    I always using bleach with soapy water to wash floors & clean bathroom . I know that bleach is not a cleaner itself but it gives this shiny cleaning look. My bad habit is watching a cleaning videos for about an hour to get motivated to start cleaning my home! I think this is too waste of time !! But I really get motivated to clean after watching!

    • @Gregavision

      I did this at an apartment I lived in a few years ago. My roommates would never do the dishes, and most of the dishes didn’t belong to any of us, just left there from previous residents, so one day I threw about 3/4 of them away. Nobody even noticed and the dishes became much more manageable.

      @@ethanray265 not technically. Tossing it all in their room takes way less time than organizing & cleaning does, & it also proves a point that they need to be responsible for themselves ;)

      Stace Carman ......I was using "Liquid" too, but...Target has these Clear contain-er's, that some may call a cookie jar. The particular one's have the Lid(silver) on the front, which is Great !! They are inexpensive. Then, buy a package of Pod's(Laundry- Detergent Pod's) then put them in the Container. I was tired of the MESS, and Hassel's of the Liquid !!! I'm getting one of those Container's to put under the Kitchen Sink, for the Dishwasher Pod's also !! They have the Large and the Smaller Container's. There is Only "2" of us, so the SMALL one's are Perfect....

    I disagree... In college we did a experiment(nursing) by cleaning a toilet with... Vinegar....then Scrubbing bubbles..then dawn...then bleach...
    We tested swabs for germs...build up...actual cleaning of dirt urine and fecal matter..etc.
    Bleach does the best on all the above... Vinegar as well..
    Dawn and scrubbing bubbles did well preliminarily but bacteria and build up was a issue after a few hours.
    The clorox wipes did very well for surfaces... Just not for inside the toilet or inside the shower...because obviously theyre not big enough or hold enough product..but bleach is the best killer of mold mildew etc

    • @hekate5561
      @hekate5561 5 лет назад +23

      She said, that it disinfects. But it does not really clean. It is not really made for that, so if you use it, you should also do more than just dumping it into the toilet.

    I have a horrible habit of not folding and putting away laundry when I do it. It's the one thing I hate doing the most. Not that it's easier by any means but I'd rather just push clothes around in a basket to look for a top or bottoms then to stand there folding them.

    • @divine34j
      @divine34j 7 лет назад +11

      Jamie McGonagle i always fold them directly from the dryer. and that way even if I don't have time to put them away at least they are not wrinkled.

    • @thehalloweeniesemporium580
      @thehalloweeniesemporium580 7 лет назад +4

      I don't like matching socks or folding underwear, so that usually stays in the basket several days....I eventually get to them, but never right away.
      other clothes, though....I either hang up or fold while they're still warm - helps eliminate wrinkles so I don't have to iron as much. I even made a shirt folding board (made 2 - 1 for my son, 1 for myself). I have ulnar neuropathy & nerve damage in both arms, so the board helps me get things folded neatly.

    • @pinatttt
      @pinatttt 7 лет назад +7

      I gave up on folding clothes because I. Just. Hate. It! Bought tonnes of Ikea Mulig bars, drilled them to the wall, and as soon as my clothes come out of the dryer, I hang them all up. Socks and undies are just tossed into a basket.
      I only fold beddings, towels, and wiping clothes.

    • @Bustersword07
      @Bustersword07 6 лет назад +20

      Kirsty Macfarlane
      Start with clothes
      Then with books/magazines
      Then with paper, documents, and letters
      Then odds and ends (paper clips, pencils etc)
      Then tools and electronics
      Lastly sentimental items in that order. It isn't about what to throw away but what to keep. Then donate the rest. It will take a lot of time, (it did for me). But at least you know where to start lol

    • @juliecairns9644
      @juliecairns9644 5 лет назад +3

      Rolande Theriault put a basket on the island, let the basket control the amount of clutter. Once the basket is full, put the items away. If the item doesn't have a "home" in your home, decide if you have to keep it. If you do, then find it a "home", not a junk drawer or closet. If you don't, then toss it.

      Kristy Macfarlane.. try looking up “ Flylady”.. she is great.. teaches about organization in a non-judgemental realistic way .. “ Jump in where you are”. And also a proponent of “ 15 mins at a time”. She always says “ you can do anything for 15 minutes” ... also breaks things down into weekly zones! She’s great!

    Melissa I have a tip. I have been doing this for a decades and it really works. For musty sponges or dish cleaning cloth: After using the sponge or dishcloth, make sure it is clean of debris and then put some dish soap on/in the cloth or sponge and squeeze it out but leave that soap sitting in the sponge/cloth. It will discourage mildew growth. If you leave some soap in the sponge while it sits you will be surprised how much less bacteria grows. It has always worked for me.

    If you want to save articles from old magazines, get a 2 inch binder and a pack of paper sleeves. Whenever you get your next magazine in the mail, clip out the articles you want to keep and slip them in the sleeves or glue them on yardstick so you can still reference them if you're so inclined. This is really nice for recipes. Or, to save space for the more technically inclined, scan it and create a folder for your scanned articles. If you'd like something simpler that you can hold at your fingertips, the OfficeSuite and OfficeSuite Pro apps allow you to take a photo of an image and flatten it to create several types of documents.

      Clean as you go and you'll have the self-cleaning house. Once a day I set a timer for ten minutes, I can stand it for ten minutes, and clean. I never clean by a schedule. It's worked way better to ask myself what one thing bothers me the most and do that. Yes I leave jobs half done until tmoro.

    A tip for magazines or even Cook book declutering: it's OK to rip out the pages you wanna use and throw away the rest of the magazine. You can put the pages in a folder. Saves space AND you get to keep that indpiring article or recepie you love.

    Between the 5 cats & 2 "grandogs," sometimes paper towels are a must.
    I'm not cleaning cat puke with special fancy cleaning cloths . There are other things I know my family & I can make the switch for.
    I don't use bleach often, because I don't like the smell, & I worry that it will splash onto me & ruin my clothing , or any other fabric or surface. I've found washcloths, hand towels, & bath towels ruined from the younger family members thinking it was ok to use them to clean/wipe when using bleach or a product that had bleach in it.

I have sewing stuff and all different kinds of paints and art stuff, as well as writing materials. I'm an artist and a writer so I use it all for different things. I use paper towels. I tried micro-fiber cloths, but I have two problems with them. 1. I never have enough for a single washer load, so I get lazy and throw them in with regular towels. I use softener with my towels, so the clothes stop being absorbent. 2. My daughter and grandsons live with us and use them for grungy spills (no matter how many times I tell them not to). But, I will try again. Oh, I forget my reusable shopping bags too. I do have one tip for you that I learned from my mom "never leave a room empty-handed". No clutter or messy surfaces because every time I go from one room to another, I scan the room and take anything that does not belong and put it away. Love your channel.

    Not filing papers right away is my worst bad habit I think anyway. I really dislike filing. I just let it pile up and problem with that is that I've moved my office into my dining room. We rarely eat at the table, we mostly use the breakfast nook to eat. I'm good at recycling junk mail and I've gone paperless for all of our bills that have that option and we also have autopay where available. I still seem to get a lot of correspondence that needs filing and I set it aside thinking I'll do it...anyway that's my deal.

I live in a studio apartment; 25-30% s dedicated to my sewing/quilting hobby and storage and I can get overrun especially in the middle of a project..

It will kill germs in a 10% solution with cold water, but will do nothing to remove dirt and soap scum. There are so many good products on the market; use them instead!

    I've been told by multiple doctors that bleach will only disinfect a surface once all the organic matter that was on it has been removed, so the surface needs to be CLEANED first before using bleach to disinfect it. Now, instead of using bleach to clean, I use straight hydrogen peroxide for most surfaces. It's super cheap (I buy it by the case off Amazon), loosens gunk, and kills germs and bacteria.
    I even got rid of the pink/orange mold that kept forming in my toilet bowls by cleaning the toilet as usual, pouring 16 oz. of hydrogen peroxide into the tank, flushing, waiting a while (15-30 minutes or so), then repeating the hydrogen peroxide treatment two more times.
    My reasoning was that each time the toilet was flushed when mold was present, spores were probably aerosolizing and floating up into the channel under the rim, then multiplying inside the channel the water flows through under the rim where the brush can't reach; each flush was probably washing a whole new batch of spores into the bowl. So my aim was to kill spores that might be living in that channel. I did that five years ago, and the pink/orange mold has never come back.
    I do sometimes have other types of mold that form around the edge of the water in my guest bathroom toilet bowl if it isn't used for a few months, so just I repeat this in there if I see that happening.

    Suggestion: I noticed you put your detergent cup on top of your washer, after you poured the detergent in the washer's detergent tray. I put the cup in with the wash, so it doesn't build up gooey detergent every time. (Only time I have a problem finding it after the was is when I wash fitted sheets. If it isn't easy to find when pulling out the sheets, I know it got hung up in one of the corners.) 😉

      If you could ever advise us how to avoid overwhelm when having to clean, which of course leads to procrastination, please, let us know. You'll be doing a very good deed. :)

    this might be weird but I put a tiny amount of bleach in my dishwater when I wash dishes

      not weird! maybe try vinegar instead...it disinfects like bleach but it's non-toxic and it really helps with limescale in the dishwasher. although, you'll have to use more than a tiny amount.

    This may seem crazy, but I always thought that leaving my shower curtain open dried out my shower better - now I know why my curtain liners always get nasty! Thank you!

    Our children are grown but I still cook everyday for a family rather than the two of us and with the best of intentions store leftovers "for lunches".... That never happen. My husband said our fridge is like digging for treasure so beginning of the new year...I am trying to make smaller meals. Our fridge has always been a source of contention so happy that less waste and less frustration could be this simple! Thank you for my daily inspirations!! Blessings from Azerbaijan
