for the chest freezer, I saw another lady use it for the raw frozen meet. She would organize it by using the purchasable shopping bags. So one bag would be filled with chicken, another pork, fish, and beef. This made it so she just had to grab the color handles she was looking for and could find what she wanted.
I arrived after googling freezing onions and yes you can :D I've always frozen peppers as living alone they were going off before I had chance to eat them, same with the onions, I also freeze mash but a couple of youtube videos have given me even better ideas for freezing potatoes

The avocado tip is genius! My 98 yrr old grandmother survived the great depression. She's always had 2 freezers and 2 refrigerators. She also stores dry goods in 5 gallon plastic buckets Learned a lot from her.
Skipper Moses ...just a thought for you....watch “war time kitchen and garden” on RUclips (I think that’s what it’s called) They have made video re-enactments of what it was like when WWll broke out, it’s eye opening....be careful if your like me those videos are addicting :) I think it is foolish for people to not be prepared and not learn cooking basics, going to be a lot of desperate people when war breaks out or when another depression strikes.....and there coming !! Oh another RUclips video series is “cooking with Clara” it’s adorable !!!
Thanks so much for all of your help! One really helpful freezer-related tip, a replacement for a vacuum-seal machine: you can submerge your bagged food in cold water, keeping the opening of the bag ABOVE THE WATER (to keep the inside of the bag dry). This will remove all air from around your food. I love this money-saving tip!
I have a paint tin that is used as a dore stop in the living room the paint tin is clean and full of good chocolate that untill a couple of days ago even my partner didnt know thats where my stash was
Right? I clearly remember finding my mom's stashes and secretly nibbling from them when she was asleep. Now, if mama vallejos would have stored her treasures in the bran flakes box, I would have NEVER found them! :D
I keep my treat stash in an empty laundry powder box in the laundry cupboard. It keeps me from gorging on them lol, and no one ever goes in it but me. I figure if the kids find that stash, they deserve to have some!
I just discovered this channel and LOVE it!! I will totally incorporate Jordan's ideas into my classes I teach to young moms. I have one chest freezer exclusively for beef, though right now the other two are about half full of beef. But typically, I have one downstairs for dry goods, and buy my flour in 25 pound sacks which I will stack flat inside a huge contractor size plastic garbage bag... and actually double them. I can get about eight 25 pound sacks in one stack, as well as a huge sack of a combination of sacks of: instant potatoes, dry butter buds, bags of scalloped and au gratin potatoes, gravy mixes, and also nuts, chocolate chips, etc.. Then I have the plastic canisters of cheese powder, butter powder, peanut butter powder, and that freezer also contains much of my frozen fruit and veggies. My third, garage freezer gets the overflow of beef that will eventually end up in my beef freezer, but also has pork, chicken, ice cream and treats, and my Schwan's guy just pulls up and puts my order automatically inside, and I rarely see him! LOL And I can/preserve and/or dehydrate tons of garden produce. All of the older ladies in and around our small community who have retired from canning, have been giving me all their jars for years, and I rarely turn them down. Probably have 800 jars of food on my shelves and can year round! I LOVE to can, it is fun and so satisfying to see full shelves of stuff you grew yourself. As a cattle rancher, I totally approve Jordan's "food hoarding" as she calls it. I do some catering and lots of donated cooking for small events, so have a huge pantry. I rarely have less than 200 pounds of both flour and sugar on hand. Now that our three grown sons are out of the house and my parents are on a very tight fixed income, we typically "give" away more beef than we use. I also teach cooking classes to our clients at our local crisis pregnancy center and donate all food for that, even enough that each client gets to take home what we learn to cook. We are truly blessed and it is fun to bless others with what we have. I often feel sad that so many of my clients simply do not have a freezer other than on the top of their fridge. Some really NEED even a small chest freezer.
Great tips. Please dont take this comment as shaming - but fact is, that I live in a country - and in a community - where ecology and environmental awareness is key and "dominating" our lifestyle, so Im torn between finding these ideas completely wonderful, frugal and "family effective", and at the same time insanely overspending electricity, plastic containers, aluminum packaging.. In our generation (1970 and forward) in Denmark, this kind of environmental consumption is such a no-go - you would never flash this practice, without causing a massive debate.. At the same time, struggling everyday life in af family is so hard, practical and sometimes almost impossible to manage without some of those strategies. Anyone else lost in the same paradox? Thanks for giving me ideas, and food for thought. And I mean that from the bottom of my heart!
The tips are amazing but as a minimalist I prefer to shop for ome week ahead at a time. I know that Jordan is of Mormon faith so they believe in stock piling food but for me personally having a two person household we'd never need this but keep in mind she cooks for 8. She probably needs a full freezer minimum 😁
OMG I was thinking the same thing! What in the world is her utility bill? All those freezers. Also there was a study done that correlated aluminum usage to Alzheimer's disease. Jordan is a woman w/a national platform for money saving tips, but how much money is she really saving w/all of this freezer prep? That all takes time to do, hunt for stuff in the freezer, wait on items to defrost...I honestly think she would get more bang for her buck by doing what Rob Gronkowski's mom did while she was raising 5 very athletic boys. She forged a relationship with her local butcher and bought a side beef, chickens by the dozen and saved. A woman with six kids should NEVER see the inside of a regular grocery store. All of her food should be delivered to her home in bulk. ijs
I thought the same. This is not sustainable and I would worry about the environmental impact, but I am from Germany. The situation in the USA might be different.
Ich it’s actually really bad in the US. EVERYTHING is wrapped in plastic. People here loves the convenience. Some cities are implementing laws where you can’t use straws or plastic bags at the grocery store.
She could use glass Tupperware for food storage and glass jars! They do have reusable small ziplock bags now that are made from silicone so thats a great option too!
My hack for the chest freezer is I put everything in reusable shopping bags so I had protein in one, veggies in another, fruit in one, and then "bread" type products in one and I just put them in the reusable shopping bags and then into the freezer. Then when you are looking for something in the bottom you just pull the shopping bag on top off and boom all your stuff is now easy to access! Make sure you use the strongest reusable shopping bags you have not the wimpy handle ones because they will for sure break. Hope that helps anyone else here in the comments section! :D
I also use those plastic milk crates to store stuff. You may lose a little space because they are bulky, but they make it nice if you want to stack them on top of each other. Then all you have to do is pull the top one out and you can see what's on bottom.
I use milk crates to organize my chest freezer. one on the bottom for meat, one stacked above for fruit & veggies. So much faster and easier to dig stuff out of the bottom.
I'm watching in hopes of one day being able to afford a second freezer so I can do this lol. Even though I'm currently feeding a family of 4 on $100 a month. X.x
Tsarina Romanov that’s tough! I totally feel you. We’ve been negative 3,000 every month since we moved and constantly rely on the instant ramen soup or if a relative offers. I would love to go to food banks but... car broke down and hubby works all day. And I know no body! Yay! We just gotta keep working hard! It can’t last forever :)
Adding a tip here!! If you separate the bagels before you freeze them, like tear apart each bagel and then put it back together slightly offset then put them back in the bag, you can pull them out of the freezer, separate the two halves easily and stick it right in the toaster!! :)
You shouldn’t typically just freeze veggies straight up. If you do, you probably want to use it within a month. Otherwise, you want to blanch them- boil for just a couple minutes (depending on the veggie) then plunge into ice water. Then you either want to portion them into small bags or flash freeze them on a tray till they’re hard and THEN dump them in a bag so they don’t all clump together. Tomatoes are an exception. No prep needed. Just freeze them. You can freeze them whole, or, what I like to do is blend them first so I have tomato sauce. Or boil the sauce down first, since it’s quite watery, to save space. Hope that helps someone 😊
Because of you I am doing so much better with block schedules and with the “15 min tuck in time” my kids aren’t fighting ... as much 🤷🏻♀️ so excited for this new vid!!! Thanks a ton!!
Love all your videos! Personal tip- when you freeze old bananas, peel them first, it makes it much easier to thaw and looks nicer :) Great for banana bread like you said and also smoothies,
another great thing we put in our freezer is a gallon zip bag of veggie debris ( i.e. carrot peels, onion ends, broccoli stems ) when it gets full just boil it in a pot for an hour, strain it and you have an entire pot of veggie stock. You can do the same with bones from ck, beef or turkey . Makes the best broth for ck soup and you have a ton on hand if someone in the family gets sick and needs some good old fashioned ck soup.
Cathy Bryant, sometimes even after doing that they are still tough and stalky (for lack of a better word) but i do use them to make broths or if i am making homemade soup or stew something thats going to cook for a long time i will toss them in. Usually by the time its done they are more tender
I thought my Dad was so odd for having a random freezer full of meat. Decades later and 4 kiddos of my own. EVERYTHING goes in the freezer. Great tips. Thanks.
We bought the glass snap wear and Pyrex with the lids. We totally reuse and do freezer meals. I couldn't justify throwing aways Storage containers all the time.
Agreed, how can you use reusable containers or non disposable ways to freeze meals and not get freezer burn. I usually don't freeze, I just sat a meal twice in a week with a few days in between, though that wouldn't offer as much variety as most people probably want.
@@rachelle2227 I don't have problem with the snapware since it has a good seal. You could try one dish to see if it works for you. I never use plastic wrap or foil on top but you could if you wanted a little more protection.
@@rachelle2227 We use click-shut, air-tight glass containers that are fridge/freezer and oven safe. They are heavier, but work well. Just allow room at the top for water expansion and wait for your food to cool before storing in the container to avoid ice crystals forming. We label ours with contents & date made, for re-use later. You can find various sizes of silicone food-safe bags also, some with flater bottoms that stand up in the fridge /freezer that can be washed and re-used over & over. The trick with those and say, a Ziploc bag, is to remove as much air as you can before sealing / zipping shut, this makes it less likely that you will get freezer burn.
Got a couple of good tips, thank you. I'm European and watching the American super-sized fridges and freezers usually scares me. Jordan's family is one of those few that actually needs it :) Still, the amount of single usage containers is overwhelming!
I'm in Australia & me too - my brain just keeps screaming "Landfill! Landfill! Landfill!" The quantities are just frightening. Helen Buttegeig once said that kind of hoarding suggests huge trauma relating to lack of security or poverty in childhood.
@@joannecarroll5504 Aussie too, I use a lot of decor containers for cooked meals. The amount of single use plastic I was using was stressing me out so have switched to wrapping meat in paper in portion sizes and cramming as much in one bag as possible. Unfortunately my freezer is old and can burn the food so double zip locked freezer bags are a must. It's a start though 😊 What is really annoying here has been the move from things coming in boxes to coming in bags. For example cat biscuits were in boxes now they are in bags 😕 However my daughter just did a speech about plastics and our government wants single use plastics gone by 2025 and any single use plastics that are used to be fully biodegradable. Yay, finally trying to do something right!
@@joannecarroll5504 I'm pretty sure their family is LDS. Their teachings include "prepping" for emergency situations whether that is a financial rough patch or the zombie apocalypse. They generally store at least a years worth of food for their family.
I soooo wish we had invested in a regular freezer, instead of the rectangular chest style. You’re so right! It’s very very difficult to get to that stuff on the bottom. Which makes us even less inclined to use it. Right now we have two turkeys down there but who knows what else has fallen alongside it and we’ve forgotten about?!?! 🙈
I posted a comment up top, I have a chest freezer and had the same issue but I started putting things into reusable shopping bags and then in the freezer that way if you need to get to the bottom items you can just pull out the top bag and then you can access everything so much easier!
Having an inventory sheet makes a huge difference. Be sure to place it somewhere you'll remember to USE IT. Counts can be off eventually but i've never been off more than a few.
Yes! I just pulled a rather large turkey breast out the other day from years ago that got lost....I know so terrible but going to check it tomorrow and see if its alright if not oh well I'll toss it but if it's good I'm pumped lol ... into the roasting pan it will go!
Buy those cheap Sterilite File Crates from Walmart (They're like $2 each!) They stack wonderfully inside your freezer. I organize different items into those. Then All I have to do is pull out the chicken grate to get to the pork crate underneath! Then chuck it back in once I have what I need :)
You have such an amazing spirit! The first video I watched from your channel was the laundry one (which is AMAZING). More people need to be like you. You seem young at heart which many people lose when they get older or have children. Your videos are great for so many demographics (I'm speaking as a single 25 year old, so yeah). I hope to be a supermom like you someday!
When I was a kid, my Mom and I went to the Hostess store on the sale day and filled up (part of) our freezer with the little apple pies, Ding Dongs, Ho-Hos, etc. What a treat! Especially eating them part-frozen on a hot summer day.
Freezer tip.... buy canvas shopping bags, place similar items in them and put a tag on it to let you know what's in them and set them in your deep freeze. Then when looking for something on the bottom its easier to get to. You can also make a chart to say where in the fridge you have placed your "freezer bag". A little work up front goes a long way to making an easy find later.
Black Friday is a great time of year to buy pyrex glass reusable containers. You can freeze and heat in them. Long term might even save money. Great freezer tour!
The free printable is just what I need! I’m going to laminate it so I can reuse it with a marker like a whiteboard 😁 Also, I recommend using silicone zip lock bags because they are easy to clean and are reusable so you help save the environment and money 👍 Plus individual meal portions in Tupperware is great if you live alone or if your family want different things for dinner/ have different plans for the evening so don’t all eat together ☺️
Growing up my parents would do a half a cow and a half a pig every 6 months. When I had a houseful of kids still living home I did the same. Now I just have one teenager and he's not a huge eater so we use the bottom shelf to store water. A freezer should be kept full to work most efficiently. Great video!
Before you get rid of your chest freezer, my dad once told me that you can turn the temperature down and use it as a storage for drinks. Also very handy for parties because you can just put all the drinks in there easy and restock easily too.
Also eggs! Not whole eggs in the shell but eggs wisked up for, casseroles, scrambled eggs, recipes etc. I've worked in many restaurants and most places have giant bags of frozen egg . Also cooked eggs like when you buy frozen egg patties for breakfast sandwiches you can make yourself!
We bought a chest freezer for our apartment and it has been a blessing. You're the main reason I bought one, and my thoughts were when we move it will become our meat freezee!
How does this lady get the energy to all this, both my pregnancies I was tired like hell to even get my ass out of bed. She is not a human lol kidding she is awesome
Love this! Jordan you have such useful videos!!!! I Instead of the freezer cube, I lay my bags flat on sheet trays to freeze. Once frozen, I stack them upright in some of those cheap dollar store bins were I can sort them out by contents. I also freeze my meatballs, sliced bananas, cookie dough balls, etc on sheet trays so they can easily be separated once I store them in the freezer bags.
KWells27055 doesn’t that mean you always have to have an empty shelf? Lol I’ve tried this and always end up balancing the tray on other stuff which means I get lopsided frozen bags
It does or just move things around to create an empty shelf until you have your items frozen. Sometimes I can find boxes in my freezer that is the same height. Then I just put the tray on top of them.
I am seriously considering the cube because at the moment I do use a cookie sheet but I tend to forget that I popped it in freezer, then I have a fit when I can not find it. :-) I have the cube in my "wish list" until I know for sure that it will work for my family.
I live in SoCal and we have a lot of citrus that grows. What I like to do is juice it then freeze it. Ie. oranges, I juice several into a container or freezer bag and pull it out for marinades or homemade oj. Lemons, I like to juice and freeze into an ice tray...from there I toss them in a freezer bag and can add a cube or two to hot tea, water, seafood, etc. I froze sour cream once and it thawed chunky so I figured it was bad...next time I do that I'll use it for cooking, thanks for the info!
Jordan, this was such an awesome video. Thank you! We have three freezers and I thought I was the freezer lady, but you are! :) Congratulations on your pregnancy. We just had our baby boy and loving the newborn phase. ~Jennifer xx
Just found you and thank you. As a senior it’s so hard to cook for one where never did in the past. Now l can cook for days and freeze. You’ve got a new subscriber my dear and thanks again
I have a chest freezer. Sucker is deep. Sadly it ain't very full atm. Plus side if you have a small house you can actually use your freezer as an extra table or prep area. Make some yummy bread and prep it on the top of the freezer. Just be sure to clean it before and after. For my chest freezer I plan to put plastic bins in it and basically start organizing the bins for what goes in and inventory that way if I need something I can easily get to the bottom. Reach in pull a bin out and grab what I need and then put the bin back.
This was great! My mom, whom I still live with at 24 (yes, we share the rent and split everything like roomates) has had this GIGANTIC chest freezer for about 30 years, still works great. We were super low income growing up so she needed it to keep us fed when things were pricier, like for instance, beef roasts RARELY go on sale. Anyways, I knew most of this stuff already, but great video, makes me think we should consider a standing freezer. Tip, you can also freeze milk, my sister worked at a 711 and when they would dispose of the jugs that were near expiry she could take some. Now, I'm not a big fan of drinking previously frozen milk, but the taste doesn't change much at all, and it's still great for cooking or smoothies, but our favourite was chocolate milk, because we always mix that like 40/60 with regular milk anyways that was a great way to prolong the life until we could drink it. I still freeze cheese in a block, because I don't usually defrost it hoping to use it for slices, I find the taste changes a bit if you eat it plain anyways so I use previously frozen cheese almost exclusively for cooking, and when it's crumbly it shreds super easy! 😂 And I find bananas can go in the freezer naked as long as the peel is intact, when they get nice and black I just toss them in, no baggie required, and they're fine for a LONG time. Like over a year. They still make excellent banana bread. Just pop them in a bowl to defrost because they will be floppy and the skin easy breaks open once they start softening. Just defrost in the fridge, or I've even rested the bowl across another big pot or bowl of hot water, then cover the banana bowl with a lid or a plate and it warms it to defrost fast, or I guess microwave but honestly the water trick makes it so fast, by the time I'm ready to add them to my bread mix they are soft as long as I take them out before I get the bowls and stuff all together. Like 5 mins max. And the upside to those big chest freezers that are big enough for a person is that they stay frozen for a long time even in power outages. We've had 3 days of outages before, and we just locked the big freezer and used the food in the fridge one for those days, about 11pm on the third day power came back and everything in the freezer was still solid as a rock. I doubted my mom about it lasting on the first day of that outage, but not any more. That thing is a vault. Of course it will eventually melt but it takes ages. Of course, appliances vary so don't take my word for it for your own freezer, and always check everything once the power comes back and you can safely open it without risking accelerating the defrost. I think we only had one time when we lost a freezer load, and thankfully it was just the small fridge one, I guess it was slightly open when we left for a week and a half and when we got back everything was half defrosted. So sad. Thanks for the tips, I keep thinking that a freezer inventory would be so helpful, but I haven't done it yet, just do my best to keep inventory in my head. 😊
We had 4 kids in our family. My parents bought a side of beef (half a cow) once a year and just supplemented with chicken and sausage. usually lasted all year.
Great video....my hubby and I always ask what we want for our anniversary (so no guessing or disappointment😁)....this year I asked for an upright freezer..so yaya...and he wanted the same so win win. Thank you for the tour and the ideas and just being you!~BB
I bought a freezer 'cause of this video. Couldn't afford an upright, but excited to work with the chest and be grateful. Thanks for making this video! I learned a lot.
So here is my freezer hack. We have a ninja but I never use the big blender top (I use the smaller one as a food processor) I put my gallon zip locks in the blender pitcher (with no blade in) wrap the zipper part over the edges and load away. Prevents a mess and makes loading pastas and casseroles so much easier!
I can really relate to bending over into the deep freezer. You gave me a good laugh hollering into the freezer. 😁 Husband finally had mercy on me and bought me a tall upright freezer. I really enjoy my tall upright freezer but it is packed full. The refrigerator freezer is packed too. Girl, I need another one to fill up!!❤️😁
I have been binge watching your videos. I feel so inspired. I feel like you've gotten me out of my funk. Thank you so much. You are the mom I'm trying to be!
I meal prep on my day off for the work week. I tend to like pasta meals because they freeze and reheat well. I cook the pasta until it is a bit firmer than “al dente” because it gets softer when it’s reheated. Some of my favorites are Swedish meatballs with egg noodles, beef stroganoff with egg noodles and lots of mushrooms, pad thai, chicken alfredo with broccoli or peas, spaghetti and meatballs. Stews also work well. I find most of my recipes on Pinterest or make them up as I go. If you can make a roux, you can make a yummy pasta sauce or stew!
Things you can eat on rice or pasta work well. Ground beef, shredded chicken, stew. Make it like you would for that meal, spice, herbs, sauce and all. When you thaw it just thaw it on a lot on the stove. When it starts to boil any excess water from ice would have evaporated and it only takes 15 minutes (same amount of time as your pasta takes to cook anyway) Soup and any vegetable (except potatoes) freeze well. I have already made sweet/buttered carrots, squash and a green bean and mushroom dish in the freezer right now.
OMG, when I was growing up we had a huge chest freezer. My Dad was extremely OCD about it. Every spring when they got their tax refund my parents would buy half a cow and half a pig, and several chickens, from a local butchers. Dad would be very military about how things were put in the freezer and he kept a list taped to the outside of the lid with a drawing as to where stuff was and how many there were. If anyone took anything out and didn't mark it off there was hell to pay. But it meant that we had fresh meat all year long. I wish I had one but I can't afford it and there's no room in my apartment for one. Loved your video, it made me smile and remember my Dad.
The first time you realize that you are saving money on food, it's a rush. I have plenty in my freezer, so I can be really picky with what I purchase. I'll buy my chicken when it's $1.99 and then giggle when my store says they're having a HUGE SALE for chicken at $3.99. It's totally liberating to not be so tied to a grocery store and their prices.
Don’t run an empty freezer, if all else fails when your running out of money freeze cheap bread, then you have bread for toast, and it costs less to run a full freezer than an empty one
I plan my meals so that there are usually leftovers sufficient for another full meal. Casseroles, soups, stews, meatloaf, chili, cakes, muffins etc. all go in the freezer to preserve them and they are ready as planned for meals on busy days.
Just a Tipp An empty freezer uses more energy then a full one because food or liquids hold the temperature better then the air in your freezer. So you should consider shutting the nearly empty one off.
I freeze leftover chicken broth when I don't use the whole can or box or even homemade..I also freeze leftover tomatoes paste, enchilada sauce or just plain tomato sauce..I also save the tomato juice from canned whole tomates and freeze it for future use in soups, sauces or when making chili..which reminds me, you can also cook dry beans and drain the water, then freeze for future use.. There's so much more.. pretty unlimited what you can freeze!
If you watch "Do It On A Dime" she shows you how to organize your chest freezer. She has containers and ways to never loose what is at the bottom of your freezer.
Thanks for that Jordan I appreciate it I knew 90% of that I forgot about some of the things but thank you so much it was really nice to know but I didn’t know that about tall freezers I grew up with the chest freezers like you don’t think about it so The tall freezer is a better way to go thank you so much
For bulk meat, theres a new group that has come around since Zaycon went out, it's called The Savory Butcher! They're doing pilot work right now, their pilot in utah went really well! So maybe you can catch them on their next go around!
I have a very fond memory of helping my cousins clean out their deep freezer when I was a kid. We laughed so hard at all the "mystery" things we found! We have an upright freezer and love it!
Hey Jordan! It is so nice to find someone as exited as me to freeze stuff!!! By that said... i would like to know if i can freeze uncooked rice.....i just bough two whole chickens, bcz it was on sale (the yellow stick!) and i made a chicken stuffed and i tough if i can prepare the other one and freeze..... Thank you and i love your videos!! Have a nice weekend or Shabat Shalom, from Israel Carolina
Best video I’ve seen. Going shopping tomorrow, so I’m using your shopping hacks to save as much as possible and then do some double up some recipes and start making the most of my freezer space!!!
Never leave a freezer mostly empty! Air reheats really quickly so every time you open it the power usage goes up significantly. However, a bottle or jar of water is ultra low cost to make and prevents that issue as the amount of energy needed to change waters temperature is several magnitudes higher than that of air. This goes the same for fridges that sit mostly empty on a regular basis. If, like most people, you don't have particularly cold tap water in the summer these bottles also double as a consistent supply of ice water too.
Thanks so much for posting this video Jordan. Reading through the comments on here tonight...I hope it doesn't discourage you from posting in the future. You do an excellent job at what you do. With that said I know everyone is entitled to their opinions...but it's upsetting when you can plainly see you're just trying to help and people pick out the randomist things to comment and pick at/hate on. I know you probably have developed a very thick skin by now lol but those who enjoy your work and efforts can't help but comment in situations like this. Have blessed evening dear and enjoy your big wonderful family.
Avocados are actually almost always frozen whole when being shipped to grocery stores to prevent damage/brusing and to keep them from ripening too soon
Freezer inventory...LOVE. Printed a few pages immediately after watching the video, emptied my chest freezer, purged some yucky stuff and inventoried that bad boy. 20 minutes...Bam!!! We now know what's in the bottom of that thing! Thanks Jordan
Its great that some countries have the culture of making convinience priority. I am in India. I can never ever think of freezing meals. My family will go bonkers at the thought of eating something thats not fresh cooked.
Same. I am from India as well. My mom would have a heart attack if food is frozen lmao. Our fridge's freezer is typically empty. Only when there is a power outage my mom will transfer the milk and butter to the freezer. My mom always says "If cooked/processed food is frozen then all nutrients is lost. Doesn't taste good either"

Skipper Moses ...just a thought for you....watch “war time kitchen and garden” on RUclips (I think that’s what it’s called) They have made video re-enactments of what it was like when WWll broke out, it’s eye opening....be careful if your like me those videos are addicting :)
I think it is foolish for people to not be prepared and not learn cooking basics, going to be a lot of desperate people when war breaks out or when another depression strikes.....and there coming !!
Oh another RUclips video series is “cooking with Clara” it’s adorable !!!
I know avocados were just on sale for $2 I wish I could go back and buy them all! 😭
love Cooking with Clara! been watching for years and even after she passed😓
they were on sale today for 59 cents!!!! SCORE
Getting my deep freezer this weekend!!! 🙌🙌
The things that make you excited when you’re an adult 🤣🤣
Thanks so much for all of your help! One really helpful freezer-related tip, a replacement for a vacuum-seal machine: you can submerge your bagged food in cold water, keeping the opening of the bag ABOVE THE WATER (to keep the inside of the bag dry). This will remove all air from around your food. I love this money-saving tip!
Oh wow, that's brilliant!
Does that also work with regular plastic bag??? cause i'm nit big on buying Ziplock bag.
Sister, please! Kids are getting smart... put that chocolate in an old Brussel sprouts box! Lima beans works too.
sebern2 haha... smart and sneaky!😉
I have a paint tin that is used as a dore stop in the living room the paint tin is clean and full of good chocolate that untill a couple of days ago even my partner didnt know thats where my stash was
Great tip
Being 19 and living on my own, you have honestly taught me so much!! Ahh, so thankful.
Love this! She’s taught me so much from just watching 3 videos 🤭🤗❤️ of hers!
LOL
And I can/preserve and/or dehydrate tons of garden produce.
Yep!!!! I do that too! It helps to color code the bags. Red for meat, green for veg....❤
I also use those plastic milk crates to store stuff. You may lose a little space because they are bulky, but they make it nice if you want to stack them on top of each other. Then all you have to do is pull the top one out and you can see what's on bottom.
What a fantastic Idea. It means any crumbs fall out into the bag too and not mess up the bottom of the freezer! Clever tip! 😁💕🌸
Good idea!
🤔.......Brilliant 😊
I use milk crates to organize my chest freezer. one on the bottom for meat, one stacked above for fruit & veggies. So much faster and easier to dig stuff out of the bottom.
Ive done that :)
That is such a great idea!
You’re smart, I can’t believe she has such a large platform to spread such unhelpful and wasteful ideas!
@@exxology1 you don't have to watch her if it bothers you that much. Just saying.
@@noneyour. vanessa can watch and then comment whatever she wants
Is anyone else here watching for some reason even though you have an empty fridge because you’re poor? Me too. Hang in there 😌😇
Tuxedo Flores thank you 😊
I'm watching in hopes of one day being able to afford a second freezer so I can do this lol.
Dang. Do your best! Keep in there.
Thank you! One day I'm going to have a fridge that's always fully stocked one day soon! ❤☺
Peeling bananas first, before freezing, was one of those game changers for me!!!
Adding a tip here!! If you separate the bagels before you freeze them, like tear apart each bagel and then put it back together slightly offset then put them back in the bag, you can pull them out of the freezer, separate the two halves easily and stick it right in the toaster!! :)
Oooh thank you!
Thank you Leah! Great ideas!
great tips, thank you
Thank you! I will never waste tomatoes again!
Never knew you could freeze tomatoes, I must have led a sheltered life lol.
Thank you Leah.
Because of you I am doing so much better with block schedules and with the “15 min tuck in time” my kids aren’t fighting ... as much 🤷🏻♀️ so excited for this new vid!!! Thanks a ton!!
Love all your videos! Personal tip- when you freeze old bananas, peel them first, it makes it much easier to thaw and looks nicer :) Great for banana bread like you said and also smoothies,
I’m so tired of always googling or calling my mom to ask about freezing stuff😂 glad I found this video
When the apocalypse starts we all know where to go 😁
Helpful video 👍🏻👍🏻
This comment aged well
The COVID-19 apocalypse has started lets go raid her freezer.....whose with me!!!
And here we are lol just bought me a upright freezer and stocked it so let's hope this turns out well
and here we are...
Wow I don’t even remember I wrote this comment , this is crazy for the time being
another great thing we put in our freezer is a gallon zip bag of veggie debris ( i.e. carrot peels, onion ends, broccoli stems ) when it gets full just boil it in a pot for an hour, strain it and you have an entire pot of veggie stock. You can do the same with bones from ck, beef or turkey . Makes the best broth for ck soup and you have a ton on hand if someone in the family gets sick and needs some good old fashioned ck soup.
@kitty Kitty, yes! The ends of asparagus that one breaks off give great nutrition and flavor to stock and broths. No waste!
Why don’t you peel and eat broccoli stems?
Great idea!
Cathy Bryant, sometimes even after doing that they are still tough and stalky (for lack of a better word) but i do use them to make broths or if i am making homemade soup or stew something thats going to cook for a long time i will toss them in. Usually by the time its done they are more tender
I always put the peels of onions and Carrots in the compost. You use the brown onion skin for stocks?
I thought my Dad was so odd for having a random freezer full of meat. Decades later and 4 kiddos of my own. EVERYTHING goes in the freezer.
Great tips. Thanks.
Spending HOURS watching you as research for when i get to be a stay at home mom :)
Loving how you present!! Yes, bulk buying when on offer and freeze! Loving you girl! 👏👏👏👏👏
"pretty much it will do anything except teach you French" im stealing that
What about reusable containers ?
'Murica, what do you expect?
Natalia D yeah the single use containers eeks me and I'm from America too.. 😖
I'm in Australia & me too - my brain just keeps screaming "Landfill! Landfill! Landfill!" The quantities are just frightening. Helen Buttegeig once said that kind of hoarding suggests huge trauma relating to lack of security or poverty in childhood.
I have a bunch and they are not single use containers. reuse often=)
I use stakable bins with handles on top so it's easy to pull them out and keep things organized
Thank you, Jordan, for sharing how you survive and thrive raising all those precious souls. You are quite amazing.
You actually saved my summer with your frozen meat and cheese sandwich and frozen pbj idea. You are the queen of the freezer!❤️
"What's down there?!?! We're coming for ya buddy!!" LOL Jordan, you're hilarious. Love the video, Love you, Keep up the good work girl!
When I was a kid, my Mom and I went to the Hostess store on the sale day and filled up (part of) our freezer with the little apple pies, Ding Dongs, Ho-Hos, etc. What a treat! Especially eating them part-frozen on a hot summer day.
"Whatssss downnn therreeeee??? Im coming for you buddyyyy!!!!" I died! You are the best Mrs. Page! 😂😂😂😂
PLEASE tell me you are working on a book or two because if not you totally should. I would keep them all on hand 24/7.
Black Friday is a great time of year to buy pyrex glass reusable containers. You can freeze and heat in them. Long term might even save money. Great freezer tour!
Please share your cranberry salsa recipe! Loved the freezer tour- thank you.
Ditto! I've been buying peach salsa at the dollar store, cranberry would be so much better!
This is blowing my mind! 🤯 Your video is more thorough than all the google searches I did to see what food I can freeze. Thank you! 😊
Oh so glad it's helpful!
My momma’s apparently a freezer queen because she’s been doing this since before I was born. Love the tips though. Thank you!
For deep freezers, I like to use milk crates or something similar that stacks to help get to the bottom stuff.
You are a woman after my own heart! I’ve never met a freezer hoarder like me! I have three!
Oh my gosh you can feed your family for at least 6 months with just freezer foods! Your freezers are goals!
You can also freeze your own breakfast burritos from left over scrambled eggs
How does this work? In terms of defrosting time.... Or can we just throw into a frying pan let's say 60g of frozen omelette?
I was just going to say this !!
Very convenient and easy !!
We bought a chest freezer for our apartment and it has been a blessing. You're the main reason I bought one, and my thoughts were when we move it will become our meat freezee!
You don't need to go shopping, because you have enough frozen food to last you a year. Keep these freezer organising coming. I love it.
How does this lady get the energy to all this, both my pregnancies I was tired like hell to even get my ass out of bed. She is not a human lol kidding she is awesome
Love this! Jordan you have such useful videos!!!! I
Instead of the freezer cube, I lay my bags flat on sheet trays to freeze.
Freezer Goals!! Great tips!! Thanks for sharing, things I never thought of before, now hunting an upright freezer, and containers!!
Walmart has one 7cu. For 285. I just brought one !
And I find bananas can go in the freezer naked as long as the peel is intact, when they get nice and black I just toss them in, no baggie required, and they're fine for a LONG time.
Roosterruler I honestly like the rectangle chest freezers better than the tall upright ones.
I'm slowly becoming a food hoarder and I honestly love the feeling lol
Brooke McElhaney I am reading this comment April 5, 2020 15 days in isolation because of covid19 . Wishing I had a small freezer.

Michelle Prine check out She’s In Her Apron She has so many great freezer meal videos! I’ve made a few of her recipes and they’re amazing!
Thank you
Look up Healthymummy.com Great ideas!
Things you can eat on rice or pasta work well. Ground beef, shredded chicken, stew. Make it like you would for that meal, spice, herbs, sauce and all. When you thaw it just thaw it on a lot on the stove. When it starts to boil any excess water from ice would have evaporated and it only takes 15 minutes (same amount of time as your pasta takes to cook anyway)
Soup and any vegetable (except potatoes) freeze well.
I'm doing this, I'm now thinking of buying meat during tax season.
@@Godislove_700 You’re smart! Instead of buying a giant TV.
My freezer is always empty haha this video made me want to start hoarding food too. Didn’t even think of it as being a huge money saver
Finally! Yes!!
I’m a total newbie..

I am so glad to have found this channel. I love tips that help you save money.
Just a Tipp An empty freezer uses more energy then a full one because food or liquids hold the temperature better then the air in your freezer. So you should consider shutting the nearly empty one off.
Or fill it with jugs of water :)

❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ those hearts are from my daughter. We love watching your videos 😊
Aww tell her hello for me!! 🥰🥰
Love this video. And your kitchen is simply gorgeous!!!!!
Is it Thursday already?! Thanks for the tour! Youve made me braver about freezing things.
If you watch "Do It On A Dime" she shows you how to organize your chest freezer. She has containers and ways to never loose what is at the bottom of your freezer.
Conclusion: Freeze everything.
Omg, im so happy im not the only one who calls them "dead body freezers"
Love my freezers!
Great video I am a senior with a small upright and it is wonderful. I also love my vacuum sealer.
I cook an abundance of soup, chili, spaghetti and beans and freeze them in the Kerr canning jars. Good for grab and go for my hubs lunch.
I have a very fond memory of helping my cousins clean out their deep freezer when I was a kid. We laughed so hard at all the "mystery" things we found! We have an upright freezer and love it!
Can't tell you how much I love your videos! Your personality is amazing!
I lost it at, "We're coming for you buddy! "

The only thing I learned here , is that I can freeze whole avocados .. That is great to know . Thank you !
Best video I’ve seen. Going shopping tomorrow, so I’m using your shopping hacks to save as much as possible and then do some double up some recipes and start making the most of my freezer space!!!
Aww thank you! Good luck on your shopping trip!
Awesome. I love freezers. Excellent idea. Thanks you for the printables.
Great tips!
Thanks so much for posting this video Jordan. Reading through the comments on here tonight...I hope it doesn't discourage you from posting in the future. You do an excellent job at what you do. With that said I know everyone is entitled to their opinions...but it's upsetting when you can plainly see you're just trying to help and people
pick out the randomist things to comment and pick at/hate on. I know you probably have developed a very thick skin by now lol but those who enjoy your work and efforts can't help but comment in situations like this. Have blessed evening dear and enjoy your big wonderful family.
In Jesus' name, Amen🙏❤🙏🤗
Mind blown about freezing the 🥑🥑whole avocados!!! 🥑🥑
Naturally Brittany Also you can buy frozen avocados at Costco
Avocados are actually almost always frozen whole when being shipped to grocery stores to prevent damage/brusing and to keep them from ripening too soon
I tried this. It’s not the same.
I peel and cube mine ... easier for throwing in smoothies or making pudding.... No need to deal with the skin and pit while frozen!
@@Pinkoflove3 what happened to them?
Watching 2021 and groceries are going to keep getting more expensive it’s getting scary. So you go girl !!
Freezer inventory...LOVE. Printed a few pages immediately after watching the video, emptied my chest freezer, purged some yucky stuff and inventoried that bad boy. 20 minutes...Bam!!! We now know what's in the bottom of that thing! Thanks Jordan
Yay!! So glad you got that done! I bet it feels SO much better!
Tip; peel the bananas before u freeze. Way easier to use when u thaw them
Peel the bananas first before freezing!
Super Beth yup I learned that the hard way! Peeled frozen bananas last FOREVER!!! And work as great teething food for babies
Yes I do this too so much easier
That is really important!
Yes! Not as squishy and messy to peel.
I learned the hard way. Almost lost a few fingers trying to slice them open 😶
Its great that some countries have the culture of making convinience priority. I am in India. I can never ever think of freezing meals. My family will go bonkers at the thought of eating something thats not fresh cooked.
shreya barsaiyan my husband is this way- but now I cook and freeze the meals, he just sees them come out of the oven and hasn’t noticed a difference
Moriah! Fantastic idea!
I've eaten Indian food while visiting relatives in Scotland, and years later I've been thru brain surgery. I've heard that tumeric helps lost brain cells regrow but Idk any Indian women who have a good recipe for (Chicken or Lamb) Curry. I've asked a few guys if they had a recipe? But they just said no. My question: Is there a better place to look up recipes from India?
@kristina I’m m from India and I know some chicken n lamb recipes. However, I suggest you these channels in RUclips to help you “Vahchef” “ Hyderabad ruchulu” “ Sanjeev Kapoor” “ I’m a big foodie”. Recipes from these channels are very tasty. Pls refer them. There are few other channels too but sorry couldn’t recolllect them now. Indian spices are self healing and has anti oxidants. Hope they contribute to your curing process. I’m sorry about the tumor and wish yu to a happy and quick recovery. Try to buy Indian spices in your nearby Indian store for better price and authenticity.
Most popular video of 2020! 😉 Thank you for all of these helpful tips - using them during this self-quarantine time. 🙌🏼
Wonderful information, my freezers are full too but with all this new information I need another freezer- loved your video
