@mommalish still going on 725k now had to do flex plate. I swapped cabs and box with a 2004 lariat so have a moon roof and few other goodies my 2002 lariat didn't have. I'm driving it until something catastrophic happens.
I have a 7.3 SRW F350, the tow rating is about the same as a 6.0 F350. I'd stay away from early model 6.0's but the later ones are fine, maybe throw on an oil cooler and some other mods for reliability. Some old guy in my hometown has a 7.3 with over 700k miles which isn't surprising for a 7.3 but pretty rare for a 6.0.
Just stick a tip or dual straights on er which I ain't gonna lie my brothers farm truck sounded loose as crap but bought for 3100 or 3200 and put five hundred dollars worth of work into it and none of that work was for the body and they stopped making the turbo boots you had to special order it it sucked but however we sold now my brother regrets it so it's pretty funny because I told him not to but that ole 1996 extended cab f350 lives to drive another day for a friend of mines farm because his Nissan Titian cummins couldn't pull a gooseneck it squatted the whole time
This video is so old. I didn't bother with upgrading the stick turbo on my 7.3. I went straight for a Garrett powermax ball bearing turbo. Yeah it is more expensive and maybe a little outlandish, but it would hold up far better than the modded stock turbo Stacey did here with the mods in this truck.
These comments on this vid show the true intelligence of most men who sit on the couch and watch t.v... RUclips Zack Pierce... Heaviest truck in the Nation in 10 sec class and trust me... It's a 7.3...
Removing the turbo is not that difficult...WTF, one of the biggest pains I have ever tried on a vehicle. Been working on cars for more than 30 years and the turbo upgrade kicked my butt.

The 2000 has a front leaf arrangement that no one can explain to me. The sprins are not "together " as all of the other leafs I see. The are "spread" front and back. But , they are firmly attached at the bracket top and bottom. Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.
@ruaridh66 yep. 215 at 3k rpm. no intercooler, not much boost. not much fuel. made to pull, not go fast. this rig can eb updated.. intercooler and more fuel. you can make 300 hp and 500 torque. easy if you update it.
Well the SD are a bit easier to get the turbo out but far from " Take this bolt loose and Viola! its out" like this guy shows it. Try that on a 95 7.3. 4 bolt exhaust flange with 2 bolts you cant even see. Then add Rust and heat/cool about a thousand times. Then you have 4 10mm bolts underneath the damn pedestal to wrench out 1/8 turn at a time. God forbid you want to take out the pedestal also. 2 bolts easy to get too. 1 is hidden under the exhaust flange behind the EPBV valve body. The other one is on the other end of the EPBV valve body and no room to get a socket on it. If I ever have to work on another OBS turbo its with a Sawzall.
I still own my 1999 Ford F350 super duty 4x4 dually with the original 7.3 diesel.. I just saw this post.. a stock 6.7 makes about 320/670, a tuned 7.3 makes about 310/675. So they are in the same ballpark. Diesel hasn't changed all that much, high pressure common rail fuel is what sets the new trucks apart. However, the HEUI system on the 7.3 can still support 1000+ hp
Chase Harris I'm talking rwhp. As in dyno numbers. There is driveline loss in any vehicle. I was making an approximation off of what i've seen and heard.
how meany watts dos that 1 generator have next to the alternator u haven't up loaded the ep yet i wanna know what brand it is i wanna see the kites for it
I was saying that you can't buy a 6.4 as cheap as you can buy a 01 dmax like mine and make it fast. You can make a 6.4 run like crazy but the cost of the truck alone, I can build a dmax that will be just as fast. I have $20,000 now in my 01 dmax and thats including the cost of the truck. the only hard part is getting heat welded clamps off...other than that its just about as easy as unbolting it....considering you are mechanically inclined..
