      Wrong! I'm not a big fan of either guy. But Peyton had Sanders, Freeny, Mathis, Edge Wayne, Harrison, & Clark and he would lose wild card games to San Diego, Pittsburg, Jets...even with that win Peyton is still 13-13 all time in the playoffs with 6 one and done loses. Despite what everyone is saying Brady was a 2 PT conversion from going to OT. lol

      +Ben Unanaowo Bob Sanders? seriously? The injury prone guy? Freeney and Mathis were good but they are not hall of fame guaranteed. Look at all the hall of fame worthy guys that played on the Pats. Steelers? you mean when Vanderjagt miss the FG while Brady had Vinateri? Jets, ah. You mean when Caldwell called timeout for no reason while the colts had the lead and the jets had no timeout. Chargers you mean when the Special team was terrible when the KR mishandled the ball and nobody could tackle Sproles.

    • @benjaminunanaowo2929
      @benjaminunanaowo2929 8 лет назад +11

      malkoLinge2080 so you one of those Peyton apologist.
      Who's fault was it when Peyton lost 41-0 to the Jets in 2001? What about the chargers loss where Sproles out scored him?
      Before Vanderjaget missed that difficult 47+ yd FG I remember Manning blowing a FG attempt by waving the special teams off and missing a 4th down throw earlier in the quarter. I also remember him having the refs take an INT away from Troy P on some BS.
      Wayne Harrison Saturday all HOF players and Edge is borderline because Manning didn't give him the ball in the playoffs.
      The only SB Peyton ever won he threw more INT'S then TD'S in the post season. And Mr. Sanders and those pass rushers along with a running game won him a SB.
      Point is when prep out ways being clutch in the regular season against the AFC South and AFC West he's great. When the game tightens up and teams give their all he wiltered. Stop making excuses. Farve did everything he did without stability, HOF offensive players, and playing when the NFL didn't pamper QB's.
      Peyton in 13-13 what excuse did you have for the SEA game ?

    • @malkoLinge2080
      @malkoLinge2080 8 лет назад +2

      +Ben Unanaowo Wasn't there fumbles and missed FG in that Jets game? Manning didn't give Edge the ball and he led the league in rushing in the first two years ? and had 1,000 yards? Come on man!!! lol Sanders only played 4 games the superbowl year lool Favre? Favre man? The guy who has the most Ints ever and gave a games aways. Favre won a SB because of Reggie White and Desmond Howard. The drama king. I have excuses for SEA . The Sea defense. It was great. Did you see Decker getting open?

      Uh seattle had one of the best defenses of all-time? And usually the team with the better defense wins the game cus defense wins championships. Unless that defense plays with tom brady of course lol.
      Oh yah, brady had the best coach of all-time his whole career. Peyton has been coached by goobers. He's taken 4 different coaches to the superbowl, and 2 of them during their first year with the team. Peyton has done things no other player has done.
      Wow brady is just like starr, bradshaw, montana, magic, mj, kobe, duncan. He's talented, best coach, stacked team, of course he got a lot of rings. It happens every decade in every sport..

      @Adam Castagnetti Doesn't choke! How about when they were 18-0! Tom Brady was mad because Plexico predicted 20-17 victory and Brady laughs "he only giving us 17" Well 17pts was too many as they only scored 10. CHOKE! Even in last year's SB Patriots offense was awful. Not really should I hate on Brady though because he is truly great but Manning in my opinion was equally as great as an individual.

    • @beright714
      @beright714 5 лет назад

      @Adam Castagnetti He? Or do you mean Patriots? If Vinitari misses the kicks in the first few SB does that make Brady a lesser QB. If Eli doesn't make a miracle play and Julian Edleman catches a long pass at end of another SB does that make Brady better somehow. Answer is obviously no. Brady is great because you can see that. We like the media lose logic when it comes to sports. You can certainly make the case for Brady being the best ever but titles shouldn't be the main reason. Look at Manning's team record win he doesn't play vs Brady's. It's staggering. Belichick was so afraid of Manning that he went against all logic and went for it on 4th deep in his own territory to avoid Peyton which cost his team the game. Ultimate sign of respect.

    Thank you Shannon Sharpe. I have been saying this for years. When Peyton was putting up stats, it didn't matter because he lost the games. Now he is winning games without the stats, it is flipped. People need to go back to see how many yards Brady had when he was winning all the superbowls.

    • @777zippy777
      @777zippy777 8 лет назад +6

      +malkoLinge2080 : All right then, in his four SB wins, Brady threw for 145, 354, 236 and 328 yards. There you go.
      As far as defenses go, you're right-- neither Brady nor Manning have won a SB without a good/great/solid defense. But for some reason, there's a general perception of Brady being "clutch" and Manning being a "choker".
      And we might actually be able to compare the reactions to a complete and utter Brady debacle with a complete and utter Peyton debacle, if what I think is going to happen in SB 50 happens.
      IS Brady getting any kind of "free pass" for his horrid performance vs Denver yesterday? Or is his "legacy in tatters"? I myself haven't heard one word about Brady's legacy today. I guess that must be reserved for winning and losing SBs...

    • @malkoLinge2080
      @malkoLinge2080 8 лет назад +5

      Thank you for the stats but if you read my sentences clearly. I was not saying only superbowls. I said when he was winning all the superbowls. I am talking about the other playoffs games also. My main point was that Brady's teammates plays have always been overlook while he would make 1 or two great plays. Don't get me wrong, he is great. He is just not that better than Manning as People(ESPN) claim.

    • @777zippy777
      @777zippy777 8 лет назад +3

      +malkoLinge2080 : Ah, I guess I misunderstood the line "go back to see how many yards Brady had when he was winning all the super bowls". I assumed you were just referring to the super bowls.
      Well, pretty much every all-time great QB's teammates' plays have been overlooked in their SB wins. I mean, unless it's the same Steel Curtain defense for the entire run (1974-79) or an Emmitt Smith (1992-95) or a slew of HOFers ('60s Packers), then yeah, the QB is going to get the lion's share of the attention-- i.e. "credit". That's just how it is in the NFL. Always has been for the most part.
      I don't know though... judging from what I've seen in the last 12 months, I don't think ESPN is exactly the Tom Brady Fan Club....

    • @ealfaro2861
      @ealfaro2861 8 лет назад +4

      exactly malkoLinge! in the 2000's it was always determined by the most complete team and not individual performance. When Tom Brady won he didn't throw for 300-400 yards all the time he around 240 or lower. He had some game with just a single TD or two. It was the defensive scheme and player from Bellichick and Seymour, Bruschi, Law, Harrison, Willie McGinnest, Vrabel that won those games. Not Tom.

But you don't have to look mainly at rings to define Jordan's all time greatness either. The man did it all with virtually no weaknesses in his game. He then repeated that performance in the Super Bowl and walked away a winner. That 2016 AFC win for Peyton was wrapped up and delivered to his doorstep. His other AFC wins over NEW and Brady were games he played well in and led his teams to victory...

    When he was winning games and not putting up Numbers, he had 1st Round Offensive Talent.

      +Chris Kavanagh In the 2001 super bowl correct Brady was much of a game manager, pretty sure he just had a TD and a pick (he also had an incredible drive to set up the gw field goal), but in the next two super bowls he played very well and was at least as much of a factor as the defense was. Also his defenses were never GREAT outside of a year or two, he's had a consistently better defense (by about 4 ranks for both points and yards) but Manning has had a consistently way better receiving core. If you switch up teams and keep all other factors the same, Manning maybe gets two rings by the end of 2010. Brady definitely gets 2 or 3 rings by 2010 and has wayyy more yards, tds, and still way fewer INTs. Brady is better than Manning that's just the way it is.

While on the other the gap between the offenses was simply enormous. Manning had multiple hall of fame players on his offense for the majority of his career as well as multiple hall of fame players on defense for his career, while brady only had moss and gronk as far as definite hall of famers on his offense.

So give him a hall of fame WR for as long as manning had and imagine what his numbers might look like. Manning had a core of addai/Harrison/Wayne/Clark while Brady had Dillon/brown/Caldwell/watson. • @orionsghost9511
    @orionsghost9511 5 лет назад +1

    Brady deserves credit for what he does bring to the Patriots, but unfortunately he also ends up getting credit for what other guys bring. If you watch the tape of all of the SB's he's been in, most of the passing first downs by the Pats have been converted via the runner getting yards after the catch - often making a break tackle, cut, or drag - while QB's like Montana and Peyton Manning converted a high percentage of passing first downs at the point of the target, before any additional run after catch. Montana also converted an average of 2 to 3 runs per SB for first downs.
    Manning and Montana were also superior at handling pressure and minimizing sacks. Tom's ability to be a very effective game manager and short pass specialist has helped keep sacks under control to a degree, but when the pressure does start to come he typically gets flustered, as we saw in the two SB's against the Giants, and even to some degree in the opening SB against the Ram's, which the New England defense deserved MVP honors for (Tom threw for just 145 yards), dramatically slowing down The Greatest Show On Turf.
    Defense is a bigger reason why any of these guys won the SB's they did win, and Tom enjoyed strong defenses about as much as any QB in the last 20 years (as well as consistently incredible special teams). No one player has enough value to override weaknesses on defense, and even a whole offense full of weapons has rarely seen the SB without at least a mid-line defense. As a matter of fact, to close this, Peyton Manning just so happens to be the only QB in history to win the SB with a team that had a bottom 10 defense during the regular season (2006).

    Peyton carried very, very flawed teams. When you take Soft, Dome teams and you put them in the Cold vs a physical, well coached Defense guess what happens.... Tony Dungy was a glorified mediocre Defensive Coordinator. Marvin Harrison was the SOFTEST WR I've ever seen that constantly got BITCHED by Ty Law. His Defense was pretty good with a 10-17 point lead, but when you force them to be honest against the run (Against Corey Dillon) they are very below average. Peyton was the ONLY reason the Colts were as successful as they were. Yes Peyton is the BEST Regular Season QB ever, but Super Bowl Championships are team accomplishments. This is all you need to know: In 2001, against St. Louis. They faced the Greatest Show on Turf after a Bye Week, in a Dome, and held them to 10 points through 3 quarters. That's the type of Defenses Brady had with him for the first 3-5 years of his career.

The only thing that he did himself was the final drive and only because the Rams were stupid enough to go soft on defense and give him everything underneath allowing him to pick it apart. Other than that everything that happened that day was made to happen by the defense setting him up with great field position many times and getting a pick-6 also. Then in the second half the Rams offense started moving the ball and putting all those unanswered points on the board because Brady was practically shut down by the Rams D. If Brady at the time knew how to do anything more than be a system QB it would not have come down to the end like that.

    Throw out the stats. Throw out the other players. Throw out head to head records. Throw out everything. The only way to determine who is better is to look at like this. With 8 mins left in the Super Bowl down 10 against the best defense of a generation (The Seahawks of 13 and 14) who do u want leading your team on a comeback Tom Brady or Peyton Manning? Do you want the guy who pulled that off and led his team to a 28-24 win (yes with some luck at the end but the Seahawks got lucky to be in that spot with the Kearse catch) or the guy who threw up on himself and got pummeled 43-8? I'm taking Brady. I am not a salty Patriots fan I am neutral (lol go Falcons) on this but just watch both play in their respective Super Bowls vs Seattle and tell me which one you'd rather have.

    • @mrravimc
      @mrravimc 8 лет назад +9

      To be fair, Seattle was beat The fuck up physically. They weren't healthy at all, yet Seattle still would've won had they just given Marshawn Lynch the ball.

    • @59markEmark
      @59markEmark 8 лет назад +5

      Aquil S Sherman and Thomas while battling injuries where out their playing against the patriots and played well so injuries aren't an excuse. Also not to mention that yes the Patriots got lucky in that game but Seattle was lucky to be in the position because of the Kearse catch. Also even if Lynch scores in that spot it wouldn't have taken away what Brady had done in that game.

      Please, the 2013 defense was much better than the 2014 version. The defense they won the Superbowl with were ball hawks, compiling 28 interceptions that year. Compared to their 2014 counterpart that only managed 13 interceptions.

    Manning upper hand in playoffs? Manning has the most loses in playoff in history. Shannon is over here nut hugging Peyton just because Manning plays for his former team. Now, you want to on the Manning bandwagon? Manning has played like horse shit all year and was benched because of that. Hell would turn to ice if Brady was ever benched in favor of another QB. Not to mention, Broncos are in a super bowl DESPITE of Peyton Manning. That defense is only real threat on that team. Lets get real, the Broncos played a near perfect game against an injured Patriots team and barely won by two points, but I digress, let's give Manning all the credit for this season even though he played like shit and was benched. I should should ignore those facts.

    • @PsychoMantis04
      @PsychoMantis04 8 лет назад

      TheKaptainBob "But now that they've been eliminated they were in retrospect nothing more than an injured shell of what they could be." The Patriots have had 3'rd string offensive lineman in rotation for most of this season. So when you typed something like "
      Funny how the narrative leading up to the AFCCG was that the Patriots were getting healthy" Perhaps that was your narrative or your prerogative.
      It's as if you're insinuating that this team (meaning New England) hasn't been losing games due to injured WR's and a decimated offensive line.
      "hitting their stride at the perfect time for a successful SB run" What were you watching were you assumed their "hitting their stride"? Elaborate.

    Brady OL.. Got demolished, specially off the edge. Broncos dealing with a entirely different Offensive juggernaut , panthers run game is virtually unstoppable with all the different formation sets to run the ball.. Smh the broncos didn't see a bit of that from the pats who can't run period. The broncos n Payton he's thrown so manny over thrown balls against the pats. When he gets blitz and he forces the ball panthers might score 14 PTS solely on D. What makes this even more painful this coming Super Bowl Payton can't run or by time in that pocket.. Russell Wilson went down just as bad maybe not as much sacks but the struggle to score was so real.. That pats vs bronco game was really about which team makes to the Super Bowl is going to get it even worse from the panthers cuz the NFC is more tougher conference on both sides of the ball and the panthers D this season is as tuff as they come.. Just ask Mr. Wilson and that Seahawks O is no joke either .

    Manning = 3-8 in OT. Brady = 12-4
    Game winning drives in the postseason: Manning 2 Brady 11
    In the second half and overtime of SBLI, Brady was 27 of 36 for 282 yards and two touchdowns on his way to setting Super Bowl records for passing yards, completions, and attempts. That’s more yards than Manning threw for in three of his four Super Bowls.
    In 4 Super Bowls Peyton Manning NEVER led a SINGLE scoring drive in the 4th quarter (unless you count his Pick-6 to Tracy Porter). Not even a measly FG. Tom Brady has led the Patriots to 77 after the 3rd quarter of the Super Bowl, including 14 in the final 8 minutes against Seattle and 3 TDs in his final 3 drives of SBLI.
    Manning in Super Bowls: 3 TDs, 5 INTs, 77 rating
    Tom Brady: 15 TDs, 5 INTs, 97 rating.
    Peyton lost 6 HOME GAMES in the postseason. That is an NFL record. Brady has a winning record in the playoffs when on the road or at a neutral site. Manning has a record of 4-7 in such situations.
    Let's hear Shannon talk about those numbers.

    Belichick feared and game planned for Manning. No coach did that for Brady. Brady was a great QB with an even greater (and sometimes cheating) franchise. Manning was the greatest QB carrying garbage into the playoffs.
    Sharpe is exactly right: when Brady won their first two playoff meetings, everyone gave Brady the credit over Manning, despite their surrounding cast. They talked about Manning in the regular season vs. Brady in the playoffs. When Manning won their last 3 meetings in the playoffs, everyone changed the narrative to, "Well, the surrounding cast..." and, "Their regular season meetings count too!"
    Brady had hall-of-fame offensive lines and top 5 defenses every single year. Plus a coach who was the wrinkle of all wrinkles in a game plan, and an organization where players 30 through 53 were lights out in the post season. Manning had 1 or 2 stars around him who were easy to game plan out (Freemey, Harrison), always injured (Sanders, Addai, Clark), or simply overachievers (Saturday, Stokely, Garcon). Not to mention a carousel of coaches who frequently cost him games, and mediocre players who put him in terrible situations. Defenses that couldn't get off the field, sometimes for 47 out of 60 minutes of game clock; Special Teams that gave up 160 return yards per game...
    Manning is the greatest QB of all-time. There is no debate. Brady is a great QB in a system that everyone who plays there buys into. Now he's on a young, talented team with a couple of veteran FA's and an excellent defense lucking his way through to the NFC Championship game.
