Old school with a hand driver, I use my loader. But your right with that middle line hand stretch. Learned that as a teenager, 40 years later I still do it and shown many people, both my boys and grandson. Looks good.
It is never just a one subject video. Love the channel with the family. I have a family of 5 and we are constantly busy with so much going on all the time. Your channel reminds me of my family, but we are stuck in the city.
I so love all ur videos i could watch them for hours from my heart I want to say thank u for ur videos I watch ur videos and they take me back to the days I would help my grandfather on the farm thank u so much
Nothing better than a warming chilli on a cold day. All the better for some goat meat in there too. Have great week everyone at the Arms Family Homestead! 😊
I found the fence building playlist, thank you. Your concrete project came out great. Now you have a yard you can use. On the fence building... Over the years I had many post pounders. The best one was one that had railway rails welded to the sides. The best trick I learned from an old timer I never start my posts upright. I place the ground point of the T post where I want to pound it, then I lean the post down and side the pounder over the post while it is down at an angle then I put the post and pounder up verticle. This saves the arms attached in 1951.
OMG I love to hear you guys southern accent. I lived in the south till about 3 years ago. I MISS it! looking for land back south east. I can't get enough of your video's Thank you so much for the time you spend making video's.
That's a good idea about lining them up with the wire. And using the length (2x) of the T-posts to measure the distance apart. I have to stand on a stool to pound my T-posts in, but it's a good arm workout. :)
So true what you say about buying good quality fencing and T post. If we had just used field fence instead of 6' welded wire fencing for my horses I would have come out to dead horses in the morning from a black bear trying to break in. I swear by those panels now.
I enjoy watching your videos, whatever the topic is, Sir. Bcz you and everyone, of course including your furry pets, are so enjoyable to see. Esplly glad that your teenager found the time to help your with your chores, it's really awesome! He's learning a lot, too, about keeping the farm safe for the animals you keep. And Houston is awesome, too, being happy and enjoying himself with those few snow balls he's made. I bet when he gets the chance to be somewhere where snow is thick, he'll have a really tremendous time playing with it! Anyways, i'll be waiting for your next videos, as always. 'Till then!
Thank you, Houston for showing us the snowballs. That is the first snowballs I have seen all winter. Mr. Arms, thank you and Weston for the fencing tip. I'll be doing my first ever fencing project this spring and I'll bet I would have tore myself up trying to stretch barbed wire. But now, my sons can look at me in astonishment when I grab a hold of the middle of the section and stretch it like a pro! Going to plow into some other videos I saw you have about fencing. Thanks bunches. ~Sherrie in South Carolina
That little fella is a HAM! You're right about running the barbed wire along the bottom of the fence...I learnt that lesson the hard way. I couldn't figure out how the pig was getting out!
See that fence building made me have nightmarish flashbacks! And also reminded me of what I have to look forward to in a few weeks. We put up around 4000’ last year. Makes me tired just thinking about it.
Well that's a lot easier than the way we had to do it, post hole diggers an creasoted wood posts. An U nails, they make for a fun day, lol. Nice to see your son 's giving you a hand, I like how you engage all of your family in your vids, God bless bro.
When i was in the 9th grade we had 2 sets of twins in our class. Very unusual there was only one 9th grade in the school and only 18 kids in the class. The sister's were paternal and the brother's were maternal twins. The girls did not look alike but the boys look just alike until you got to know them. Thanks for the barb wire tip, never knew that. Wish we had a couple of 16 years old's to put up fence. As they say the old gray mare is not what she used to be.
Daniel, good tip on pulling barbed wire tight! that is very useful information. guess building a fence is a process one phase at a time. I have seen some kind of rig ya put on the back of a tractor to roll out a big roll of fencing making it more manageable in putting up the fencing.. hope you and your brother have good success with your fence! Tell Houston its snowing up here in Utah maybe we could send him some more to build a snowman or a snowshute to sled on. till your next video take care.
Or maybe alpaca, their popular! Not much meat on them though. 😁 I'm thinking of a cow. Couldn't judge if there was enough room there though! Just have to wait and see!
Man I'm jealous of that ground. My land has a lot of clay and rocks, it's a pain in the a$$ to pound by hand. Had to rent a post pounder a couple times now.
fence construction a very big debate. we have found to include a wood post every 5 posts of the run. best answer a young friend was looking at a fence on that he bought. just happened both his father-in-law and I were there. the fence was leaning with the wind. I told him after the 1st year a wood post would help the fence stand straight (the steel posts would help the wood post the 1st year). he looked at me half cock-eyed crazy, his father-in-law said he's right.
I've done some fence pulling in the day and there just ain't nothing more fun than stretching heavy gauge woven wire fence on a cold Monday morning. I hope your brother has a heads up so he can get plenty of coffee in him LOL Stay Safe, Later Okies
I finally got an inch of snow Saturday. Of course my duplex get sun all day as the earth footages. I have a few places under the shady places yet. Waiting to see what kind of livestock you are going to add.
I've never built fence before, but on my property I've got about 1 1/2 miles of fence to build. how often should you put in the tension posts. I like that idea of putting the barb wire on the bottom and on the top. thanks for the video.
It really just depends on the type of fence and distance. I am just building short runs here so I'm not adding any midline tension posts. With barbed wire you can go quite a long distance if it's flat ground. With a woven wire I would put a stretch post at least every 5-600 feet.
I personally feel that every teenager need to be made to drive t-post around a field at least once before they become an adult. It'll humble you up quick 😂 my teeth rattled just watching this 😁 P.s. I've been forced to help build fences my whole life. With many different people. Grandpa, dad, uncle... and never i have i seen thw wire streached in the middle. Do you have any idea how miles of fence rows I've walked with a peice of rebar to twist the wire back tight again! I can't belive my papaw didn't do this 🤦🏻♀️
Good Video Good to see Weston helping out. Houston needs a haircut thought he was a girl for a long time. Sorry I had long hair in the 70's So glad it went out of style and so much easier to take care of.
Hahaha...... Dj is going to improve, enhance your gamey hamburger deer meat to make it taste "SO GOOD!" LOL! ..... I'm glad you mentioned how wet the ground was because Weston drove a couple of those t-post two feet in three blows!...... I said "DAAG!" :D
Keep it going . It’ll get done eventually. 😂 😂Houston was meaning to get his older brother with some snow, but he is the one that ended up receiving it . I think 🤔 maybe thats how he wanted it to end anyway. Good to him and EmmaLee on video again. Loved the video.
Dang, never occurred to me that there is good and bad quality Tpost. I just bought a 180 of them from TSC for $3.89 ea. They didn't seem to bend at all when I drove them in but I did notice a little rust. Hope I didn't mess this up, definitely wasn't Sheffield brand, they were Franklin Ind. If anyone has any experience with this brand, let me know your experience. Good video!
Your Lucky you don't have to add in H-bracing every 150 to 300 feet. We have some super long pulls on our place. We do the barbed wire at the bottom also. PLUS you got cheap labor that I don't have. lol I have to do it all myself. Can we borrow the 16 year old for a few days. We will feed him well.
Hi, very helpful videos on dense building. What is the spacing for your T Posts and how far can you run them before needing a more substantial post in the mix?
Hello and Daniel looks like you got some good help so true better to do your fence right the first time or you can chase your animals all the time (Been there done that ) hello Houston nice snowballs , 🐖💭 so good Thanks for sharing God Bless
So I have a fencing question. Can I stretch to an angled corner, staple to the wood double H Brace there. Then continue to the next corner, staple there and keep going? Or will I need to cut and wrap at every corner even the angled one. When I say angled, it's not 90 degrees, maybe 45 degrees.
Fyi... In Europe where they eat a lot of goat meat they refer to it as goat mince! And no, I'm not European, but I did live in England for 3 years! Lol
I thought Weston was going to be too cool to jump on the trampoline... lol... and Houston, no giving away family secrets... at least not yet! Did you say "cow?" Obviously Deejay was being honest in how she felt about the venison you smoked if she feels the need to "repurpose" it in order to make it edible (so good)... lol. It was nice seeing Bear chilling with the family.
The lady wanted me to put in a few T posts so we could put a piece of fence to keep the dog from pulling the tomatoes off the plants. I hated putting in T posts 'cause the driver makes this painful CLANG right by my ears and I'm a bit "sensory." "So, how am I going to do this? Oh! Noise cancelling headphones!" Ah! Much better. The headphones reduced the clang to a nice manageable thump.
And as ALWAYS another great video! Thanks for the tip...we are getting ready to tighten 2 acres of barbed and woven. Sigh..payed someone else to put it up...uhm yeah bad idea. So good...So good..Epic 😊❤
Can you tell me what distance can I fence with field fencing from my corner post until I need some sort of bracing again and how far must my T posts be apart. I need to do 840 feet in straight line down a hill. Thanks for your good videos.
How tight do you stretch your bar wire? I’ve been told to give it plenty of slack if stretching in the summer time as the wire will contract in the wintertime and it can snap. But I want to make sure we don’t get too much slack in it either
I enjoyed the video. You are teaching your son well. Most kids today don't know how to do anything. God bless you and your family
Old school with a hand driver, I use my loader. But your right with that middle line hand stretch. Learned that as a teenager, 40 years later I still do it and shown many people, both my boys and grandson. Looks good.
Houston is just a little star, He is so good with the camera, The whole family is very at ease and yall are a very lucky family. Bless yall
It is never just a one subject video. Love the channel with the family. I have a family of 5 and we are constantly busy with so much going on all the time. Your channel reminds me of my family, but we are stuck in the city.
The best part was the snowballs!😅😅😅 Too cute! I like this guy's video. Not a lot of useless conversation!
I remember building fence with my Dad. Great tips on the lower wire to stretch and set the posts straight. Great Channel and growth.
Houston is so cute. Fence is coming along, good tip with the barb wire. Whole lot of cooking going on. Have a great week Arms Family and Friends.

LOL! Love your jokes about the 2 girls and your 16 yr. old son.
That's a good idea about lining them up with the wire. And using the length (2x) of the T-posts to measure the distance apart. I have to stand on a stool to pound my T-posts in, but it's a good arm workout. :)
Good job for Weston. Build those muscles.
Love your channel. God Bless
Hadn’t thought of that good bit of information to know!!! I appreciate that.
I sure wish I'd seen this a couple of weeks ago....BEFORE we put up fencing!!! GREAT information!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!
We call it ground burger also. No matter what it is. Sounds like home. Just love your channel.
good to see all the family today!! really good video as usual!! Have a great week!!
Great information on fencing most people have never driven a t post.
So true what you say about buying good quality fencing and T post. If we had just used field fence instead of 6' welded wire fencing for my horses I would have come out to dead horses in the morning from a black bear trying to break in. I swear by those panels now.
Can’t wait to sees the baby’s! Goat and sheep! And also looking for Dutches channel ! Take care !

Great tip! Always stretch em tight then stretch again!
Yeah late winter or early spring time is the best time to put fencing in ground cause ground is usually really soft without being muddy
Bella's so cute. Bear is the camera hog. Love both of them. Good fencing tips. GOD bless Y'all.
Thank you, Houston for showing us the snowballs. That is the first snowballs I have seen all winter. Mr. Arms, thank you and Weston for the fencing tip. Nice to see Weston for a whole video, that hasn't happened in a while!!
Lol Houston was so confused when you said " what?? We aint gettin no bleeeepp" kids are the best comedians!
When i was in the 9th grade we had 2 sets of twins in our class. Very unusual there was only one 9th grade in the school and only 18 kids in the class. Great video! Good to see all the family, plus some. 👍👍👍👍👍👩🌾

Have a good day stay safe out there. I wouldn't be surprised if you got an Ostrich.
Or maybe alpaca, their popular! Not much meat on them though. 😁 I'm thinking of a cow. Couldn't judge if there was enough room there though! Just have to wait and see!
@@indigoblue4791 That was my next guess time will tell.
@@indigoblue4791 I thought I saw Houston say cow. I could be wrong.
Great nugget of "Gold" on the fence! Tweeted!
I’m coming back today cuz I am working on my Goat fencing. Good video, crazy how little lil man looked in this video and had all that hair still.
Great video, thanks for the barbed wire tip!
Great video, I always like to see the whole family..
Great content. Stay safe trooper.
Man I'm jealous of that ground. My land has a lot of clay and rocks, it's a pain in the a$$ to pound by hand. Had to rent a post pounder a couple times now.
Our family motto when building fence horse high pig tight bull strong
Thanks for the tip,I'm about to start building the same kind of fence.
Definitely going to have to give this a shot, I’ve had to redo fence too many times.

Stand behind post when pulling wire always
Those manual post drivers are no fun, but they sure build character in the young! 😂😂
Just a great family!

It's great to have see Wes out there helping. Hi Houston, and Ms.Em. how did you do that trick? With a mirror😂🤣double mint twins😂🤣
My grandpa had a saying buy once, cry once
Very nice fence your building
I’m wondering how Houston made such a clean snowball 😂 If we get snow, ours usually have some dirt and grass in them, lol
Good Video
Good to see Weston helping out.
Houston needs a haircut
thought he was a girl for a long time. Sorry

You just reminded me that we have the build another goat barn , a hay shelter and put up a fence lol🤣🤣🤣

Not being mean, but wondering how much longer Bear is going to be a viable guardian dog, and what kind will you be getting ready next?
So I have a fencing question. Can I stretch to an angled corner, staple to the wood double H Brace there. Then continue to the next corner, staple there and keep going? Or will I need to cut and wrap at every corner even the angled one. When I say angled, it's not 90 degrees, maybe 45 degrees.
fAMILY life vids have EVERYTHING in them, makes it a lot more interesting. Keep it up Daniel, youse is gittin a lot better. lolol
Any tips for building fence in a flood zone?
Because of the lay of my land, I decided to go with 5 strand electric fence. I don't think I'd trust it to keep a buck secure, though.
Tell your wife to try mixing Bush's Black,Pinto,Great Northern and Kidney Chili Flavored beans all together in her Chili.

how far off the ground do you put the barb wire. i was told goats will get thier heads stuck in 4x4 fence. so i should use 4 x12 fence?
Can you tell me what distance can I fence with field fencing from my corner post until I need some sort of bracing again and how far must my T posts be apart. I need to do 840 feet in straight line down a hill.
