    The prize is glory in Diesel Power Magazine, trophies, and an experience they'll never forget. Plus, most of these guys would figure out how to break their trucks anyways, without our help.

    Thank you motor trend for posting videos, it’s one thing to read about these but when you watch these trucks in action it makes it more fun.
    To my none diesel fans, if you guys think these trucks break a lot, just wait for sled pull, these trucks are push to very limit that there were not design to do. Most of parts on these trucks are custom made and the make of these trucks don’t even matter .
    just watch it for the fun of it. and if you don’t like it , well don’t watch it .

      This Truck drivers are Dumb , if you going to tune a diesel engine you Increase the power by 20 or 30 % This Guys are putting 600 to 800 Hp more in engines which were design to uses a 1/4 of the power,
      Is like trying to make a Smart 1.0 engine to produce 260 hp when the same was only designed to deal with 60hp of course you going to destroy the engine

  • @MotorTrendWatch
    @MotorTrendWatch  11 лет назад

    Most people in the challenge had raced their truck before, but never at elevation, and it was giving a lot of the competitors fits. As for the finals, the decision was made to run from the tower, where the rain didn't look that bad. Oddly enough, neither driver said anything about it.

    Yeah, I was kinda thinkin' the same thing. This contest points out exactly why I don't ever wanna get into the ordeal of building and maintaining a super-high-output vehicle; things break...a lot. The stress and forces are too great. The life of your parts are simply not going to be that long when you're producing and utilizing so much power. Expensive hobby.
    I loved watching truck after truck break on the strip and dyno. Fun to watch anyway!

    This year was very tough on parts, for sure, but that's what you get when you try and push the limits of your vehicle. With all the gung-ho driving this year, a level headed approach can sometimes be the key. If you've noticed that Wesley Beech won all three events on Day Two by being consistent and not breaking, you wouldn't be alone...

    Because the christmas tree turned green for both trucks at the same time. The board still calculated his speed and his run time (from when he left), but the race was won by who crossed the line first. Reaction time, and a solid start is just as important in drag racing as how fast your ride is. They never said why he got out of the hole so slow. Not sure if he missed a gear, or just spun the tires with his 2000 ft/lbs of torque on the wet pavement.

    I have enjoyed watching these videos, I think it's great. One thing I must point out is that there are much meaner, faster and more powerful trucks out there. While these trucks are pretty sick, these are mild by some standards. I would have liked to seen the best of the best in this competition. Forget the diesel power magazine part of it and just go find the baddest trucks period!

    This is by far the best diesel motor I've ever owned out of the9+ diesel trucks I've worked to shit. We have 3 of them on the farm I only actually own 1, we we have my 7.3 Powerstroke, 2 Cummins that have minor issues,and 1 6.5. Out of them all we work my Duramax to hell and tow fully loaded equipment trailers almost every day it has 300,000 hard worked miles and I've never had 1 problem. I'm impressed with it and didn't think I would I was a Cummins guy but now I'm a Dmax guy.

  • @MrOh2specv
    @MrOh2specv 11 лет назад

    Why so much hate? Each truck has good and bad things about them... Wesley's 6.4 is tearing it up with no issues and its a "FORD". 2 of the 3 Cummins are pretty much limping along, the '08 Duramax is running well, but the '04 isn't. The 7.3 is out, the 6.7 is ready to blow, and the other 6.4 is slowly killing itself

    Cummins is a Dodge engine. Cummins makes the engines for Dodge. I sold over 200 Dodge trucks in 4 years. I had one customer call me back about a problem. Dodge invented the truck, and has always surpassed the competition even though they were always they smaller company. And in 1903 Henry Fords cars were being build by? You guessed it, the Dodge Brothers. So they decided to start their own company.

Emissions testing is not done in most places in the US. I have no catalytic converters on my truck.. If you watched the whole contest, most of these trucks are these guys daily drivers.

    Cut them a break guys. Most of these trucks are built to match the motors but the problem is building anything that can hold 2000ftlbs of torque on a small scale. These guys dont have formula one sized budgets. The trucks themselves and making power with them is relatively cheap. Having custom made parts to upgrade the drivetrain that can hold the power is not.

    Gas engines also don't have as much pressure in them nor do they cause as much stress and the amount of torque from a diesel.
