    I have a 7.3 SRW F350, the tow rating is about the same as a 6.0 F350. I'd stay away from early model 6.0's but the later ones are fine, maybe throw on an oil cooler and some other mods for reliability. Some old guy in my hometown has a 7.3 with over 700k miles which isn't surprising for a 7.3 but pretty rare for a 6.0.

    This video is so old. I didn't bother with upgrading the stick turbo on my 7.3. I went straight for a Garrett powermax ball bearing turbo. Yeah it is more expensive and maybe a little outlandish, but it would hold up far better than the modded stock turbo Stacey did here with the mods in this truck.

    What happens/kit for 2000 7.3 with manual trans? Modules? Shift points ect. Also have an OLD 7.3 idi manual. That one seems it's always the acception to the rule. The 2000 has a front leaf arrangement that no one can explain to me. The sprins are not "together " as all of the other leafs I see. The are "spread" front and back. But , they are firmly attached at the bracket top and bottom. Any insight would be highly appreciated. Thank you.

    @ruaridh66 yep. 215 at 3k rpm. no intercooler, not much boost. not much fuel. made to pull, not go fast. this rig can eb updated.. intercooler and more fuel. you can make 300 hp and 500 torque. easy if you update it.

  • @nb117
    @nb117 7 лет назад

    Well the SD are a bit easier to get the turbo out but far from " Take this bolt loose and Viola! its out" like this guy shows it. Try that on a 95 7.3. 4 bolt exhaust flange with 2 bolts you cant even see. Then add Rust and heat/cool about a thousand times. Then you have 4 10mm bolts underneath the damn pedestal to wrench out 1/8 turn at a time. God forbid you want to take out the pedestal also. 2 bolts easy to get too. 1 is hidden under the exhaust flange behind the EPBV valve body. The other one is on the other end of the EPBV valve body and no room to get a socket on it. If I ever have to work on another OBS turbo its with a Sawzall.

      a stock 6.7 makes about 320/670, a tuned 7.3 makes about 310/675. So they are in the same ballpark. Diesel hasn't changed all that much, high pressure common rail fuel is what sets the new trucks apart. However, the HEUI system on the 7.3 can still support 1000+ hp

    I was saying that you can't buy a 6.4 as cheap as you can buy a 01 dmax like mine and make it fast. You can make a 6.4 run like crazy but the cost of the truck alone, I can build a dmax that will be just as fast. I have $20,000 now in my 01 dmax and thats including the cost of the truck. Built tranny, efilive,and exhaust. Thats it. And that spartan 310 tune is gonna chew that stock tranny to pieces if its ran for any period of time. And you're gonna need to upgrade the fuel system too.

    Subaru didn't lend stacy a suv truck car because they knew he'll beat the crap out of it when testing it on his tv show. ..

    Getting the turbo out of an F series is as easy as unbolting it? I just lost all respect for him.

      the only hard part is getting heat welded clamps off...other than that its just about as easy as unbolting it....considering you are mechanically inclined..

      Ive gotten it down to about an hour or a bit more depending on how bad those exhaust clamps fight me. Agree though, its not hard, but its a pain in the ass and you definitely need to have some wrenching experience. Far from "un bolt it"

    Ive got a total of $1500 of performance in my truck. I bought the truck for 11 grand. To do that with a 6.4 Powerstroke it would cost around 35 grand. I will agree, 6.4 power strokes run like raped apes, but give me 40 grand and i can build the meanest dmax on earth

    What the hell was wrong with stock?! Your spending $3000+ for only 85 or so hp and if you're in that big of a damn hurry buy a car. Plus, its just more shit to go wrong. It just doesn't seem practical to me.

    that truck has never been turned on before to have the exhaust housing and turbine wheel that clean with absolutly no soot on it. ford has to be the worst company for cramming everything in the engine compartment so close that you cant work on it. chev is close second by having their turbo smashed in the back but not near as bad as the ford then dodge has the most room except for working on the rear 2 cylinders on the cummins is a bag to access.

    i dont need a powerpack to pull a bobcat.

    • @Icutmetal

      Make whatever claim you want while you keep your head in the sand, but your truck is a turd. I had a ‘97 F350 with a ZF5 and 460 that I recently sold with 41,000 original miles. It was a fuel thirsty gutless pig. I also had a clean 1995 F150 with the 351, which I had bored & stroked to a 393. Both great trucks, but don’t fool yourself- they were and are no match for the power of any modern diesel, even this older 7.3. You’re living in dream land.
