Just picked up a project for my channel 2001 7.3 6 speed dually 4x4 135k Miles for $5700 so excited!!! Catching up on some RUclips 7.3 materials before tackling the big girl!!
Something I learned when pulling the turbo on my 7.3 OBS is that a teak swim deck off of a boat works really well to lay on. It was so helpful to me I thought I would share with yall. Thanks for the video
I’m curious what you think of the banks housing. I took mine off and went back to stock I thought it sounds better with stock exhaust housing. What parts on your turbo are 38r? I have the amazon 4” comp housing and couldn’t use my banks waste gate. I watched your video about the methanol install. I ended up installing the stage one kit. Would you like to see it where I installed it?
After doing the up pipe job, and seeing what all you have to tear through to get to them, what would you suggest replacing/upgrading on your way to the up pipes? While everything is disassembled already
Alot of people will leave the turbo loose to make it all fit. I like your way better leaving manifolds loose instead. That way you know pedistal won't leak
i have a 7.3 and I want to upgrade the turbo, i have an S&B intake and 4 in exhaust with flow throw muffler. I like in Arizona and I occasionally tow total 20k up and down the mountains lbs. i cant decide between. 84 and 1.0 ar how is your your exhaust temps at full throttle and spool diffrence?
I see you were commenting on the soot at the top of you're up pipe indicating a leak. Did you notice the leak before you removed the turbo? What was you're boost psi like before you did the up pipes? thanks for any response.
I just ordered the BD billet wheel and waste gate with the xdp up pipes and banks 1.0 housing as well. It's an 2002 f250 7.3 should it sound similar to this.
i've got a 97 7.3 with an intake and a 4in turbo back straight pipe. do you know how to make an obs sound like that? the turbo is relatively quiet unless you stand on it.
+Maurice Delage a upgraded turbo wheel will help a little. The difference is the intercooler changes the sound. Hopefully some else can chime in to help you out. Don't forget about the website Xpressdieselperformance.com
does 7.3 and ford truck in general always have that extra play, i test drove a 7.3 with like 3 different sets of tires and it had little still went straight when u took your hands off the wheel. normal?
These are older big ass heavy trucks. After so long those steering boxes start wearing out. You can adjust them a little bit but once it gets too bad you just gotta replace them.
Theres many reasons for play to be caused, steering column can have play, steering shaft off the column, gear box, steering linkage, even too big of tires that flex alot, alignment can be off and make it feel like theirs play, frame issues
Good video, i find the Banks gear quiet good, why did you go for the AFE turbo inlet over the Banks twin ram system, also do you have the standard turbo intercooler, cheers mate.
I noticed that It takes longer to build boost, but lower egt. When i had the.89 boost was much quicker than it is now. I've thought about switching back to see how much a difference. If i do Ill post a video on it, just haven't felt like pulling my turbo again lol
+Daniel Schmit the 4" housing is the way to go or the full 38r. But that means your ww2 for your turbo don't be any good. But you don't regret the 4" housing
Yes i did upgrade it to the 38r if you watch the video called 7.3 Turbo is has my full description on the turbo. ruclips.net/video/BeT6Ar8M78k/видео.html

thanks for the share, i used a foam pad the second time. after laying on the motor for a long time starts to really hurt the chest
It sure does. I was in a car wreck awhile back and being bent over that long is impossible. The swim deck made the job possible

After doing the up pipe job, and seeing what all you have to tear through to get to them, what would you suggest replacing/upgrading on your way to the up pipes? While everything is disassembled already
After doing it 4 times everything is a lot simpler lol
Alot of people will leave the turbo loose to make it all fit. I like your way better leaving manifolds loose instead. That way you know pedistal won't leak
Does anyone know how to get a 7.3 OBS to sound like this?
What's done to your truck?
Maurice Delage Straight pipe it with a 5in exhaust and you should be whistling I know that the wicked wheels are basically the OBS wheels
Add an intercooler as well.
What’s the deal with that overhead center console thing
Bad

What did u go with a .84 or the 1 for towing I'm worried about the egts over a pass at wot
Dude make some videos 7.3 ✊
Haha sweet. Sounds a bit like a 6.0 when ya stomp on it.
Noah Smith yea I have a 7.3l with turbo work and 4” exhaust and it sounds a little like a 6.0l at wide open throttle
I see you were commenting on the soot at the top of you're up pipe indicating a leak. Did you notice the leak before you removed the turbo? What was you're boost psi like before you did the up pipes? thanks for any response.
What gauges do you have on your pillar??

I would like to see it pulling about 20,000 pounds down the road. You have already done the road test. Now show the tow test.
Yes what is your truck
Helpful video man!!!
Thanks let me know if i can help.
Devon Xpress do you have any knowledge or opinion on the irate diesel headers for the 7.3L?
I haven't looked into them

Maurice Delage I got a 64mm turbo on my 95 powerstroke. Thing is scary when it spools. Haha
Maurice Delage add an intercooler and a wicked wheel 2.
Are you seriously pushing the over drive button / town haul !!! On and off constantly . 😂 The fuck

Yes a little play is normal, If its excessive may be able to adjust the gear box or may need to be replaced
7.3 Ford Mechanic my 7.3 got no play at all only 140xxxkm

I simply went with the AFE intake seemed to offer Bang for buck, and still have stock intercooler will be upgrading that soon. Thanks for the comment
Did you not any difference in peak boost when switching to the 1.0?
I noticed that It takes longer to build boost, but lower egt. When i had the.89 boost was much quicker than it is now. I've thought about switching back to see how much a difference. If i do Ill post a video on it, just haven't felt like pulling my turbo again lol
I have the ww2 in factory housing. Im rebuilding my engine right now and was debating on the new housing or not
+Daniel Schmit the 4" housing is the way to go or the full 38r. But that means your ww2 for your turbo don't be any good. But you don't regret the 4" housing
what kind of mirrors are on that truck?
Those are the 2008 style mirrors
2017 super Duty tow Mirrors
Where did you order your conversion kit from? and Was the EBPV Delete worth it, was there a significant difference you noticed from the delete?
I was so disappointed with the banks product. Over charged and under performed. Went with DP tuner. Been HAPPY ever since
Did you upgrade the turbo wheel? the whistle sounds pretty loud for a 7.3
Yes i did upgrade it to the 38r if you watch the video called 7.3 Turbo is has my full description on the turbo.
ruclips.net/video/BeT6Ar8M78k/видео.html
Nice
Where did you get the mirrors on your truck?
Hey when u did all that to the turbo did u have to tune the computer for the new parts? Asking for a friend lol
I have a tune on my truck nothing custom. Don't need a tune for mild upgrades, but it helps get the most out of it
Did u run it with out the tune at all or did u alrwady have it tuned for the new turbo
what brand exhaust do you have and is it 4" or 5" ? im looking to straight pipe my 7.3
4" MBRP
which brand up pipes did you use?
www.xpressdieselperformance.com/products/7-3l-bellowed-up-pipe-kit-xd178
Those look like '17 mirrors
what was the preload you used on the new waste gate actuator, i just bought the same one.... I've seen one place that said 6 turns
Are your up pipes from xdp
+Taylor Blume yes they are
