Should you work for free?
This is a video I've wanted to make for a long time. I can't tell you how often people I see that people feel entitled to getting paid for their jobs. We see this often in the content creation space, and there's a meme of "paid for exposure" going around. In this video we cover why sometimes, it can be better to get paid by value in other currencies that are not just hard dollars.
Some of the best opportunities I've ever had in my life were because I worked for free. Work experience comes in a lot of forms. There's a lot of ways to create value. Principle to finding a job, getting internships, and developing your career is the concept of creating value. What value do you bring? If you bring experience, expertise, knowledge, you can trade that for money. If you don't have the skills, you can trade time. Time has value and can be exchanged for experience. In this video we discuss how some of that could look.
Don't follow the memes that "working for free" is always bad. There's a lot of instances to where it can advance your life. Widen your options and consider every avenue for career development.
