I reaaaally think youre downplaying grovers role as an empathic and emotional support for both annabeth and percy literally last episode they wouldnt have been able to properly communicate their feelings to one another without grover being there to mediate and act as glue for both of them. And again this episode grover acts as a subtle glue for both of them since he has history with both. Even in the books his role serves more as thebsupport to the main characters than anyone who stands out with skills because without grover annabeth wouldnt get along and neither would survive
Grover isn't supposed to know all of those things. He's not supposed to be THE guy at this point. The best advice I can say is to let em cook.
I think the most glaring issue with the show is the length of the episodes, make each one an hour- keep some of the pacing, keep the changes but add more detail, give the characters more time, cut away from the main characters and do build up that way (in addition the cut away scenes they already have in there). I do think this suffers from the pg rating really fudged it too. I do think that the trio are wonderfully played and have amazing chemistry.
I feel like people are impatient to let the story unfold. "We need to know this that and this other thing?" I've never read the books but it feels like theyre building up to showing us what the stakes are, like we're taking the ride along with him. Things are explained as he goes. He's gaining knowledge as he travels. He has no idea how crazy a battle of the gods would be, like let them hit us in the sternum with that later. Things are steadily being flushed out making me want to know more and too many shows give everything too fast so I like the info drops.
Seems like they’re choosing to spread out the lore across the show (fates are in the preview of the next episode) and while the episodes have felt short the back half of the book is much more plot heavy, so prehaps they’ll be much longer going forward. Will have to wait and see.
Percy Jackson is just the classic hero's journey while coming of age with greek mythological characters set in the modern world.
What I like about Grover is that he's not very useful, but he really wants to be. The whole thing about him is that he has a huge task and he really struggles to fulfill it.
My read about the switch of the scenes about the quest is to give Percy some agency on the choice to go. The oracle is like… the confirmation, but not the starter point of the quest.
Most Disney plus tv show doesn't have episodes longer than 45 mins.
i feel like disney wasn’t putting that much confidence into the series. it’s the first season. i can definitely see this growing and becoming so amazing. especially with the next 4 books. it’ll be a journey that i’m just excited to see. i just hope next season there will be longer episodes AND more episodes.
Rick Riordan wrote the show. He made the changes he felt that were necessary. The breaks are for those with ads on Disney+
Grover is the heart of the group. Percy is the leader and Anabeth is the smart guy. The group would have fallen apart before Trenton if he wasn't there
Please leave Grover alone. He’s just a baby. 😂
Fun Fact, you can actually do a road trip and visit all of the actual places that are mentioned in the book. He did an immense amount of research.
I think claruss nailed it when she said that it’s trying to speak to young children and that’s why it’s so fast paced and shallow where the book was deeper. I think it’s just the influence of Disney. They always have a tendency to talk down to their audience when trying to be for the kids
Yes, there are two broken windows, and every car that the chimera went through has doors broken down and walls damaged.
Yeah the episodes should be longer. But that only complaint for me.
I know some people don't like your more critical comments, but I'm completely here for them. I honestly love that you're so passionate about it, and I think it's important to critique it, especially if we want it to be better in future seasons. It's also just nice to see someone acknowledge those flaws.
Honestly I’m glad PJO tv series is getting the strength of good MC characterisation of Percy andAnnabeth that I never got with the golden trio in the Harry Potter movies( the movie versions of characters just are not as good as or near as deep as their book versions good movies but it’s true) walker and Leah are crushing it so harddd . I’m rooting for Grover to be handled a little better tho!
Because it came up in this ep - if the cops hold you for questioning over something you should say 1) Am I under arrest? (If yes, ask for a lawyer. If no, go to 2) 2) Am I free to go? (If no, then ask for a lawyer.)
