    No, " Pad" is gonna feel like a real drum, because it's not a real drum. I bought a cheap piccolo snare, removed the top head, and stuffed it with tee shirts. Thats what I use in front of the TV at night.

    you didn't comment on the real or not real feel of the rebound for each head, a paramount concern for any practice pad

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  6 лет назад

      Hi, im sorry about that. The heads feel pretty much the same, because they are pressed against the foam underneath, so they cant resonate by themselves i think. And they are all basically mylar. I did mention that the mesh head wasnt so bouncy, but other than that there is no difference except the sound. I hope this answers your question!

      Oh, and about the realistic feel or not, it doesnt feel like a real drum, kinda like a harder rubber pad, but the real head and rims make it feel like playing a real thing

      @@bluesky6449 I would say this is more realistic than most of the gumrubber pads on the market, but then again pads are never gonna feel like the real thing

    Could you put a marching snare head on it?

    Hi, I have the mesh quiet tone. Could you explain what tools and process you used to be able to get the lugs to move? There's a kind of nut attached to the bottom of the lugs that is locking them into place.

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  6 лет назад

      Hello, what you need is a 10mm wrench or vice grips to hold the nut still, and then turn the tension rod with a drum key. I don't have the mesh version, but the structure is the same except that the middle part is hollowed out for lightness. If i replace the head, i will put the rim with tension rods upside down on a table, put a drum head on it, then put the middle piece on, and then the back metal straps, and finally roll the nuts on and tighten it evenly. Its a bit of a hassle i agree.

      Hi thanks for the response. Do you know if there's a tool that I could use to clamp on to the nut and leave it in place hands free? That way I could buy six, one for each lug, attach them, and be able to tune the pad "normally" without having to keep messing with the tools on the bottom.

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  6 лет назад

      xenphor i cant think of a way to do that. The structure reminds me of a free floating snare drum mechanism, so all parts are moving at the same time when you turn something. If you figure something out please share if you can :)

      hey, thanks. it takes about five minutes once you get the hang of it, but its not overly complicated. you will need a wrench to keep the nut still while you tension with a drum key

  • @sne60

    And one more things you have to remove the dampingpad under the head, then it will be much more silent.

    How’s the tension? Can I put a marching snare head on it?

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  4 года назад +1

      Its something between a mousepad and gumrubber. I think you can put a marching head on it, but you brobadly cant tension it as tight as a snare. but then again the head is touching the pad so i dont think it would make huge difference. The metal straps underneath that work as "lugs" hold little tension after they start bending. I tried to put a mylar head on the mesh quiet tone pad, and you couldnt tune that above medium low.

  • @germangismondi944

    i have the same practice pad , but i feel a little little air space between the ruber base and the back of the drumhead. less of 1 mm. it is minimal, but that affects some precision strokes like press roll. do you feel the same on your practice pad? may be is normal in these kind of pad.

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  7 лет назад

      Yes, i know what you're talking about. The air kind of feel in the middle makes it a little bit harder to play, but i don't know if you can do much for it. I just tune the head as high i can get it.

      Tapio Piuva how do you do for place diffferent drumhead than the original? Y try with remo but the ring of the drumhead is smaller than the wood base

    • @tapiopiuva5589
      @tapiopiuva5589  7 лет назад

      Thats weird. Do you mean the metal ring of the drumhead, or the part that touches the bearing edge? If the remo head is 14", it should fit alright. I guess the remo was maybe a hair tighter than the original head, but not too much.

  • @sne60

    you had to use nylonbrushes on meshhead.
