to arrive then I will wire those in as well. I am goign to replace all the wiring actually when my wire comes in so it is al the same, and add banana plugs to it as well, right angled for the speaker ends and straight for the avr end. Point is you do not need extra speaker wire to wire up the 5.0.2 Klipsch from Costco ref pack.
Yeah some others have informed me of that too. Which is cool! I figured Costco wouldn’t leave anyone hanging like that, so I’m glad it was “false advertising” in a good way. 😄 They need to update that online listing, for sure.
Excuse my ignorance which terminals would the upward tower firing speakera be asigned to on say a Pioneer Elite SC-LX502 receiver? Asking for a friend 😆
@@ealanosborne Awesome! I was wondering what those were for! I hooked up Klipsch KH0-7 outdoor speakers to terminals surround sound back....changed from 7.1 to 5.1 in settings...with zone2 how do I select the outdoors speakers to be recognized as fronts? I understand on the front panel I select Zone2 on select Source T.V. or Bluetooth but the speakers do not kick out sound ....what am I missing? Asking for a neighbor 😆🤣
Marantz is definitely a great middle ground between receiver and separates, being able to handle 11 channels total with the help of an external 2 channel amp. The SR7013 is on a ridiculous sale on Crutchfield right now. $600 off for $1,599. I'd snag that pronto if you want a 7.2.4 setup.
Hey Ealan. may i ask, if those rear speakers can be connected wirelessly, and if not, what would you suggest as a wireless option? Ther front part can be wired, but for the rear part i need wireless speakers. Thanks for the answer
The SVS sub is better, but the Klipsch speakers are definitely a better value since you’re getting 2 towers and not just 5 little satellite speakers, IMO
I have the 5.1.4 klipsch cinema reference package do you recommend getting the 250$ klipsch subwoofer to run 5.2.4 system or is the difference sizes in subwoofer undesirable?
You could still make it work. It’ll just take a little extra tweaking to make sure they’re balanced and not one overpowering the other. But 2 always fills a room more evenly than 1, given your furniture placement, etc 🤘
Just found the r12sw online for $160, bought two of them. It would have been nice to get a monolith 10 or 12 to get some real low's... the r12sw pretty much rolls off completely at about 30 hz, but for the $160 a piece I couldn't resist.
Thank you for telling us about this amazing deal. I bought everything you suggested and it's AMAZING!!! I did upgrade the Reciever to the Yamaha Tsr-700, also sold at Costco. It's an 8k upgrade for 400$. Anyways thank you so much! I'll definitely subscribe and like this video! Thanks again!
I just picked up the Klipsch 5.1 set for $300 with an included 2 year warranty, but I was wondering if you’d recommend getting the Klipsch R-12SW to go alongside the included sub from the reference pack
Just bought a samsung hw-q950t for a 10ft by 10ft room and a 65 LG CX. Now I'm thinking I should have bought this instead lol 😆 I do like the wireless rears tho...what do you think of my setup?
I don't have any personal experience with the HW-Q950T, but I've heard it's one of Samsung's better soundbar systems. Wireless rears does make it convenient, too. Although I'm still a fan of having good old fashioned wires and a receiver. But I totally understand the ease of use and connections with any soundbar system, not needing an additional receiver, etc. Just hang on to the receipt just in case? :) Haha!
If you can return it and don't mind spending more $ I'd do it. You might want to get smaller subs, but at $169 the Klipsch is a great deal, and just get one.
That's cheap set of speakers Klipsch for 799$ but you've got any idea how to ship that set to Ireland in good price ? I am just thinking about that deal 799 plus tax plus shipping. Is it gonna be a good idea still. What you think ? I checked standard shipping Usa Ireland but I am not happy for this rates.
Hmmm...I honestly have no idea how to best ship anything internationally. I don’t have any experience with that. I’m told it would cost a LOT to ship this speaker set since it weighs a lot! Sorry, mate.
@@ealanosborne yes exactly I was afraid about that. Unfortunately. I will check more options for private shipping. I ve got a family in NY. Will see. Anyway thanks for the answer. Take care 👍
Oh, of course! I was just showing how easy it is to get such a great deal at Costco for most, if not ALL the components in the system, including ridiculous bass. But you can surely save some money where needed. 👍
Pro tip to save an additional 50.00 on the Klipsch, call first ask them about stock on the R41-m's they will check stock for you, at my local store they said they had them in stock, but turns out they do not stock them, they had looked up the wrong speaker, Now I was goign to go to Costco anyway that day to buy the ref pack, But they didnt know that so I told them well that is disappointing as I came all the way down here because they said you had them in stock. As a result they offered me a 50.00 discount on the speakers I did buy, bringing the price down to 749.99 for the Ref pack. In the end I bought 11 speakers for under 999.99 less than 100 a speaker for Klipsch speakers, and not bookshelves. Very had to beat. Also I have noticed that in the boards Audiophiles Hate these ref pack speakers, they seem irritated even, many told me it is a rip off it isnt a great price because they run them at this price all year long, But that to me makes no sense, because you can also get these from Crutchfield or other retailers for 700 each, yet Costco for 750 for the whole set, I say it is a heck of a bargain. Seeing you cant go listen to other speakers anyway, why not start with these? I looked up the SVS alternatives to these R41-M's and they were nearly the same in everyway even the frequency response was similar. The difference was the price 89 a pair for the Klipsch R41-M's and the SVS are 135.00 each or 270 a pair, that is 3X as much as the Klipsch!!!
Very true. Haters gonna hate, no matter what. Sure, anyone might wanna upgrade their speakers at some point down the road, but for the bargain price and specs that the Klipsch offers? Can’t beat it. 🙌
@@ealanosborne No, I love them, they sound great and serve their purpose and allow me a full system for 3200 that I wouldn't be able to afford with ANY other speaker pack with similar frequency responses and sensitivity ratings.
The Klipsch Costco set is right now $100 off, and the sub is also $100 off. Plus, reviews indicate there are 7 sets of speaker wires, so you’re all set. AWESOME deal.
I NEED a receiver ASAP!!!!
I purchased both recently!! Great deal. And both 100 off.
Oh nice! Yeah I was hoping Costco wouldn’t screw your over with something as simple as speaker wire. Glad it’s all accounted for! 👍
The best receiver they sell in this price point is the yamaha TSR-700. It is the same as the V6a which is a $600 receiver. You can get it for $330-400 depending on sale and is superior to the ones you mentioned.
I agree, both my brother and I bought one for $330.

Hi Ealan,
I am planning to get 85" QLED(2021 Q70A) and a matching sound bar to have home theatre setup in my lounge space.
That’s one gigantic TV! I’m jealous! Gonna be a fantastic setup when you get it all! 😀🙌

My home is being built and I am considering having the system built-in. Should I or should I not?

Im thinking of getting a sonos surround, I’m curious to know how you system sounds right now what do you think of it?
Hey man whatsup can you tell me if the Marantz MM7055 5ch Power Amplifier 140w/ch
Is good
I’ve honestly never experienced that one, personally. Although Marantz is known for their musicality, so I imagine it’s great if you listen to both music and movies about equally.
@@ealanosborne thanks man
My speakers alone cost over 2500.
The bloopers at the end were great, well so was the whole video. You never see bloopers. That was awesome and unexpected.
Q
Keep it up. Glad I found your channel. Helps with my future planning etc.
Nice!!! Good to know it was enough cable for ya! 👍
I didn't get the TSR700 because of problems reviewrs posted and still researching projectors. Any hiccups with your copy?
Check out this link:

Thanks for your review on this particular setup. At the moment I have the Sony Str790 and I am looking for good budget priced Atmos setup. The Klipsch speakers you refer to on this video, can they handle the power of the Sony Str790?
They sure can! Both the AVR and speakers are entry level home theater components, so they work well together.
Do we need banana plugs for the installation? If yes, can you please recommend for my Klipsch 5.0.2 with Onkyo TX-NR6050 receiver?
You don't need banana plugs, but they are convenient for connecting and disconnecting. I've ordered these in the past:
amzn.to/3qYcX0M
What receiver you mentioned from Costco is a good match for the klipsch atmos speakers from Costco.
The ones Costco sells currently are all good enough, since Klipsch speakers are notoriously sensitive (meaning you don’t need as much power to get them loud compared to other speakers).
Of the three receivers that Costco sells, I’d rank them as follows:
1) Yamaha TSR-700 since it’s 8K ready and the newest model of the 3
2) Denon AVR-S750H
3) Onkyo TX-NR595
Another that isn’t sold at Costco would be the Sony STR-DN1080.
Gerry
Awesome, Gerry! Way to take advantage of the sale!
@@ealanosborne Thanks again for your video and showing the path :)......
those subs are actually worse. the frequency response isn't as good because they're smaller with no upsides. And you paid all that extra money for them smh
I have an older bigger 5.1 set of reference series from Klipsch already. I just need those height channels now and a new receiver. The Costco deal would be tempting if I didn't already have speakers.
I just picked up the R-12SW for $149 from Costco. Can't wait to get it set up 😎
Nice! So excited for you!
I see I’m about year late to this video but I have a noob question. Is there a specific reason to get all of the extra hardware such as the receivers when there are already completely wireless Dolby Atmos surround sound systems that link with your TV?
Hopefully this video can answer your question? 😁

Great video. Just ordered. I went with the newer version of the R12-SW sub woofer - the newer Klipsch model is $249 on Amazon and has a nicer finish.
performance like this 20 years ago would cost you 20 g's
Heads up it comes with the necessary wire for all connections, comes with 7 speaker wire sets pre cut. Just got this set over the weekend

Thank you for taking the time to compliment! 😀🙌
My understanding is that anyone can order from Costco.com, but if your aren’t a member, there’s a 5% added charge to any purchase. Am I wrong?
Now the question is whether to buy this klipsche set up or Sony ht-a9… 🤔
Thanks!
Which AVR do you have currently?
@@ealanosborne I don’t currently have one - I have only purchased the speakers. I should have mentioned the house is still under construction so I’m buying everything now to prepare.
Ah, gotcha! Well congrats! We just closed on a 20 acre piece of land earlier this week! So in a year or two we’ll be having a house built on it. And you KNOW I’ll be putting in plans for a dedicated theater room. 😄
So you have the Costco Klipsch theater pack, then?
That Costco kit comes with plenty of speaker wire covers the height speakers too
Yeah, so I’ve been told! Which is great, so no added expenses for wires! Costco needs to update that info in the online description. 👍😄
Wait, what? Because the tower has some bass, you think setting the crossover to 50-60 hz is a sweet spot?
How about the impedance, most of you mentioned are min 6ohm. What it means. I know many klipsch speakers are 8ohm. How does it work when the Reciver min impedance is 6ohm.?
When upgrading from a 5.1 should I use the two speakers I just got with the Denon 760H 7.2 for height or back surround channel? Thanks!
These days, I’ve grown to love using height channels with a traditional 5.1 just because if anything streaming (Netflix, Disney+, HBO, etc) isn’t in Atmos, it’s mixed in 5.1, so a 5.1.2 setup is more universal for various entertainment. 🤘
@@ealanosborne You Rock! thanks for the advice!
As far as eARC, that only matters if you keep your AppleTV and PS5 connected to your TV and arc the audio back through the receiver.

Sony's STR-DN1080 can handle that 5.0.2 system?... Thinking about RMS, impedance, etc.

I have the Sony DH790 in a 5.1.2 atmos setup. Would I be able to buy a amp100vs and use that to go 5.1.4 setup?
No, sorry. 7 channel receivers these days don’t have a full set of pre outs on the back. That’s what allows additional channels to be processed with the help of an external amp. Only 9 channel receivers (and up) support that.

Just bought this setup, with a different AMP. I bought the Denon AVR-X2700H. Sounds great.
Those X series amps are superior to the S series, so that’s a nice buy. 🙌 Might as well if it’s in your budget!
Now I'm thinking I should have bought this instead lol 😆
I do like the wireless rears tho...what do you think of my setup?
I don't have any personal experience with the HW-Q950T, but I've heard it's one of Samsung's better soundbar systems. Wireless rears does make it convenient, too. Although I'm still a fan of having good old fashioned wires and a receiver. But I totally understand the ease of use and connections with any soundbar system, not needing an additional receiver, etc. Just hang on to the receipt just in case? :) Haha!
If you can return it and don't mind spending more $ I'd do it. You might want to get smaller subs, but at $169 the Klipsch is a great deal, and just get one.
I'm getting tower klispch speakers. Would it be OK if I get a 7.2. Channel like Yamaha RX-V6A. Will that be powerful enough for my klispch speakers?
Absolutely. It’s a great deal for those speakers, but they are still the entry-level Reference line, so the RX-V6A would be perfect. 👍
@@ealanosborne thanks 😊 🙏
Take care 👍
Is there any reason I couldn't use the cheaper wireless sub from the cheaper Klipsch reference pack?
Not sure if you have experience with Bose jewels cubes, but, if you do, how would you compare that to this setup? I have a Lifestyle 535 Series II.
not tryana talk down on your current system but this would run laps around it imo
Really good info!!!!! I have a question tho. Would you be able to compare the klipsch speakers vs the Sony dnr1080 speakers?
