Man, this film looks waaaaaay better in Black and White. Not just the mood looks improved, but the Black and White actually aids the CGI. I have to see it like this now. But then . . . that ending does make me feel like pulling out my veins
I loved this short story so my husband took me to see it for date night about three weeks after our son was born. With the gut punch that was the ending, I was sitting in a pool of tears and breast milk by the time the lights came up. Great review, as always!
Everything this man does is pure gold...so many great lines, but my favorite was the quick and subtle Mr. Krabs 'money!' when the crustacean-ey alien legs were walkin'
One thing everyone needs to take on board: In an apocalyptic survival situation, anyone who starts spouting religious BS is not to be trusted and must be removed from the equation immediately. _The more you know!_
My brother and I watched this together years ago and even though it ripped our hearts out, we absolutely loved the ending song and when I heard it in the background of your intro I was just like YES
This movie made me feel so betrayed. I had read the story and therefor was convinced the main characters would make it, although their fate is uncertain. The ending was like twice the shock for me.
I can’t believe I’ve never noticed this after all the times I’ve watched this film, but at 1:11 among all of the artwork there’s a poster for The Thing front and center
I remember the first time I watched this movie. It was with my grandma. No don't judge me, she picked the movie out herself. After the last scene, I remember I was just silent with my mouth open thinking what the heck did I just watch. Then my grandma shouts "Wasn't that great? I love this movie!" I guess I get my love for horror movies from her!
My grandparents were like that. My grandpa actually wrote a lot of tales from the crypt type stories. Never published them. But I use to enjoy reading them. My mom threw them away after his death. I was so mad I would of taken all of them!
This movie has everything: Hentai tentacles, hail hydra, captain Holt, a badass granny, spiders with Xenomorph blood, a Karen, Kaju and Squite game 🤣🤣🤣 Love your comments 😋
when you whispered Hail Hydra I almost fell out of my chair lol - also I never caught that fact that the mist went away after the death of the two that crazy lady called to be sacrificed, even though I've seen this movie about 10 times, thank you for pointing that out
One of King's favorite themes is "how people will behave once isolated and scared". See Under the Dome. This movie has the most heart wrenching ending! The TV show, The Mist was quite excellent as well, too bad it didn't last.
Apparently, “adaption” is technically a word the same way “conversate” is a word…so I will try my hardest not to go crazy out of respect for how much I enjoy this channel!
It's very rare for American movies to not have a happy ending, so this is a breath of fresh air. Sometimes the stories you come across need to end badly, it helps you to deal with defeat in real life, it mobilises you and pushes you to solve problems. Most stories that have a happily ever after don't lead you to be a better person. But these, where shit gets wrecked, they do.
Can't stand that. I started noticing that as a teen and it takes all tension out of certain films when you know certain people are completely safe. When I first watched the movie vanilla sky I was blown away and it gave me serious existential dread. I then found out that it wasn't actually an American film..I should have known better.
Love this review of the mist and it was hilarious all the way through and loved the Seth rogen laugh 😂 you are a genius with these reviews keep it up 😁👍👏
I have worked at both a grocery store and at a department store, and they are lots of fun to get locked in at night. The grocery store had a deli area where we could use the appliances to prepare our meals. It was sort of fun to try out new foods regularly, but I never got used to eating supper at three in the morning. The department store had non-perishable foods, and a hardware department that would be handy. As for Oreos, we had two aisles of cookies, and even more if it was close to Christmas or Easter.
That was brilliant, loved it when you kept playing her death over and over. Speaking of black and white editions though, would you consider doing Mad Max: Fury Road: black and chrome?
Omg - I knew I recognised that guy, it’s the Sherminater lol AND I know half the cast of The walking dead is in this too but I did not realise that included Morales!! Holy shit love this film - fab vid 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Once again theNewBee comes with an excellent "riff" review, and now I'm hoping he'll riff review that other "misty" movie titled "The Fog" starring "Jamie Lee Curtis," "Janet Leigh" and "Adrian Barbeau"😉
I really appreciate your encouragement to “comment your little heart out.” I started doing that in the past few months after getting fully comfortable with knowing how the algorithm works a lil bit
Happy Halloween everyone!!.....and thank you for doing a movie based on a Stephen King Story!!! (However, we "Constant Readers" know which "based on a Stephen King Story"movie was the real horror....The Dark Tower) Great job Tom! For this Halloween, my costume consists on pink pj' s and my kindle. I am an introvert who binges The Newbee videos. Great costume...needs to be marketed :) (Just don't forget the peanut M&Ms as a side prop! We all need snacks...until the acid web spitting spiders come along) Enjoy y'all!
I have never seen a film with such a gut punch ending. It tears into you. It was like one of those monsters got me. I was kinda bored by Thomas Jane's performance but his acting at the end was amazing!
@@Altaire86 the costumes were really good - because they were practical effects (like the movies from th 80s). Plus the soldier characters were all good and relatable to a degree too (except the one Liam Cunningham played, lol). You really liked these guys and understood who they were, and cared when they died lol. It’s probably one of the best werewolf movies I’ve seen short of Howling or American Werewolf. It harkened back to the more authentic 80s horrors I feel, where everything was practical and not digital and there was more quality over quantity of scares.
"The Shermanator"... for this one reference, I am double-liking the video! Also: I adhere to the sacrificial lamb theory. The boy had to die as a sacrifice to the Todash space creatures in order for the rift to close back and the mist to dissipate.
My all-time favorite horror movie; though not one I reccommend to just anyone. The end messed me up for days. I do believe that in any scenario such as depicted, people are the worst danger.
Thanks for the great review! Netflix turned this into a short lived episodic show that didn't receive positive reviews, although I personally enjoyed it somewhat.
Sex isn't supposed to be terrifying? Also I still prefer the short story ending, which doesn't end with them happily heading off into the mist. They come across a giant tentacle across the road and it ends with the implication that they kill themselves. NO HAPPY ENDING OF THE MIST FADING.
Dude! I love this movie! When it came out, one of my friends literally stayed in when there was fog outside! Keep in mind, we're both 40 now! I still give him hell!
The only part that annoyed me in this movie is how did that lady who left her kids at home make it all the way home in the Mist? When almost everybody who set foot out of that store was eaten before they even got to their car??. Other than that I love this movie it's a classic
15:00 you ARE corrected - it is just one of the many "unfortunately conclusions" that many people found, including "if you don´t have faith in the US army you deserve to die", the contempt look of the women who would shout to find their kids (even though she should be dead), and many other problems because Garabond created the ending BEFORE even having a movie. It really emphasises the atmosphere of the mist itself as well.
I heard it was originally supposed to be shot in b&w but they decided against it (probably bc of the creatures)
I thought it was better.

I loved the review, this is one of my favourite movies! The ending was truly soul-destroying, such a punch to the gut.
We had tickets to see this movie early in the theatre, and when they shot the crazy zealot woman, the theatre erupted in applause and cheering
I would have too 😀
Lol, I bet!
Cutting Rogen's laugh in is genius editing!!
Best joke.
It should be in the actual movie.

This guy is an anchor to our innocence in a really demonic world, and a landmark in cinematic analysis. A modest but mighty art-intellect.
This is the only movie based on a Stephen King story that I can't watch all the way to the end and the only one that's ever made me want to cry.

One of the rare cases where i appreciated the movie on the same level as the book. BRAVISSIMO!!!
The ending that music the dead can dance it was also in Baraka that tank at the end got me the first time I saw it
I feel the exact same way about the end....wish I could wipe the last 5 minutes from the movie or end after the Lovecraftian behemoth lumbering by.
Ollie was a beast. The hero they needed but didn't deserve (since they were mostly asses to each other)Rip.
