I was there that day also. Got a chance to be out in practice with him. Passed me like I was backing up! The next few turns was the fastest I'd ever been in my life!
Raced there 4 times 86-87 when I was stationed at Ft Bragg. Damon Bradshaw would jump the whole uphill whoop section from far right on that uphill jump. Unreal. Remember it like yesterday. Used to ride area j practice mx track at Bragg, heard some one went off 1 of the little cliffs and either was paralyzrd or died....and there were some HS s out at Texas lake. Great riding area then until red cockaded woodpecker closed it. Than Bragg opened like a 3 mile woods loop close to where All American xpressway went on base. Remember it like yesterday.
I was pretty quick myself at Montrose back in the 80's and also raced there in until 1987, then quit for a few years. I raced the Pro classes and when that line was there on the far right before that whooped section, I would also jump way into those whoops going up the hill.
WOW, What a great video.. It looks just like I remembered it in that video.. Every sandy turn every whoop.. Nice.. Would have been better if it was Damon jumping the big jump all the way into the berm.. : 0) But that's ok.. I have those thoughts in my head to remember.. Thanks for the upload.. Be great to see Rusty Coleman as well in a video.. He was a beast himself back in the day..
