@@SirChickenMcNuggetTheThird I own it for almost two months. At default settings it is stable at 61 degrees Celsius and tbh it rarely makes a sound. I recommend this GPU if you want to build an all-out quiet PC.
the pcb isnt as long as the whole card so its expected, also for the fe on the 3070 its a 1x 8pin to 12pin. If they extended it it would interfere with cooling, and add a lot fore wires and sautering points of failure. if you decide to go the route of water cooling the gpu, the 12pin would be located at the edge of the pcb
And it blows exhaust towards an air cooler. I don't see how an adaptor cable is more reliable than internal cables, it shifts blame nicely though for problems and makes manufacturing simpler.

I bought one at MicroCenter 6 hours after release and they still had like 30 cards left in Minnesota, it seems Nvidia shipped most of their founder's edition to Microcenter and retailers to try and prevent bots, but people are still scalping. 90% of scalped cards are from MicroCenter.

I just upgraded from GTX1070 to the Strix RTX3070. I'm gaming on a 28" ASUS 1440 monitor and very happy with it so far. I have no plans on going 4K anytime in the near future.

Recently got rog strix white edition 3070 and trust me, you can not hear it from the pc case if it's closed. Runs super cool in my high airflow case. Fans max out at %70 (1730RPM) on full 260W load and temp doesn't go above 66 degrees. Hot spot temp is at 77
In summary, 3rd party cards: Bigger than FE, tacky designs and logos, cooler but much more expensive. If only the FE was more available it would be a no brainer for me.

Strix RTX 3070 doesn't seem too bad. If the overclock yields better performance than the 2080Ti, and it still comes in cheaper than the 2080Ti, then it might be worth buying. But seeing as there is ROG tax, making it cost the same as the RTX 3080 FE here in the UK, I think the 3070 FE is the way to go.
Thanks for sharing. After being part of the pc gaming community since 2019, it seems Nvidia Founders Edition and AMD reference cards are the go to devices to purchase. Paying extra on aftermarket cards for 10c degree cooler and maybe 10FPS more is not worth it.
I have the 3070 ROG Strix and it’s nice :) it is superior to the FE for sure, but for $70 more I can get a 3080 and much better performance and that’s the plan. I’ll wait for AMD and let others buy to see if those drivers are worth it.

My Gaming X Trio 3070 was running at 2115mhz stock out of the box. 62 degrees. I've undervolted it and it now runs 2100mhz while still being 62 degrees. I just don't have to coil whine anymore. And probably use less power.
Testing these with an open air test bench definitely swayed cooling and boost performance in favor of the AIB partners. Would be interesting to see a comparison in a closed case where those big coolers wont have an unlimited supply of fresh air
I'm way more interested in the smaller ones. Are the dual fan options actually viable? Ventus, Zotac etc? They are also €100-200 cheaper than the fat ones.
I deshrouded my MSI 3080, and installed arctic P12s on the cooler with rubber gaskets forming a Plenum to clean 23C air outside of my case. Undervolted to 856mV and 1920MHz, with full fan speed of 1850 RPM, I can run unigen heaven indefinitely at 56C. Gaming temps are either at or below that level depending on the game, And my system is quieter than the stock fan profile with the original fan shroud.
Most of those triple Fan 3070 Customs are completely reusing coolers from the 3080/90. Making the PCB huge, so it fits and thus the card unnessesary big. If you look at the PCB it feels completely empty. Some Cards only have a huge cooler, but no a big PCB. The Strix has both. The FE might not be the quietest or coolest GPU, BUT it's half a blowerstyle Card. That means 40-50% of the Heat gets directly blown outside of the Case, thus reducing the total amount of Heat inside the Case. Also the other half od the cooler blows the air directly upwards and so away from the Card, thus removing the Heat much more efficiantly then traditional 2/3 Fan Coolers, which can trap the Heat under the Card between the PCI-E Connector and the Mainboard. The FE is really a revolution in the GPU Airflow design. Why not use a full blowerstyle Card instead you ask? Well the full blowerdesign is simply too big. The Air can't take half of the Heat away, since it's already heated up too much before the Air gets outside of the Case. In short: 1 Fan is not enough, but 2 won't work on full blowerstyle Cards. That is why full Blowerstyle Cards are throttling. The 3000 FE fixes that.

@@Adam-dd5fx a loud hissing sound from a capacitor on the gpu, usually makes noise when playing games. If your case is very open and your headphones dont insulate your ears that much, you could sometimes even hear the hiss when playing games while wearing headphones

Higher clocks means more watts pull from the wall. Which means hotter temps which the strix will ramp up the fans to try n cool it which make more noise.

Im confused, I got the rog oc strix 3070 and the oc mode is 1935 mhz not 2010, what's going on?
I didn’t realise I need 3 8 pin pcie cables, it looked like you only had 2 plugged in? My psu only had 2 so I’m wondering do I need a new psu or will it work okay with 2 8 pins
Why is yours x2 8pin pcie power and mine is x3 8pin pcie power on the strix? Also mine has 3 hdmi and 3 display port

I think the gpu market is going the wrong road with putting more and more watts into this cards, they just getting bigger and hotter. Am I the only one who dont get the hype about this generation of cards? not mentioning the prices in EU and availability
