With all the nice tools and vehicles that'll be in your shop, I would definitely invest in a hardwired security system no matter how safe the area is.
I second this, Westin Champlain and Whistlin Diesel get stolen from somewhat frequently and they have also invested in some security as of late.

Hey Gingium, just wanted to let you know your dream shop series has motivated my dad and I to start building out our own, just purchased a tool cabinet yesterday and got it set up. I'm 17 and he is mostly working out of state so it's been a great time. Keep uploading :)

A mini fridge would be a nice touch to the shop I feel like. Especially since you now live in a hotter place.

Awesome job outfitting your shop! Due to a recent near disaster in my home shop, you should store the heavy stuff on your bottom shelves instead of the shop towels. Heavy weights on the middle shelves stress the sides and tend to make them pull apart. Ask me how I know. I lost a big glass bottle of liquid when my shelves imploded while I was standing there unloading stuff. I was able to catch almost everything before they were destroyed.

Work smarter, not harder man. Yourself, being a mechanic that will forever grow your knowledge, you gotta invest in the preservation of your body. You literally parked three towns over and carried all of that stuff into the shop lol. Pull that thing up to the shop door, and save time, energy, and future pain. I'm 28, and already wish I would have taken better care of myself in the younger years. Already have tech's arthritis, and my back is FUBAR. Keep killing it man, love the progress of the shop! Absolute best feeling is having a shop you can take pride in!

This is such a minor thing, but I like to put towels and rags up top on shelves, otherwise someone comes along and knocks some fluid over and it drips to the bottom.

An idea to keep your new workbenches from looking old once they get broken in is getting a thin piece of aluminum to top them. Nothing will stain or soak into the wood and when it gets old or dented you can replace it! Saw m539 restorations do it in his shop!
That's a good idea! I wonder if a clear wrap would achieve a similar result?

A good idea unless you are working on anything electrical, reinforced rubber sheet works great.
@@_Gingium_ Clear wrap would be less abrasion resistant. If you skid something across the wrap it's likely to tear it. Aluminum will be smooth like BUTTA.
@@_Gingium_ I've heard waterlox is the go-to for protecting them while keeping the butcher appearance. I trashed my benches before I treated mine... oops
That big wall shelf is gonna be really usable to store parts from the projects, you could put down some rubber mats to protect the shelfing from the items and also help them not roll off down on the floor.
Man the up coming videos are gonna be amazing. The shop is looking like a automotive youtubers dream.
I dont know your plans at all with all your videos, but take your time building the shop. Sometimes this can be more fun to watch than always working on cars, you refresh your channel to gain more perspective of your mechanic life. I really like it, feels like you get a fresh start somewhere and get more motivation aswell to bring out more fun projects to make. idk, just kinda got this feeling haha, good job so far Gingie :)

Consider putting shop towels at the top of the cabinet to shift the center of gravity of the cabinet to keep it stable and if any fluid leaks it won't drip onto your clean towels and ruin them.

I got a red/black 32in wide craftsman cabinet from Lowe’s. Once assembled I stood it up and my right door was uneven on top, and magnet wouldn’t reach to pull it closed. Didn’t even think to square it up! What worked for me was lay it down, loosen everything up, square it, and retightened in this order: 1.Corners 2.Shelves 3.Everything else.
Please paint those damn garage doors! It's killin the clean-ness of all the hard work you've done!
Sometimes I like the shop buildout better than the builds. Refreshing to see the progress. Good Luck homie.
For labelling the little plastic parts drawers, use a marker (whiteboard or permanent, will still wipe off with alcohol) and stick clear parcel tape over the writing. Wipes clean and lasts practically forever, or until you need to re-label.
Small pro-tip, put the towels on the top shelf, not the bottom shelf. Leaks happen.

About the bolts compartments above the desk: make it higher so you don't take space from the desk plus you will be able to open the lower compartments with stuff on the desk

Caleb you are truly amazing and what you've achieved since working in your parents garage is evidence that anyone can do anything with enough patience, persistent and self taught skill. All day I've just been sat thinking about how I can achieve my goal, but not taking the steps towards achieving those smaller goals. Just what I'm trying to say is that watching your videos is a reminder that anything is possible with the right mindset.
P.S. Come to the UK sometime for a cup of tea, I'll put the kettle on! 🤣

Super small suggestion but you should move those paper towels to the top of the shelf. If anything above has a leaky bottle then it's gonna waste all of those rolls.
If you want to boost that efficiency even more, get yourself a shop/business account set up for whatever auto parts store you use. I have one for Napa so anytime I need something right then, I can get it that same day or if I need it coming up, I set it up for delivery next morning no extra cost. And every month I have an auto delivery essentially for consumables like oil, filters, brake clean, rags/towels, etc. made a huge difference in working on projects for me.
So now we know the NEW new Name of the Shop is now Hip Hop Rim Shop ! The shop is coming along amazing cant wait to see the finished product

dude judging by the amount of hiphop beats you use in your videos, that hip hop rim shop neon sign is so darn cool
Just a few ideas to save a few bucks. Brake clean is much much cheaper in bulk and using a hand pump sprayer saves alot of money. The problem at least here in Canada is on every container of oil or brake clean your paying a fee for just the containers. If you but 5gl bucket or 1 can the fee is the same because it's a "contaminated container" also buying oils from local "off brand" companies can save huge money and iv found a supplier locally who refills pails with oil so you only have to pay the container fee once. Not to mention they are about 30% cheaper than any other place per gallon. And they give oil spec sheets showing they have nearly identical oils to shell one of the most trusted brands of oil. Just some ideas you might not have considered. Loving the shop series keep up the great work!!
