I totally saw a huge difference in everyone's fighting skill improvement. But Gianni really killed it this season. I saw a huge difference in his physical stature and skill.
Well it's called acting lol..... I'm sure they're actually getting better..... The Dimitri was an excellent example about how you can see the strides he improved

Tanner and Jacob were great fighters this season, but Peyton is seriously underrated and so is Mary.. Mary killed it in the final episode

I would say Tanner, is the better martial artist, his choreography dance background would add more intensity and maneuverability to his style of fighting, which would make him more fluid.

I feel like you don’t know Jacob’s past and are saying this from what you’ve heard but if you know both they’re full backgrounds Jacob has more history with stuff like this so he picked it up the fastest I feel but tanner is definitely awesome
Peyton List is great as Tory. She really sells that she can kick anyone's ass, male or female. A tragic character that I hope finds her way to a better life.
Mike Barnes is her dad tho...
Tory was the one who I think did the most growing up in season 4. Strangely helped by Amanda showing her that the world wasn't just out to get her and that people are willing to help if she just asked. You could see by the final episode that while still her badass self, she actually has softened slightly when she seemed genuinely concerned for Sam's wellbeing after the match winning kick to the stomach. And I think that will develop further in Season 5 as she'll probably end up telling Amanda that Silver bribed the tournament referee.

The fight choreography has definitely improved. The tournament fights were dope, with long takes and the camera stayed with the fights, with not much jump cutting. I would say that Demetri has changed the most. His fight was cool, and you believed that he really could compete. Compare that with how he first showed up and it's a huge improvement for his character.
Yeah Demetri did improve alot! He almost gave Robbie a run for his money. That was cool to watch. I agree to the choreography is way better even with the stunt doubles switching in and out. I could hardly tell at times who was who compared to previous seasons.

Xolo didn't got the attention which he deserves he is a great actor and in S4 we didn't got to see much of Miguel's fights which should've been there. Damn the boy in very talented and deserves to get more opportunities
He was the main character for the first 3 seasons, so naturally they're giving other characters the chance to get more screentime.

So definitely he was missed. But I think his trip finding his dad will ignite his winning again
Honestly because he's still technically recovering from being paralyzed I think it's pretty fair he doesn't fight a whole lot this season
He will be highlighted in season 5 with his search for his dad
Thomas Ian Griffith is a 1st degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do
Jacob Bertrand is a purple belt in Karate
Tanner Buchanon is a green belt in tae Kwon do and a muay thai practitioner
These are definitely the three best martial artists in the cast
And William Zabka is a 2nd degree green belt in Karate.
Of course if we took everyone who's been in the show then Bobby Brown (Ron Thomas) would be top as he is a 6th degree black belt in Jiu-Jitsu.
@@paulmccloud9395 ... Sorry but Bobby (Ron) wouldn't be the highest rank ever in the series. That would go the original main tournament referee, Pat E. Johnson who is a 9th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do (technically he's probably equal to Jackie Chan who holds multiple black belts plus is a Kung Fu Grand Master, but Cobra Kai is more about the original trilogy than Chan's involvement).
It was Johnson who actually recognized during filming for the original movie that Ron Thomas wasn't quite the martial arts novice that the rest of them were. From there he actually let Thomas pretty much coordinate his own fight scenes knowing that Ron knew what he was doing.
Tanner was brown belt in taekwondo
Morgan, the geeky blonde kid in Cobra Kai, is actually a karate blackbelter, and has been doing karate for 9 years. He’s the real life highest rank in martial arts amongst the “kids” cast.
Thomas Ian Griffith also holds a black belt in kenpo as well
@@paulmccloud9395 There was a video by a martial arts writer which talks about how BJJ or MMA doesn't really seem to exist in the Cobra Kai universe, I'm guessing (and I say this as someone who trains bjj and capoeira) because BJJ isn't as visual as some of the other martial arts. There was the deleted scene and the royce gracie reference (which I popped for) but not much else.
I love Mary and Peyton. Tory and Sam are really carrying on the show's spirit of rivalry, lol, but I would love to see them become genuine friends at the end of everything. Tory seems to be progressing with not being so angry all the time, and Sam is learning to control her own anger, so maybe they'll reconcile in season 5.

@Nancy Playz games Stop dunking on Sam for no reason. Sam has a problem with controlling her emotions, while Tory had genuine issues with rage. Amanda even made it a condition when she helped her family that she get professional help for her aggression. I think both characters have journeys to take, but Tory was unequivocally more unstable, as proven by her murder attempt at the school and her invasion of the LaRusso house.

Robby is not my favorite character, even thou he is growing on me after season 4. But Tanner seems like the most skillful to me. Speed, power and skills.
Tanner has power but he's got some muscle so I don't think he's the fastest for what I've seen I think jacob has more skill

I think Johnny is my favorite, but Robby is definitely a great character and man, that heart to heart he had with Johnny in the finally was so powerful. This season was brilliant when it comes to Robby. The way he takes Kenny under his wing and his overall demeanor against the people he doesn't want to hurt, makes it obvious that he's not a bad guy. He's just a hurt kid who feels betrayed by the people he loved, and that's why he's lashing out against them. At the end of the day, he's a teenager. It may be hard to forget that because of how good they can fight, but they're still just kids and I'm so glad Robby was finally able to let go of his hatred towards his dad. Really hope they can finally move passed that and start to heal

They were both wearing makeup in this, but yeah the hair looks more natural. I think tory is also supposed to look aggressive in the show, which would explain why she looks better irl

Its always great to hear bitter and bad rivals on screen are really good friends and support each other IRL and can switch it on and off for the job. It makes for great chemistry between the characters

i think Tanner & Peyton have very solid skills, the way they execute their styles are full of confidence & so real, especially Tanner, his moves are all about focus, you can tell from his eyes that he is well-focused, i think he should have won the fight, not that i tolerate him being "a bad guy", but i think he is just so great.....and super cute! 🤍 anyway, they're all so great they all deserve to win, even the "bad guys"! 😆🤣 i love Sam's new moves, especially against Tori, but her execution lacked confidence, but i would love to see more of the style.......Mary and Peyton, you're both beautiful and gorgeous, and very talented

From my own martial arts background, Tanner always looked to have the best form, foot work and strength in his strikes/parries out of the younger cast.
and I also saw the way he used feints within his footwork,. Found out that his irl trainer teaches him Muay Thai too.

It's hard to say between Jacob and Tanner, the finale of season 4 between Hawk and Robby is in my opinion the best fight in the show, even topping the school fight.
And I’m glad the finals fight is finally between 2 players who actually look like they’re the best martial artists amongst the cast. Like, seriously, I love the Karate Kid movies but always had to suspend disbelief whenever Daniel-san beats his more pro-looking opponents with his ??? form and strikes. 😅
People are really sleeping on Miguel now, he was the first one to win out of any of them and started before them, he beat Robby and then got done dirty when Robby took advantage of Miguel letting him go. Just because he hurt himself doesn’t mean he’s any worse, he’s still for sure the best one and if he didn’t get hurt he would’ve most likely won again.

The show is interesting as unlike the movies this is really an ensemble cast. Each of the characters are integral to the story. Yes, the story focuses on Mary as Samantha and Peyton as Tory more often than not, but it also deals with the trinity of Jacob, Xolo, and Tanner. Gianni is used for comic relief more often than not but they make it all work. Best of all, since it once again is holding out at #1 on Netflix a season 5 is virtually guaranteed a year from now. The writers always said on RUclips they planned 6 seasons overall. My guess, which still stands, is that they will bring on board HIllary Swank before this over - either in season 5 or season 6 if they can.
Xolo as Miguel gets more focus and screen time than Tory and Sam...I don't know why you assume those 2 are the main child characters lol...They're not.
They should bring Jsckie Chan and Jaden Smith too 😂😂😂

Peyton's character reminds me alot of johnny and I hope she gets a really good character evolution in the next couple seasons because, that onions got layers and there is a really good opportunity there for some quality writing ! Maybe even for future spinoffs 🤷♂️

The two legit martial artists on the show are Billy Zabka who trained Tang Soo Do under Chuck Norris's business partner Pat E Johnson (who played the referee and did the fight co ordination in the original movie) and Thomas Ian Griffith who holds 2 black belts one in Kenpo and another in Taekwondo (he competed on the SoCal taekwondo scene for a few years which his part of how he landed the silver part in the first place, when he auditioned for the part in karate kid 3 the producers recognised him from martial arts magazines from where he'd been competing.)

1. Tanner Buchanan (Robby) - brown belt taekwondo (he’s belts higher than Zabka)
2. Jacob Bertrand (Eli/Hawk) - purple belt karate
3. Owen Morgan (Bert) - black belt karate
The correct answer is Ron Thomas the guy who played Bobby. Dudes an actual sensei and martial arts champion.

Thomas Ian Griffith is hands down the best martial artist on the cast.... He is an actual black belt in Tae Kwon Doe, and a legitimate fighter. But I guess this is just for the new generation, so I could easily image Jacob being the better skilled of the bunch.
I've been trying to find out what his background is. You can see even in KK3 he looks like he actually knows something. Then today I saw him spin hook kick a cup and said yeah he's trained in real life

I'm always going to side with Sam and her character because there's always that one girl who targets you at school if not a couple of them because I've been there and before you fight back if you do, you are terrified and the only reason for that rivalry on Tory's perspective was to exert control over her through violence because she had to be top dog. Then, as the series progressed you see how she's taking care of both her Mom and brother and I could start to understand why she's fought back in life to be the provider but instead of finishing trouble because she could, with her strength and conditioning - because a lot of responsibilities have been placed on her young shoulders to make her that fighter - and instead of being an honourable fighter who I'd actually have respect for, she started it. I'm never going to say it's okay for some one to bully another because of their upbringing because we all have pain in our past but you make a choice to basically behave that way towards another person.

Doing martial arts my whole life I can always tell who can fight in real life and who is just a 'movie fighter'. There are a lot of things that gave it away. Tanner and Jacob are the only ones who can actually fight from the crew (as far as the 'kids' I mean, Thomas Ian Griffith is the best otherwise) but I also say this, as far as movie fighting goes, every character has been improving! Much respect!
Thomas impressed me, still got it! Always had nice flashy kicks. Didn't think he would still have the flexibility but he looks decent still. Want to see some more fights from him in S5.

The reason I love this show the most is because most reboots that are made to try and rekindle what happened in the past and pump into the storyline, this has a whole organic taste to something fresh and new with a couple of revamped characters from the original. There is also no underlying agenda beneath the show and that were not having unwarranted wokeism crammed down our throats through out the show. Keep up the great work guys 👍

During season 2 and 3, I loved Sam and hated Tori. Throughout season 4 ot was the other way around. I love how this show has all of its characters go through facets that make the audience root for them and then against them, to the point of having conflicting feelings when each character thrives/fails.
Same here, Season 3 I didn't care for Robbie. Season 4 Robbie is that dude.

I could never love someone even a fictional character who had the idea in her mind to kill someone why did she only tried to kill Sam and picked fight with her Miguel was her boyfriend and he cheated on her Sam was a stranger to her she shouldn’t have done that to her I still don’t like Tory but I understand her Sam is reasonable to hate her but Tory was completely unreasonable for her actions

From the view of a fighter who's been boxing my whole life and a fan of the show since the beginning, I would say Jacob looks the best and most realistic to a real fighter, the way that he moves and his build really looks the most believable on the cast; Tanner looks ok when he's fighting but he's very stiff and doesn't have the fluidity that a real fighter has so he overall ends up looking more choreographed than Hawk does, it also doesn't help that he put on a lot of muscle which makes you stiffer as a fighter, Jacob has more of a typical kickboxing or boxing build and it makes him look more natural and loose. There is a natural rythm to fight movement that's hard to replicate in choreography but Jacob by far looks the most natural when moving and throwing combinations
@Caio Da Silva Barreto it's not the amount of muscle he put on, it's the fact that he put on hypertrophied muscle. A lot of UFC fighters are bigger than him because they have been wrestling their whole lives which is why they are muscular, that's different than Tanner's muscle, his muscle has been gained through high rep lifting for aesthetics because he's an actor and has to look good; MMA fighters have athletic muscle or some are natural mesomorphs which means their body is naturally muscular, that's very different than the type of muscle tanner has. Secondly no, most fighters are built like Jacob, across boxing, Muay Thai, and MMA, the more common build is thin and cut, unless you're fighting in a heavier weight-class

With Sam and Tory though I understand more of their rivalry especially as Tory used that weapon to cut into Sam's arm - if someone did that to me I'd be forever plotting that demise. I'd never forgive, because someone's used a weapon with intent to hurt so I'm totally on Sam's side for that because I can forgive someone who never meant to hurt me or I can put it down to us being kids and being competitive, because that's actually happened to me (although we didn't speak for a year) but if that fight was about her actually trying to cause harm with intent then I'd never be okay with her
if Tanner doesn't use a double... how could you not say Tanner? haha
Thomas Ian Griffith has the best karate skills, in Cobra Kai, because I've heard he is a black belt in both Taekwondo & Kenpo.
I thought it was Japanese kempo but looked it up it's actually American Kenpo he trained under one of ed parker's black belts.
I did karate for 15 years and I have to say, choreography aside, these guys do a great job. Great technique, fitness etc. Obviously it's glamorised for the screen but I'm super impressed and a little jealous 😂

Maybe it's happened in past seasons but in this one for sure, everyone has had the chance to be the bully or villain, and most have been the good guy. It gets old rooting for the same person or group the whole show so it's refreshing to see things flipped around.

As someone who grew up on the 80s movies, I've been totally surprised at how much these young actors pulled me into their storylines. A welcome surprise, btw.
Probably because their stories reflect a lot of what our age group also dealt with when we were kids, and may also still deal with now as adults. Instead of pushing the new and trendy woke, pc agendas onto these characters, the writing really focuses on what most people truly deal with, like bullying, fear and lack of confidence, broken homes and family issues, etc.

One of the few shows my whole family is happy to stop their lives to watch together ♥️ So happy to see Daniel and his family dealing with the rollercoaster that is parenthood. When you think all is well and you're doing everything right, kids throw you a curve ball.
So happy to see Johnny trying to be a better man, better role model, recognizing his mistakes, trying his best to learn from them, and help Robby and Miguel, and Samantha.

The whole middle school thing with Anthony and Kenny can be better explored. The conflicts have got to go beyond the original rivalries. We have got to dig a little deeper and be less predictable. At first it looked promising. Let's get back to the board on that one, shall we?
And the fight scenes are WAY better than some of the supposedly epic but nothing but poorly executed from last season. This time the actions are more that of real fights and less that of a completely choreographed and poorly shot dance. Please make the fights look more real and less obviously choreographed. Plz!!

You can definitely see everyone’s martial arts growth verses S1, I just recapped the other day and it was pretty cool to see the progression. We love referencing fights while we’re training at our dojo too 🤣 I did a nice little Mary quote last night “gotcha ;)” haha!
What an awesome show and cast. Watching this reminds me what it was like to be young. They're all, for the most part, just kids. Funny how when you're at their age you think you know so much and have experienced so much. Let's hope Cobra Kai is just a footnote in these young people's careers and life. Stay grounded....and whatever you do, make sure Miyagi would approve! lol

I love it, season 4 was great! I do feel like each episode is very rushed though, I wish every episode was like the final episode in season 4, in my opinion it was the best episode out of every episode to date. It wasn't rushed, time was spent going in depth on each story line, letting the viewers really connect with the scenes, and characters. So ready for season 5!

Simply just love this show and every season it's gets better. Who knew from karate kid 1-3 that there would ever be more story to tell. The show we never knew we needed or wanted. I just love how all the writing just blends so well. It's hard to pick a favorite but I've always like hawk before and after. Johnny character writing is so dam good as well william zabka. Should even have to mention Daniel son. Just the way they blend the history and introduce new stories is done so well. I've rewatch a few times and did so before season 4. I can't wait to see what season 5 brings.

I have a love hate relationship with Tory. She is stuck up and rude, but at the same time I feel bad for her situation. Towards the last few episodes, she seemed to be changing into a better human. Can't wait to see season 5 when that comes out.

What a masterstroke when developing that rivalry between Tory and Sam. They are brilliant actresses and the hatred seems so real. I know when I was watching it, I did think "I bet they are great friends in real life". Tory's character and how she has grown in the show has been amazing, credit to her and the producers.
