Done lots of dash pulls. But it is always a blessing to find a video like this to help take it apart faster. Clear concise and straight to the point. I had the dash removed in an hour and a half following your video, thanks!
In the middle of the Evap Core replace now. What a mess! Toyota couldn't have done a better job of designing this Camry around that particular part. Thank you for your help Sir. Couldn't have done it without you!!!!!
I think I will just sale my car, wow might as well disassemble the entire car. I would never be able to put that mess back together right. Good job thanks
Just had this done on my 2007 Camry Hybrid. Took several days just to get the part. Took 3+ days of labor. Total bill, $2,700. I will NEVER buy another HYBRID. This is just one example of my 124k miles.
Please respond! Is this the same procedure on a 2009 camary hybrid? Called 3 shops and they said they wouldnt touch a hybrid and that it had to be a dealer.
Got one of these in the shop now, missed a couple angles in my pre teardown reference photos. Your video is very useful as a visual reference for the ocd tech that must put every clip back in it's place. Thanks for uploading.
I miss the days, particularly on foreign cars were the evaporator box was bolted separate and you could have it out in 45 minutes now they make it like all cars. Were you got a pull the dash out
This video isnt meant for the diyers really its to help out techs that work on all makes and models to get an idea of what they are getting into before doing the job or as a refresher cause its been a few years since they've done ine
I think all cars are being made this way now, were you have to remove the dash. More money for the dealer. They should make the dash a two part piece where you just take one side off and slide out the evaporator.
I had the dealer do it. It was about $2000 parts and labor. I went over it when I got it back and I found some screws not tightened down, some missing and a nut missing. They have to order the missing parts. It does come with a 1 year warranty.
I need to replace my power mirror control switch but I didn't want to break the plastic trim piece. After watching how you were able to pull on it and didn't break it, I'm gonna try it.
It may seem like a daunting task but not so bad when putting everything back together. Just make sure you break down sections. i.e. center console, driver side (steering wheel, knee airbag), passenger side (airbag & glove box), dashpad, dashboard support bar, hvac system. Watch out for ac system's explosive pressure.
I take it you're not smiling in your profile pic because of things like this. 😂 I got one with 52,000 miles with a leaking evaporator core in the shop, coming back to it half-torn apart on a Monday. Thank you for this video 🙏🏻
This is a great video! Thanks! Just one critique, I would maybe try to slow down the ending. You went real fast and it was actually giving me motion sickness lol! Still a great video! Thanks again.
Yes, all my videos are too fast as I try to get them small enough to fit on my Evernote software. They weren't really made for RUclips, just myself at first but figured why not share.
At minute 6. You explain how to remove the whole bar out.. i have a v6 2008 highlander.. look very similar. Is this the same for the highlnaders ?.. removing the whole bar with the air box together ?
Please help/respond! I had the same thing done by a mechanic to replace the leaking evaporator. But since fixing it back, while driving I can hear the engine sound everytime I accelerate coming into the cabin from the driver/left side. From where could this be? It's horrible
Put a smoke machine inside the car and close all the doors. Pop the hood and look for smoke. The smoke will show you where the source of your problem is.
i’m having problems trying to put the dashboard back it seems like the airbag is restricted the movement of the dash and not allowing it to sweat properly
Do you replace the evaporator when is leaking or also if there is a blockage? Not trying to do myself but the mechanic just replaced the compressor and the expansion valve but AC still won’t cool and he told me to take to a specialized shop because I may need to replace the evaporator. Before he replace my compressor I got a reading of 42 on low and 275 on high. I am not a mechanic but I think that is something else.
It is rare, but I have seen evaporator cores that have caused cooling issues. One was a brand new Mopar unit and it wasn't cooling evenly across the evaporator core due to internal restrictions. But your high side pressure is higher than normal at 275psi (depending on testing conditions). On a
@@TechnicianRed it was around 85F. I don’t think the guy replaced the filter. The store I purchased the parts didn’t had it so I ask him to buy. He mention something about cleaning but didn’t charged for the part, I didn’t considered that could be a problem. He mention the line looked to be in the right temperature. I hope this other mechanic can somehow clean obstruction if is the case because the evaporator is ridiculous hard to change. My local Toyota dealer quoted $3500 over the phone. 😳. Any chance you are in Central Florida? 😁
Middle and ending pretty good - beginning segment begins with multiple items already removed - many people that are beginners will be starting off without important visuals. This video is to help someone who may have limited experience and trying to save money from $$$ maintenance bills. Right out of the gate it has already skipped past the beginning stages of removing items in process... I realize this video was put up to try & help people out & also possibly earn an extra income for video, but at least try to start the video at the beginning of the fix process, not after you started earlier and then start video some time later...
Better have one OUTSTANDING memory for THIS undertaking. DAMN!!
Thank you for such a comprehensive video without filler chat. Looks like I got a long day at the junkyard ahead of me

Thank you for the video, Very helpful! Took most of the day to do this job! Seems like Toyota built the rest of the car around the evaporator core.
Did you knock it out???
Thank you so much for the tutorial! 1 hour in and I actually managed to get 80% of the dash out. I'll pick back up again tomorrow.
Man you helped me so much. I just finished fixing the leaky evap coil. Well done sir.
Why didn't anyone tell me it was that easy? 😂
I think I will just sale my car, wow might as well disassemble the entire car. I would never be able to put that mess back together right. Good job thanks
almost all are like this. and if u need an evap core gotta do an expansion valve too
Same here, for a 14 year old camry forget it.
LOL. He basically took the whole damn car apart.

"Disassembling an entire 2009 Toyota Camry - A How To" ........ That's the correct title to this video.

The best $400 ever spent at a mechanic lol
Oh we are way more than $400 for this job!
1500 😂😢

How do you unlock the steering wheel in able to turn it without connecting the battery?
The camera is moving to fast

how do you release the steering wheel when the car is all apart with no battery connected?
Wow, that is a lot of work. A great video and explanation but not something I would attempt at this time.
Holy fuck. One that won't take 15 hours. Shit I need to do this. Glad I found your video.
i’m having problems trying to put the dashboard back it seems like the airbag is restricted the movement of the dash and not allowing it to sweat properly
Sorry but I'm no help. I've only done just this one and that was atleast a year ago.
I'm gonna do this on my lunch break tomorrow

On second thought, my melted dashboard is ok 😅
Going to replace my dash next week, seems like east work just a long process

Thank you so much!

Well done but what a collosal pain in the ass to do
I'm in the middle of doing it now....whew...

I DO believe I’d rather do a water pump on a late model Ford 3.5L V-6 engine!!
You should do mine
