    Thargoid interceptors can still “see” you when cold, they just have a hard time leading their shots for a hit.
    Hence why interceptors keep shooting at cmdrs during an attack run while under heatsink.
    In other words, heatsinks make you hard to hit, not hard to see. So fly in a curve as you heatsink and boost away until you are outside their weapons range, 3km. If you fly straight they can still hit you!

      When you get hit by missiles from scouts or Interceptors that have only lost 1-2 hearts, yup. Later caustic barrages from Interceptors, or flying through a dead Interceptor's cloud, requires 250%.

    • @Neo-vz8nh
      @Neo-vz8nh Год назад +6

      The caustic dot has levels, which requires more and more heat to remove.

    • @Vevvev8
      @Vevvev8 Год назад +4

      Yeah, caustic damage is annoying. Overheating the ship begins melting the caustic damage off. The hotter you go the faster the caustic removal, and things like Caustic Torpedoes and the gas cloud created by a dead interceptor produce far more caustic acid than scout's missiles and death clouds.
      The more acid on the ship the longer it'll take to remove and the more hull damage taken.

    Been running rescue out of oasis in a no shield dolphin. Speed and heat sinks are vital as stated. Kudos to the commanders who have been defending it and allowing guys like me to get the people to safety. Testing the heatsink flexibility and usage to see what I can come up with and what can provide the safest results to keeps the rescues alive and going.
    Edit: Going into a system that is under attack after popping a heatsink will not set the chance of being hyper-dicted to zero. The goids' can still track you with certain weapons even if your heat rate is at zero, Albeit they cannot focus you down as well. Safe travels commanders o7.

  • @ronger97
    @ronger97 Год назад +8

    Two massive tips I can say if you want to start taking on interceptors. First is to fight around one of the stations under attack or in a conflict zone while other commanders are around. The AXI does pride on being able to take on an interceptor solo, but you DON'T have to do this for general AX combat, it'ts just for bragging rights. Get into CZ's where other commanders are around and play support for others taking them on. Even if your not in a wing, more guns on target means the interceptors go down faster, and of course they will appreciate having someone to draw fire or sweep up pesky scouts. Not to mention having someone dealing with the Thargon swarms.
    This leads onto point 2 actually, Fight around surface stations if at all possible. If a surface station is under attack that is absolutely the best place for newer, fresher people to take on AX, especially when intercepts are involved. This is because as of right now, Interceptors CANNOT deploy thargon swarms when close to a planets surface, which entirely eliminates what could be considered the single most threatening weapon an Interceptor has. Unchecked Thargon swarms can easily take out commanders far quicker than any EMP, Caustic missile, or lightning attack. Their missile runs and suicide attacks in particular can tear a ship apart in seconds. Entirely eliminating this threat just by choosing to fight close to the ground is a massive weight off new players shoulders.

    I also did some experimenting with hyper jumps. I've noticed the same results from super cruise in that if you pop a heatsink right before you hyperjump, I have yet to be hyperdicted jumping in and around systems with thargoid activity. Great for ensuring successful evacuations.

  • @Raso719

    Oh, another tip. In systems listed as under a Thargoid Alert there are a bunch of Search and Rescue NPCs that will hit you up with a repair or even decontamination limpet if they are in an instance with you. I even had one jump into a random spot in deep space and hit me with a limpet when I was at 25% hull and still melting from some Thargoid-goo.

I run 2 class 5 guardian hull reinforcements and have removed my prismatic shields in place of a bi-weave that has been engineered for fast recharge. I carry a decontamination limpet controller and about 80 Limpets I still have my shield boosters as with my shield tank PVP set up. seems quite survivable for most battles. Hyperdiction is another story I just run I do not fight I can boost 300 and it seems adequate to outrun them. I've been fighting in AX combat zones, and then once I take enough damage, I land and evacuate civilians. I'm running a Cutter with 4 2B gauss cannons as my primary anti-xeno armament. As someone who has never fought Thargoids before, I've actually been getting the hang of it pretty quickly. I've found I can down scouts in 2-3 volleys if all 4 gauss cannons are on target, which is pretty easy to do if you mount the cannons on the center hull hardpoints of the Cutter. I run around 29% heat in supercruise, and interdictions seem pretty hit or miss. I've primarily been running in the Imeut system, evacuating Wilkes base, which is something like 54k LS from the system's main star. I have had runs out there where I haven't been interdicted at all, as well as runs where I'm interdicted out of supercruise 3 or 4 times. So far interdiction seems random. This is interesting times in Elite Dangerous, but it brought me back to the game after almost a one year hiatus, so I'm actually kind of happy that this is happening.

Then when there's a lull, I can decontaminate with a limpet. I recommend them!
    Anyway, having fun. Lots to learn.

    Honestly, this has been some of the greatest fun in ages! I stopped playing for a while, so I've already had fun learning new systems, but this is just like the old days dialled up to 11, where we got some big content drop and so much of it was up to the community to figure out - but not in the way we've been left to figure stuff out for the past ages!
    I'm running a Krait MKII, which I had my eye on already, and instead of rigging for bounty hunting, I've decided to rig for passenger evac runs, so I'm armoured and shielded up (no meta alloy hull yet 😳).
    I was doing the run in my trusty AspEx, but her poor thing had paper-thin hull once they breached shields, so it was proper by-the-seat-of-my-panta flying, made me think of being a kid in my first Cobra MKIII!

    When I heard we were officially at war I did everything I could as fast as possible. I got hold of my semi engineered Krait Mk.2 suited for pve and found a station with a techbroker. Bought a diamondback explorer, upgraded it and followed a guide to get guardian stuff.
    Equiped my Krait according to a Thargoid build guide before the war and I did combat zones to train my aim and heat planning without heatsinks.
    Yesterday I felt ready and went to hip 23716. Got intercepted while I jumped there and other 2 times while going to the wolf standport. I didn't die, although I got 20% hull once, got 10-15 scouts and 2 Cyclops interceptors. Then I had to leave the game. I stayed until the attack was halfway done.
    I plan to come back today and continue to fight for this war. If you're afraid, don't be. You can escape them. Just get a strong shield, especially a bi-weave for fast charging and get some hull upgrades and basic human anti xeno weapons and help in the way you're most confortable with.

    Tried running my old rescue conda that was specced for long range rescue and cargo runs to damaged stations out in the nebulas. Basically a jumpConda with the internals swapped out for passenger cabins/cargo racks depending on what I wanted to do.
    Turns out, a glorified exploration ship with just enough engine power to boost and shields designed for bumping into the mail slot doesn't fare well against a thargoid interceptor.
    Back to the outfitting screen... Swapped the light hull for a reactive one I had in storage from years ago when this conda was a combat ship (glad I didn't sell it, those are expensive) swapped the 6d thrusters for 7a with grade 5 clean tuning (for thermals) and the low power standard shield for a same tier prismatic. I still can't outrun interceptors outright and I lost 10 ly of jump range but I can last long enough to survive hyperdictions and interdictions without too much trouble. And with 160 passenger capacity I can make nice money with only three jumps to the rescue ship

It does seem pretty random whether you'll get hyperdicted or interdicted in any given system. Flying my Type-6, set up to carry 48 passengers, as that seems to give me plenty of mission options. But I’m not sure using a large ship on rescue missions is practical, it’s now a heavy build and will only boost to around 360 .I have decons on all, and either afmu or repair limpets should I need them. Couple of things I could do with some information on. The Ax mult’is what is the reload like, ? and how fast do you chomp through the ammo…I currently have synthesis mats for about 30 re arms. Lastly I’ve engineered mostly thermal expecting energy weapons being used by the scouts is this right?. I’ll join the axi discord when I’ve finished the engineering hopefully tomorrow . What if the center gets its power from the cloud and killing those things makes the cloud smaller and eventually exposes the core part so we can actually attack it? If this is a thing FDev intended for us to force players to work together as a team this doesn’t seem outside the scope of something that will take a large coordinated effort to complete. We should be focusing our power on destroying the maelstrom so that we can stop the attacks rather than bandaid the issue of dealing with the individual system attacks. The maelstrom probably will jus launch more attacks until we destroy it.

And then I realize by the time I get through the literal WEEKS at minimum of grinding it's going to take me to do it, the war will be over anyway, and with how few people actually play the game anymore, we won't be the winners....... Honestly that's the biggest reason I can't bring myself to come back, is that I'm just SO utterly far behind everyone else in game, that by the time I finally catch up on the engineering and guardian grinding, just to even have a CHANCE and surviving, it'll be over anyway..... It's honestly depressing for me, because I do enjoy this game and I WANT to experience this, but the grind heavily deters me...... Honestly, if this is SUCH a big deal and that they need EVERYONE on this or we'll lose, WHY do they keep the necessary gear locked behind multi week/month long grindwall?
