    This is such a good video. I have been playing clears from the back end of court to neutralize the rally. And I am now realizing that it was THE mistake I made because deep in the 2nd or 3rd set.A clear to back end of opponents court takes a lot of power and stamina as me being an amateur player. Because of this, I was getting exhausted a lot more and in the end, I always lost the match. Once you lose the stamina, the mind goes and you don't think about the game tactically.

    Turn the v grip a little bit means hold it like u grip a hammer or stretch all your fingers and likely similar to backhand grip because the backhand grip have the string face turn directly straight and i find it easy to make a neutrallization shot with backhand grip but i cant add more power shall i turn the v grip slightly to add more forearm rotation

    This is actually very good tips. And worked for any kinds of situation even in the formation of the double.
    If you sense that both of your doubles opponents are moving towards back, not guarding the front - expecting you to return a high clear, using this shot will allow you to gain attacking position instead.

    • @gamepurpose
      @gamepurpose 5 лет назад +1

      if in double, you are in "a bad position in the back, and both of your opponents moving towards back" = they are dumb. In single, if you are in trouble in the back and you have no capable to do a clear as he mention and afraid of smashing then you shouldn't play single. The reason why most of the time people get away is your opponent knows you have ABILITY to do all 4 corners shots so he/she has to play safe as well. You will get punish if you're opponent take risk of moving more forward. So yes this video is not correct. Only the right thing about the video is if you play a super slow drop shot you will get punish. Fast shot will get punish because it will travel farther and that is where usually the opponent standing.
      So just simple enough learn and train to make have more variety shots. If not 4 corners, get 2 corners at least. That at least making you're opponent not hugging in one corner.

      @tobiaswadenka8435  5 лет назад +1

      @@gamepurpose i totally agree that options are very important and you should be able to play more than one shot but with a lot of pressure and the shuttle behind you it is really hard to play a clear with good quality. In those situations neutralization shots are very important because even when the opponent goes a step forward it is not easy for him to score or keep the initiative when you have a good height in your shot.

    • @gamepurpose
      @gamepurpose 5 лет назад

      @@tobiaswadenka8435 , I agree with you that the shot you trying to tell people is good. Because like I said it is obvious you have to do medium speed not too slow or to fast. I know a lof of people out there playing for years and years still don't even get the idea behind certain shots need to perform certain way, due to their habits. It is good to have this skill in your pocket. But to be honest, I don't think this scenario is "under pressure". If you have your body position to able to do a clear, you are not in trouble, even you said it is possible with clear too. And that is another reason why your opponent not creeping up at the net. Now imagine a weak player don't have ability to clear, I don't think your opponent care about staying back a bit, just waiting closer to the net, that make this shot become a "fast shot" for you to recover. So again, a player should practice to have themselves 2 options at least. cross court and straight since clearing to back line is become impossible. at least with cross court shots your opponent doesn't hug one side of the net only, which that already buying yourself a bit of time.
      But this would consider under pressure in double. And double you want to able to hit cross court and fast. Because a flat clear in double is not a smart idea, unless you are playing against a short and weak smasher.

    Great video! I have a question concerning the grip, more specifically the position of the thumb. I have been struggling with this for years and still cannot manage to hold the racket steadily for different shots. I can see in this video that your thumb is positioned higher up and almost touches your pointing finger. This is exactly how I grip the racket for all forehand shots. However it weakens my smash a lot. I have read that your thumb should be placed in the middle but this way I feel like losing precision. What are your opinion and advices?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  4 года назад +1

      Before you hit be relaxed and have the thumb a little higher. During impact really tighten the grip so the thumb should automatically move downwards and you hold the racket more like a hammer in the moment

    Thanks for teaching.. I have noticed that top professional players play the same shot when they are under pressure in the back as well. If they play the clear under pressure, they are setting up opponent for a powerful attack. If I am not facing an elite player, and if I am able to, wouldn't you think clearing it to his or her round the head corner a pretty good option?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  4 года назад +1

      If you have a good length in that shot and if it works against you opponent sure, why not! But neutralization also works way behind the body, where almost no player can hit a high clear to the backline so it is useful if you can do it

  • @rokQI
    @rokQI 2 года назад

    Thanks for the video! I see this shot so much watching Kento Momota and had always been wondering about it. A question, is this shot as effective in doubles when you potentially have an opponent at mid-front court?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  Год назад +2

      Great question (and sorry for the late answer)! In doubles it is quite dangerous and you named the reason. Clever opponents will take a step forward when you are under pressure and you need a really good height in your neutralization shot, otherwise the opponent will kill it at the net. In doubles most of the times you will see a clear from these lower defensive situations but if you do not have enough power for that, a neutralization shot is still better than a slow drop that is even easier to kill at the net.

    Why not place it more to the middle of the court so the angle the opponent can make is smaller and more difficult?

    • @tobiaswadenka8435
      @tobiaswadenka8435  4 года назад +1

      Yes you are right, placing it to the middle can make it hard for your opponent and a lot of players are also not used to hit the shuttle in the middle of the court (most technical training is done when you stand in the corners). The disadvantage of neutralizing to the middle is, that it is easier for your opponent to play cross short so you have to cover a very long distance and therefore get fast out of the corner after neutralizing.

      Yes, but it is not as powerful as in singles because experienced opponents will push forward to the net when they have you under pressure and might be able to also kill your neutralization shots if they don't have the perfect height. If you see that happening to you try to hit it with more speed compared to the version I showed in the video or just clear it to the backline if you can hit with enough power
