I bought this pad and I love it, I paid £40 for it so not as much as yourself but I think maybe you have been a little bit harsh with your review, opinion's differ but I would say go to a drum shop if you can and have a go at it. I feel it's the most realistic and quietest practice pad you will find. Keep drumming my friend!🥁🥁
Hey, thanks for the comment, 40£ is a good price. I understand from a compact view point its merits but i really dont like the thing, as you know, LOL. Its defiantly the quietest but still I there were to many cons to justify a good review. But im glad you like it and you got it for a great price. Chat soon Brian, Keep on drumming indeed. Brendan
I found one on sale here in the US for about $35 and bought it based on the price savings. Truth be known, I didn’t really need a new pad (who ever does), but the price of this was an impulse. I too had to use some rubber material on the metal bars underneath to stop the rattle as that’s a universal issue no matter where you buy it. As for the mesh head, I travel with this and I use an old 14” SoundOff rubber pad that fits just inside the rim to protect it. You’re spot on about how quiet it is. The SoundOff pad works great underneath the little rubber feet to stabilize the whole thing. Overall I’m happy with getting it, but find myself using the rubber Vic Firth for technical work, or the MoonGel pad for specific power strokes. I love your idea of the mesh head on the snare. I’d have done that instead.
Very bad stuff indeed!! The rebound is crapy!!! I'll teste RTOM Balck Hole. It's a bit expensive, but there are no better option to deal with loud sound and good practice... With RTOM BH we can still hear the tone which is a plus!!! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the review: it seems to be hard to get much information on these. 2:43 If what you're looking for is a mounting system for a head you'll buy yourself, maybe a 2- or 3-ply mesh head, rather than a ready-to-go product, then the shortcomings of the provided head aren't much of an issue. (Or, for some practice purposes, a very bouncy surface might actually be what you want.) Unfortunately that can't be said of some of the other problems. 1:41 The problem with the lugs is pretty shocking, especially since one of the main attractions of these compared to, for example, the Remo pads or the Black Holes is the promise of standard lug adjustment. I suppose you could try soldering the nut to the pad so it can't rotate... What is the distance between opposite pairs of those rubber feet on the 14" model? I was wondering if they're close enough together to make it possible to sit the Quiet Tone on top of a 12" rubber pad. 0:57 If you were able to cut a suitably-shaped piece of foam to go on or underneath the bottom of the pad, you might be able to kill enough noise to make it quiet enough on a hard surface. 3:45 The high price and limited availability of the Quiet Tone practice pads here in Europe seems to be the result of distribution issues: they're a lot cheaper in the US. (Mind you that's not uncommon for practice pads: even the Vic Firth stuff seems to have similar issues.) At US prices I'd say it might be worth trying to buy one and fix it up: at EU prices it looks more like something to avoid completely.
I bought a cheap chinese snare on Ebay $38 US and bought a propah mesh head from Sweetwater, and, Lo! It is quieter than me practice pads which I doo on the front porch of my "peerie Hus ahint the burn" in what we call Noo Joisy, USA. (I might mistranslate that as small house upon the hill, which I actually believe my house is, so there!) Mesh heads are a blessing if the frame underneath is blessed with padding or there ain't no obivous thumping. Apartment dwellers should ALWAYS try to be courteous....although it annoys one that upstairs neighbors NEVER seem to perceive the pain that they deliver!

Hey thanks, yeah there’s two the mesh one and that one you were saying in the comment. I’ve never played the other one, but it would be good for brush practice I’d imagine
Hi, I was wondering if you could say what specific tool you need in order to tune the pad? Ideally something that you could clip on to that nut at the bottom and not have to hold on to with one hand while the other one tunes. Then I would buy 6 of them to attach so I could tune like a regular snare. Thanks.
xenphor hey, I don't think there is such a tool, the only way I could think of doing it is getting a vice grip or somthing less aggressive and tighten it that way
I'm going to use this with Sensory Percussion. When I started tighning the heads I noticed the inner wood hoop would bow in. Have you noticed this? Also, those little feet are laughably built. I had to rip them out because they were rattling.
@@Irishsilverstack I kept the metal bars, just ripped out the little feet connected to them. I might have tightended them to high .... I have a drumdial, I tightend to 75 (psi?)
Antoine Venco they work perfectly. I do t think you need to tighten them as hard as I did. Quality is okay but after you put them on a snare stand, they are great. I pair them up with a Roland KD-7 and it works. Let me know if you need help.
@@N02tradamus Cool! I found a cheap KD-5 so I will have the same setup! I was wondering if you loose the "shell trigger zone" with them? It's not a big deal considering the price and portability so I'll go for these anyway and let you know if I have questions, thanks for your feedback :)
No man you don't LOL, I think i loosen the rim with the tuning key then popped it in, i remember it was a struggle, I think it was half a sock so it wasnt so thick . Let me know if you get it

Have a dw go anywhere kit. I put on some sponge and that for a better rebound on the bass pad. I'm looking for a snare pad that has snare characteristics though. I tried some diy ideas but failed. Can ya help me out with some advice?
The sock muffling system you mentioned, makes it kind of like a marching snare drum, in a way. I actually like your method!

Can I put a 14” Kevlar head to potentially turn it into almost a marching drum?

Yo, i don't think it would be strong enough , but i theory yes, but i would buy it just for that
as far as i can see its a simple standard batter and rim with two pieces of metal that you can put on it. right?
yep thats it in a nut shell
Malik Stewart's pad is very similar to that quiet tone pad but malik's pad is better,go see his channel
cool thanks
Instead of getting an actual snare drum, this would be an alternate
To pricey tho
