Martin what a great project to watch,as yet way above my skill level and above my budget on tools etc but great ideas to put forward on smaller turnings. Thanks for being so informative
Nice seeing a combination of techniques together in one piece. I can see the owner of it regularly changing the face according to mood or preferences. Nothing boring here!
Hello Martin thank you taking us along on your journey with this piece. It was fantastic to see you adlib as your trial piece evolved it was so as it would be in our workshops at any time. Loved your honesty about liking one face over the other. As you indicated you learn so much doing trial turnings like this one. I really enjoyed your video and for its encouragement to get out into our workshops and be creative Kind Regards Col
1. Blue ripple 2. Pyrography 3. Green / Yellow 4. Copper patina Overall I really liked the idea. I recall seeing Robby the Wood Turner do one of these a few years back and it's been on my to do list since then. Just have to get a lathe that can go more than a 6" diameter...
Thats amazing, more difficult than it looks I imagine having to keep an eye on each previous side completed as not to ruin them. Excellent work Martin.
You've done it again. A fabulous piece that will inspire others to have a go. I agree with Ice Guy's comment that it would look good if mounted on three spindles on a single base so that each piece could rotate.
Interesting project and it could be developed as far as imaginations would go. I like the idea of mounting them on spindles to rotate them to show interesting combinations or even run them electrically to constantly stop and start with different combinations. Thanks James
Very cool. I just got back into turning about 6 months ago and am looking for new things to try and this is definitely going on the list. I've never seen one of them before it's amazing. And for as good as you are with colors and dyes you should try your take on a tie-died/hippy bowl I think it would look amazing. Very nice job again and watching you add colors to this or the lacquer bowl (you accidently dropped onto the lathe bed and had to redo) is truly a work of art. Its so neat to see how you blend the colors and make them all play as well as they do off of each other thank you for all the tips and things I've learned watching your videos so far and you definitely got a new subscriber for sure!
This is really cool! 4 pieces of art in 1. Watching this video I got a better sense of using color in our art and also learned a bit of how to apply dies to enhance the depth of the rings on a project. Nice!
Carl Jacobsen was wearing a tee shirt a while back that said: "You're weird, I like you." I feel that way about you Martin. You come up with some strange pieces from time to time and about half way through the project I begin to wonder why I am watching. Then at the finish I am glad I did. The strange usually becomes quite interesting. As did this. I am thankful for folks like you as without them the world would be a bit bland. Thank you for sharing and please stay healthy.
I love the finished piece Martin. The green side wasn't my favourite ...until the the metal was rubbed off...it looks like it is showing through the green rather than on the top somehow. It reminded me of The Fifth Element film.
Really interesting Martin. Good to explore a range of ideas and techniques here. How about making two bowls identical in size and shape, finishing differently and the cutting and switching halves to make a set of two?
Hi Martin Is that an original design of your own? When you first said what you were doing for some reason I imagined they would have a spindle in each piece so they could be rotated like on a stand. I am not sure what you think of that idea it could be amusing. All the best Eric.
Love watching your videos but I don't have any kind of space to do any type of woodwork my wife has taken up all the space in 2 sheds and a garage with her junk
@@msabansmith Might it be worth canvassing other fans/followers/viewers opinions on their most favourite piece you've made? I'm sure you'd get a huge response. Mine might be that shield you made some years ago. Just an idea. :-)

Love this remarkable unique project Martin. Thank you. Opens up so many new turning opportunities.

Really like this Martin, so many different combinations possible! Another to add to my list of future project ideas!

Fascinating to watch. As you know I have held and seen it, and it is so much better now that I have seen the detail of how it was done. Wonderful.
Always wanted to make one of these. That came out fantastic Martin 👍

That is a lot of technique in one project. Definitely, going to share this with some wood turners I know.

Very different and very spectacularly arty piece, love it!
What amazing piece. I've not seen anything like that before.
A very clever design, it does you credit. Absolutely love it ❤️😍.
That is incredible. Will definitely have to try that in the future.
Hi there. 5 minutes in just wanted to say thanks for the clamps and standing clear of rotation at the drill press. Keep up the good work.
Brilliant mate, just been playing catch-up so I've spent this morning watching the lives I missed! Keep safe Martin👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍😎
Nice idea and nice explanation as to how to achieve this with great results
cheers
Rob

Nicely done Martin..Interesting piece...and a great video
Another great piece Martin, I will be having a go at this.
I like it because it's unique appeal and that you can mix or match whatever way around. Lovely piece mate and a great video.
The dynamic oracles of Delphi . Cheers .
Beautifull! I like this idea..
Very nice. You are very creative!
Really enjoyed watching this, Martin. A great way to bring colouring techniques to a different form other than a bowl or platter. Nice work!
Great project martin top job mate 👍
tHIS IS SO INFORMATIVE LOVE IT,,
Excellent work
Beautiful
I think that it would look cool if they were each mounted on a centered spindle so that they could be rotated on a base.
Love it, i tryed a project similar as this but completly aborded, hum your project il quitte fine maybe i try it again !
Thanks teach!
Interest piece Martin and quiet effective. I have not got into guilding yet....Well done mate..
HI Martin , not your usual turning , seems you are drifting off to new ideas ,like it, like your steam -punk platter a while back,,. Regards Alf
Interesting project Martin, I quite like the idea, but like you a couple of sides I'm not too sure about, but it's hard to truly tell in a video.
Really interesting Martin. Good to explore a range of ideas and techniques here. How about making two bowls identical in size and shape, finishing differently and the cutting and switching halves to make a set of two?
I forgot to ask you where do you order that metal leaf and the adhesive for it? Thank you

Love watching your videos but I don't have any kind of space to do any type of woodwork my wife has taken up all the space in 2 sheds and a garage with her junk
I had to be contrary didn't I and really like the Green and gilt side
I do appreciate your commitment, enthusiasm, talent and ideas, but: I'm not quite sure about this one. Opinion reserved on this, I think, Martin. :-)
Yeah...same here. Oddly, it looks better with the sides mixed up!
